In this podcast episode, we discuss the 2025 Harley-Davidson model release of the touring models.  This is what we refer to as a soft release, meaning these are the models held over from 2024 with no real changes except for color.  We talk about what is released so far and we give our predictions on what will be released during the virtual launch held on January 23, 2025.   As of January 2nd, Harley-Davidson revealed the following six models for 2025: Street Glide Road Glide Road King Special Freewheeler (trike) Tri Glide Ultra (trike) Road Glide 3 (trike) SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE These models appear to be largely carryovers from 2024, with no significant mechanical or cosmetic changes. This “soft launch” is typical for Harley-Davidson, saving the more substantial announcements for their virtual event on January 23rd at 5 PM CST on their YouTube channel. Road Glide 3 & Tri Glide Ultra Interestingly, the Road Glide 3 and Tri Glide Ultra did not see price increases for 2025. The Tri Glide Ultra received updated wheels (19-inch front, 18-inch rear) and is now available in black trim for the first time, offering additional color options. Trim and Paint Options Harley-Davidson continues to emphasize black trim, offering additional color options compared to chrome models. However, this trend has frustrated traditionalists who favor chrome aesthetics. Notable colors for 2025 include: Mystic Shift: A dynamic shade that changes from gunmetal to orange depending on light angles. Whiskey Firestorm & Midnight Firestorm: Featuring ghost flames, exclusive to black trim models. Unfortunately, these unique options are not available for chrome trim enthusiasts. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! Predictions for the Virtual Launch On January 23rd, Harley-Davidson is expected to unveil more models and changes. Here's what to watch for: Full Touring Models Will the Road Glide Limited and Ultra Limited finally get the 2024 fairing redesign? Are these models being phased out in favor of a build-to-order system? Speculation suggests customers might start with base models and add touring packages to create full touring bikes. Cruiser and CVO Models The Cruiser lineup has yet to be revealed, leaving room for surprises. The popular 2024 CVO Road Glide ST is also absent from the website. Could significant updates be on the way? Pan America Adventure Line The Pan America adventure bike is due for updates. Could Harley-Davidson enter the middleweight adventure market? Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com In this podcast episode, we talk about the 2025 Harley-Davidson Model rumors floating around and we make our predictions.  There is a lot of speculation swirling around the internet about what the 2025 Harley-Davidson model year will bring.  Keep in mind, we do not have any inside information about 2025 models.  Trust us, we try to get info out of our Harly contacts but they are very tight-lipped.  As they should be.  As the new model year approaches it is always for to speculate what might happen.  This episode was live in YouTube for our beloved Patreon members.   SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE The big rumor is that the Ultra Limited models will be eliminated.  If so, you would need to purchase a Street Glide or Road Glide and outfit them with accessories to essentially create an Ultra Limited.  We talk about the pros and cons of this if true.  We speculate what the benefit would be to the purchaser and the MoCo.   CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! Another rumor is Harley will bring back the polished black inner fairing instead of the matte black inner fairing.  We talk about some model production being moved to Thailand.  Some bikers are disappointed with an American company making a bike overseas.  In the past, Harley promised not to produce bikes in another country.  What does this mean and does it lend credence to the rumor of the Ultra Limited getting the axe? Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com In this episode, I'm joined by Lurch and we talk about the recently released 2024 Harley-Davidson Touring Models.  Specifically the 2024 Road Glide, the 2024 Street Glide, and the 2024 CVO Road Glide ST.  I had the opportunity to ride these backs recently in Law Vegas at a Harley-Davidson media event. I learned quite a bit of information to pass along to you, the consumer.  In the episode, I get into motor size.  Variable Valve Timing (VVT) motors versus non-VVT motors, suspension, the new Skyline OS Operating System, performance parts, and more.  Hopefully, the info we provide will help you decide which bike is right for you.   SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE The 2024 Road Glide and Street Glide only come in one model which we are referring to as the Standard model.  For the last several years you could purchase a standard model and a special model.  The standard model was more affordable but lacked many desirable items.  The special model cost more but had many upgraded items.  Now, the "standard" model comes with everything the special models of the past had.  The starting price point (chrome finishings) comes in at a price in between what the standard and special model cost.  One thing to note is black finishings and certain colors cost more.  The new "standard" model is a good starting platform to build from.  You can go the performance bagger or the long haul touring route with them.   The 2024 CVO Road Glide ST is an all-new model.  It is inspired by the King of the Baggers race series.  I've been predicting a bike like this for some time.  My prediction was wilder including mid controls for more lean angle allowing an amature racer to take it out on the track out of the box.  The CVO Road Glide ST has many race-inspired upgrades including carbon fiber parts, an M8 121 motor with upgrades, performance SHOWA suspension, radial Brembo brakes, special track modes, and more.   CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! So, you may want to know if you should buy a standard Road or Street Glide, or should you buy a CVO Road Glide ST?  Here is what I will say; look back on your last two years of riding and evaluate the type of riding you do.  The CVO ST may be the bike for you if want to haul ass and carve up the canyons.  Alternatively, the "standard" models may be best if you want to tour.  Ultimately you'll be happy if you purchase either.  Now, get out there and ride already!  New Free Video Mentioned:  Finding That Elusive Place We Seek! Harley-Davidson just unveiled their latest and greatest in the 2024 model year. This was a big year to say the least. The most popular motorcycles in the touring family, the Road Glide and Street Glide, received a huge make over. The Model offering has been simplified by reduced the offering on these two bikes from six down to two. We have the new body style that was first introduced last year on the CVOs. The engine is a 117 Ci Milwaukee-Eight that received new water cooled heads and a new intake increasing power slightly. New suspension and infotainment are also new, key features being introduced. The star of the show was the CVO Road Glide ST which is a new model that we have never seen before. This CVO capitalized on the Performance Bagger movement and takes a lot of it's DNA from the King of the Baggers race bikes. Matt Laidlaw goes over a lot of the details that weren't included in the show.

