Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com In this podcast, I'm joined by Lurch and we discuss and review the complete Harley-Davidson Audio Powered by Rockford Fosgate system we installed on a 2015 Harley-Davidson Road Glide Special.  The system consisted of two amplifiers, fairing speakers, saddlebag lid speakers, and two 10-inch subwoofers.  We discuss the pros and potential cons of this system so you can decide if it, or part of it, is for you. The first thing to note is we tested the system with a decibel meter and it hit at and above the level of other premium systems we installed in the past.  Keep in mind that motorcycle audio differs greatly from car audio.  In a car, you're in an enclosed space with the speakers.  On a motorcycle, the audio is going out to your environment, and at higher speeds, you're leaving the sound of rear speakers behind you.  With that said the saddlebag lid speakers are designed so the speakers are pointed at the rider which may help a bit at highway speeds.   SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE So, let's talk specifically about the subwoofers.  They are very loud when stopped or at low speed in town.  I was honestly supposed how much sound/bass they produced considering the small enclosures and limited air movement.  Harley-Davidson did an excellent job of designing the woofers.  They slide in and out of your saddlebag easily so you can have storage room when needed.   The system is controlled through an App that allows you to adjust the sound in much finer detail than the Boom Box head unit alone.  You can adjust the volume of the subwoofers independently from the other speakers.  There are several preset EQ curves and the availability to create a custom EQ curve.  We found the Highway EQ curve helped to hear the sound at freeway speeds because it focuses on the high and mid-range sounds.  The Boom Box GT units require a flash from your local Harley-Davidson dealer.  The GTS units however do not require a flash.   CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! Our final thoughts are this system is well-built with quality components.  It is as loud or louder than the other premium systems we've installed.  The installation is essentially plug-and-play, and easy to install with our installation video.  You won't be disappointed if you get the Harley-Davidson Audio Powered By Rockford Fosgate system.    NEW FREE VIDEO RELEASED: How To Install A Rocker Housing Gasket On A Harley-Davidson-DIY Sponsor-Ciro 3D CLICK HERE! LAB-275-Soundz Bagger Audio Amplifier/Speaker Install on a Harley-Real World Biker Review!

Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com We spent a day filming and installing front speakers and amplifier on a 2015 Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special and a 2015 Road Glide Special. The components we used are from a company called Soundz Bagger Audio. We had never heard of this company until several years ago when they came out with a device that would allow you to retro-fit your pre-2019 Harley touring model's Boom Box Infotainment System to the new Boom Box GTS Infotainment System, which comes on 2019 and newer touring models. That device from Soundz Bagger Audio is no longer needed, as Harley-Davidson has since made that retro-fit possible at a cheaper cost. (Make sure to listen in to this podcast episode to get even more details than mentioned in this article) We will be releasing a complete Soundz Bagger Audio front speakers and amplifier install video. So, keep checking back on our Premium Tutorial Videos Page Here. We show both a Street Glide and Road Glide install in our video! Note: We have no affiliation with Soundz Bagger Audio. We simply bought their products for real-world testing & review.  Components and Ordering: When you visit the Soundz Bagger Audio website, there are many options for you to choose from depending on your audio needs for your Harley-Davidson. Once you select the speakers, amplifier, and other components you want, you submit a form and they call you the next business day. You can't actually purchase online using your card and you place your final order over the phone.  SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE For our install, we selected the Soundz Iron GT  front fairing speakers and the SM4.100 4 channel 861 watt front amplifier. We did not do any rear speaker lid or front lower speakers for this install, but you can certainly add them on if you like. The Soundz Baggers Audio systems come with a pre-wired harness, all wires, and hardware for ease of installation. Interestingly, after we completed our basic order for submission, it was never mentioned nor recommended that we'd need a Techno Research Single License Scan Tool (SC-Alaris) to flash our Harley Boom Box system to their parameters after install. The next day we received a call to verify our online submission. It was at that time we were told we'd need the additional $150 scan tool to flash the Boom Box after install. Additionally, the online price we were given was a bit different than the final price.  