In the era of Fintech disruption, it's no longer unusual to see non-mortgage tech gurus parachute into the space with a vision to revolutionize mortgage lending. What is increasingly unusual though is for one of those gurus to build something that actually works. As other Fintechs struggle to make ends meet in a contracting market, Alex Kutsishin and Sales Boomerang remain not just one of the fastest growing companies in the space, but across the entire corporate landscape. Included in lists compiled by the likes of Inc. Magazine, Deloitte, and HousingWire, Sales Boomerang's exponential growth seems poised to reach an astronomical level as they link arms with Mortgage Coach and form a new parent company positioned to steal even greater marketshare. In today's episode, I had the chance to join the Mortgage Coach Friday Mastermind with Dave Savage, Todd Bookspan, and Deborah Byrd to talk about today's real estate market and how agents can thrive through the changes. In a shifting market, it's really easy to get demoralized and slow down our activity, but our clients need us more than ever. We're going to discuss what we need to be doing right now to win and even set ourselves up to leap forward in a massive way. Dave Savage is the Founder and Chief Innovation Officer at Mortgage Coach and Sales Boomerang. He is a tech entrepreneur, mobile tech pioneer, speaker, and agent of change dedicated to helping loan officers turn the Digital Mortgage Revolution into a competitive advantage. Todd Bookspan is an entrepreneur, business leader and the founder of Win By Noon and Chairman of the Bookspan Baker team. For the past fifteen years, as a mortgage originator, Todd has proven successful in cultivating both teams and branch offices. Working alongside his wife Tara, Todd successfully helped grow the Arizona region of a mortgage bank from five to eighty-five employees at four branches. He also took the lead role in developing and designing a coaching program for originators. Following this program, Todd coached groups of loan officers for several years, helping them expand their personal and team production. During this time, Todd also successfully grew his own mortgage team into a cohesive fifteen-member group. With Todd's outstanding leadership, he led his team into the top 30 rankings for closed mortgage loans in 2015, yielding more than 540 closed loans and $113 million in volume. Deborah Byrd is a Keynote Speaker and Marketing Strategist, Mortgage Integrationist, Leader and CEO and Founder of Plug and Play SM. Plug and Play SM is a social media company that helps connect families with mortgage needs to the loan officers who care to help families get into debt smarter and use real estate to build wealth. There's absolutely no question that the market has shifted over the last few months, and that it will continue to shift. A lot of agents are going to have a hard time because they haven't changed along with the market and recalibrated their decisions and activities. Things will go one of two ways for agents - struggle to make it through the shift or emerge significantly ahead of the pack. New technologies are constantly being developed to make people’s lives easier, but there are certain apps that stick out from the rest. What makes a specific app or technology a household name? Can the apps like Uber be used to benefit the mortgage industry? On this episode, innovator and entrepreneur, Alex Kutsishin, shares how we can leverage evolving tech in the mortgage industry and look for new opportunities. Using the examples of Uber and Amazon, Alex highlights that each of these focus on building relationships with their customers. This creates a loyalty based on more than enjoying the product: there is an element of love involved. Evolution, Not Revolution (07:49- 08:21)Technology assisting people with daily modern life should be seen as evolutionary, and as what was meant to happen. We need to think of advancements as something of a norm, and something entirely necessary for businesses to thrive in a world with rapidly evolving technology. Remember- the tools for our advancement are within our reach! Technology and People (08:41- 09:15)The technology used to assist people should never impede on human life. Rather, it should compliment it. This means allowing machines to do their jobs. However, that doesn’t mean humans should be eliminated from the process. On the contrary, the most successful technology has a human side to it. The world in which we live has rapidly evolving technology, and it would be a shame for industries across the board to not take full advantage. With that said, it’s always important to remember that the users of technology remain human beings. As such, advancements should always be developed with the user in mind.
