On This Week's Menu: • The Chalamet Controversy: We break down Timothée's recent comments regarding the ballet and opera. Was hat uns gefallen und was weniger? The Iranian women’s team has been in Australia playing in the AFC Asian Cup and displaying extraordinary bravery in the face of significant pressure from their home country’s regime. Why have they been criticised and what might happen next? Plus, the Kyle and Jackie O “divorce” has entered its ‘it’s complicated’ era, and Jackie is finally setting the record straight on those quitting stories. There are reports her next gig might have something to do with Meghan Markle, with the Duchess heading to Sydney for some high-profile speaking gigs which are definitely not a royal tour. But hold on, last time Meghan was here, didn’t she hate it? In other business, Daryl Hannah is calling out the "crazy ex-girlfriend" trope in the new JFK Jr. series, Love Story, and it’s making us rethink our weekend binge-watch. And David and Victoria Beckham are posting "earnest" birthday tributes to Brooklyn, completely ignoring his legal threats to leave him blocked. Is this a sweet parental olive branch, or does someone need to confiscate Vicky’s phone? And Timothée Chalamet might have just lost himself an Oscar and it’s Harry Styles week all over the world. It’s unlikely those things are related but you never do know. It's an absolutely packed episode a week away from the Oscars. We're playing some catch-up with nominees and we've got one monster of a new release. Here's what we have for you: THE BRIDE! That exclamation point says it all. Writer-director Maggie Gyllenhaal's wild and bold update of "The Bride of Frankenstein" mixes tones and genres in a way that's dividing critics (including us). Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale co-star. In theaters. THE VOICE OF HIND RAJAB. The last of the five nominees in the best international feature category for us to discuss here. Tunisian filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania mixes the real-life audio of a 5-year-old Palestinian trapped in a car in Gaza with actors playing the emergency operators on the other end of the line. We don't agree on this film, either, but it has moved many audiences deeply. Available for online rental. THE PERFECT NEIGHBOR. Nominated for best documentary feature, this Netflix film is composed entirely of deputies' body cam footage of a neighborhood where a deadly shooting ripped the multicultural community apart. We think this is the front-runner for the Academy Award, if only because it's probably the one most people saw (plus, it's great). Streaming now. MR. NOBODY AGAINST PUTIN. Russian school teacher Pavel Talankin bravely documents Putin's propagandist efforts to indoctrinate young minds at the start of the Ukraine invasion. You come to really care about him and the kids in his care, particularly the teens who are facing an uncertain future. This is also up for the best documentary feature Oscar. Available for online rental. MOVIE NEWS LIVE! Another busy week between early reactions to "The Bride!", HBO Max and Paramount + merging into one streaming platform, Daryl Hannah's op-ed about how she's portrayed in Ryan Murphy's "Love Story," the "Little House on the Prairie" reboot, and Catherine O'Hara's posthumous Actor Award. Michael Douglas embodied the ruthless extremes of 1980s capitalism with his Oscar-winning portrayal of investor Gordon Gekko, the coldly calculating corporate raider who takes eager young stockbroker Bud Fox (Charlie Sheen) under his wing. "There's no nobility in poverty anymore," Bud tells his working-class dad (real-life father Martin Sheen), before embarking on a series of ethical compromises in the pursuit of quick wealth, adding an art-savvy interior designer (Daryl Hannah) to his portfolio along the way. Writer-director Oliver Stone was inspired by his own father, a longtime Wall St. broker, and several real-world financiers when he delivered this sharply critical cautionary tale, which photographs the rarified air of lower Manhattan in amber-tinted, smoke-stained hues. But the film's enduring image is that of Douglas's steely-eyed Gekko, who hungrily consumes businesses — as well as his friends and rivals — like platefuls of blood-red steak tartare.

