That is because the song was co-written by Balbriggan school teacher and singer-songwriter Ben Pyne, who joins Andrea to discuss! 98fm's Russell Alford also joins to discuss Ireland's chances.

Fáilte ar ais chuig eagrán nua de Ar An Lá Seo ar an 5ú lá de mí Bealtaine, liomsa Lauren Ní Loingsigh. I 1978 tháinig an nuacht amach go mbeadh athruithe chuig rialachán foirgníocht agus go mbeadh an costas de na tí nua ag dul suas 50%. I 1989 tháinig sé amach nach raibh na daoine a raibh ag bunú gnó nua ag úsáid an airgid a thug an rialtas dóibh I gcóir an ghnó nua, bhí siad ag úsáid é I gcóir rudaí eile. I 1994 nuacht iontach do chumadóir amhrán Brendan Graham mar scríobh sé Rock n Roll Kids agus chan Paul Harrington agus Charlie McGettigan é ag an Eurovision agus bhí sé seo an tríú bua a bhí ag Éire nuair a bhí sé ar siúil I mBaile Átha Cliath. I 2012 dúradh le daoine a raibh ina chónaí in eastát I Ros Cré go gcaithfidh siad a tí a fhágáil de bharr gur tharla pléasc cúpla céad méadar ón eastát. Tháinig an Fhoireann Airm Diúscairt Buamaí chun déileáil leis. Sin The Bee Gees le Night Fever – an t-amhrán is mó ar an lá seo I 1978. Ag lean ar aghaidh le nuacht cheoil ar an lá seo I 1969 tháinig The Beatles amach lena amhrán Get Back I Meiriceá. Tháinig John Lennon amach I 1980 agus dúirt sé go raibh roinnt rudaí faoi Yoko Ono agus dúirt sé go raibh Paul McCartney ag féachaint uirthi nuair a bhí siad sa stiúideo le chéile agus é ag canadh roinnt liricí. I 2016 tháinig The Rolling Stones amach agus chuir siad cheist ar Donald Trump gan a amhráin a sheinm I rith a fheachtas uachtaránachta. Tháinig siad amach ag rá nach raibh cead aige a amhráin a úsáid. D'úsáid Trump amhrán a tháinig amach I 1969 'You Can't Always Get What You Want' cúpla uair. Agus ar deireadh breithlá daoine cáiliúla ar an lá seo rugadh amhránaí Craig David sa Bhreatain I 1981 agus rugadh amhránaí Adele sa Bhreatain ar an lá seo I 1988 agus seo chuid de amhrán. Beidh mé ar ais libh amárach le heagrán nua de Ar An Lá Seo. Welcome back to another edition of Ar An Lá Seo on the 5th of May, with me Lauren Ní Loingsigh 1978: strict government building regulations were to increase the cost of new houses by up to 50 per cent. 1989: it was confirmed that some people who recieved government cash to help them set up in business did not use all the money for its intended purpose. 1994 - The target was finally hit for Nenagh's songwriter BRENDAN GRAHAM born in Kickham, when Rock n Roll Kids' sung by Paul Harrington and Charlie McGettigan cruised to a third successive Eurovision Song contest win for Ireland at the Point in Dublin. 2012 - RESIDENTS of an estate in Roscrea had to be evacuated from their homes while a viable bomb was exploded only a few hundred meters from where they lived. An Army Bomb Disposal Team dealt with the object. That was The Bee Gees with Night Fever – the biggest song on this day in 1978 Onto music news on this day In 1969 The Beatles single 'Get Back' was released in the US. John Lennon claimed in 1980 that "there's some underlying thing about Yoko in there", claiming that Paul McCartney looked at Yoko Ono in the studio every time he sang "Get back to where you once belonged." 2016 The Rolling Stones told Donald Trump to stop playing their songs during his presidential campaign. The band issued a statement saying that the US presidential candidate did not have permission to use the band's music. Their 1969 hit 'You Can't Always Get What You Want' had been a particular favourite during his campaign. And finally celebrity birthdays on this day – singer Craig David was born in the UK in 1981 and singer Adele was born in the UK on this day in 1988 and this is one of her songs. I'll be back with you tomorrow with another edition of Ar An Lá Seo.

