Blake has done it again! After bringing us cinematic gems like Surf Nazis Must Die, Bad Taste, and the legendary disasterpiece The Room, our resident connoisseur of chaos has picked another fever dream for us to unravel—Peter Jackson's Meet the Feebles. If Bad Taste showed Jackson's love for over-the-top gore, Meet the Feebles proves he was just as committed to pushing the boundaries of decency, this time with puppets.Meet the Feebles was envisioned as a satirical take on the entertainment industry, blending puppetry with extreme violence, crude humor, and dark social commentary. The project was initially planned as a television series but evolved into a full-length film when Jackson and his team realized the scope of their chaotic vision. The film was produced on a shoestring budget in Jackson's native New Zealand, with much of the work done by a small, dedicated team—including many who would later go on to work on The Lord of the Rings. The puppets were created by hand, with their grotesque designs pushing well beyond anything audiences had seen in traditional puppet-based entertainment. Despite limited distribution and a niche audience at the time of release, Meet the Feebles has since gained a cult following, solidifying its place as one of the most bizarre and audacious films in Jackson's early career. If you enjoy the show we have a Patreon, so become a supporter.www.patreon.com/thevhsstrikesbackTrailer Guy Plot SummaryIn a world... where puppets have problems just like the rest of us—only much, much worse—one variety show is about to become a full-blown disaster. Behind the curtain of The Fabulous Feebles, drug deals are going down, backstabbing is rampant, and the star of the show, Heidi the hippo, is on the verge of a total meltdown. As betrayals stack up and tensions reach a breaking point, this cast of misfit puppets hurtles toward an explosive, blood-soaked finale. From the twisted mind of Peter Jackson comes a no-holds-barred assault on good taste—get ready to Meet the Feebles!thevhsstrikesback@gmail.comhttps://linktr.ee/vhsstrikesback
Hardware (1990), Death Machine (1994), and Event Horizon (1997) The 1990s are often thought of as a decade of dread for horror fans—not because of what was on the screen, but because nothing good supposedly came out of it. Or at least, that's the typical response. But as we continue down the path to Discover the Horror, we're starting to realize that what we remember about the past isn't always accurate—whether it's based on our own memories or what we were told. When you really dig into those ten years, there's actually a lot of great stuff that came out—even just here in the U.S. And when you look beyond to international horror, it gets even better. Browse through the list and you're bound to say, “Oh yeah, I forgot about that one.” In this episode, we decided to tackle that decade and picked three titles that, as it turns out, share some very similar themes. And we think all three are well worth watching. Films mentioned in this episode: Alien (1979), Aliens (1986), Batman Returns (1992), The Blair Witch Project (1999), The Boneyard (1991), Braindead (1992), Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992), Candyman (1992), Cronos (1992), Day of the Dead (1985), Death Machine (1994), Dellamorte Dellamore (1994), The Descent (2005), Dr. Giggles (1992), Dust Devil (1992), Event Horizon (1997), Evil Dead 2 (1987), The Exorcist (1973), Faces of Death (1978), Freeway (1996), Goodfellas (1990), Godzilla (1998), Gravity (2013), Halloween (1978), Halloween H20 (1998), Hardware (1990), Hellraiser (1987), Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth (1992), High Tension (2003), I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), In the Mouth of Madness (1994), Judge Dredd (1995), Jurassic Park (1993), Lord of Illusion (1995), Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1994), Meet the Feebles (1989), Mimic (1997), Misery (1990), The Mummy (1999), Nightbreed (1990), Pulp Fiction (1994), The Princess Bride (1987), Reign of Fire (2002), The Resurrected (1991), Return of the Living Dead (1985), Return to Splatter Farm (2020), Ringu (1998), Scream (1996), Scream 2 (1997), The Silence of the Lambs (1991), Star Wars (1977), Thelma & Louise (1991), The Thing (1982), Valentine (2001), Warning Sign (1985), Willow (1988)

OMG! We're back! once again Paul and Greg attempt to reinvigorate their podcast. This time we're kicking it off with a wild movie, Meet the Feebles! This 80's Peter Jackson indie a puppet movie like no other. Before that though, lets welcome George! Paul and Greg felt they needed another person and they brought in their good friend George! He helps us get through this wackiness as we discuss multiple awkward scenes, Peter Jackson's lounging proposal of this movie, the best place to hide your passwords, and gush over one incredibly well done, but still made with puppets Vietnam flashback! all this is and more! And soon check out the video cast on our YouTube page!