What do you mean, you're not a subscriber yet? Solve that problem HERE. Mia & Amelia are (still) obsessed with Carolyn Bessette Kennedy (CBK) so they’re back for Part 2 of their deep dive into the TV series Love Story. From Naomi Watts’ depiction of real-life icon Jackie O to the complex roles of Darryl Hannah and the Kennedy matriarchs, they’re unpacking what it must have been like to marry into the complicated Kennedy family. Plus, Mia and Amelia examine the toxic dynamics that defined the couple’s public life and break down that infamous Central Park fight scene. Was it a moment of passion, or was it "emotional dysregulation"? They also discuss the poignant newsletter from the couple’s close friend Carole Radziwill, who explains why she refuses to watch the show and the unsettling question of whether why the dead are never allowed to rest in peace in the age of AI. It’s a raw and slightly uncomfortable look at how we consume the tragedies of the past as modern entertainment. Remember, this is your free sample of today's subs episode. Outlouders, enjoy this free bite of Mia Freedman and Amelia Lester. Catch the full conversation — Mia & Amelia On CBK: The Clothes, The Curse, The Love Story — at 5 pm TODAY. Not a subscriber yet? That can all change here. There are two kinds of people: those obsessed with Carolyn Bessette Kennedy (CBK) and those who just don’t get it. Mia Freeman and Amelia Lester are firmly in the first camp. From Calvin Klein salesgirl to the most scrutinised woman in New York, Carolyn became a 90s' style legend — without ever giving an interview. Her marriage to John F. Kennedy Jr. turned her into paparazzi prey, her minimal wardrobe into a fashion blueprint, and her silence into an industry of speculation. On today's subs episode, Mia and Amelia dive into Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette, the long-awaited dramatisation that had CBK obsessives in meltdown over wigs, hemlines and handbags. The show is a love story, but it’s also a slow-motion warning about paparazzi culture, pre-social media fame, and a woman who saw celebrity as a liability.Remember, this is your free sample of today's subs episode. Usually when you stuff too many genres into a movie, you come out with a bloated, overstuffed, pretentious turkey of a movie, but not with “Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair.” In it we get westerns, anime/manga, Kung-Fu action, exploitation movie and a pulpy bloody mess but it all fits into a 4 hour 35 minute mammoth movie, In 2003, “Kill Bill: Vol 1” was released followed by “Kill Bill: Vol. 2” in 2004 as Quentin Tarantino's 4th and 5th movies. “Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair” combines those two movies together along with some extra footage. A simple plot explanation is The Bride must kill her ex-boss and lover Bill who betrayed her at her wedding rehearsal, shot her in the head and took away her unborn daughter. But first, she must make the other four members of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad suffer. Is it worth going to the theater to see this for the extra footage, or if you haven't seen it, to see everything in this? Check out this episode to find out. “Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair” stars Uma Thurman, David Carradine, Lucy Liu, Vivica A. Fox, Michael Madsen, Daryl Hannah, Julie Dreyfus, Chiaki Kuriyama, Sonny Chiba, Gordon Liu, Michael Parks, Michael Bowen, Jun Kunimura, Kenji Oba, Yuki Kazamatsuri, James Parks, Sakichi Sato and Jonathan Loughran. On the second-to-last Roy Scheider movie of the season, we're talking DARK HONEYMOON, an erotic thriller also featuring Daryl Hannah, Tia Carrere, and Eric Roberts. The movie isn't very good, but there's a surprising amount of Scheider and it's totally bonkers, which counts for something!

This week, Mike and Mike are tackling THE POET, released in the US as HEARTS OF WAR, and this one... might just be the worst movie we've ever talked about on this podcast. Not just of this season, we mean ever. A World War II romantic epic between (checks notes) a Nazi soldier and a Jewish woman, the film stars Roy Scheider alongside Nina Dobrev, Daryl Hannah, and a conspicuous boom mic popping in and out of frame.