Both models feature an evolved fairing profile that appears refreshingly modern yet retains Harley-Davidson design DNA that makes them instantly familiar. Additional key features include: An updated Milwaukee-Eight® 117 V-Twin engine features a new cooling system that further optimizes thermal comfort for the rider and enhanced intake and exhaust flow to boost performance. Selectable Ride Modes – Road, Sport, Rain, and Custom – electronically control the performance characteristics of the motorcycle. Infotainment technology is powered by Skyline™ OS and presented on a 12.3-inch TFT color touch screen that replaces all analog instrumentation and most switches. A new 200-watt audio amplifier powers a pair of fairing-mounted speakers. Improved aerodynamics enhance rider comfort and reduce subjective helmet buffeting at highway speed by an average of 60 percent. Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com In this episode, I'm joined by Lurch, and we review the released 2024 Harley-Davidson Models.  We also give our predictions about what may or may not be released on January 24, 2024.  Harley is doing a virtual launch event on the 24th at 10 AM CST.  You can sign up for the event HERE.  We will put out a video and podcast following the virtual launch on the 24th.   Harley released some of the 2024 models via the website recently.  These are the bikes that are carryovers from 2023.  Our belief is they did this to keep dealers stocked with new bikes.  You see, in 2023 there were a couple of production shutdowns.  One was related to a defective brake line from a third-party provider and the other was due to a parts shortage.   SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE Missing models (as of the date of this recording) from the 2024 lineup are the Fat Bob 114, all CVO models, all Street Glide models, all Road Glide models except the Limited, and the Pan America standard model.  So, one can infer there is going to be something new with the touring models and perhaps the Fat Bob 114. Ryan predicts the 107 Milwaukee 8 motor will be no more after this year.  He believes the 114" VVT motor will be in the special models along with the new dash and fairings.  He believes the standards will have the older Boom Box GTS unit and a smaller motor.  Ryan also believes that Harley will come out with a King of the Bagger model that is more track-ready than the ST models.  Lurch and Ryan predict that there will be a mid-sized Pan America.  Lastly, Ryan predicts that the long-awaited Bronx Street Fighter will come out sometime in 2024. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! Lurch predicts the standard models of the Street Glide and Road Glide may be cut.  Last year there were many models of the Glides including the standard, specials, limited, STs, and CVOs.  That is a lot of models and in his opinion, the higher-level models are more coveted.  The standard glides not being a part of the pre-launch spurred Lurch's prediction.   Harley removed the surcharge imposed on new motorcycle sales.  The surcharge was instituted in July 2021 to combat production and shipping costs related to the COVID-19 pandemic.  In addition to the surcharge cancellation, a couple of models were slightly reduced in price; those being the Nightster and the Nightster Special.   NEW FREE VIDEO RELEASED: Get In The Know Before Harley Releases 2024 Models! Fast-forward to June and H-D drops a teaser for what will be one of the biggest single-year advancements in CVO history. The touring chassis CVO's, Road Glide and Street Glide, have a completely redesigned body style along with a beefed up 121 CI Milwaukee-Eight engine.Matt and Nick dive into 2023 CVOs and dissect the roll out of these new bikes. Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com In this episode, we talk about the 2024 Harley-Davidson Police Road Glide.  For years, law enforcement has used either the Electra Glide or the Road King.  Earlier in the year I was lucky enough to see a prototype of the Road Glide Police model earlier in the year at the North American Motor Officers Association (NAMOA) training conference.  In July, we attended the Harley-Davidson 120th Anniversary celebration in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where Harley announced the Road Glide will be available to law enforcement agencies in 2024.  I tested the Road Glide Police model thoroughly on the NAMOA skills courses.  I give you my honest review of the Road Glide as a police model.  You can watch my review video of the 2024 Harley-Davidson Police Road Glide HERE. Biker Bobble Girl mentioned in this episode SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE NAMOA is a non-profit organization concerned with police motorcycle training in the Pacific Northwest.  NAMOA promotes traffic safety through education and awareness to police motors and civilian riders; to lobby for motorcycle safety laws and police motor training; and provides police motor training officers, training programs, police motor selection processes, and general information for law enforcement agencies and law enforcement training academies.  The annual NAMOA training conference brings together local businesses and related national industries with the community and motorcycle police officers throughout the Northwest and beyond. Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com I recently traveled to Monterey, CA to test ride and review the new 2023 Harley-Davidson CVO Street Glide and Road Glide. There is way more than meets the eye and these motorcycles are completely redesigned, both aesthetically and in performance.  Lurch and I break down all the specs of the Harley-Davidson 2023 CVOs.  These 2023 Harley CVOs have a brand new Milwaukee-Eight 121 ci VVT (variable valve timing) engine, redesigned fairings, controls, handlebars, intake tract, air intake, water-cooled heads, radiator, electric fan, 12.3" infotainment system, new front and rear Showa suspension with preload and rebound damping adjustments, new radial-mounted 4-piston Brembo brakes, larger brake rotors, new wheels, LED lighting, and new storage, just to name a few things.  I was able to watch the King of the Baggers races at Laguna Seca.  It was awesome to witness the sound of the big V-twin engines screaming by.  If you haven't watched any of the races, you need to check it out.  You can watch them on MototAmerica.  SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE In this episode, I tell you everything you need to know about these new 2023 Harley-Davidson Street Glide and Road Glide CVOs. Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com On April 26, 2023, Harley-Davidson announced an upcoming virtual release of the all-new 2023 CVO Road Glide and Street Glide.  The virtual release will be on June 7, 2023.  For more information on the release go here: www.h-d.com/ourfutureisreal.  A physical release of the bikes is scheduled for the 120th Homecoming in Milwaukee.  In this podcast episode, we summarize what we know about the bikes.   “With the introduction of the all-new CVO Street Glide and CVO Road Glide, we've completely reimagined two of Harley-Davidson's most iconic motorcycles and redefined the boundaries of CVO in the process,” said Jochen Zeitz, Chairman, President and CEO of Harley-Davidson. “By rethinking these two models from the ground up, we are ushering in a new era of innovation, design, engineering, and technology, while expanding the definition of Harley-Davidson CVO and taking the Grand American Touring experience to another level. The new CVO Street Glide and CVO Road Glide break the mold and reset the bar for the pinnacle Harley-Davidson riding experience.” SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE According to Harley-Davison, the all-new batwing fairing featured on the 2023 CVO Street Glide model offers an evolved profile exhibiting a faster overall gesture and a more swept windshield. Undercuts beneath the headlamp are more pronounced, and turn indicators are integrated as opposed to external units. While the iconic “T” shape of the batwing fairing is retained, the silhouette and graphic outline have been modernized with updated surfacing, and the new fairing integrates design with the fuel tank, side covers, and saddlebags. The “Omega-shaped” signature light provides instant recognition of the new model and turns signals are seamlessly integrated into the left and right lamp elements. Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com I got to spend a day trackside with the Harley-Davidson King Of The Baggers riders and the entire race team in Arizona at the Podium Club Racetrack. This was pre-season and a look behind the scenes of a practice and test day. I was given exclusive access and got to hang out inside the large tent the Harley-Davidson race team had set up for this practice week in Arizona.  Inside the tent were the actual 2023 Harley-Davidson King Of The Bagger race bikes in all their glory! While inside the tent, I got to really walk around and examine these bikes and all their modifications.  Harley-Davidson factory rider Kyle Wyman, who rides the #33 bike, and Travis Wyman, who rides the #10 bike, were present and I got to interview and get to know both of them a bit throughout the day. Travis even took me for some hot laps around the Podium Club Racetrack in a 2022 Ford Mustang for a better look and understanding of this track. See the video below for those interviews.  SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE The Harley Race Team had a rather unique week at the racetrack and unseasonable weather for Arizona. The Podium Club Racetrack is only about a 10-minute drive southwest of Casa Grande, Arizona. It was 32 degrees when we hit the track at around 8:00 am this Wednesday and it only warmed to around 50 degrees. Monday it rained all day, only allowing a few laps for the team late in the day and Tuesday it was extremely windy with very large tumbleweeds blowing across the track, making it too dangerous for laps.  