Have you ever felt overwhelmed by the weight of your responsibilities, struggling to say no even when you know you should? Many of us were never taught how to set boundaries, and as a result, we allow situations, people, and even our own expectations to push us beyond what is healthy. Setting boundaries isn't about controlling others—it's about taking responsibility for what we will and will not allow in our lives. It's about recognizing our limits and having the courage to say, “This is too far.” Whether it's with our time, our relationships, or ourselves, boundaries are a necessary part of living with wisdom and peace. But in order to set them well, we need to understand the key factors that shape them—what we value, our personal capacity, and the reality that sometimes, setting a boundary means letting go. For us high-achievers, we often think of resilience as pushing through, powering on, and handling it all. But what if true resilience isn't about white-knuckling your way through hardship—but about allowing yourself to soften, heal, and bounce forward instead of just back?In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Neeta Bhushan, author of That Sucked, Now What?, to talk about what it really takes to move through life's hardest moments. Dr. Neeta's story is one of profound loss—losing her mother, father, and brother before she turned 19—and the journey she took to rebuild herself while navigating perfectionism, high-achiever pressure, and cultural expectations. But this isn't just about survival. It's about rewriting the way we think about resilience, breaking generational cycles, and learning how to meet life's challenges without burning ourselves out in the process. We talk about redefining strength, breaking generational patterns, and the tension between raising resilient kids while also protecting them from pain.
