Cubs Snap Skid in Style, Beat Timber Rattlers 6–2 Behind Gallagher Gem and Wild Double Play The South Bend Cubs got back in the win column Saturday afternoon at Four Winds Field, defeating the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 6–2 in a game highlighted by a dominant pitching performance and one of the strangest double plays you’ll ever see. Ryan Gallagher was electric on the mound, tossing 6 innings of shutout baseball with 9 strikeouts, allowing just 2 hits and no walks. His outing gave the Cubs a chance to settle in early and stay in control throughout the game. Jefferson Rojas sparked the offense, collecting 3 hits, scoring 2 runs, and driving in another. South Bend put up 2 runs in the 1st, 1 in the 2nd, 2 in the 7th, and added an insurance run in the 8th. Wisconsin’s Tanner Gillis matched Gallagher for much of the game, pitching 6 solid innings with 4 strikeouts and 3 earned runs, but the Timber Rattlers couldn’t overcome the early deficit. The Double Play That Had Everything The game’s defining moment came in the late innings, just as Wisconsin was threatening to mount a comeback. With the bases loaded, the Cubs made a pitching change—and what followed was a defensive sequence for the ages. Marco Dinges lifted a fly ball to left field, where Edgar Alvarez made the catch. Jadher Areinamo tagged up at third and attempted to score. That’s when chaos ensued. Alvarez fired home to catcher Miguel Pabon, who cut down Areinamo at the plate in a rundown. From there, the ball was thrown: From Pabon to second baseman Jefferson Rojas Back to Pabon Then to third baseman Reivaj Garcia Back again to Pabon On to first baseman Brian Kalmer Then to shortstop Cristian Hernandez Eventually, Areinamo was tagged out in a rundown that spanned nearly the entire infield. Meanwhile, another Wisconsin runner had strayed too far off a base during the confusion and was also tagged out—completing an improbable inning-ending double play that killed the Timber Rattlers’ best scoring chance. The crowd at Four Winds Field erupted as the Cubs sprinted off the field, having turned a pressure-packed situation into a momentum-crushing defensive gem.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Bend Cubs Edged Out by Lugnuts 6–5 Despite Gallagher’s 12 K Gem Lansing, MI — The South Bend Cubs came up just short in a tough 6–5 loss to the Lansing Lugnuts on Saturday night at Jackson Field, despite a stellar outing from starting pitcher Ryan Gallagher. The 2024 sixth-round draft pick delivered a career-best performance, striking out 12 batters over six innings and allowing just five hits. Unfortunately, two pitches proved costly — a two-run home run by T.J. Schofield-Sam in the second inning and another two-run shot by Sahid Valenzuela in the fifth. Down 4–1 entering the sixth, the Cubs rallied. Drew Bowser lined a two-run single to cut the deficit to one, and the game was tied moments later when Miguel Pabón scored on a controversial fielder’s choice. The Lugnuts failed to turn a double play, and while the throw appeared to beat the runner, the umpire ruled the defensive player wasn’t in contact with second base while possessing the ball. Lugnuts manager Darryl Kennedy strongly disputed the call and was ejected from the game. The Lugnuts regained the lead in the bottom of the sixth on a catcher’s error, and added what turned out to be the game-winning run in the eighth on a throwing error by the right fielder. South Bend mounted a final rally in the ninth. Brian Kalmer scored on a line-drive single to right by Ivan Brethowr, but Brethowr was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double to end the game. Right fielder Jared Dickey fired to shortstop Joshua Kuroda-Grauer, who applied the tag to secure the final out. Despite the loss, South Bend out-hit Lansing 9–6, and Gallagher’s dominance on the mound was a bright spot as the Cubs look to bounce back in the series.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Gallagher’s Pitching Gem Leads South Bend Cubs to 5–0 Shutout Over TinCaps It was a picture-perfect day at Four Winds Field, and the South Bend Cubs made sure the fans went home happy with a commanding 5–0 victory over the Fort Wayne TinCaps. Behind dominant pitching, timely hitting, and crisp defense, South Bend improved their standing with one of their most complete performances of the season. The story of the day was Ryan Gallagher, who delivered a masterclass on the mound. The right-hander pitched six innings of no-hit baseball, racking up eight strikeouts while walking just one. Gallagher was in total control from the first pitch, keeping TinCaps hitters off balance with a mix of fastballs, breaking balls, and pinpoint command. His performance set the tone early and gave the Cubs a strong foundation. After Gallagher’s dominant outing, the Cubs bullpen kept the momentum going. Luis Rujano took over in the seventh and kept the no-hitter alive for one more inning before the TinCaps