Isaiah 60-64 We are in the Prophetic Stream today getting close to the end of the book of Isaiah. We are using the Good News Translation this week. 7streamsmethod.com | @7StreamsMethod | @serenatravis | #7Streams Commentary by Dr. Drake Travis The section today bursts forth as a song of the Messianic Age. The Lord is here and in full and good news is spreading over all the earth and the illustration spills right into being the glory of heaven. 60 - Isaiah is one of the greatest writers that ever lived and this is certainly among Isaiah's sections. It's even among the most wonder-filled chapters in the whole Bible. It talks of a grand gathering, people and wealth are coming to Jerusalem, the testifying, the sacrifices, it's the homecoming of history and "the LORD will make His Temple more glorious than ever " v. 7. There will be great service in Jerusalem. When the chapter morphs into talk that can only be interpreted as paradise itself with unimpeded access to God it is altogether a marvel. 61 - What we read in the first three verses of 61 is Isaiah talking of Jesus. Jesus knows it is Him and quotes this when He is speaking in the synagogue at Nazareth (Luke 4:18f). This is prophecy fulfilled 700 years later. This is a time of great restoration. The Messianic theme that actually started in Isaiah 59:20 is still proceeding. Israel will have servants, and wealth, and joy. The praises to the LORD will be coming from all nations - the testimony of what God has done in this one nation will amaze the whole earth that much. 62 - The splendor here is the imagery of a wedding. It is enchanting as a wedding also. The symbolism is matched in ways by John's writing at the end of Revelation when "the New Jerusalem" is coming down like a bride preparing to meet her husband. The surprises and excitement of a reunion also come into play too. There is food; bread and wine in abundance and phenomenal worship. Is it fine to call this a dinner/theater gone into a colossal mode?! And most of all the LORD is coming to save. 63 - there is a peculiar insertion here - a mentioning of Edom; it could be a reference to all the enemies of God and Jerusalem who will be trampled and defeated permanently. It is certainly a break in the literature to interrupt all the glory and worship and celebration to put this in such a run of wonderful things. However it is part of celebrating to defeat an enemy, and revel with our victorious LORD. Isaiah resumes abruptly; talking of the goodness and love of the LORD and his precise care and provision. The chapter ends with a prayer for mercy; beseeching God to treat them according to God's goodness v.s. their character and lack thereof. This is a theme we have seen before in Isaiah. 64 - and Shazzam, 64 arrives and we are not looking way forward to glorious things and themes and events. Isaiah just wants God to show and make himself known. Things are difficult; attitudes across the nation are crass, the city is in ruins, beautiful places have been deserted and Isaiah is pleading for the LORD to come to them.
Today we take the time to ponder a movie that never existed – but first, a drink. Our drink is Café Fizz – a coffee and booze drink.Fill a big cup with ice, add coffee liquor to taste, add a cap full of vanilla and a couple shots of spiced rum, and top it all off with ginger ale. It may sound like a conglomerate of strange ingredients, but it tastes good. Do you remember a movie in the 90’s called Shazzam starring Sinbad? Well, if you do, you are mistaken, because it simply doesn’t exist. Here’s an article about the Mandala effect, and more importantly, a tweet from Sinbad. https://www.newstatesman.com/science-tech/internet/2016/12/movie-doesn-t-exist-and-redditors-who-think-it-doesHere also is a very tongue-in-cheek confession that contains the phrase “yoga and Crisco,” which is hilarious. https://nj1015.com/sinbads-shazaam-genie-movie-he-admits-covering-it-up/In today’s down and dirty, Chryssy and Brian talk about dating in a pandemic, dating just to be with someone, dating people who have the opposite characteristics of our spouses, and how to begin to integrate someone new into your existing family unit (Note: neither Chryssy nor Brian seem to have a clue).Next week is the last stop on the dating train, then we will move into talking about parenting post-divorce.Until next time. Comics History - The Golden Age, Part 1- WWIIWhen talking about superheroes, and the choices they make or how they do what they do, a favorite topic is to wonder where they started, and how they've evolved from writer to writer, and from page to screen and back again. Today we kick off a special series in which Matthew will be joined by superhero history whiz Jess Plummer, as we trace the history and development of these caped characters. Look for new episodes about once a month.Today in our inaugural episode we’re going back to the beginning, and looking at the start of the golden age, from Superman’s first appearance, to the end of World War II. We’re talking about the Jewish origins of Superman, the gender theories of the creator of Wonder Woman, what is the nature of a hero, and why do so many of these characters have so much fun punching Nazis/Jessica Plummer lives in New York and loves Superman very very much. We will talk tonight about the phenomenon of Confabulation, define what exactly Confabulation is and is not, discuss some well-known instances of Mass Confabulation and related topics, tonight on our show. In psychiatry, confabulation (verb: confabulate) is a disturbance of memory, defined as the production of fabricated, distorted, or misinterpreted memories about oneself or the world, without the conscious intention to deceive. Many of you may have been at least peripherally aware of a couple of well known instances of Mass Confabulation – 3 of which we will discuss briefly tonight. First is the Mandela Effect. Second is the Berenstain Bears spelling conspiracy. Third is the alleged appearance of the actor Sinbad as a genie in the movie Shazzam.