The night prior to my arrival at the track, it rained extremely hard, leaving the track with standing water and mud across it in places. Because of this, Kyle and Travis had to wait until the afternoon to finally hit the track. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! It was amazing to see how dedicated the entire Harley race team and riders are to this sport. I watched as the Wyman brothers raced their modified Harley baggers around the track and oh what a sound that is. It's literally music to my ears. If you haven't heard it in person, you really need to get to a race.  After laps, the Wymans would bring their bikes either near or into the tent, where the very dedicated race team would make any changes or modifications to the motorcycle itself or hook it up to a computer for tuning or data acquisition. The entire team works together well and each member has their own duties.  Also, while I was trackside for the day, Harley-Davidson Manager Of Engineering (Screamin' Eagle) and Race Team Manager, Jason Kehl, told us all about a brand new Harley 135 cubic inch performance crate motor they are releasing for 2023. See my 135 crate motor release video and info here. Understand, that these 2023 Harley-Davidson King Of The Baggers motorcycles were not completely done and the team was still tweaking them the day I was with them. So, the bikes you see in the video below may look a bit different than when you see them actually hit the racetrack on March 9-11, 2023 at Daytona, for the first race of the 2023 season! There will be 14 races at 7 locations for the 2023 season. Here is the complete schedule and locations. Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com On January 18, 2023, the Harley-Davidson New 2023 Models were released.  This included seven anniversary models, two new models, and the return of one model.  In this episode, we wrapped up everything we learned and put it into a nice package for you.     See our video on the topic!   Anniversary Models    The first six of the seven total anniversary models share a unique paint scheme described as Heirloom Red with a Midnight Crimson Fade and highlighted powertrain components. These models will have oxblood-colored inserts on the seats.  And, the Anniversary models sharing this paint scheme are the Ultra Limited, Tri Glide Ultra, Street Glide Special, Road Glide Special, Fat Boy, and Heritage Classic. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE The seventh Anniversary Model is the CVO Road Glide Limited, being the only anniversary model with the larger 117 Cubic Inch M8 engine.  Its paint is a bit different and can be described as Anniversary Black and Midnight Crimson fade. And when viewed in the sun there is a red highlight to the black.  A subdued eagle split up between the fairing, tank, and bags. Generally speaking, only about 3,000 to 1100 of each anniversary model will be released and they'll all have serialized consoles. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! NEW MODELS The Breakout is returning to the lineup with that beautiful Milwaukee-Eight 117 V-Twin engine.  This bike will have a very wide rear tire, coming in at 240mm, a 5-gallon gas tank, and a 36-degree front rake, which makes it a long, low, wide, modern cruiser. The Nightster Special is the next new model for 2023.  What's so “Special” about this new Nightster?  To start, it has a passenger pillion and footpegs to allow two-up riding.  The handlebars and risers move the bars up and back for a more commanding rider position.  It has a four-inch round TFT display, replacing the analog speedometer and segmented LCD indicators, allowing for BlueTooth connectivity and navigation.  The Nightster Special is coming standard with cruise control, USB charging port, and you can add heated grips.  This new model is going to be a surprise for some. And for many out there, it is a long time coming.  It is the all-new Road Glide 3 Trike.  I'm going to say right up front that even if you've never been interested in trikes, this one is sure to turn your head a bit. Many riders have requested a Road Gide trike for years now and it looks like Harley made it happen.  A lot of engineering went into making the first Harley trike with a frame-mounted fairing including things like the placement of the fairing to accommodate the long rake and steering dampening of the trike. Nice de Sena gives us his thoughts on the new, slightly sportier ST models of the Street and Road Glide touring machines. These are directly influenced by west coast custom culture, and offer a really cool departure from the typical touring bikes. In the second segment, I chat with Nick Smith of Classic Avenue, a California-based auctioneer of some really nice motorcycles and cars. Nick originally came from over the pond and worked for some years with Bonham's auctions, so his standards are extremely high. Looking over the website there are some truly drool-worthy bikes up for auction. Nick gives us his thoughts on the market in general, and why he believes his way of doing things makes all the difference.   We hope you enjoy this episode!      https://classicavenue.com/ 2022 Harley-Davidson Street Glide ST Review [11 Fast Facts]

Shaw was stellar for this week's installment of "You're killin' me, Shaws" and we played "Where I'm From vs. Where I Live". There's apparently a petition to take some of the kills out of the upcoming "Halloween Kills" movie, and there was a guy who knew exactly what he wanted to buy if he'd won the massive Powerball jackpot. Plus, we told Shaw about Wikifeet, and got to a list of three things to do in & around La Crosse this weekend.   See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

LAB-275-Soundz Bagger Audio Amplifier/Speaker Install on a Harley-Real World Biker Review!

Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com We spent a day filming and installing front speakers and amplifier on a 2015 Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special and a 2015 Road Glide Special. The components we used are from a company called Soundz Bagger Audio. We had never heard of this company until several years ago when they came out with a device that would allow you to retro-fit your pre-2019 Harley touring model's Boom Box Infotainment System to the new Boom Box GTS Infotainment System, which comes on 2019 and newer touring models. That device from Soundz Bagger Audio is no longer needed, as Harley-Davidson has since made that retro-fit possible at a cheaper cost. (Make sure to listen in to this podcast episode to get even more details than mentioned in this article) We will be releasing a complete Soundz Bagger Audio front speakers and amplifier install video. So, keep checking back on our Premium Tutorial Videos Page Here. We show both a Street Glide and Road Glide install in our video! Note: We have no affiliation with Soundz Bagger Audio. We simply bought their products for real-world testing & review.  Components and Ordering: When you visit the Soundz Bagger Audio website, there are many options for you to choose from depending on your audio needs for your Harley-Davidson. Once you select the speakers, amplifier, and other components you want, you submit a form and they call you the next business day. You can't actually purchase online using your card and you place your final order over the phone.  SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE For our install, we selected the Soundz Iron GT  front fairing speakers and the SM4.100 4 channel 861 watt front amplifier. We did not do any rear speaker lid or front lower speakers for this install, but you can certainly add them on if you like. The Soundz Baggers Audio systems come with a pre-wired harness, all wires, and hardware for ease of installation. Interestingly, after we completed our basic order for submission, it was never mentioned nor recommended that we'd need a Techno Research Single License Scan Tool (SC-Alaris) to flash our Harley Boom Box system to their parameters after install. The next day we received a call to verify our online submission. It was at that time we were told we'd need the additional $150 scan tool to flash the Boom Box after install. Additionally, the online price we were given was a bit different than the final price.  The final cost was $1100 for the speakers and amplifier, $150 for the scan tool, and $30 for shipping. Of course, all wiring, harnesses, and hardware are part of this package. So, the total price we paid was $1,280 US. The company was professional to deal with. This price is in line with other quality audio component installs we've done here at Law Abiding Biker™ Media, such as J&M, Rockford Fosgate, Harley Boom Audio, and Cycle Sounds.  Digital Signal Processor (DSP) It's also worth noting, that with the Soundz Baggers Audio systems, you can add on an additional Digital Signal Processor (DSP), which will allow you to really spend time and dial in exactly how your system sounds based on your personal taste. We did not get this component and it's not required. Receiving the Components:  We received the components timely. We were immediately impressed with the quality of what we saw. The speakers had large heavy magnets, dwarfing the stock Harley speaker magnets. The amplifier looked and felt of quality and had additional plates added to it, helping weather seal and protect it. The wire harnesses were neatly organized, heavy-duty, and had all the plugs you'd expect to see in a 2014 and newer Harley. All items were packaged very nicely. The scan tool came in a nice case and had the proper interface cables.  