finally broke through with a hit in the eighth. Sam Thoresen came in to close things out in the ninth, sealing the combined shutout and allowing just the third Fort Wayne hit of the day. While the pitching stole the headlines, the offense gave the arms plenty of breathing room early. The Cubs came out swinging in the bottom of the first inning, plating four runs to take immediate control. Catcher Miguel Pabón was at the heart of the rally, delivering two RBI singles in the inning as the Cubs batted around. Pabón also had a strong day behind the plate, managing the pitching staff with poise and precision. South Bend tacked on another run later in the game, but with the way the pitching staff performed, it was more than enough. The win showcased what the Cubs are capable of when everything clicks — elite pitching, timely hitting, and sharp fielding all coming together. With the shutout win, the Cubs continue to build momentum as they progress through the season. The hometown crowd was treated to sunshine, strikeouts, and a statement win.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The South Bend Cubs fell to the Cedar Rapids Kernels by a score of 8–3 on Saturday. Despite an aggressive on the basepaths with four stolen bases, the Cubs managed just six hits and left nine runners stranded—most of them in the early innings—missing key opportunities to shift momentum. Ryan Gallagher got the start for South Bend and went 2.2 innings before giving way to Connor Schultz, who initially stopped the bleeding by recording the final out of the third. However, Schultz ran into serious trouble in the fourth and fifth innings, surrendering five runs on five hits while issuing three walks. The Kernels capitalized on Cubs pitching struggles and pulled away to secure the winSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
South Bend Cubs starting pitcher Ryan Gallagher made his third professional start against the Beloit Sky Carp in a mid-afternoon game at a somewhat windy Four Winds Field. Gallagher came out sharp, retiring the first eight batters he faced consecutively before allowing an infield hit. That infield single eventually came around to score in the top of the third inning, tying the game at one apiece. The South Bend Cubs had gotten on the board early, plating a run in the bottom of the first. Jefferson Rojas led off with a single and later scored when Ariel Armas lined a base hit to left field for an RBI single off Beloit starter Jake Brooks. In the bottom of the third, the Cubs threatened again, loading the bases after Armas was hit by a pitch. Edgar Alvarez followed with a single over the infield, scoring Ivan Brethowr and Andy Garriola to give South Bend a 3–1 lead. Armas was thrown out at the plate trying to score on the same play, ending the rally. Gallagher kept the momentum going with a scoreless top of the fourth, but ran into trouble in the fifth. He gave up two runs before being replaced by reliever Joe Nahas. The Sky Carp tied the game at 3–3. In the top of the sixth, Nahas struggled early, allowing the first two batters to reach base. He then committed a balk, moving the runners to second and third with nobody out. Colby Shade doubled to right field, scoring Ryan Ignoffo and moving Yiddi Cappe to third, giving Beloit a 4–3 lead. Michael Snyder followed with a single to left field, scoring both Cappe and Shade to extend the Sky Carp lead to 6–3. After the damage, Nahas managed to get the Cubs out of the inning by inducing an inning-ending double play to stop the bleeding. In the top of the seventh, Johzan Oquendo came in to relieve Nahas. He walked the bases loaded but stood strong under pressure, managing to keep the Sky Carp from scoring any more runs and keeping the Cubs within striking distance. In the bottom of the eighth, the Cubs made a strong push, hitting two rockets, one of which was snagged in the outfield and the other stopped by a great play in the infield. The Cubs were unable to get anything going, as the Sky Carp defense held firm, preventing a rally from forming. In the top of the eighth, Cubs pitcher Sam Thoresen struck out the side, keeping the Cubs in the game. However, while warming up for the top of the ninth, something happened, forcing him to leave the game before he could pitch the inning. Marino Santy came in to relieve Thoresen but struggled, issuing a few walks. The Sky Carp capitalized, scoring a run to extend their lead to 7–3. The Cubs made a last-ditch effort in the bottom of the ninth, loading the bases with two outs. However, a ground out ended the game, and the Sky Carp secured a 7–3 victory. On a positive note, Edgar Alvarez had his first multi-hit game of the season, showing promising signs of consistency at the plate. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