The final cost was $1100 for the speakers and amplifier, $150 for the scan tool, and $30 for shipping. Of course, all wiring, harnesses, and hardware are part of this package. So, the total price we paid was $1,280 US. The company was professional to deal with. This price is in line with other quality audio component installs we've done here at Law Abiding Biker™ Media, such as J&M, Rockford Fosgate, Harley Boom Audio, and Cycle Sounds.  Digital Signal Processor (DSP) It's also worth noting, that with the Soundz Baggers Audio systems, you can add on an additional Digital Signal Processor (DSP), which will allow you to really spend time and dial in exactly how your system sounds based on your personal taste. We did not get this component and it's not required. Receiving the Components:  We received the components timely. We were immediately impressed with the quality of what we saw. The speakers had large heavy magnets, dwarfing the stock Harley speaker magnets. The amplifier looked and felt of quality and had additional plates added to it, helping weather seal and protect it. The wire harnesses were neatly organized, heavy-duty, and had all the plugs you'd expect to see in a 2014 and newer Harley. All items were packaged very nicely. The scan tool came in a nice case and had the proper interface cables.  Install Process & Lack of Instructions: We began filming and installing the Soundz Bagger Audio system on our Harley. Be aware, there are no install instructions that come with the components. There is a document included that tells you to go to their support tab on their website. Once there, we found many .pdf documents in an unorganized fashion. Some help a bit and others helped in no way at all. You are really on your own with no real support once you get the components delivered. However, with our very detailed install tutorial video, you'll easily get through it. We are excited, as we know our video will help so many bikers worldwide not be frustrated with the lack of instructions.  CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! Luckily, with our experience with installing many Harley audio systems over the years, we were able to get through it. We believe that Soundz Baggers Audio mostly sells their systems at rally's and do the installs themselves, which is why they have not really produced detailed and thorough instructions for those that buy online.  We learned that the Soundz Iron GT speaker magnets fit fine inside the stock Street Glide speaker pods. However, with the Road Glide, you must cut a small in the side of the stock speaker pod so it can fit. This is not big deal and we'll show you how to do it in our video. The kit comes with a template, so you can cut the hole in the proper place.  We did find that the harness and the way everything hooked up was unique and a bit different compared to some other systems we've installed. All the wires and harnesses can be very confusing, but we show you in detail in our tutorial video on exactly where to plug things in.  The amplifier installs a bit differently between the Street Glide and Road Glide models, but we show you both in our tutorial video.  Amplifier Settings:  The instructions online do show you where to set certain switches and dials on the amp, but we found one setting was wrong for our setup and we reveal that in our video.  Flashing the Harley Boom Box Infotainment System: Once the Soundz Bagger Audio system was installed, it was time to flash the Harley Boom Box using the Techno Research  Single License Scan Tool (SC-Alaris) that we purchased through Soundz. Again, there are no instructions at all either on the Soundz website or the Techno Research website that will assist you with how to do this.  Inside the case of the scan tool is a sticker. It gives a URL to go to on the Techno Research website where you can download the installer application on your PC. Be aware, this is a PC only installer application and they don't support Mac, which is very archaic for the year 2020.  After you install the Techno Research software on your PC, there are some very basic listed instructions to follow but they lack in detail. We were able to get through the flash of the Harley Boom Box Infotainment System and we reveal exactly how to do this in our tutorial install video. Within the scan tool is a pre-determined "canned" type flash that will set the Boom Box system to the desired settings for the Soundz system. There are procedures, but essentially, you hook your PC laptop to the scan tool and the scan tool to the diagnostic port on your Harley and run the software.   