The new year is upon us. Yes,the real new year, not the plagued by cold fronts and blizzards, but the time of year when flowers are in bloom, birds harmonize in unison, and the air is breathable. With it comes the merging of frequencies where those that were formerly in hibernation rise from their cocoons and take flight. This mix is both hot and cool, prompting one to dance, or perhaps sway while sitting still. Percussion and more is found with Yoruba Records gems along with UK stars 4 Hero and Omar,KJM, Ben Westbeech and an oldie but goodie for Dorian... as these passing days make up this thing called life. Shazzam the tracks, support the artists, spread liberally, and repeat.NAMASTE!

The History... Ever since there was electricity in the form of airwaves, the world has sought to communicate and project thoughts, feelings, and vibrations, with the hope of a worthy recipient on the opposite end to absorb the message. Conventional radio, originally broadcasted via towers and transmitters, became a current which could be felt and interpreted with wire antennae. This medium, often commercially driven, lucrative, and at times corrupt in practice saw its ascent, peak, and the beginning of its decline all during the 20th century. Then… the current went underground. The desire and need to be free of a federally controlled, and caste system-like monopoly gave birth to an assortment of alternative means for one to be heard. The advent of coaxial cable, fiber optics, and data flowing through phone lines revolutionized the way information, and more importantly, music… was sent and received. The Soul made a breakthrough. The Future… Satellite, cable and now Internet radio, while different in their applications, yet similar in intent, have slain the all-encompassing ogre and put the power back into the hands of the people it was meant to serve. YOU! KNOC Radio is the natural progression and brainchild of the people. KNOC (Keep Nourishing Our Communities) has emerged from the rubble to provide a voice for the unheard. Encouragement of individual expression and attentiveness to one’s Soul is the model for the next millennium through quality programs on and offline, artistic endeavors and audio on demand. A nu standard in radio has arrived. My first internet based radio show was called "Eklektika", co-hosted with comedian/filmmaker Kenny Kinds, and afterwards there was "Knocturnal Sunshine", a ray of light in the night, featuring Soul, Acid Jazz, Lounge and more. I buried the show after the passing of a dear friend at the hands of the police, and it is now reborn, infused with healing energy to make the world a better place from my stance of artivism. Indulge in this mix as it blurs genres, color lines, and periods in time....some new, some olde, an exploration at its best. No track list will be put up, if you like a song, Shazzam it, then buy it. That is all...enjoy. (Spoiler alert: Jose James, Fertile Ground, Roni Size, Marc Cary, and a couple of songs regarding the act of kissing all appear here...)