From the Archives is our Summer Break Series of Podcasts that highlight some of the most listened to content from previous shows. 22-Are you losing your religion? - Jeremy Wade Jeremy Wade, a former police officer, shares his journey of finding faith and wellness in the midst of the challenges of being a first responder. He discusses the early experiences that tested his resolve and faith, the toll it took on his mental health and relationships, and the importance of prioritizing faith and family. Jeremy also highlights the need for support and resources for first responders, including spiritual guidance and discipleship. He emphasizes the role of faith in providing hope and resilience in the face of trauma and the importance of integrating spirituality into wellness conversations. Mission First Alliance is a national nonprofit ministry that aims to unite and equip all who have a heart to reach first responders for Christ. They seek to bridge the gap between the body of Christ and first responders, bringing them together to collaborate and understand each other's work. The organization offers resources and support for chaplains, ministries, and individuals who want to support first responders. They emphasize the importance of faith and spirituality in wellness programs for first responders and believe that it is an often overlooked component. Mission First Alliance's mission is to build a gospel-focused First Responder Alliance and provide awareness and support to first responders and their families. ABOUT JEREMY WADE Jeremy served for the Seattle Police Department for 13 years, but struggled with his identity in Christ vs his identity in the badge early in his career. After a few years on the department he fully surrendered his life to the Lord, which started an amazing journey that the Lord has been blessing along the way. While not free from challenges like the Seattle riots, and many critical incidents, Jeremy could see God's hand in directing his paths. On the Seattle PD, Jeremy was awarded Officer of the Year, and Medal of Valor. He worked in patrol, in the training unit, as a peer support coordinator, and assisted in developing the department's first wellness unit. He co-founded the SPD Beds for Kids Program with Ryan Gallagher, that continues on today. Jeremy also served as the executive director of the Seattle Police Chaplains Association, and came alongside many other local and national first responder ministries. In 2021, Jeremy, his wife Ketryna, and four kids, felt God calling them to move to Tennessee and step out in faith to do full time ministry, supporting first responders nationwide. This led to serving as the Training & Development Coordinator for the Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers- USA, until God started directing his path, and opening doors to start Mission First Alliance. 22-Are you losing your religion? - Jeremy Wade How do you reconcile your faith - whether you consider yourself a Christian or otherwise - and being a first responder? You've seen the darkest side of humanity, and have experienced loss within your own ranks with those who have given up hope. That's the very thing that Jeremy Wade struggled with while he was an officer with the Seattle police department. Today on the podcast Jeremy talks about this struggle and how he was able to overcome this dichotomy. In his years at Seattle PD Jeremy helped launch a wellness program and in his last few years there he was the executive director of the Seattle Police Chaplains Association. Today, Jeremy and his Wife Ketryna have launched a national first responder ministry called Mission First Alliance who's mission is to encouraging ministries and engage the Church to equip our nation's first responders and their families to live in Christ and on Mission. Medical records have often been referred to as “the source of truth,” and they serve many purposes for veterinary practitioners and their patients. In a perfect world, medical records provide all the details about the patient's history, clinical findings, diagnostic test results, pre- and postoperative care, prescribed medications, and the patient's follow up care and progress. When done well, these records can be understood by other veterinary practitioners and will support the veterinarian's treatment decisions. As a result, many veterinarians feel enormous pressure to produce quality medical records, while still delivering the utmost level of care for their patients and clients. This balancing act can lead to veterinarians staying at the clinic late or coming in on days off and weekends to write and update their patients' records. Not surprisingly, medical recordkeeping contributes to a workload that is often overwhelming, which is one of the top causes of burnout among veterinarians. In this episode of VetFolio Voice, host Dr. Cassi explores a new medical recordkeeping solution — Scribenote — designed to improve a veterinarian's work-life balance and provide better efficiency at the clinic. Tune in to hear how Dr. Katie Gallagher's missed dinners and recordkeeping struggles led her brother Ryan Gallagher to create Scribenote.