For over a decade, residents of a quiet Swiss village reported encounters with a figure in a gas mask and military cloak lurking in their forests—until 2013, when someone finally captured proof on camera. Days after the photo went viral, investigators found only an abandoned coat and a cryptic suicide note in the woods, leaving more questions than answers about who Le Loyon really was.Join the DARKNESS SYNDICATE for the ad-free version: https://weirddarkness.com/syndicateTake the WEIRD DARKNESS LISTENER SURVEY and help mold the future of the podcast: https://weirddarkness.com/surveyIN THIS EPISODE: Nellie Meunch was accused of kidnapping. Her ingenious scheme to beat the charges? To kidnap again. (Kidnapping, Babies, and Blackmail) *** Before we knew it as tuberculosis, most knew it as consumption – and it was almost always fatal, with those who had it seemingly being consumed by the disease, which is probably how it got its name. So it should be no surprise that homes where the disease took up residence were devastated, and whether or not they are haunted by the paranormal, they are certainly haunted by the dark memories and energies of those who were consumed there. Including one particular home a doctor in 1915 will describe for us. (Consumption Cottage) *** Norfolk's Horning Village is not your typical residential area of living – the village slips back and forth in time every five years. And one family knows that's true, because they were stuck in one of the time slips. (Timeslip Village) *** When fans of the paranormal hear the name ‘Rendlesham', the first thing that springs to mind is an incident that happened over three nights around Christmas 1980, when it was said that several spaceships visited the nearby airbase. What they don't think of is Ariel the mermaid, or Daryl Hannah from the movie “Splash”. But maybe they should. (The Mermaid of Rendlesham) *** Isabella of France is a fantastically interesting historic figure, even more so because of how little-known she is. You'd think a queen who was known as a she-wolf would be something you might have read about in history class. (Isabella: She-Wolf of England) *** But first, the figure, who is known as 'Le Loyon' has been called Switzerland's answer to the Loch Ness Monster, wears a military uniform and a thick cloak, with a gas mask covering his or her face. Who or what is he? We begin with that story. Steel Magnolias is a 1989 American comedy drama film directed by Herbert Ross and starring Sally Field, Dolly Parton, Shirley MacLaine, Daryl Hannah, Olympia Dukakis, and Julia Roberts. The screenplay by Robert Harling is based on his 1987 play of the same name about the bond a group of women share in a small-town Southern community, and how they cope with the death of one of their own. The supporting cast features Tom Skerritt, Dylan McDermott, Kevin J. O'Connor, and Sam Shepard. Harling based the story in part on his sister, Susan Harling Robinson, who died in 1985 of complications from type 1 diabetes. In the film, Roberts plays Shelby, the character based on Susan. The film was released on November 15, 1989, and received mixed reviews from critics, who praised the humor and performances but criticized its portrayal of the South. Roberts, Field and MacLaine earned nominations for their performances; Roberts (who won Best Supporting Actress) and Field at the 47th Golden Globe Awards and MacLaine at the 44th British Academy Film Awards. At the 62nd Academy Awards, Roberts earned a nomination for Best Supporting Actress (her career-first nomination)Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

Check into Castle Plunkett for a supernatural comedy that mashes together horny ghosts, Irish folklore, and peak ‘80s weirdness: High Spirits! Commissioned by Sydney in Texas—lover of Beetlejuice, Elvira, and men of questionable taste—this forgotten flick from 1988 boasts an absurdly stacked cast: Steve Guttenberg, Daryl Hannah, Beverly D'Angelo, Peter O'Toole, Jennifer Tilly, and a young Liam Neeson playing a ghostly creep. Gene and Big D dive into a movie that's half Scooby-Doo, half ghost-sex fever dream. They explore the film's jarring tonal shifts, from slapstick hauntings to surprisingly dark (and wet) ghost lore, complete with a mermaid musical battle and “skelping”—a euphoric ghost-human contact that raises some ethical eyebrows. Is High Spirits an underrated gem or a tonal trainwreck haunted by studio meddling? Would Jack have stayed loyal to his ghost bride if she kept her crumbling corpse form? And why are the castle's real ghosts so damn lazy? Strap into your flying bed, pour a spooky drink, and join us for an episode packed with laughs, lusty spirits, and longing for the Japanese director's cut.
