Flu Outbreak Hits Air Force Recruits After Hegseth Ends Vaccine Mandate 6/19/26

More than 160 military recruits at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas are battling a flu outbreak instead of completing training. Just weeks before the outbreak, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth ended mandatory flu vaccination for the military, citing bodily autonomy and concerns about "overreaching mandates.” According to The Guardian, after the vaccine became optional in April 2026, only about 40% of recruits chose to get vaccinated. Now, at least 160 servicemembers living in tight quarters are sick and they're being ordered to get vaccinated as part of containment efforts. This outbreak highlights the consequences of policy changes in military medicine and raises critical questions about military readiness and individual choice versus collective safety in environments where isolation isn't an option. In addition, there seems to be trouble with Trump‘s Iran deal. The US/Iran talks set to be held in Switzerland are being called off. That's because Israel and Hezbollah are still attacking each other in Lebanon. On top of that, Trump said the Strait of Hormuz would reopen but now, a surprise: Iran says fees/tolls to cover cost of managing the strait will take effect at end of 60-day negotiation period. So now the world will pay the price for Trump‘s decision to attack Iran? Mo Kelly is in for Mark Thompson. We welcome Michael Shure for a look at ‘This Week in Politics' and Michael Snyder for a look at the latest movies. Elon Musk's Valuation Machine: Genius Business or Rules Written for Billionaires? 6/12/26

Elon Musk has built some of the most valuable companies on Earth, but how much of that success comes from innovation, and how much comes from a system that gives billionaires a different set of rules? As SpaceX's valuation soars and IPO speculation grows, we look at the regulations, government support, private market advantages, and exceptions that critics say helped fuel the Musk empire. Were the rules bent ? Here we go again with the back-and-forth on Trump's Iran War. Trump says a deal is imminent, but Iran says there's no final decision on that. It's contrary to what President Trump told reporters - that a settlement has been reached and a memorandum of understanding could be signed soon, likely in Europe. In keeping with that statement, Trump called off planned hard strikes on Iran. Meanwhile, there's word that Iran tried to strike commercial ships trying to get through the Strait of Hormuz and US officials shot down Iranian attack drones. The reports are conflicting from all angles. Is this part of Trump's strategy or does the Trump administration, once again, not really have a handle on what it's doing? We'll put the question to Michael Shure and Mo Kelly who join us for ‘This Week in Politics.' Then, it's all about weekend frivolity with a swing by the state of Florida to check in on the craziness and a look at movies with The Culture Blaster, Michael Snyder. Bring on the weekend! Explore the "middle" phase of intellectual property protection. The period between filing and final protection is a crucial phase where strategy, negotiation, and risk management take shape. Using pop culture references ranging from Quentin Tarantino films to Willy Wonka and Jurassic Park, hosts Michael Snyder and Joseph Gushe connect famous middle acts in entertainment to the middle stages of the patent, trademark, trade secret, and copyright processes. This episode of IP Goes Pop!® breaks down:  What "patent pending" actually means from publication to examination How the patent examination process can strengthen a patent How the "middle" for trade secrets effectively becomes the entire lifecycle of protection The importance of preserving trade secret rights via NDAs, restricted access, and confidentiality measures  Common law trademark rights versus federal registration Trademark examination process and USPTO requirements The crossovers between copyright process "middle" and trademarks Along the way, the hosts question whether Willy Wonka's factory tours would survive modern confidentiality practices and whether Jurassic Park had one of the least effective trade secret protection programs in movie history. Whether you are protecting technology, building a brand, or managing confidential business information, this episode offers a practical look at the "middle" phase of IP protection where rights are often shaped, tested, and strengthened the most. That's in addition to plants across 10 states: West Virginia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Indiana, Tennessee, Arkansas, Arizona, Oklahoma, North Dakota and Wisconsin. As Trump's Iran War continues, the administration is running into yet another problem. According to the 1973 War Powers Resolution, the president has to remove military forces from conflict within 60 days if Congress doesn't authorize a war before the deadline. That has House Speaker Mike Johnson claiming this is not a war at all… “I don't think we have an active, kinetic military bombing, firing or anything like that. Right now, we are trying to broker a peace. I would be very reluctant to get in front of the administration in the midst of these very sensitive negotiations, so we'll have to see how that plays out.” Meanwhile, Senator Lisa Murkowski plans to introduce an authorization for use of military force when Congress returns, if there's still a “lack of a credible plan” on Iran. Donald Trump and Richard Nixon have more in common than being president. April 26, 2026 marks the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster—one of the most catastrophic man-made events in history. The explosion released more than 400 times the radioactive fallout of the Hiroshima bomb, leaving a lasting scar on the environment and on human lives. In this episode, we reflect on how Chernobyl was not just a technical failure, but a profound moral one—where flawed systems, suppressed truth, and human error converged with devastating consequences. Yet amid the chaos, stories of courage emerged: firefighters, plant workers, and ordinary citizens who risked—and often gave—their lives to contain the disaster. Michael Snyder offers sobering insights into what Chernobyl reveals about the trajectory of human systems and the vulnerabilities we still face today. For a man who won the presidency seemingly based on the high cost of living. Including rising grocery store prices, Trump appears to have forgotten that, “It's the Economy, Stupid!” With Americans growing more frustrated by the day about the price of gas, Trump brushed it off yesterday saying prices are "not very high.” He said, gas is “not as high as what was expected from the war” and higher prices are worth it to keep Iran from having a nuclear weapon. May we resolve to live not by lies, political correctness, wokeness, or ‘repressive tolerance‘ by any name. May we live by the Truth alone, and may God have mercy on us. Political correctness is communist propaganda writ small. In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, nor to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better. When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is to co-operate with evil, and in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control. I think if you examine political correctness, it has the same effect and is intended to. — Theodore Dalrymple (Anthony Daniels) Frontpage Magazine interview (August 31, 2005) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, [even] in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is forcing the Army's top general out. It's a move fueling new scrutiny over who is driving decisions inside the Pentagon. With no clear explanation for General Randy George's early removal, critics are pointing to the growing influence of outside political voices, including far-right activist Laura Loomer, and raising alarms about possible ideological or loyalty tests shaping military leadership. General George isn't the only experienced, educated leader being forced out. Chief of Chaplains, Major General William Green Jr. and Commander of Army Transformation and Training, General David Hodne, are also being shown the door. The shakeup is intensifying concerns about politicization at the highest levels of command—and who might be next. It's going to be a great Friday show. We'll recap ‘This Week in Politics' with Michael Shure and Mo Kelly. It's been a doozy with Trump admitting he'd rather pay for a war than daycare, threatening to bomb Iran back into the Stone Age, showing up at a Supreme Court hearing and then firing Attorney General Pam Bondi. In pop culture, "last" often just means "for now." In intellectual property law, it means something much more concrete. In this episode of IP Goes Pop®, Michael Snyder and Joseph Gushue explore what "last" really means across film, TV, music, and IP law. From The Last Samurai and The Last Jedi to Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Last of Us, "last" builds emotion, but rarely signals the end. In IP law, it does. The hosts explain how rights expire, can be lost early, become generic, or change by statute. Featuring examples like Alexander Graham Bell's telephone patent and It's a Wonderful Life, this episode breaks down why IP rights don't last forever, and why that matters. Dr. Michael Snyder joins Dr. Forbes to discuss research showing that Type 2 diabetes represents multiple metabolic subtypes rather than a single condition. He explains how glucose curve patterns, oral glucose tolerance testing, and continuous monitoring can help identify differences in muscle insulin resistance, beta-cell function, hepatic signaling, and incretin response. The conversation explores how these physiological patterns may guide individualized nutrition strategies, medication selection, and earlier detection in people with emerging dysregulation.