Once the most trusted search engine for private and neutral search results, Duck Duck Go, just announced that they will now be censoring and filtering content. It may have lost them their core userbase. We'll dive into some alternative search engines, and share Brave CEO Brendan Eich's responses about how Brave Search works. Also, it turns out that one of NYC's most iconic skyscrapers, shrouded in mystery for years with no publicly available information about it, is actually a giant NSA surveillance center. Codenamed TITANPOINTE, the center is hidden in plain sight right in the middle of Manhattan, but is actually one of the most important NSA surveillance sites on U.S. soil.Ryan Gallagher and Henrik Moltke wrote a couple of great pieces for the Intercept a while ago diving into these, which recently resurfaced again on Hacker News, that we'll explore on the show.Read the full investigation here:https://theintercept.com/2016/11/16/the-nsas-spy-hub-in-new-york-hidden-in-plain-sight/Laura Poitras, Henrik Moltke documentary:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SOJugaGK0eU0:00 Show Preroll0:53 Naomi's Show Intro1:29 Welcome2:30 Duck Duck Go's announcement4:46 The "Brave" Alternative6:26 Brendan Eich replies to Naomi on Twitter11:55 Intro to Main Story: The NSA's Spy Hub In The Middle of NYC13:42 Background of the building's construction14:31 "The Intercept" reports 17:01 AT&T24:45 Domestic surveillance revelations26:28 The Blarney Project30:00 What the whistleblowers revealed33:02 AT&T and NSA respond37:06 NSA spying on Americans39:50 Opt out of surveillance services43:19 Show Out and ThanksBrought to you by NBTV members: Sam Ettaro, Will Sandoval, and Naomi BrockwellTo support NBTV, visit https://www.nbtv.media/support(tax-deductible in the US)Sign up for the free CryptoBeat newsletter here:https://cryptobeat.substack.com/Beware of scammers, I will never give you a phone number or reach out to you with investment advice. STONECREST WEEKLY'S CITY COUNCIL ELECTION SERIES.Tune in to hear each candidate answer 10 questions in relationship their view on the City of Stonecrest. Each candidate will answer the same 10 questions, giving you a clear perspective of each candidate without any outside influence.Today's episode features for Candidate Ryan Gallagher for District 5.Greetings my name is Ryan Gallagher I am an entrepreneur and a recent two time college graduate with aspirations of becoming a lawyer in the near future. I have been a resident of Dekalb county, specifically lithonia for over 22 years and I absolutely love my community and I want to see it prosper. I attended Arabia Mountain High school where I was blessed to receive the opportunity of not only obtaining my High School diploma but also an Associates degree in Network Administration. Obtaining a specialized skill and degree at an early age helped me learn the importance of education. I continued my studies at the world renowned historically black college Texas Southern University where I majored in Political Science with a dual minor in Spanish and computer science. There I would learn about the building blocks of government and what it means to come together as a society to promote the greater good. Politics has always been a passion of mine as well as helping the community to be the best they can be. Words can not express how happy I am to potentially be in a situation where I can impact and help others that I would not have been able to reach before. If I were so fortunate to be elected as a Stonecrest City councilmen I swear to uphold the laws of our city charter and constitution. I want to promote new business moving inside the city to generate more revenue and stimulate growth inside our economy. I will support our local schools and hope to generate new youth programs to enrich our residences' lives. I will work to ensure that our local government has positive effects on our quality of life and is transparent with the citizens of stonecrest. With your help I hope to make Stonecrest the greatest city in America! About Ryan and Mental Edge Lifestyle Podcast: I started the Mental Edge Lifestyle Podcast because I want to have an open, honest conversation about mental health. I've had my own struggles — I lost my father when I was 16 and used alcohol to help me cope. Through my own journey, I discovered the importance of opening up about your problems and realizing how many people around you are dealing with similar struggles can go a long way in helping you overcome life's challenges and become a stronger person. But, saying it is one thing and doing it is another. So to let you know that you are not alone in this, I will be opening up and talking to professionals in the mental health field, as well as professionals in a variety of other fields to discuss how to keep a healthy mind. I will also be talking to others who have overcome mental health issues and letting them share their stories. Included will be episodes featuring experts from around the world on subjects like addiction, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), financial stress, the mind-body connection, and the importance of sleep and fitness. The goal of this podcast is to give you the tools and resources you need to maintain a healthy mind and body to allow you to operate at peak performance for whatever life demands of you.