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Peace, @Large here. This is a kite. This episode is podcasted in two parts. This is part one. You may have heard the rumours by now or you may just flat out know... that this is the last episode of The Dope Joints! Hip Hop Mixshow. This is something that I both regret and am relieved to have to inform you of. I'll get to why in a minute. In the meantime check out DJ Stress', Kinetik's and my Winnipeg Hip Hop Mixshow history, so far... - DJ Stress was part of a Hip Hop Mixshow with the Aftermath Sound Crew back in 1995, which cablecasted from the University of Winnipeg. - DJ Stress, Dialog and Sunil aka Francois scored a mixshow they called The Stress Files which aired Saturday nights from the fall of 1996 to the spring of 1997 on Envol CKXL 91.1 FM from the Franco-Manitobain Cultural Centre. - DJ Stress, Dialog and Mr. Ness scored a mixshow they called Hip Hop 101 which aired Wednesday nights and later Friday nights starting in September 1998 at UMFM CJUM 101.5 FM Campus & Community Radio at the University of Manitoba. DJ Stress and Mr. Ness eventually went on to other things and myself and later Kinetik joined the show. - Dialog & I scored a second mixshow dubbed Hip Hop 201 by Jared McKetiak who was our program director at the time (and later/currently our station manager). Hip Hop 201 aired Thursday afternoons starting in September 1999. - I left Hip Hop 101 due to artistic differences in the spring of 2004 and started The Dope Spot Hip Hop Mixshow which aired Wednesday nights. - The Dope Spot began syndication on Hip Hop Fundamentalz courtesy of DJ Prizmatik. - I started podcasting The Dope Spot on www.podomatic.com in the spring of 2005 under the direction of DJ Prizmatik. - The Dope Spot began syndication on www.mixlawax.com courtesy of Lord Faz. - Call Signal co-hosted The Dope Spot in the spring of 2005. - Students of DJ Brace; Mista Banks and DJ Climax joined The Dope Spot in early 2006. - I ended The Dope Spot in the spring of 2007 to settle into a house with my girlfriend and then get married. - Kinetik took over and changed the name of Hip Hop 101 to The Joints! - Kinetik initiated our reunion and in the fall of 2008 we combined The Dope Spot and The Joints! to create The Dope Joints! Hip Hop Mixshow. Kinetik also unearthed DJ Stress around this time. - The Dope Joints! Hip Hop Mixshow aired it's final episode on July 25th, 2012. We had to end our run of college radio Hip Hop mixshow after 17 years due to many smaller reasons that all stemmed from one, and it waits for no man... TIME. We didn't just come down to the show each week and freestyle it. We'd spend each week collecting and reviewing music so that only the dopest joints we came across would not only get played, but get played properly. This was easier at first when... - we were just in school or only working part time - getting serviced meant the label or distributor had to have bank enough to not only produce enough vinyl to give some away but that they'd actually mail it to your crib (imagine how many broke willy zero record sale fakers would get weeded out if we had to go back to this system!) - There was a community of Hip Hop Mixshows that included legends that inspired if not scared you to do your best The end of the radio show isn't the end of the podcast. We'll post mixes when we can but nowhere near as regularly as we have been. You would've already realized that something was up since we haven't been podcasting weekly since last year. Ever since this "Hip Hop is dead" bullshit mentality surfaced I've been countering it with "Hip Hop didn't die, you got lazy!" I feel there's never been as much good Hip Hop out there as there is today, tomorrow there'll be even more and the next day even more. In the same way there's also more bad Hip Hop out there than ever before. It takes real effort to not only find the gems in the crates but to even know what crates to look in. Hip Hop needs torch bearers. Please do what you can to promote Hip Hop music that is made in the essence; creative, positive, talented, original and dope sounding. Kinetik's "Psychedelic Soul Shack" will continue Saturdays 11 PM to midnight central on UMFM CJUM 101.5 FM in Winnipeg, MTS Cable Channel 718 in Manitoba and online at www.umfm.com/listenonline. Stay up on it at http://www.mixcloud.com/psychedelicsoulshack/. Stay up on his grisly discoveries at http://thegrislydiscovery.blogspot.ca/. DJ Stress is talking about starting and Old School Hip Hop show on UMFM next year. Radio is part of Rukus45's genes. Bundown Sound System has taken over our Wednesday 10 PM to Midnight central time slot with their fuelGOOD Radio. Who knows what the future holds? I'm going to end this blurb with a list of thank you's that I can conveniently add to over time as I realize who I forgot. If you feel you should be on the list and I missed you, I apologize. ABOVE ALL THE BIGGEST THANKS GO OUT TO THE FANS AND LISTENERS OVER THE YEARS, I say this often "we do this for y'all." The most satisfaction I get out of doing the show is when heads hit me up to thank me or to talk about the music we play. It makes the hustle worthwhile. The second biggest thanks goes out to the artists who's music we played. The quality of the music you created forced us to find ways to share it because it was too good to keep it to ourselves and quite literally we couldn't have done it without you. Special thanks to the following for being a part of the last episode... Rukus45, Rob Crooks, Daily, Missey M, DJ Grasshopper, Allan Lorde, Gamma Krush, 007 and Jared McKetiak.