Talking all about the puppet filled, hard drama comedy from Peter Jackson back in 1989, Meet the Feebles. Joined this episode with my good ole pal, Dave Candito who I've been meaning to get on the podcast for years. Well, we go deep into this fun filled ride, that is like a dark and twisted version of the Muppets. Straight outta New Zealand with all kinds of zany characters that you might find in any theater troop, yet turned up to 11 and in the form of animal puppets. Definitely not a movie you can show to anyone but that is truly what makes it special. Either you are in or you are out. So, come on by and join us on another adventure of OMO Podcast. When we have repeat guests back, they often start to develop patterns with the movies they're on to discuss. Having said this, Bad First Impression is extremely proud to welcome back Bobby Martin as our resident Explicit Nudity on Puppets Expert for a discussion of Meet the Feebles! A somewhat forgotten curio from Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson, Meet the Feebles is a... showbiz satire? Proto-edgelord parody? Softcore fetish content? Aping the framework of The Muppets, Meet the Feebles is a lot of things, but boring is definitely not one of them. Watch along as Bobby makes the case for a favorite, and I try to make sense of what I just saw. Remember to follow, rate five stars and leave a review! Obviously, many of us film fans see movies in theaters througout the year, whether it be at a national chain or at an independent, arthouse theater - or both. Some of us are even hitting film festivals, special screenings, and for the truly unhinged cinephiles, film marathons. For these kind of events to happen though, there have to be some mad geniuses behind the scenes. Those people are film programmers, and they do so much for our the culture of our fandom; from tracking down film the best quality prints available, to figuring out who owns the rights, to actually making the screenings happen. A lot of times their success comes down to the sheer passion they have for these offbeat, awkward, or just downright strange and fucked up motion pictures that makes them want to pass that along to new viewers. In other words, helping new fans Discover the Horror! One of those mad geniuses is Will Morris, who is one of the programmers for the world-famous Music Box Theatre in Chicago. Will has been programming The Music Box of Horrors a 24-hour horror marathon for close to a decade now, as well as programming their yearly January Giallo festival, and much, much more. We invited Will to come on the show to not only explain a little of what he does, but why. Get ready for a fun and wild ride. Ett herrans liv i luckan Vi ger en personligt färgad överblick av genren splatterfilm: underhållningsformen som din mamma hatar mer än att bifoga kvitto med julklappar. The son of an actor, Australian screenwriter Abe Forsythe grew up around creatives. “I spent a lot of time backstage as a kid,” he says. “Sitting in the green room, watching Dad perform. Subconsciously, it made me realize you can have a career following your creative path.” Outside of his immediate influences, Forsythe was influenced by the early work of Peter Jackson, specially a horror film called Bad Taste. “I became obsessed with it. There was something about the fact that he made that movie on his own, shot in New Zealand over four years, playing two roles himself, doing the effects himself.” This self-reliant approach, along with watching other Jackson films like Braindead with an audience, sparked something inside of Forsythe. “Seeing his progression from Bad Taste to Meet the Feebles to Brainddead to Heavenly Creatures, I thought, ‘This guy can do anything.'” “I feel like I'm still chasing how those movies and those experiences made me feel.” In his own work, Forsythe has gained some notoriety for films like Down Under, Little Monsters, and the recent series, Wolf Like Me. “I'm trying to connect to that inner child,” says the screenwriter. Blending the personal within the lanes of genre, the show is about an emotional wreck named Gary who struggles to provide for his wife after the death of his wife. This is when he meets Mary, a woman with a secret she can't bring herself to tell another being. Want more? Steal my first book, Ink by the Barrel - Secrets From Prolific Writers right now for free. Shortly after Bad Taste (1987) and well before The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), Peter Jackson directed a lowbrow Muppets parody entitled Meet the Feebles. Taking place on a puppet-run variety show comparable to what Kermit and the gang typically do, the anthropomorphic animals in this film spend a bit more time doing drugs, shooting porn, having Viet Nam flashbacks, and plotting against each other. Released to mixed reviews and indifferent box office, Meet the Feebles crawled its way to cult status after wizards and hobbits made its director a household name. Ryan is joined by Rachel for an examination of this cheap, wayward cousin of Jim Henson's oeuvre. Discussion topics include the limitations of shock humor, the purpose of satire, and which Muppet lampoons work the best. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/ryan-valentine3/support

