Before the infamous Salem Witch Trials in Massachusetts, the majority of witch accusations and executions in North America took place in Connecticut. But, the Connecticut Witch Trials were once forgotten by history, and some details, records, and accounts are still largely unknown. Can the terrifyingly absurd witch trials teach us anything about humanity? On this episode of the podcast, we're joined by brother and sister, Sean and Sinead Persaud of Shipwrecked Comedy, who grew up near Salem, absorbing a lot of the witchy history of New England. Role Calling's three-part Lord of the Rings holiday special comes to a conclusion, but not before a rousing climax and several emotional endings. This week, actor/producer Mary Kate Wiles joins Ned and Caroline for a conversation all about Peter Jackson's third and final LOTR installment, The Return of the King. And boy is there a lot to discuss! From the Battle of the Pelennor Fields to the showdown on Mount Doom, the trio go deep on what makes Tolkien's world so special, which performers shine brightest in ROTK, and which scenes they can't stop thinking about. You can follow Mary Kate on Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and Patreon (@mkwiles on most social media platforms). And be sure to check out Shipwrecked Comedy's delightful new series "Headless: A Sleepy Hollow Story," which is streaming for free on YouTube as both a 10-part series and a single-cut version. Hello, listeners! I'm just popping in your feeds to let you know about my newest audio project, currently funding on Kickstarter - The Case of the Greater Gatsby. Greater Gatsby will be a brand new comedic audio mystery written by Sean & Sinead Persaud and produced by (and starring) myself, along with Shipwrecked Comedy. In it, detective duo Fig Wineshine and Ford Phillips investigate the murder of author-turned-screenwriter F. Scott Fitzgerald in 1940. Much like our 2016 webseries Edgar Allan Poe's Murder Mystery Dinner Party, The Case of the Greater Gatsby will feature real-life figures from the past in imagined circumstances in a caper that weaves fiction with history. It will feature many voices from my Anne series, such as Sean Persaud, Sinead Persaud, Sarah Grace Hart, Joanna Sotomura, Lauren Lopez, Julia Cho, and more. If you'd like to help us bring this new audio narrative to life, consider supporting us on Kickstarter at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/shipwrecked/the-case-of-the-greater-gatsby. Thank you for supporting independently made, female produced, historically inspired audio content.

Sarah's out today, so we're especially delighted to be joined by the incredible Mary Kate Wiles, of Lizzie Bennett Diaries, Shipwrecked Comedy, and web video fame! Mary Kate's first go in the NBI hot seat begins with the story of a bad liar from Alabama, which the gang turns into a heist with high rewards, deeply annoying stakes, and incredibly slow moving escapes. Then they meet the soon-to-be mother-in-law from hell and turn it into a family drama that is a trick, potentially a trap, and features the worst piggy bank of all time. Then the guys talk to Mary Kate about, among other things, the origin of Shipwrecked, the legacy of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, wearing many hats at all times, and why every actor should produce something. Plus: a new sub-genre of heists, Eugene O'Neill plays come to life, decoy invites, Timothée's Logan Lucky moment, and the Rachel Getting Married of it all. Today's Bad Ideas™: Idea #1 Idea #2 If you'd like to check out more of Mary Kate's work, follow her on Twitter and Instagram, check out The Fairly Oddparents: Fairly Odder, and go explore the fine literary comedy of Shipwrecked! I talked to Mary Kate Wiles who plays Vicky on Fairly Odd Parent's new show on Paramount Plus. We talk comedy, acting, and even baseball. You can follow Mary Kate Wiles On Social Media Instagram.com/MKWiles About Mary Kate Wiles A native of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Mary Kate Wiles has been making a name for herself in several high-profile digital projects since stepping onto the scene as Lizzie's outlandish and ultimately tragic younger sister, Lydia Bennet, in 2012's Emmy-award winning The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. Since then, Mary Kate has starred in various acclaimed projects such as I Ship It (featured at Sundance 2015), Squaresville, Spies Are Forever, and appeared alongside Sean Astin and Darren Criss in last year's Wayward Guide for the Untrained Eye. Her various digital projects boast over 125 million views and have raised over a million dollars in successful Kickstarters. Since 2016, Wiles has been a member of Shipwrecked Comedy as both actor and producer. She has led the group through three successful crowdfunding efforts - raising over $300K combined - and to festivals in Toronto, Germany, and around the United States. Wiles runs Shipwrecked with her romantic partner of many years, Sean Persaud, and his sister Sinéad Persaud. Together, they have created series such as Edgar Allan Poe's Murder Mystery Dinner Party, the recently wrapped Headless: A Sleepy Hollow Story featuring Matt Mercer (Critical Role) and John Rubinstein, and many other shorts sketches for a dedicated and loyal fanbase. Independently, Mary Kate Wiles has produced a well-received audio play podcast centering on Anne of Green Gables. She and other actors gather to read through Lucy Maud Montgomery's beloved novel. In combination with its sequel, Anne of Avonlea, they have garnered well over 300K streams. Wiles has made appearances on numerous shows in traditional media, including Young Sheldon, Code Black, and The Middle. She has also lent her voice to the female Mysterio in Disney XD's Ultimate Spider-Man.
