This is nice stereo FM master recording of Aerosmith in Detroit on April 7, 1974, broadcast on WABX back in the day. The band is rapidly ascending to the top of Rock Mountain with Get Your Wings, the album they're supporting here. I play Mama Kin, Dream On, and Same Old Song & Dance. It's good ol' dirty rock and roll a la The Faces or The New Barbarians. Good stuff.

On y découvre "It's A Mirror", sensible et agoraphobe. La reprise du jour vient de Franz Ferdinand, qui s'approprie "All My Friends" de LCD Soundsystem. Côté live, Aerosmith brille avec "Dream On" enregistré à Boston. Les classiques de The Who, The Specials, ou encore Pearl Jam et The Strokes ponctuent cette soirée riche, conclue avec Ladytron et leur "Playgirl". (00:00-24:28) – Query & Company opens on a Hump Day Wednesday with Jake Query and producer Eddie Garrison discussing the monster basketball night across the state with the Indiana Hoosiers pulling off the upset against Michigan State, Karl-Anthony Towns dominating the Indiana Pacers last night, and Purdue falling short against Michigan last night. (24:28-37:28) – ESPN NFL Draft Analyst, Matt Miller, joins Query & Company to preview the upcoming NFL Draft and NFL Combine. Matt admits that there is a slight drop in talent from Tyler Warren and Colston Loveland to the next tier of tight ends in the draft, shares which position group is littered with talent and which is deprived of talent, and assesses Anthony Richardson through two seasons. (37:28-45:36) – The first hour of the show concludes with Jake and Eddie discussing non-network television shows that they have binge watched. It leads to a conversation about how soon it is to give up on a new show and when it becomes acceptable to talk about the ending of a show. (45:36-1:15:08) – The IndyStar’s Zach Osterman joins the program to recap last night’s win for the Indiana Hoosiers in East Lansing over the Michigan State Spartans with Jake. Additionally, he helps Jake with labeling potential coaching candidates for Indiana into three different tiers, evaluates how likely it is that Brad Stevens will consider IU’s job, and assesses whether Indiana would consider hiring a general manager to oversee the men’s basketball program. (1:15:08-1:18:45) – Eddie plays Dream On by Aerosmith coming back from break and it reminds Jake of a sports video that ESPN put together recapping the 1900’s. He has Eddie guess which people/teams with Indiana ties were represented in the video. (1:18:45-1:27:29) – Hour number two concludes with Jake and Eddie listing candidates they came up with to be a general manager for the Indiana Hoosiers and Purdue Boilermakers men’s basketball programs. (1:27:29-1:54:04) – Sam King from the Lafayette Journal & Courier joins Jake Query to evaluate his list of potential general manager candidates for Purdue men’s basketball. Additionally, they discuss last night’s loss to the Michigan Wolverines, assesses if Purdue can make a run in the NCAA Tournament with three primary scorers, and weighs in on Indiana fans thinking they’ll land Brad Stevens. (1:54:04-2:07:11) – FanDuel Sports Network & Pacers Radio Network analyst, Eddie Gill, joins Jake Query to dissect what went wrong last night against the New York Knicks. Eddie also points out that the Pacers are better when Tyrese Haliburton is attacking the rim instead of looking to pass and is glad that Pacers fans are starting to realize how important Myles Turner’s presence is to the team’s defense. (2:07:11-2:10:22) – Today’s show closes with Jake and Eddie discussing when it is supposed to turn into frigid temperatures and Jake’s plans tonight to go to the Indy Fuel game.Support the show: https://1075thefan.com/query-and-company/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this episode, Kim and Mary interview the talented Katie Murray of "Katie Paintbrush," an artist, muralist, and teacher who's made a name for herself both locally in Fort Worth and nationally. Katie shares her journey from a passion for art that began as early as kindergarten to eventually establishing her own business, working on stunning murals and curating art projects.Katie's career path is full of twists and turns. She initially studied fashion merchandising, then switched to architecture before eventually earning her degree in graphic design. Her love for art, combined with her fascination for geometry, played a significant role in shaping her creative style. Despite working in graphic design and teaching, it wasn't until her friends in real estate encouraged her to paint murals that she discovered the unique niche in the city of Fort Worth. Creating the “Dream On, Dreamer” mural snowballed into multiple mural projects around Fort Worth. She also speaks about her work as a curator and how much she enjoyed collaborating with other artists, helping to make art more accessible and exciting in her community.Katie's creative process involves a lot of intentional thought. Whether she's working on murals, portraits, or large-scale installations, she draws on her background in architecture and graphic design to create visually striking, meaningful pieces. One of her most intensive projects was a mural installation for an architectural trade show in Chicago, where she incorporated unique elements like screws, glass, and Legos to create a stunning impressionistic piece.Throughout the episode, Katie reflects on the balance between being a business owner and an artist. She candidly shares her struggles with burnout and the constant demand of freelance work but also highlights the joy and satisfaction of working on projects that align with her artistic vision. She emphasizes the importance of art not just as a form of personal expression but as something that can inspire and beautify the community. From managing clients and projects to finding ways to stay true to her style, Katie's story is an inspiring example of how following your passion can lead to incredible success, both personally and professionally. Also, if you haven't done so already, follow our podcast! Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #592 is an hour of compelling, visionary acoustic improvised music played by the Gaga Star Band with Miriam Massacre on vocals, Native flute, acoustic guitar, mandolin, marimba and ukulele, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on congas and Native drum. Produced and recorded live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts in September of 2024, today's show begins with the jazzy, effervescent rocker “Celebrate Diversity”, a high-energy workout that earns its title with forays into all the favorite music's of the Gaga Star Band. “Carry Me Into Your Heart” is a gorgeous, delicate, shimmering ballad led by Miriam's plaintive acoustic guitar and emotive vocal and “I Am Enough” develops slowly from a beautiful Native flute and piano invention into a rich, sweeping ballad with a lush, echoing vocal from Miriam in conversation with her soaring Native flute. “Double Winged Dragonfly” is a song that often finds its way into the Gaga Star Crystal Radio Hour, always in a radically different form. On today's show it receives a Northern Appalachian feel with a spry bluegrass rhythm flowing from Miriam's chiming mandolin, accompanied ably and with energy by piano and congas. “Dream On” is a fine, bright folk song with a true, lovely vocal from Miriam above a driving groove that leans ever more towards the blues. “Freedom” is a rousing protest folk song given an energized reading and a powerful vocal, and “Vision Quest” from Miriam's LP of the same name rocks with a gorgeous, fundamental power and sense of mystery and adventure that rivals the original, with Miriam's powerful, driving marimba creating a tight, compelling braid of sound with Craig's Native drum and Bob's far eastern piano touches. Today's show closes with the uncompromising rocker “Trust” and the band hits it with a ferocious, tight attack that sends Mariam's powerful prayer home. Bienvenidos a Interesante historia. McFarland, softcover (2022) mcfarlandbooks.com/product/women-and-the-olympic-dreamOn an April morning in 1896, unemployed single mother Stamata Revithi ran the 40 kilometers from Marathon to Athens, finishing in 5 hours 30 minutes. Barred from the first Olympic marathon, she was determined to prove herself. Through more than a century of Olympic Games history, women athletes—who were held back from swimming because long skirts were required, limited to running single-lap races because of fallacies about fragility, or forced to endure invasive gender exams—competed in spite of endless challenges. From Athens 1896 to Tokyo 2020, this history of women's participation in the Olympic Games centers on athletes who overcame entrenched inequity to gain inclusion.ABOUT MARIAMaria Kaj is a writer, independent scholar, and instructor who regularly posts on her blog kajmeister.com. Today's guest is screenwriter Brian Herskowitz. He wrote the book called Process to Product: From Concept to Script: A Practical Guide for the Screenwriter. Like millions before him, Brian Herskowitz moved out to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. He soon learned that there was a dearth of roles for shorter leading men and began searching for other outlets for his creative passions. In 1980 he wrote his first screenplay, an action thriller about a young man who moves to Tokyo to train for the Olympics in Judo and gets caught up in an intrigue with the Yakuza. Through that script, based on his true-life experience as an international judo competitor, he uncovered a knack and passion for writing. As a writer, Brian has completed well over a dozen feature films. His first produced feature was a low budget slasher titled DARKROOM. He currently has several projects in active development including, THE ABDUCTION, THE EMPRESS OF ELSEWHERE (co-written with Theresa Nelson based on her best selling novel), TAKE A RIDE, and FAIRIES (co-written with Pam Dawber and Andy Tobey). His TV credits include a staff writing position on the NBC sit-com BLOSSOM, multiple episodes of the syndicated series HERCULES: THE LEGENDARY JOURNEYS, and ACAPULCO HEAT, the HBO hit comedy DREAM ON, CBS's RENEGADE, THE EXILE, MURDER, SHE WROTE, the FOX Network's YOUNG HERCULES, and CBS's critically acclaimed was series TOUR OF DUTY (associate producer). Brian co-wrote the FOX pilot MANTIC with Jason Alexander. In addition, he worked as a punch-up writer on BOB PATTERSON, and LISTEN UP.Brian currently holds the title of lead faculty in screenwriting for the prestigious BOSTON UNIVERSITY IN LOS ANGELES - WRITER IN HOLLYWOOD PROGRAM. Brian has taught online for UCLA EXTENSTIONS and has had students from every corner of the earth. Enjoy my conversation with Brian Herskowitz.

#489 Dream On - Richard has had a very difficult journey to the Leeds City Varieties and wouldn't have made it without the genius of tour manager Bec, but thank God he did because this is a terrific podcast with broadcaster and former accountant Amar Latif. He talks about how he coped with losing 95% of his sight at 18, why he was still determined to become an accountant and why he refused to accept that unaccompanied blind people weren't allowed to travel the world. Richard inevitably attempts to claim that mind blindness is as serious a disability and receives terrible prejudice in return. Also climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, risking a piss in the middle of the night on top of a volcano, sky diving and wanting to fly solo round the world, needing to look more blind for the BBC and a surprising mentor for Amar's writing.See RHLSTP on tour- http://richardherring.com/rhlstpSee Rich's stand-up tour Can I Have My Ball Back - https://richardherring.com/ballback/SUPPORT THE SHOW!Watch our TWITCH CHANNELSee extra content at our WEBSITE Become a member at https://plus.acast.com/s/rhlstp.