Install Process & Lack of Instructions: We began filming and installing the Soundz Bagger Audio system on our Harley. Be aware, there are no install instructions that come with the components. There is a document included that tells you to go to their support tab on their website. Once there, we found many .pdf documents in an unorganized fashion. Some help a bit and others helped in no way at all. You are really on your own with no real support once you get the components delivered. However, with our very detailed install tutorial video, you'll easily get through it. We are excited, as we know our video will help so many bikers worldwide not be frustrated with the lack of instructions.  CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! Luckily, with our experience with installing many Harley audio systems over the years, we were able to get through it. We believe that Soundz Baggers Audio mostly sells their systems at rally's and do the installs themselves, which is why they have not really produced detailed and thorough instructions for those that buy online.  We learned that the Soundz Iron GT speaker magnets fit fine inside the stock Street Glide speaker pods. However, with the Road Glide, you must cut a small in the side of the stock speaker pod so it can fit. This is not big deal and we'll show you how to do it in our video. The kit comes with a template, so you can cut the hole in the proper place.  We did find that the harness and the way everything hooked up was unique and a bit different compared to some other systems we've installed. All the wires and harnesses can be very confusing, but we show you in detail in our tutorial video on exactly where to plug things in.  The amplifier installs a bit differently between the Street Glide and Road Glide models, but we show you both in our tutorial video.  Amplifier Settings:  The instructions online do show you where to set certain switches and dials on the amp, but we found one setting was wrong for our setup and we reveal that in our video.  Flashing the Harley Boom Box Infotainment System: Once the Soundz Bagger Audio system was installed, it was time to flash the Harley Boom Box using the Techno Research  Single License Scan Tool (SC-Alaris) that we purchased through Soundz. Again, there are no instructions at all either on the Soundz website or the Techno Research website that will assist you with how to do this.  Inside the case of the scan tool is a sticker. It gives a URL to go to on the Techno Research website where you can download the installer application on your PC. Be aware, this is a PC only installer application and they don't support Mac, which is very archaic for the year 2020.  After you install the Techno Research software on your PC, there are some very basic listed instructions to follow but they lack in detail. We were able to get through the flash of the Harley Boom Box Infotainment System and we reveal exactly how to do this in our tutorial install video. Within the scan tool is a pre-determined "canned" type flash that will set the Boom Box system to the desired settings for the Soundz system. There are procedures, but essentially, you hook your PC laptop to the scan tool and the scan tool to the diagnostic port on your Harley and run the software.   Note: This Techno Research scan tool is licensed for a single-use. Once you connect it to your Harley and run the software it is married to that vehicle identification number (VIN) forever. It will not work on another Harley.  Overall Sound: The Soundz Bagger Audio System we installed sounds very clean and is plenty loud. With the flash and suggested amplifier settings, you can turn the Boom Box volume all the way up with little to no distortion. It can be heard just fine when riding at freeway speeds while not having to turn it all the way up.  As expected on a system like this, there are mostly mids and highs and not much base. Base gets lost anyways at freeway speeds, so focusing on the mids and highs is what many of these aftermarket Harley stereo system companies do. At full volume, our decibel meter was reading steadily between 100 dB and 110 dB depending on the song playing. This is in line with the Harley Boom Audio, Rockford Fosgate, and J&M systems we've previously installed.  Remember, you could certainly dial the sound in even more if you purchase and utilize the digital sound processor (DSP).  New Free Video Mentioned:  Auto Tracking Motorcycles With Drones-DJI Mavic vs. Skydio Sponsor-Ciro 3D CLICK HERE! The Perfect Place to Get Leukemia with Mitch Bolden

Mitch Bolden's life was turned upside-down at age 27, when his doctors informed him that he was suffering from advanced-phase Leukemia; a deadly form of cancer that attacks blood cells and bone marrow. As the cancer slowly grew in Mitch's bones, his attention was on other things. He was focused on advancing in his career in criminal justice, and he was trying to salvage his struggling marriage. Everything changed in an instant when he discovered that he was literally in a fight for his life.  I have noticed a trend with cancer survivors. They are funny, accepting, and wonderfully forgiving. When a person faces death's door, but doesn't walk through it, they gain a level of appreciation for the gift that is this day. They understand how lucky we are to get to take another breath. Mitch embodies that and more. He laughs at the ugly parts of life. He is unphased by stuff that would make others say eeewwwww or oooouch.  He's much more than just a guy who beat Leukemia.  He's a dad, a husband (newly wed), security expert, Harley-Davidson motorcycle enthusiast who may or may not be affiliated with a motorcycle club that has awesome matching jackets, an ATV rider, and a pretty dang nice guy too. I had a lot of fun getting to know Mitch. He is so clearly ecstatic about the exciting things happening in his life right now. His joy shines through even when we discuss emotionally-weighty topics like cancer and divorce. He lets us be a part of his journey through adversity and we get to share in his triumph on the other side. We kept the tone fun and never got bogged down in the emotional mire. This is a happy podcast. I hope it makes you feel happy to hear it. Love, Jeff Guest Links:Mitch Bolden. Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com In this podcast episode, I explain what you need to know about the new 2021 Harley-Davidson model line-up. These were all revealed at Harley's first-ever global virtual launch event held online on January 19, 2021. I put a video out on our YouTube Channel shortly after the event. SEE VIDEO-The Real 2021 Harley Model Event-The Facts & Issues You Need to Know!! There are some issues I discovered, such as the new 2021 Harley touring models are coming with a cable clutch instead of a hydraulic clutch that has been on touring models since 2014. There were some recalls on the hydraulic clutch system over the years but it seemed to have been resolved. We really have no idea why Harley did this because these are supposed to be “premium motorcycles” and cable clutches are yesterday's technology.  I think this is going to irritate many customers since other motorcycle companies are using hydraulic clutches.  SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE And it seems at this time that you can no longer put current model aftermarket electronic fuel injection (EFI) tuners on your Harley.  They seemed to have changed the data port, so the current tuners won't plug into the engine control module (ECM). I have no doubt though, that aftermarket EFI tuner companies are already working on a solution for this, so it will just be a matter of time. Until then, you can only use a Harley Screamin' Eagle (SE) EFI tuner but they are terrible and don't do much as far as tuning.  Harley can use and sell the SE tuner because it is restricted and therefore EPA compliant.  This is also likely the reason Harley had to make this overall data port change, to try and block aftermarket tuners that are not restricted.  The new Harley CVO line-up will be the Street Glide, Road Glide, Limited, and Tri-Glide, which all have several paint options. They will be coming with the Milwaukee-Eight 117 ci. V-Twin engine. Harley partnered with Rockford Fosgate and the Street Glide CVO and Road Glide CVO will not come with the Harley Audio by Rockford Fosgate Stage 2 Audio system. The Limited and Tri-Glide will come with the standard Boom Audio Stage 1.  CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! The Harley “special” series models will be the Street Glide, Road Glide, and Road King. Harley may have been listening to customers because you now have a black or chrome option on the Street Glide Special and Road Glide Special but not on the Road King Special. Many traditional chrome lovers were not happy that the special models only came in a blacked-out option over the past years. These special models will have the Milwaukee-Eight 114 ci. V-Twin engine.  Also revealed were the Street Bob 114 and the iconic Fat Boy for 2021 and they both look great.  Overall, the bikes and paint options look great on these 2021 Harley models and I'm excited to see them in person at some point.  It's also worth noting that on February 22, 2021, Harley released their first adventure touring motorcycle, the Pan America. Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com We upgraded a 2016 Ultra-Limited that had the older Harley-Davidson Boom Box Infotainment 6.5 GT to the new Boom Box GTS, which came out on the 2019 and newer Harley touring models. We filmed the install and will release that video on our Y0uTube channel, so get subscribed right away. (see our install video) Converting to the newer Harley Boom Box Infotainment GTS System: As of November 2019, Harley-Davidson made it possible to upgrade your older system to the new 2019 Boom Box GTS on those 2014-2018 touring models. Visiting Harley's website, it seems they are marketing and describing this conversion kit more towards upgrading from the smaller 4.3 non-touchscreen unit to the new GTS unit but you can upgrade from either the smaller 4.3 unit or the larger 6.5 GT unit.  SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE For 14-18 Harley models, they state that an additional USB connector needs to be purchased for around $35-$50 but you can't even find the part on their own website at the time of this article.  Further, we found during our install that it's not even required.  This USB connector is the one that plugs into the rear of the Boom Box unit and it is already inside your jukebox compartment where you can plug in your smartphone or USB drive. We just used the USB connector that's already there instead of installing a new one and all works perfectly.   And that goes for all the other new cables that come in the box with the new Boom Box GTS such as am/fm antenna a GPS antenna. We didn't use any of the new cables and used the ones already routed and installed and all works perfectly.  Also, be aware that if you have XM radio and have installed the module on the rear of your older 6.5 GT unit you don't need a new one. Just remove your XM radio module and install it on the new Harley Boom Box GTS unit and all will work fine.  Check out all of our very helpful Boom Box Tutorial Videos for 2014 to present units! We sell a ton of these tutorial videos and are praised by bikers worldwide. Learn everything you need to know to get the most out of the Harley Boom Box system and how to integrate and use Harley Ride Planner! Note: After upgrading to the new Boom Box GTS unit, you'll need to visit a dealership so they can flash the unit with their Digital Technician II software. Until then the unit will beep at you every 15 seconds or so, regardless if it's on or off.  CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! Here is the information and part numbers you'll want to be aware of for a Boom Box GTS upgrade: Harley Street Glide and Ultra Models 2014 to present: Fitment is taken from Harley's own website: Fits '19-later FLHTCU, FLHTCUTG, FLHTK, and FLHX models with a 4.3 Boom!™ Box Radio. Also fits '15-'18 Road Glide® models with separate purchase of USB Connector P/N 76000374A. Boom Box GTS Unit P/N 76000374A Converting to a Sony XAV-AX7000 instead:  Darryl “Squid” Barnes here at Law Abiding Biker Media dug in deep to find out everything you'll want to know if you're considering ditching your Harley Boom Box for the Sony XAV-AX7000 unit. Listen in to this podcast episode as I ask Darryl all the questions you'll want to know. Note: The Sony XAV-AX7000 is designed for use in a car. It was never designed to be used on a motorcycle.  The pros of the Sony XAV-AX7000 Harley Boom Box Replacement: The replacement Sony system has standard am/fm and it has both Apple Car Play and Android Auto baked in and they will function if your smartphone is plugged into one of the USB ports. It has a full 7″ touchscreen and is very sleek. You can buy a XAV-AX7000 bundled kit from certain companies that will allow it to install and function when installed on your Harley-Davidson. With Apple Car Play and Android Auto, you'll be able to use Apple Maps and Google Maps for navigation. Another nice feature is that with the Sony XAV-AX7000 you'll maintain your factory handlebar toggle control functions but with several limitations. Note: If you appreciate all the information we provide and to help us continue our mission to help as many bikers as we can worldwide, consider purchasing a Sony XAV-AX7000 through our affiliate link below. No additional cost to you, but we get a small commission if you click through and make a purchase.  CHECK OUT A SONY XAV-AX7000 HERE Further, the Sony replacement plays FLAC files on USB drives and includes Bluetooth hands-free calling and audio streaming. You can also jam to your favorite playlists on Pandora or Spotify if you use those instead of your pre-loaded Apple or Android music. The unit is also compatible with a SiriusXM satellite radio tuner. AND, it comes with a 1-year warranty. The Sony unit also has dual USB inputs and has 45 watts RMS per channel and five 5-volt preamp outputs.  The cons of the Sony XAV-AX 7000 Harley Boom Box Replacement: The Sony XAV-AX7000 is not a marine-grade like the Boom Box system is. So, you'd need to be careful if riding in heavy rains and when washing your Harley. Additionally, you won't see your EITMS on/off-screen or oil pressure like on the Boom Box. You'll also only get limited functionality with the use of your control toggles.  The XAV-AX7000 has a microphone included with a wire that you normally route inside a quiet car. Using this microphone for voice commands or phone calls with the wind and noise would be less than practical on a motorcycle. The XAV-AX7000 only has a handsfree profile "HFP" and not a headset profile "HSP". That means you cannot pair a wireless Bluetooth headset directly with the unit, but you can pair your smartphone with it because of the HFP profile. This is similar to the Boom Box system but you can add the additional wireless headset interface module "WHIM" to get the HSP profile. There is no ad-on for the Sony unit to get the HSP profile.  So, you'll need to pair your wireless Bluetooth headset directly with your smartphone and then have your smartphone plugged in via the USB port to use Apple Car Play or Android Auto. You can then give commands to your phone which will then bring things up on the Sony unit.  Further, because the unit lacks the HSP profile, you'll lose your Harley intercom functionality and it's not CB radio compatible. Remember, that the Sony XAV7000 unit was made for a car and that's why you need to buy a kit or bundle of things to make this conversion possible. There are companies around that sell the bundle.  Obviously, the Sony XAV-AX7000 is a much cheaper option than the Boom Box GTS if you don't care about the above-mentioned items and limitations.  Conclusion: Now that you're educated on the Harley Boom Box GTS upgrade vs. the Sony XAV-AX7000 conversion, you have a decision to make on which will work best for you. Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com When Harley announced it's new updated Boom Box GTS Infotainment System it was equipping the 2019 & newer models with, they failed to make a kit so that owners of 2014 to 2018 Harley's could upgrade from the older version of the Boom Box system if they chose.  This infuriated many Harley owners.  A company called Soundz Bagger quickly came out with a harness that made the retro-fit possible but it cost a whopping $450. And then you'd have to spend an additional $2400 to purchase the Boom Box GTS unit.  SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE It's hard to understand but Harley riders were spending all that money to upgrade when in my opinion the GTS unit is not that much better. Yes, it's an improvement over the original 6.5 Harley Boom Box unit but not worth that much money! You are basically paying to fix Harley's mistake with the first iteration of the Boom Box Infotainment System.  Check out all of our very helpful Boom Box Tutorial Videos for 2014 to present units! We sell a ton of these tutorial videos and are praised by bikers worldwide. Learn everything you need to know to get the most out of the Harley Boom Box system and how to integrate and use the Harley Ride Planner! As of November 2019, it seems Harley-Davidson has now silently come out with their own kit to make the conversion to the new 2019 Boom Box GTS possible on those 2014-2018 touring models. Visting Harley's website, it seems they are marketing and describing this conversion kit more towards upgrading from the smaller 4.3 non-touchscreen unit to the new GTS unit.  CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! For 14-18 models, they say an additional USB Connector needs to be purchased for around $35-$50 but you can't even find the part on their own website at the time of this article. I actually seemed to have found the connectors on Surdyke's website (links below). The cost of the Boom Box GTS and conversion kit has come down in price to around $1900.  Here is the information and part numbers you'll want to be aware of: Harley Street Glide and Ultra Models 2014 to present: Fits '19-later FLHTCU, FLHTCUTG, FLHTK, and FLHX models with a 4.3 Boom!™ Box Radio. Also fits '14-'18 FLHTCU, FLHTCUL, FLHTK, FLHTKL, FLHTKSE, FLHX, FLHXS, FLHXSE and FLHTCUTG, models with separate purchase of USB Connector P/N 69200031A. Also fits '19-later Electra Glide® Standard models with separate purchase of appropriate Hand Controls, Wiring, and Antenna. He owns both a Harley-Davidson Road Glide and an Indian Chieftain Limited.  This year, Big Daddy decided to ride his Indian Chieftain on our 8-day, 7-State, 3,000-mile motorcycle trip instead of his Road Glide. He has ridden both these motorcycles on very long road trips now and is certainly qualified to give his opinion and thoughts.  SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE This is not an episode of Harley vs. Indian. Big Daddy is very unbiased and loves both his Harley Road Glide and Indian Chieftain, which is why he owns both of them. He has some good and bad things to say about both motorcycles. Neither bike is perfect and each offers some different things. It is really up to each rider to consider what is most important to you personally and then choose a touring bike. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! Big Daddy goes over many things in this episode. He likes the stock rear suspension on the Indian Chieftain over the Harley Road Glide. But he likes the gas mileage of his Harley much better. He says his Indian is a real "gas hog". This is only one of many things he discusses.  At the end of the episode, Big Daddy reveals his favorite motorcycle for riding long distance and locally, so you'll have to listen in to find out! LAB-216-Harley Releases the 2019 Electra Glide Standard? Gem or Junk?

Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com Harley released their latest touring bike, the Electra Glide Standard, and kept it pretty low key. Harley is calling it the "dressed down dresser". It comes in at a cheaper option than the Street Glide, Road Glide or either of those "special" models. In this podcast episode, we break things down for you and what this new Harley is all about and who it may be for, so listen in. The 2019 Harley Electra Glide is basically a stripped down Street Glide and so that's what I am going to compare it to. The Harley Electra Glide starts at $18,999 and the basic Harley Street Glide starts at $21,289. The Street Glide special jumps up to a starting price tag of $27,089.  SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE The 2019 Harley Electra Glide Standard is an awesome and capable touring bike. I say that because I ride a 2018 Police Electra Glide every day for work. It is a highly capable bike and I think it's great that Harley made a regular public model here in 2019.  Understand that the Harley Electra Glide lacks a stereo/infotainment system of any kind and there is just an empty open storage box in that location. It doesn't come standard with ABS brakes but hey can be added for $795. I strongly suggest you add ABS brakes if nothing else as they save lives. It also lacks a two-up passenger seat and passenger pegs but anything can be added based on your needs.  CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! I'll also mention, the Electra Glide has smaller wheels and the tires are thicker than the Street Glide. The windshield is tall and plain and it has the regular square rear brake/signal setup. You can only get this bike in black. All these things separate its look from the Street Glide a bit.  The 2019 Harley Electra Glide comes with the very capable Milwaukee-Eight 107 motor. Yes, it comes standard with cruise control, which is a must for any touring bike.  Harley has recently been making moves to appeal to a broader demographic of riders. I believe the 2019 Harley Electra Glide Standard is an attempt to grab riders who may now be able to get into motorcycle touring at a lower price point.  The 2019 Electra Glide Standard is a cheaper price and stripped down but a very capable Harley touring model. It will be interesting to see how well this bike sells.  Remember, that for close to $2,000 more than the 2019 Harley Electra Glide Standard you can get a Street Glide Standard, which comes standard with ABS brakes, a basic version of the Boom Box radio (4.3 non-touch screen), two up passenger seat, passenger pegs, and paint options. But, everyone's budget is different, so the Electra Glide may be the best option for many. You can always build this bike up how you want it.   Listen in to this podcast episode as we break it down even further than this short article. In this Podcast episode, we go over the entire install and give you our opinion on how the sound quality stacks up to other systems we currently have installed on our Harley's. I want to thank Patron Member Greg Jordan for taking thetime to get ahold of us. He lives about 2 hours west of our location in Washington State and made arrangements to come over for the day and let us film and install the Rockford Fosgate speaker and amplifier system on his Harley. He wanted to share this information with the rest of the community! Greg got to see behind the scenes what it's like to film a detailed install tutorial video.  Get our Rockford Fosgate Speaker/Amp Install Tutorial Video! Rockford Fosgate now offers a Harley front audio upgrade kit featuring a plug and play amplifier wire kit, a Power series small chassis, 4-Channel amplifier and our new 6.5" direct fit speakers. The kit comes with everything you'll need for the install. We found this is a universal kit that will fit 2014 & newer Harley Street Glides, Road Glides, and Ultras! The exact Rockford Fosgate Harley System we installed is as follows:  Power Harley-Davidson® Street Glide® (2014+) & Road Glide® (2015+) Front Audio Kit-Rockford Fosgate (HD14-TKIT) Purchase through the above Amazon affiliate link if you appreciate our efforts to help bikers. No additional cost to you, but we get a small commision.  You will need to have your Harley Boom Box Infotainment System flashed after or before install and definitely before firing the system up for the first time. Unfortunately, some Harley dealerships are now refusing to flash the Boom Box with their Digital Technician software unless you buy a Harley brand amp/speaker system and pay the Harley tax. They will not flash the Boom Box if you have another brand system such as Rockford Fosgate. To combat this, there are motorcycle shops that have similar but limited software and they can flash the system to the proper configuration and Rockford Fosgate provides a list of those shops on their website.  See Rockford Fosgate Harley Boom Box Radio Flash Advisory Warning During installation of the Rockford Fosgate speaker and amplifier system for Harley, we noted that all the components are of high quality and nothing is lacking. The wires are very thick and everything is well put together. It is a universal kit to fit multiple Harley models, so there are components you won't use.  SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE After listening to the Rockford Fosgate system we were very impressed. It has great audio quality and clarity and can be turned up loud w/o distortion. In comparison to our J&M amp/speaker system and our Harley Boom Audio Stage 2 amp/speaker system, the Rockford Fosgate definitely has less bass and more of the mids and highs. The J&M and Harley Boom Stage 2 system have a bit more bass and mids. That's not a good or bad thing, but we wanted to note it. Much bass is lost anyways at freeway speeds when riding. The systems are very similar when running a decibel meter test and nothing was remarkable.  The Rockford Fosgate speaker and amplifier system for Harley is less expensive than both the J&M and the Harley system at $850 at the time of this review.  Note: As a reminder, we already have 4 tutorial videos available for other popular speaker and amp systems for your 2014 and newer Harley-Davidson. Official website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-Matt "Lurch" Couchman, Rick "Big Daddy" Kane, and Brian "Grunt" White spent the day in the Law Abiding Biker Grage. We were filming a complete service, oil change, and service on a Harley-Davidson with a Milwaukee-Eight engine!    In this episode, we give you a behind the scenes look. The Harley dealership that performed the 1K break in service on this 2017 Road Glide did not do several things properly we found. You must hear our findings, so you can be aware what to look for! We also tell you why it's not worth your money to buy these oil change and service packages from the dealership when purchasing a new Harley. Brian will tell you the truth and he tested it.   Note: Understand that the problems we found were that of one unnamed Harley dealership. We know many great Harley mechanics and dealerships. Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com PODCAST & VIDEO-In this video Lurch and I ride to the Rattlesnake Mountain Harley-Davidson dealership at 3305 W 19th Ave, Kennewick, WA 99338. Lurch has a plan to trade in his 2008 Harley Street Glide for a 2015 Harley Road Glide Special. Although I have always personally liked the look of the batwing style fairing on the Street Glide models, Harley has re-designed the shark nose fairing on the 2015 Road Glide models and I like the new look much better. Lurch and his 2015 Road Glide Lurch is 6 foot 6 inches tall, so because of the fixed fairing (does not turn with the handlebars) we will be able to install 13" ape handlebars and push them forward farther. This will give Lurch a more stretched out and comfortable riding position. The bars can not be pushed as far forward on the Street Glide, because of the different fairing that turns with the bars. •Check out our #1 rated Harley Handlebar Install Videos-Fairing and non-fairing videos available! Further Information: VIDEO & BLOG-In this video I had some time with a 2015 Harley Davidson Road Glide in what Harley is calling "mysterious red sunglo" & it is beautiful! Harley took 2014 off on producing the Road Glide, so I was excited to check this bike out! I shot some awesome video and photographed the bike. There is also the Road Glide Special for 2015, which is essentially the same bike, but comes with some extra goodies. The special comes standard with the upgraded larger 6.5 inch touch screen version of the new "Boom!