Roald Dahl nunca se retractó.

WCW returns to Japan for the second WCW / New Japan Supershow - known in Japan by the much better title "Super Warriors in Tokyo Dome." Like the prior year, WCW's presenting a heavily edited and cut down version of the Japanese original - but don't worry, I'm sure they didn't cut a match featuring a legendary wrestler and then-member of the Japanese government or anything. They didn't...right? Well, what we do get for sure is a whole slew of tag matches, including a Rhodes family teamup, Arn bowing to peer pressure from Larry Zbyszko, and an array of outfits you could only possibly find on a wrestling show - plus, Sting teaming up with Great Muta with absolutely no explanation! On the singles side, Luger does have to wrestle in Japan this year, and El Gigante is back but at least this time he's with Vader. Concluyó el primer juicio en Estados Unidos contra la multinacional Chiquita Brands por la financiación a los paramilitares en Colombia, y por los crímenes cometidos. La sentencia: pagar una millonaria indemnización a 8 víctimas, de momento. Ahora, falta que la compañía recurra la sentencia o por el contrario indemnice a las víctimas. En 1997, David, un hombre que dedicaba sus días a trabajar en una plantación de bananos, fue asesinado en 1997 a manos de un grupo paramilitar de las Autodefensas Unidas de Colombia. Más tarde, los paramilitares también acabarían con la vida de su hermano y secuestraría a sus hijas; todo con el objetivo de expulsar de sus tierras a toda la familia en nombre de la empresa Chiquita Brands. Tras más de una década de litigios, una corte de Florida, Estados Unidos, condenó a los directivos de la empresa norteamericana por financiar estos atroces actos de violencia.Un hecho inédito, según Gabriela Valentín, abogada de EarthRights, uno de los grupos que presentaron la demanda. “Está es la primera vez que un jurado estadounidense responsabiliza a una corporación de Estados Unidos por su complicidad en abusos de Derechos Humanos cometidos en el exterior, en este caso en Colombia”.Los antecedentes del caso se remontan a los años 80, cuando esta multinacional bananera, quiso expandirse en varias regiones colombianas afectadas por la violencia generada por la guerrilla conocida como las FARC. Su objetivo era hacerse con los terrenos cuyos precios estaban por los suelos, pero al igual que a la ciudadanía, las FARC comenzó a amenazar a la compañía. En lugar de buscar ayuda en el ejército o la policía, Chiquita proporcionó armas y financió con 1,7 millones de dólares a otro grupo paramilitar, que emplearon también el dinero para cometer masacres que han afectado a más de 4.000 personas. “El jurado, tras escuchar todos los testimonios de las víctimas, a los funcionarios, revisar y analizar pruebas documentales y escuchar por parte de expertos, tomó la decisión de que sí, la financiación de Chiquita a las AUC causó la muerte de las víctimas, a los familiares de los demandantes”, explica la abogada y añade que en cuanto a la pregunta de si la empresa fue extorsionada para recibir esos pagos, “determinaron que no, que no hubo ninguna extorsión”. Según EarthRights, aún queda un largo camino por recorrer, ya que falta que la justicia reconozca los crímenes cometidos contra el resto de las familias afectadas.Los ocho demandantes en el juicio civil de Florida acusaron al grupo agroalimentario de pagar casi dos millones de dólares a las AUC y ayudarles a transportar armas y drogas. El jurado aceptó el argumento de que ese dinero se utilizó para cometer crímenes de guerra como homicidios, secuestros, extorsiones, torturas y desapariciones forzadas. Por eso los ocho demandantes “a lo que el jurado encontró responsabilidad por parte de Chiquita se les otorgó más de 38 millones de dólares americanos.
