They were selected to represent Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with the song "Solovey". Due to the Corona Pandemic that hit the globe in 2020 the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 was cancelled, however, GO_A kept the right to represent Ukraine in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, however, with another song called "Shum" which came 5th in the Grand Final. The Interview Team of Radio International met Kateryna at the Madrid Eurovsion Pre Party 2024 and you can hear this interview on the show this week. Eurovision Weekend 2024:  The first Eurovision event after the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 itself if the Eurovision Weekend 2024 out of Hamburg hosted by the Hamburg branch of Eurovision Club Germany e.V.. The event will include the FanVision Song Contest 2024 where young artists from different countries perform a cover of a Eurovision Song. The organisers received about 16 entries to this contest and a jury as well as public audience of the Eurovision Weekend 2024 will vote for the performances and the winner of which will decide in which country the Eurovision Weekend 2025 will be held. The Winning Act in 2023 was Germany with Mirko Bulian and Maxima Love performing their own version of "My Way" originally by Tone Sekelius from Sweden's Melodifestivalen. In the run up to the event, Radio International will be interviewing the contestants to showcase the artists. This week meet the final remaining participating acts from Malta, Poland and Slovenia. In addition, not only Frank and Salman who are the brain behind the Eurovision Weekend will be joining JP in the studio but also members of the organisational team from Hamburg to give us all the details what is planned around the Eurovision Weekend 2024 in Hamburg. Andorra came 18th in the ever first Semi Final and did not advance to the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest. In fact, Andorra only took part six times in the Eurovision Song Contest with the last entry being in 2009 with Susanne Georgi and the song "La teva decisio (Your decision)", never reaching the Grand Final. The Interview Team of Radio International met Marta at the Madrid Eurovsion Pre Party 2024 and you can hear this interview on the show this week. It was in 2010 with the song "Je ne sais quoi" which came 19th in Oslo. Then in 2024 Hera Bjoerk returned to the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmoe, Sweden with the song "Scared of Heights" sadly failing to qualify for the Grand Final. In 2009 she attempted to represent Denmark at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Someday" coming second to Brink who then went to represent Denmark in Russia. Herea, however, did get the chance to go to Moscow in 2009 as being one of the Backing Vocalist for Yohanna on "Is it true" coming second for Iceland. Hera will also be special guest on the upcoming edition of the Eurovision Weekend 2024 in Hamburg, Germany on 12 - 14 Jul 2024. This interview was conducted by Alain Forrotti, the Radio International radio colleague from Luxemburg at Eurovision 2024 in Malmoe.   Eurovision Spotlight: The Eurovision Song Contest 2024 - The Assessment:  As every year after the Eurovision Song Contest the Radio International Experts share their opinion of the annual music spectacular so also this year as Eurovision Lordship Marcus Keppel-Palmer closed out this series of the Eurovision Spotlight looking at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 from his point of view.   Tribute to Francoise Hardy (Monaco 1963): Sad news hit the world with the passing away of Francoise Hardy who represented Monaco at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1963 with the song "L'amour s'en va" which came 5th at the end of the evening's voting. The victory of that particular Eurovision Song Contest in 1963 went to Denmark with the song "Dansevise" performed by Grethe and Jorgen Ingmann. Besides being a singer Francoise Hardy also was an actress, songwriter, author...Shey remains one of the best-selling singers in French history, and continues to be regarded as an iconic and influential figure in both French pop and fashion. Radio International will broadcast a tribute to Francoise Hardy on the show this this week.   Eurovision Weekend 2024:  The first Eurovision event after the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 itself if the Eurovision Weekend 2024 out of Hamburg hosted by the Hamburg branch of Eurovision Club Germany e.V.. Mirko Bulian and Maxima Love Winners of the FanVision Song Contest 2023 for EV Germany   The Eurovision Weekend 2023 took place on 15 July 2023 in the capital of Chechia, Prague. Part of the Eurovision Weekend is the FanVision Song Contest where Europe's Eurovision Fan Clubs send in a singing act to represent them in the contest. An international jury as well as public voting after all the participating countries' songs have been performed decided the winner in true Eurovision style and the winner for a second time is Mirko Bulian and Maxima Love for Eurovision Club (EC) Germany with the song "My Way" which was originally performed by Tone Sekelius in Melodifestivalen 2022 reaching 5th place in the Grand Final. Mirko and Maxima Love performed the song in their own way. Ahead of this year's final of Melodifestivalen, Sweden's national final, Andy & Ryan give their take on this year's finalists. They're paying extra special attention as this year they're actually going to be in the audience in Stockholm cheering and whooping from the tenth row. Until Heat 4 it was perhaps fair to say that this year's Melfest might not be as strong as the last 2 years, but the long-awaited return of Loreen seems to have turned everything around. Either that or it's just the fact that we can finally listen to them all on Spotify and play them continuously. But we're getting ahead of ourselves, let's explain the format of the episode… We're going to play and score 10 songs in total. The eight finalists and two semi-finalists. As we write the semi-final has yet to happen, but when this episode goes out, you will know which 4 acts progressed to the final. We only chose two - one each - as we hadn't realised four acts would make it through from the semi-final, but, no matter, we're confident that we chose the best ones anyway. If we'd known though we would have also reviewed Kiana and Nordman. We wonder if we picked the right four? Onto the songs. We start with Tone Sekelius who walked the Heat 1 voting and reminded us why we fell in love with her when she sang My Way last year. Then there's perennial performer, Swedish-Sámi singer and jojkare, Jon Henrik Fjällgren with Arc North feat. Adam Woods with Where You Are which won Heat 1. Country duo Tennessee Tears won Andys' heart in Heat 2 and are his pick of the semi-finalists, while Theoz's pop sunshine track Mer av dig is Ryan's favourite to progress from the semis. Football chant On My Way from Panetoz is next, followed by Ukrainian Maria Sur who blew everyone away with her confident performance a few weeks ago. Then we have Paul Rey with Royals, the lyrics of which Andy has probably looked into a little too deeply, and Norwegian duo Marcus & Martinus, winner of Heat 3, whom the Swedes seem to have really taken to despite their ill-fitting trousers. Linkin Park-meets-Evanesence band Smash Into Pieces rocked their way into the final, but were ultimately no match for the stupendous Loreen whose vocals and stage presence made her performance everyone's highlight of Melfest 2023. Could she even be a contender for the Eurovision crown?! När hon var sju år frågade klasskompisarna om hon var tjej och desto längre tiden gick byttes frågorna ut mot skällsord. ''Jävla bög'' blev vardag. Om inte, som Bianca och Tone beskriver det, ''samhället kom emellan'' kanske de hade insett mycket tidigare att de var trans. Men Bianca och Tone var för upptagna med att passa in. Något som gav konsekvenser som idag inte går att ta tillbaka. Man kan inte spola tillbaka en manlig pubertet. När de tillslut kom till insikt och vågade komma ut möttes de av nästa utmaning: vården. Som många andra transpersoner slussades de in i ett system med långa köer i väntan på att deras liv skulle börja. Ett slag i ansiktet. Tone berättar om ilskan, förvirringen och ångesten som hon har brottats med dagligen under resan till att hitta sin identitet som transperson. Vi pratar om vikten av att ha stöd från familj och vänner, att våga släppa kontrollen, vara sig själv och leva i nuet. Om att våga vara den man är i ett samhälle där långt ifrån alla accepterar eller har en tolerant syn på transpersoner. Vi får även sällskap av bästa vännen Chloé Lillo, som var den Tone först kom ut till.