Note: This Techno Research scan tool is licensed for a single-use. Once you connect it to your Harley and run the software it is married to that vehicle identification number (VIN) forever. It will not work on another Harley.  Overall Sound: The Soundz Bagger Audio System we installed sounds very clean and is plenty loud. With the flash and suggested amplifier settings, you can turn the Boom Box volume all the way up with little to no distortion. It can be heard just fine when riding at freeway speeds while not having to turn it all the way up.  As expected on a system like this, there are mostly mids and highs and not much base. Base gets lost anyways at freeway speeds, so focusing on the mids and highs is what many of these aftermarket Harley stereo system companies do. At full volume, our decibel meter was reading steadily between 100 dB and 110 dB depending on the song playing. This is in line with the Harley Boom Audio, Rockford Fosgate, and J&M systems we've previously installed.  Remember, you could certainly dial the sound in even more if you purchase and utilize the digital sound processor (DSP).  New Free Video Mentioned:  Auto Tracking Motorcycles With Drones-DJI Mavic vs. Skydio Sponsor-Ciro 3D CLICK HERE! Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com In this podcast episode, I explain what you need to know about the new 2021 Harley-Davidson model line-up. These were all revealed at Harley's first-ever global virtual launch event held online on January 19, 2021. I put a video out on our YouTube Channel shortly after the event. SEE VIDEO-The Real 2021 Harley Model Event-The Facts & Issues You Need to Know!! There are some issues I discovered, such as the new 2021 Harley touring models are coming with a cable clutch instead of a hydraulic clutch that has been on touring models since 2014. There were some recalls on the hydraulic clutch system over the years but it seemed to have been resolved. We really have no idea why Harley did this because these are supposed to be “premium motorcycles” and cable clutches are yesterday's technology.  I think this is going to irritate many customers since other motorcycle companies are using hydraulic clutches.  SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE And it seems at this time that you can no longer put current model aftermarket electronic fuel injection (EFI) tuners on your Harley.  They seemed to have changed the data port, so the current tuners won't plug into the engine control module (ECM). I have no doubt though, that aftermarket EFI tuner companies are already working on a solution for this, so it will just be a matter of time. Until then, you can only use a Harley Screamin' Eagle (SE) EFI tuner but they are terrible and don't do much as far as tuning.  Harley can use and sell the SE tuner because it is restricted and therefore EPA compliant.  This is also likely the reason Harley had to make this overall data port change, to try and block aftermarket tuners that are not restricted.  The new Harley CVO line-up will be the Street Glide, Road Glide, Limited, and Tri-Glide, which all have several paint options. They will be coming with the Milwaukee-Eight 117 ci. V-Twin engine. Harley partnered with Rockford Fosgate and the Street Glide CVO and Road Glide CVO will not come with the Harley Audio by Rockford Fosgate Stage 2 Audio system. The Limited and Tri-Glide will come with the standard Boom Audio Stage 1.  CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! The Harley “special” series models will be the Street Glide, Road Glide, and Road King. Harley may have been listening to customers because you now have a black or chrome option on the Street Glide Special and Road Glide Special but not on the Road King Special. Many traditional chrome lovers were not happy that the special models only came in a blacked-out option over the past years. These special models will have the Milwaukee-Eight 114 ci. V-Twin engine.  Also revealed were the Street Bob 114 and the iconic Fat Boy for 2021 and they both look great.  Overall, the bikes and paint options look great on these 2021 Harley models and I'm excited to see them in person at some point.  It's also worth noting that on February 22, 2021, Harley released their first adventure touring motorcycle, the Pan America. Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com We spent the day in the Law Abiding Biker™ Shop installing and filming a Rockford Fosgate speaker and amplifier system for Harley install.  