Trump & his White House team were already having a bad week with indications from the Supreme Court that the president‘s tariffs might not pass muster with justices. Trump has to contend with a public increasingly frustrated over the unaffordability of everything from food to housing. Add the Epstein emails to the mix, a mad dash to try to convince Congresswoman Lauren Boebert and other Republicans not to support releasing the Epstein files and you have White House staffers flailing. They have tried the age old tactic of blaming the media, blaming Democrats and calling the Epstein matter a hoax. With a vote to release the files set for the house next week, it doesn't seem like any of this will be dying down. Mo Kelly returns to the mic for Mark. He welcomes journalist Michael Shure to talk about the top political stories of the week. We'll stop in Florida to check in on the wild goings on before turning to the best entertainment the weekend has to offer with The Culture Blaster, Michael Snyder.

Enter the 36 Chambers of intellectual property as hosts Michael Snyder and Joseph Gushue spin the story of Wu-Tang Clan's mysterious, one-of-a-kind album Once Upon a Time in Shaolin, and the first-of-its-kind legal case it inspired. From Staten Island's kung-fu-infused hip-hop origins to a high-stakes sale cloaked in secrecy, Michael and Joe trace how a creative experiment in artistic exclusivity turned into a potential landmark in trade secret law. When Wu-Tang recorded a single physical copy of Shaolin and sold it under an ultra-restrictive contract, few imagined the album would pass through the hands of a disgraced pharma executive, the U.S. Marshals Service, and finally a blockchain collective (PleasrDAO). Now, this rare recording sits at the crossroads of copyright, contract law, and the Defend Trade Secrets Act (DTSA). Listeners will hear how secrecy became the source of value, why traditional copyright doctrines fall short in this context, and what this case reveals about the future of digital ownership, exclusivity, and authenticity. Along the way, the hosts connect the dots from Banksy's self-shredding artwork to Coca-Cola's guarded formula, exploring how the world's rarest album could redefine how we protect creative works.