™ Box" infotainment/GPS system, a security system, and Premium low hand-adjustable rear suspension, which I like much better from experience in riding with both. Here is a free video & information I released on how to properly adjust the low hand adjustable rear suspension. The special also comes with a finished off shiny black painted inner dash instead of the matte black finish on the standard model. Note that the larger 6.5-inch touch-screen Boom!™ Box/GPS system is an option on the standard model. Harley-Davidson touring models first came out with the Boom!™ Box system in 2014 as part of Project Rushmore. Now, although the Boom!™ Box Infotainment System is pretty awesome, it does come with a fairly steep learning curve that has frustrated many Harley owners until now. In fact, most owners of the Boom!™ Box system have no idea about the hidden menus, bugs, issues, necessary software updates, mapping integration, nor the system's full overall capabilities. With my #1 viewed Harley-Davidson Boom!™ Box Infotainment System instructional videos I straighten that learning curve out for motorcyclists/bikers and relieve the stress. These videos have received rave reviews from the motorcycle/biker community and for that I thank you! Check out the #1 Viewed Harley-Davidson Boom!™ Box Instructional Videos Here! SEE PHOTO GALLERY The feature that most distinguishes the Road Glide from the other touring models is its fixed frame-mount “shark-nose” fairing and dual front headlights. The handlebars move inside the fairing, which stays put. On other touring models, such as the Street Glide, the handlebars move with the fairing and it is often called the "batwing" fairing. First seen on the 2014 touring models, the Road Glide now sports the upper fairing vent with a manual switch to shut it off in inclement weather. This vent is to minimize head buffeting by putting a curtain of air (wall) in front of you, forcing the oncoming air up and over your helmet while riding. My 2014 Street Glide special has this fairing vent and I have ridden a ton. My estimation is that it reduces head buffeting by 20-30 percent, so it is well worth it. In addition to the main upper vent are two vents to each side of the headlights, which are “Dual Reflector Daymaker LED” headlights. Harley says these headlights have significantly more spread and greater punch than standard headlights. Harley-Davidson is calling this new three-way air venting system the “triple splitstream vent”. Because the fixed fairing sits way further forward from the rider than on other models, the two additional lower vents are designed to lift the airflow per Harley-Davidson. The dramatic reduction in head buffeting has not only improved rider comfort, but also the listening quality of the Boom!™ Box sound system. A new handlebar bend reduces rider reach by 5.5 inches, which improves long-range comfort. Revised hand controls (just like 2014 models) have improved ergonomics, and a pair of thumb joysticks helps control the Boom!™ Box Infotainment and navigation. The standard comes with air-adjustable twin rear shocks. Here is a free video & information I released on how to adjust these air type shocks. With the Rushmore Project Harley put the new hard injection-molded saddlebags, which are the same convenient easy-open units found on Harley’s other touring models. The 2015 Road Glide standard comes with optional Reflex Linked Brakes with ABS, which I highly recommend for all riders. Of course they are anti-lock brakes, but much more. The integrated system senses too much front or rear brake applied by a rider and evens it out for you automatically, which is critical for emergency braking situations. I have tested this new braking system out intensely in all kinds of weather and road conditions and let me tell you that this bike stops fast and it is very controlled! With all the close calls us motorcyclists/bikers have to deal with, these brakes are well worth it. The iterated brakes don't react in until a bit higher speeds. So, for those of us that perform low-speed skills course drills, we won't have to worry about using that back brake and having it activate suddenly! Facebook forcing law abiding biker motorcycle clubs to switch from a personal page to a "page": When you start a motorcycle club we suggest you set up a Facebook page instead of a personal profile. The reason is that after you get over a certain amount of friends, Facebook will force you into becoming a page and you will loose all your history and pictures. This recently happened to the Sworn Few Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club. When you have a Facebook page not as many people will see your posts and this is due to Facebook's algorithm. They want you to pay money to "boost" your posts, so more people see it. This is fine for a business, but most of us are non-profit organizations. Clubs are not generally going to pay, so other bikers can see their posts, so this is a bit ridiculous. I am impressed at the thoroughness of your product, especially noting the time you put into the learning process of the BB functions. You answered my questions on the Navigation areas and so much more on the rest of the different areas. You really overloaded me but at the same time, I now know where to go to find specific answers on the many different areas. And your presentation of the material was down to earth, easy to understand and most of all, functional. Now I have a "go to" reference for my unanswered questions which HD left me and others in the dark. My next purchase will be the BB software video since I anticipate it will be in greater depth than my experience of downloading HD software. So thanks again for your videos and time spent in researching the HD dark holes and producing such a fine product. My response: Thanks so much Jon for the kind words and feedback. It is so nice to hear that all the hard work and going the extra mile is appreciated. I am always concerned that I am creating content that is useful and well presented & as you see trying to make it better. If I feel it is outdated it drives me nuts until I overhaul everything and get it out. I don’t want anyone to ever feel like they did not get what they paid for. I’m a bit obsessive….LOL Mark Rosselet of Hilliard, Ohio Is there any certain products that you like to use when cleaning and polishing both the painted and chromed surfaces of the bike. I have tried several but have not found one that I can truly say is the best that I have used. Like to keep the bike looking great so looking for a good solution. My response: I have used much stuff over the years. However, I came across Bug Slide several years ago that that is all I use. It absolutely works on everything. Chrome, Paint, Wheels etc…… Great for a dry cleaning solution. For a wet clean solution I just use regular car soap. The link below is to where I purchase my Bug Slide from (Dakota-Shields). I don’t get paid to send you there. So, If you could please take a moment and drop the owner, Dick Peters, a line for me via email or phone I would appreciate it. That would be great bro. * DAKOTA-SHIELD LINK Daniel Gilbert of Quebec, Canada I'm trying to find information on front rotor replacement for my 2011 flhx. I've seen your video on how to remove the front wheel, but is there anything specific I should know when replacing rotors such as torque specification? My response: There are torque specs you will want to follow for the rotor. Each year is a bit different, so a quick caller to your local dealer and they will tell you. Unless you have a service manual (that is where your dealer will look up the specs). ________________________________________________________________ CHECK US OUT AND SUBSCRIBE:   Website: http://www.LawAbidingBiker.com   Email & Voicemail: http://www.LawAbidingBiker.com/Contact   Phone Hotline: 509-731-3548   Twitter: https://twitter.com/LawAbidingBiker   Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lawabidingbiker        YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/scrappy587     Google Plus Page: https://plus.google.com/b/104041070580228657262/+Lawabidingbiker587   Instagram: http://instagram.com/lawabidingbiker     RSS: feed://www.LawAbidingBiker.com/feed   iTunes Direct Link to Podcast:  https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/law-abiding-biker-podcast/id622424087    Stitcher Radio: http://www.stitcher.com/podcast/law-abiding-biker-podcast   TuneIn Radio: http://tunein.com/radio/Law-Abiding-Biker-p562288/