We installed the system on a 2015 Harley-Davidson Road Glide. In this Podcast episode, we go over the entire install and give you our opinion on how the sound quality stacks up to other systems we currently have installed on our Harley's. I want to thank Patron Member Greg Jordan for taking thetime to get ahold of us. He lives about 2 hours west of our location in Washington State and made arrangements to come over for the day and let us film and install the Rockford Fosgate speaker and amplifier system on his Harley. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! That is the awesome Patron Member Community that is growing here at Law Abiding Biker™ Media, Inc. He wanted to share this information with the rest of the community! Greg got to see behind the scenes what it's like to film a detailed install tutorial video.  Get our Rockford Fosgate Speaker/Amp Install Tutorial Video! Rockford Fosgate now offers a Harley front audio upgrade kit featuring a plug and play amplifier wire kit, a Power series small chassis, 4-Channel amplifier and our new 6.5" direct fit speakers. The kit comes with everything you'll need for the install. We found this is a universal kit that will fit 2014 & newer Harley Street Glides, Road Glides, and Ultras! The exact Rockford Fosgate Harley System we installed is as follows:  Power Harley-Davidson® Street Glide® (2014+) & Road Glide® (2015+) Front Audio Kit-Rockford Fosgate (HD14-TKIT) Purchase through the above Amazon affiliate link if you appreciate our efforts to help bikers. No additional cost to you, but we get a small commision.  You will need to have your Harley Boom Box Infotainment System flashed after or before install and definitely before firing the system up for the first time. Unfortunately, some Harley dealerships are now refusing to flash the Boom Box with their Digital Technician software unless you buy a Harley brand amp/speaker system and pay the Harley tax. They will not flash the Boom Box if you have another brand system such as Rockford Fosgate. To combat this, there are motorcycle shops that have similar but limited software and they can flash the system to the proper configuration and Rockford Fosgate provides a list of those shops on their website.  See Rockford Fosgate Harley Boom Box Radio Flash Advisory Warning During installation of the Rockford Fosgate speaker and amplifier system for Harley, we noted that all the components are of high quality and nothing is lacking. The wires are very thick and everything is well put together. It is a universal kit to fit multiple Harley models, so there are components you won't use.  SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE After listening to the Rockford Fosgate system we were very impressed. It has great audio quality and clarity and can be turned up loud w/o distortion. In comparison to our J&M amp/speaker system and our Harley Boom Audio Stage 2 amp/speaker system, the Rockford Fosgate definitely has less bass and more of the mids and highs. The J&M and Harley Boom Stage 2 system have a bit more bass and mids. That's not a good or bad thing, but we wanted to note it. Much bass is lost anyways at freeway speeds when riding. The systems are very similar when running a decibel meter test and nothing was remarkable.  The Rockford Fosgate speaker and amplifier system for Harley is less expensive than both the J&M and the Harley system at $850 at the time of this review.  Note: As a reminder, we already have 4 tutorial videos available for other popular speaker and amp systems for your 2014 and newer Harley-Davidson. Goodbye January and Hello February, it's going to be a busy month. Results of the DJ Mag Top 50 Middle East DJs competition came out today and I came an unbelievable 13th. Thanks so much to all of you that voted. It's also my birthday and Flava's leaving do on the 12th Feb and as per last months update I am dj'ing at the Dubai Polo on 19th and with Greg Stainer at Zinc on 24th Feb. Shout out to Ada, Kas and all the Jambasha crew. Ada's final words to me in London as I was heading back to Dubai after Christmas were when are you going to do another Drum and Bass mix. Well my birthday present from my parents, sister and grandma was a fat Rockford Fosgate subwoofer which was installed in my car yesterday and with Ada's words still ringing in my ears I thought it was about time to have another go at mixing some D and B. I bought a load of tunes online, the majority coming from my favourite two D and B stables RAM and Hospital records. Big Respect to the Sub Focus, High Contrast, Danny Byrd, Blame and Netsky. The tunes are as new as I could possible get but as I am mixing multi genre it's hard to stay fully focused on all. Nevertheless for most of you they should be fresh. For the hardcore D and B crew e.g. Mr Alistair Gates and Paul Harris, I hope they still work for you. I really hope you enjoy the tunes and as ever if you are listening then drop me an email with some feedback. It's matt at djrubber.co.uk Nice One Rubber X
