What We missed in Wrestling is back with our recap of the Great American Bash from 1990. We see the ppv debuts of Paul Orndoff, JYD, and the Iron Sheik in WCW, Lugar defeats Mean Mark( Undertaker) and the Freebirds still suck. Plus the Rock n Roll Express have no right to have a good match with Doom and do not expect us to be cheering for the Southern Boys. Oh yeah and Sting wins the WOrld Title!1

It is another week of Hidden Gem Tag Team matches on this week's PWMania Watching Rasslin Podcast! On this week's show Justin C and Heather dive into some early 1990s NWA/WCW. They start by watching the NWA United States Tag Title match from the 1990 Great American Bash between The Midnight Express and The Southern Boys. After that, it is Superbrawl 1994 and a six man Thundercage match! Give it a listen!
Clashing schedules meant the Southern Boys missed a preview show, but they're back this week breaking down all the action from Week 5 in the BAFA NFFL.
Is it a New Revolution for WCW when Sting finally gets his shot at the NWA World Heavyweight Title against long time nemesis Ric Flair? Paul E. Dangerously leads his newest charge, Mean Mark Callous, into battle against U.S. Champion Lex Luger. We've got a culture clash as the Midnight Express tangle with the Southern Boys. Speaking of white trash and culture shock, the Rock N Roll Express attempt to wrest the World Tag Team Titles from “Soul Brothas” Doom. Buddy Landel's just getting warmed up, Harley Race cheers for Sacramento, JYD's not the most useless guy in a six man tag against the Horsemen, and the Baltimore fans do the Fabulous Freebirds DIRTY on this throwback episode of Time Limit Draw.
In this episode of the Yankee Football Podcast, your favorite Southern Boys do a deep dive into the USMNT's group for the Qatar World Cup. While many fans reacted with positive excitement when the group was announced, we are much more pessimistic about our chances to progress. Absolutely zero points are guaranteed in this group that consists of the best England squad in decades, 3 formidable & organized European potentials, and an incredibly slept on Iran team. How do YOU guys think the UMSNT will do in this group? Is the Round of 16 very doable? I didn't realize until I was editing the podcast just now, that it's Tracy Smothers Birthday today. We discuss this in the podcast, but when Tracy passed away, we wanted to cover a tag team he was on, and we chose the FBI, but we really wanted to do this team. I'm happy we did it, and I'm happy that it can go up on Tracy's Birthday. Happy Birthday Tracy, we miss you.

At the beginning of a new decade, WCW was very much ushering in a new era as the 'Star of the 1980's', Ric Flair was defending the NWA World Heavyweight Title against the 'Star of the 1990's', Sting. In addition to this main event, WCW's tag team division was electric as Doom faced The Rock n Roll Express in defence of the World Tag Titles, The Midnight Express faced The Southern Boys, and The Steiners went up against The Fabulous Freebirds. All this, plus a pre-Undertaker, Mark Callaway, the WCW debut of Big Van Vader and much more... The Random Wrestling Review is brought to you by Sam Carey, Tom Smith and Ben Spindler.
Coming off of the 4th of July Weekend, Stunning Shawn is still in a celebrating mood. So, He takes David and the listeners back to WCW 1990 and chats about Sting's first title victory over Ric Flair. Jonathan Hood talks about the life and times of the late Tracy Smothers who passed away at the age of 58 with lymphoma. Hear the wild stories and the highlights of the career of a "Wild Eyed Southern Boy" twitter.com/wrestlingtwt instagram.com/wrestlingtwt Professional wrestling career Early career (1982–1990) Smothers was from Springfield, TN. He graduated from Springfield High School, where he played football, golf, and wrestled. Smothers was the first person in Springfield High School history to go to the state championship in wrestling. Smothers started his career in the Memphis promotion on Saturday morning TV. Steve Armstrong and Tracy Smothers started teaming as The Wild-Eyed Southern Boys in Florida Championship Wrestling in 1987 where they feuded with The New Breed. They moved on to Southeast Championship Wrestling where they feuded with The Stud Stable. In 1989, he won the CWF Tag Team Championship in the newly renamed Continental Wrestling Federation. While in Continental, Smothers wrestled an unmuzzled bear that was announced as 550 lbs; Tracy took the bear to the mat several times. The bear, incapable of understanding the situation, thought they were playing.[2] World Championship Wrestling (1990–1992) Smothers and Armstrong competed in World Championship Wrestling for a number of years and were known as the Southern Boys and later the Young Pistols upon turning heel.[3] Smothers and Armstrong had a long feud with The Fabulous Freebirds (Michael Hayes and Jimmy Garvin).[3] Smothers' last major appearance for WCW was on January 21, 1992 at Clash of the Champions XVIII, as he teamed with Terry Taylor in a loss to Marcus Alexander Bagwell and Brian Pillman.[3] Smoky Mountain Wrestling (1992–1995) Smothers achieved his greatest singles success in Jim Cornette's Smoky Mountain Wrestling promotion which was based out of Knoxville, Tennessee. Between 1992 and 1995, "The Wild Eyed Southern Boy", competed as a babyface for SMW and won the Heavyweight title twice, the tag team titles once (with "Dirty White Boy" Tony Anthony, known as the "T.H.U.G.'S"), and the "Beat the Champ" TV title on three separate occasions. Smothers had notable feuds during this time against "Prime Time" Brian Lee, Chris Candido, Tony Anthony, The Heavenly Bodies, and The Gangstas. He also competed as a heel in the United States Wrestling Association during the SMW vs. USWA feud in 1995. World Wrestling Federation (1996–1997) In the summer of 1996, Smothers began wrestling in the WWF as Freddie Joe Floyd, a babyface jobber to various up and comers, most notably Hunter Hearst-Helmsley and Stone Cold Steve Austin.[4] His only meaningful win under the Floyd gimmick was an upset of Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw in his debut, which resulted in Bradshaw beating Floyd in a subsequent rematch.[4] He also scored a count out win over Triple H, thanks to Mr. Perfect distracting Helmsley.[4] His entire gimmick was a rib on Gerald Brisco and Jack Brisco, as they both came from Bowlegs, Oklahoma (the same home town Freddie Joe Floyd was billed as being from).[4] Jack Brisco’s real name is Fred Joe Brisco, and Gerald’s full name is Floyd Gerald Brisco. Extreme Championship Wrestling (1997–1999) Later in his career he joined Extreme Championship Wrestling as "The Main Man" Tracy Smothers. He was often mocked by the crowd with chants of "Freddy Joe!!" regarding his WWF stint and was most notably remembered for doing a goofy dance, that ECW announcer Joey Styles often commented on by saying "what the hell is with that awful dance."

Mullets on both sides of the ring. White Guy Karate. Jim Cornette insulting fans while waving a tennis racket wildly in the air. We must be in the early 90s. This week your boys have a look at a highly touted mid-card match-up between The Midnight Express and the Southern Boys. The Boys are on a bit of a hot streak heading into this title match and it raises some questions: Can the crafty veterans manage to overcome their wild-eyed challengers? Will Beautiful Bobby's hair manage to stay attached to his head? Is someone going to tell Smothers and Armstrong that their ring gear is NOT COOL?