Back in ancient times, before Netflix and Amazon Prime, before Hulu and YouTube, even before DVDs and Blu-rays, if films weren't available to you from either your local video stores, or if you wanted to see an uncut print of a movie, or even one that wasn't released on VHS, the place you could find them would be in fuzzy gray market of the bootlegs. These types of vendors were a staple to a lot of the early movie conventions, where fans could find titles that never even knew were out there. Some of us are old enough to remember being able to finally see the uncut full letterboxed version of Lucio Fulci's The Beyond, after years of suffering though only being able to see the heavily edited Seven Doors of Death. As your collection grew, you would usually start trading with others, increasing your collection even more, as well as helping to spread the love and passion of these amazing films. This is what we're discussing in this episode, so sit back and either reminisce with us, or learn about the good old days, when we were happy for a 5th generation grainy print of Anthropophagus that had the infamous fetus scene! Films mentioned in this episode: Anthropophagus aka The Grim Reaper (1980), Army of Darkness (1992), Bad Taste (1987), The Beyond aka Seven Doors of DeathT (1981), Beyond the Darkness (1979), Blood from the Mummy's Tomb (1971), Braindead aka Dead Alive (1992), Cannibal Ferox aka Make Them Die Slowly (1981), Cannibal Holocaust (1980), City of the Living Dead aka Gates of Hell (1980), A Cold Night's Death (1973), Dawn of the Dead (1978), Dellamorte Dellamore (1994), Emanuelle and the Last Cannibal aka Trap Them and Kill Them (1977), Faces of Death (1978), Female Vampire (1973), Four Flies on Grey Velvet (1971), Friday the 13th (1980), Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell (1974), The Ghost Galleon (1974), Guinea Pig: Flower and Flesh and Blood (1985), Hardware (1990), The Haunting (1963), I Drink Your Blood (1971), Jungle Holocaust (1977), Lady Frankenstein (1971), Mad Love (1935), Man Made Monster (1941), Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1994), Meet the Feebles (1989), Mondo Magic (1975), Nekromantik (1988), Nekromantik 2 (1991), Night of the Seagulls aka Night of the Death Cult (1975), Opera (1987), Return of the Living Dead (1985), The Third Eye (1966), Tombs of the Blind Dead (1972), Zombie (1979)

Another Monday of New Year, New Zealand is upon us here on Slashers Podcast! Today's episode is yet another film by Peter Jackson, Meet the Feebles from 1989. This is another film from what Doug likes to call Peter Jackson's "Trilogy of Trash," or his second feature length film (the first being Bad Taste and the last being Dead Alive). The film follows a cast entirely made of puppets who experience the sleazier side of show business while working on a variety show. This is basically parodying The Muppet Show, except there is blood, guts, bodily fluids, flashbacks of Nam and an M60 massacre to tie it altogether. As absurd and raunchy as this flick is, find out why it's one of Doug's favorites! Let us know your thoughts on this one (currently streaming on Tubi). Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Goons! Today's Monday and that means a brand new episode from your favorite horror podcast. On this episode of our New Year, New Zealand theme, Mikey and Ade are joined by special guest, Austin, to talk about 1992's Dead Alive, written and directed by none other than Peter Jackson. You may already know Peter Jackson from Bad Taste, Meet the Feebles, and a little movie about a hobbit getting lost called Lord of the Rings. He's also responsible for the 2005 remake of King Kong. The only reason I mention Kong is that there are clear references to Skull Island at the beginning of Dead Alive, so we can clearly see that Jackson is inspired by the classic Universal monster when creating this film. Dead Alive, aka Brain Dead in New Zealand and other parts of the world, follows our hero Lionel as his overbearing mother and notorious cock blocker, Vera, is bitten and infected by a Sumatran Rat Monkey. Hijinks ensue, and the horror community is blessed with one of THE most gory, goopy, gross, bloody, disgusting horror comedies ever to crawl out of the 90s. If you have not seen this film, please watch before listening, as there are a ton of spoilers, and we need you to make an informed opinion on this classic (as one of your hosts is not too keen on it. It's okay to be wrong, I guess). If you watch this episode on YouTube, you'll notice our backgrounds are Jason Voorhees related because we recorded this episode on Friday the 13th! Hope you all made the best of the holiday weekend! Feel free to let us know your favorite and least favorite of the franchise, and check out our very own co host, Jason's, comedic and poignant rating list on all the Friday 13th's posted in Instagram and Facebook! If you want to show Austin and his co hosts some love, be sure to follow them on Instagram @frightmarespodcast, Facebook and Twitter, and listen to them by following this link: linktr.ee/frightmarespodcast . It has been slightly more than 48 hours since George watched 48 Hrs. but now he is on the case in Beverly Hills where the DVD menu spoiled Eddie Murphy's presence in what George was convinced was a Chris Farley movie. I guess you can't win them all. Everything is coming together in Beverly Hills: Robocop, 48 Hrs., Bad Boys, Friday the 13th Parts 2-8, and even Fast Times at Ridgemont High. But will George welcome this charming classic for what it is or will he see it as a rehash of all the things he's already seen? Will Travis survive hearing Dan's opinion on the movie? Will Dan ever convince the folks at Vinegar Syndrome to release Funland? Will Meet the Feebles ever get the release it deserves? Tune in to find out! Hey there podcast people, before we start out the ROC is saddened by the passing of the voice of baseball Vin Scully, he was a pioneer and a great man and if you love baseball then you love this man since they go hand in hand. Also Erika's husband didn't show up so we roast him because we believe he is scared of the ROC and all we say. Erika did seem agitated during the episode, even though the drip hinted at some monthly problem's but he shhh'd him away. Also the pretty one made an appearance and he did not come without the laughs and the quips, the fellas did O'd to Sarah and they also loved Baish's new hair lol. This week the fellas reviewed Meet the Feebles and to say it was weird is a understatement but it went 100% where it was suppose to go so THE ROC says at least watch it once on YouTube just to get a feel for the Muppets. Also this weeks episode is about guilty pleasure movies, at one point the Robs locked eyes and it was weird but very very funny. Don't forget to check out the JG Lounge, Mbalm effect podcasts, also check out BBS Benford's Beautiful Soaps and stop being dirty and smell better. Also wouldn't be a ROC Podcast without mentioning that sexy ginger and also the Globe Deli because they have the best sandwiches...