MAIN WEBSITE: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com LISTENER HOTLINE: (509) 731-3548 PODCAST-Ever been stuck at a traffic light that takes an excruciating amount of time — what feels like hours — to turn green? Imagine that as a daily occurrence. That is what it’s like for some motorcyclists/bikers due to sensors at some intersections that don’t recognize when lightweight vehicles arrive. During the last legislative session, a new section was added to Chapter 46.61 RCW in Washington State that allows the operator of a street legal motorcycle to make a left turn, after stopping at an intersection that is controlled by a triggered traffic control signal, if the device fails to operate after one cycle of the traffic signal. Other states have had laws for some time and they are often referred to as "Safe on Red Laws". Safe-on-red laws vary by state on how they address the issue, but they all include basic instructions on how one can legally run a red light. In general, the guidelines say motorcyclists must wait at the light for a predetermined amount of time and then only proceeding through the intersection if it’s free of cross traffic or pedestrians. States with "Safe on Red Laws" are listed here: Arkansas - In effect since 2005, state law allows a motorcyclist to proceed with caution, after coming to a full and complete stop, through a red light that fails to detect the bike. (Arkansas Code section 27-52-206) Idaho – (2006) If a signal fails to operate after one cycle of the traffic light that a motorcyclist may proceed, using due caution and care, after coming to a full and complete stop at the intersection. (Statute 49-802) Illinois - (2012) Permits a driver of a motorcycles or bicycle facing a red light that fails to change within a reasonable period of time of not less than 120 seconds to proceed after yielding the right-of-way to any oncoming traffic. However, this law doesn’t apply to municipalities of over 2,000,000 people – such as Chicago. (625 ILCS 5/11-306) Minnesota - (2002) A person operating a bicycle or motorcycle who runs a red light has an affirmative defense if the driver first came to a complete stop, the traffic light stayed red for an unreasonable amount of time and appeared not to detect the vehicle and no motor vehicles or people were approaching the street. (Statute 169.06) Missouri – (2009) State law tells both motorcyclists and bicyclists that run red lights that they have an affirmative defense if they brought their vehicle to a complete stop, the light was red for an unreasonable time period, and there were no motor vehicle or person approaching. (Statute 304.285) Nevada - (2013) Those using motorcycles, bicycles, mopeds, and tri-mobiles are allowed to proceed through an intersection with a red light after waiting for two traffic light cycles, and they yield to other vehicle traffic or pedestrians. (Statute 484B.307) North Carolina - (2007) Motorcyclists are permitted to move cautiously through a steady red light after coming to a complete stop and waiting a minimum of three minutes and if no other vehicle or pedestrians are approaching the intersection. (NCGS 20-158) Oklahoma - (2010) Motorcycles can proceed cautiously through a steady red light intersection after a making a complete stop and if no other motor vehicle or person is approaching the roadway. (Statute 47-11-202) South Carolina - (2008) After making a complete stop and waiting for a minimum of 120 seconds, the driver of a motorcycle, moped, or bicycle may treat a steady red light that doesn’t change as a stop sign and proceed with caution. (S.C. Code 56-5-970) Tennessee - (2003) After coming to a complete stop, motorcyclists and bicyclists may proceed through a steady red light when it is safe to do so. (Tennessee Traffic Control Signals 55-8-110) Virginia – (2011) Drivers of motorcycles, mopeds, and bicycles may move with caution through non-responsive red lights as long as they yield the right-of-way to others approaching the intersection, and have come to a complete stop for two complete light cycles or 120 seconds, whichever is shorter.(Statute 46-2-833) Wisconsin - (2006) A motorcycle, moped or bicycle is permitted to run a steady red light after making a complete stop and waiting at least 45 seconds and then yields the right–of-way to any vehicular traffic or pedestrians using the intersection. (Statute 346.37) In early 2013, Nebraska introduced Bill LB 85 proposing a safe-on-red law, but the bill currently has a status of “indefinitely postponed.” Cell Phone Motorcycle Mount: We want to remind everyone that we did a complete review video and blog on cell phone motorcycle mounts from Power Sports US. Harley Davidson Ride Planner App Review: (listen to this podcast episode to get the full review) So, I strongly encourage all bikers/motorcyclists to use the free Harley Davidson Ride Planner, regardless of what make of motorcycle you ride, to route and map your next motorcycle ride. Everyone can access Harley Ride Planner on the main Harley Davidson website. You just need to set up a free user and password and you are on your way. I did a complete Harley Ride Planner tutorial video on using the ride planner some time back & it has become very popular. In this [tutorial video] you will learn how to completely plan a ride with Ride Planner, save it, download it, and upload it into your Harley Davidson approved GPS system. There is also a free smartphone app that Harley puts out for free. The app can be useful if you don't have a GPS, but after thoroughly testing it we found some real drawbacks. If you save your rides online they do show up on your mobile app, which is pretty cool. There are listed turn by turn directions that you can read too. You can zoom in on your ride and see the route and it looks similar to Google Maps. Additionally, it shows all your way points and the addresses in the list view. It even has a little social media aspect and you can show the community particular restaurants you were at. The Ride Planner app has some serious flaws, like being completely inaccurate on the mileage to your next way point. And it tends to change that mileage figure when it wants. So, we would have to jump over into Google Maps when planning the next day and put our current location to the next way point location to get the actual mileage. Also, it lacks voice turn by turn directions. However, I doubt Harley will change this as they want you to purchase their GPS units or buy a new Harley model with the all new built in Boom Box Infotainment system. I do love the Harley Boom Box system that is on my 2014 Street Glide Special and I did a very thorough tutorial video on how to operate that system. That video is super popular, so check it out. Here are several Law Abiding Biker videos that you may be interested in on motorcycle ride planning, GPS Boom Box operations, and updating your Boom Box software: Boom Box Infotainment Boom Box Software Update Harley Davidson Ride Planner Emails 1: Robert Nelson of Bend, OR This is my second time visiting your site, seems to get cooler each time I take a peek! I plan on purchasing your video on installing heated grips. I like your logic for choosing HD brand but I'm not impresed with their selection. Are you aware of other brands that use similar technology (not a fan of Heat Demon-in the bar element). I like the Avon all black "air cushion" style. HD's all black version reminds me of my stock grips (2013 Road Glide). I look forward to learning more about your MC. MY RESPONSE: Very cool bro & thanks for your kind words. On our way back from our 7 day motorcycle trip we came back through Bend. We had a few frosties at Deschuttes Brewery. Of course I had to stop by Goodies and get my girls a bunch of candy to bring back. Anyways, unfortunately nobody else really has the same technology on heated grips. I too do not like the Heat Demon in bar elements. I think they are junk and you have to put a separate box on your handlebars. For some reason good quality heated aftermarket grips are hard to come by. 2: Listener Gary Kreamer Bought new tires off the internet for my 2006 street glide. I guess that was a big mistake because no one around here {shops] will take off and install. Want you to buy from them. [ I understand now ] Not sure what to do now.