Lynyrd Skynyrd was a success with their debut album, and continued to build a fan base when they opened for The Who on their Quadrophenia tour. Many of the songs on their debut album were staples of their concerts in Jacksonville, Florida, where they had built their style over the years since the 60's. Therefore it was not a sure thing that they would be able to sustain their success over time. Those concerns were put to rest when they released their second album.Second Helping, a southern colloquialism for getting more of the same thing at the dinner table, cemented Lynyrd Skynyrd as the flag bearer for the Southern Rock genre. At a time when a number of British artists - most notably the Rolling Stones - were digging into the rock and blues music of the American South, Lynyrd Skynyrd was the real thing. They rode the power of their triple guitar set and the wit of Ronnie Van Zandt's lyrics to a commercial success, with the album going to number 12 on the Billboard 200 chart and certified as gold by September 1974. While contemporary critics were more lukewarm, those reviews have been revised way upward over time. Second Helping also contains the biggest hit of the group as well, the Southern anthem "Sweet Home Alabama."Lynyrd Skynyrd would go on to produce many more hit songs and records in the southern rock genre before tragedy took front man Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines, and backup singer Cassie Gaines in October 1977. But Second Helping is the album that solidified their standing as an internationally successful band.Wayne takes us through this album for this week's podcast, and Brian Dickhute joins us in Bruce's absence. The Needle and the SpoonThis song would not be the only anti-drug track in the Skynyrd discography. The lyrics describe a man coming out of rehab, and makes use of a wah wah pedal effect that was not common to most of Skynyrd's music, but fit with the heroin subject of the song. Swamp MusicAlthough not released as a single, this song got plenty of air play on FM radio, as did most of the tracks on this album. This fast -paced track describes life in the Florida swamps. The members of Lynyrd Skynyrd were well acquainted with outdoor life, fishing for catfish, hunting, and other "redneck" activities.Sweet Home AlabamaEveryone knows this anthem of Southern rock. This song was written in response to Neil Young's "Southern Man," in which the band felt like the entire Southern United States was blamed for slavery. Between the hook of the leading riff and the catchy lyrics, this song has become a staple of classic rock. This is Skynyrd's only top 10 hit, as it went to number 8 on the US charts. Interestingly, none of the band members are from Alabama.Don't Ask Me No QuestionsGary Rossington and Ronnie Van Zandt wrote this song during a fishing trip. Many think this is about a relationship, but it was a message to the record managers who were apathetic towards the band during the early days, but who turned demanding after they were a success. ENTERTAINMENT TRACK: Main theme from the television series, "Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C."In this sitcom spin-off from "The Andy Griffith Show," Jim Nabors plays the lovable but naive Gomer Pyle, now enlisted into the Marine Corp. Frank Sutton, who played Sergent Carter in this series, passed away in June 1974. STAFF PICKS:Help Me by Joni MitchellRob starts the staff picks with a single from Mitchell's sixth studio album, "Court and Spark." This track is Mitchell's biggest single, and her only song to crack the top 10 in the US, going to number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100. The lyrics describe a singer who knows she is falling for the wrong man, but is either powerless to stop it or doesn't want to call things off.Dancing Machine by the Jackson 5Brian brings us a song that hit number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 after a multi-year dry spell. The Jackson 5 appeared on "Soul Train" performing this song, and Michael Jackson introduced the world to "the robot" dance routine. The Jackson 5 had a Saturday morning cartoon which kept the group in the public conscious.Waterloo by ABBALynch features the song that made ABBA a household name when the Swedish group won the 1974 Eurovision Song contest singing this tune. The lyrics compare falling in love to Napoleon's defeat at Waterloo. The name "ABBA" comes from the first letter of each of the singers' names.Tell Me Something Good by RufusWayne presents a funky song from a group featuring Chaka Kahn as lead vocalist. Rufus is a one-hit wonder, with this song peaking at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. Stevie Wonder wrote this song about a woman looking for a deeper relationship, not just a one night stand. It was the first hit song that utilized the vocoder. INSTRUMENTAL TRACK:Dance with the Devil by Cozy PowellWe close out with a drum instrumental based on Jimi Hendrix' "Third Stone from the Sun." Der Eurovision Song Contest 2025 wird am 13., 15. und 17. Mai 2025 in Basel stattfinden. Danke. 2016 wurde sie mit "If Love Was A Crime" Vierte. Jänner in München. Poli Genova nahm 2011 in Düsseldorf erstmals für Bulgarien teil. 2016 versuchte sie es nochmals und "If Love Was A Crime" und ihre Erfahrung von 2011 trug erfolgreiche Früchte und sie erreichte nicht nur das Finale sondern 4. Platz.

I just have to go ahead and admit I don't understand Will Farrell. I still like him but I don't get him. He is awesome at what he does, until he isn't. In the last 10 or so years he's way more isn't than is. He had a strong run with some great movies with a few bombs in between. If you look over his career and count the good verse the bad his good ones are about 1 in 4. So basically 25% of his movies are really good, and 75% range from iffy to horrible. I used to excuse his bad movies by saying he is fearless when it comes to comedy, and that he is not afraid to take chances. That is no longer an excuse. The great movies he made shows his potential, and it shows that he knows what is funny. Sadly this Eurovision thing is not going to be his comeback movie. The movie is based on The Eurovision Song contest they have every year. The movie opens up in 1974 in Husavik Iceland a small fishing village. Everyone has gathered to watch the contest. There is actual footage of Abba performing in the contest that they won singing Waterloo. A young boy named Lars is captivated by the show and vows to his friends and family that he is going to win that contest someday. He is joined in his adventure by a childhood friend named Sigrit. We fast forward many years and Lars, played by Will Farrell, and Sigrit, played by Rachel McAdams, are singing some crazy song called Volcano Man. Lars' dad played by Pierce Brosnan comes in and tells them to be quiet and tells Lars that he is wasting his life and not only has no chance to win the contest, but he will never amount to anything. Lars' entire life is devoted to winning that contest, and Sigrit's entire life is devoted to Lars. But alas, her love for Lars is not reciprocated. This is impressed upon us every time someone asks if they are brother and sister Lars replies “more than likely not”, and Sigrit says “absolutely not!” This is a running joke, which becomes endearing more than funny along the way. A series of events, and not their singing talent, gets them to the tryouts, where everything that could go wrong, does go wrong. But they manage to get to the finals via a weird stroke of luck. Which is one of the funnier moments in the movie. The movie is a really long 2 hours and 3 minutes. It's Rated PG-13 for crude sexual material and some violent images, along with language. I think when Farrell was writing this he envisioned Blades of Glory but it doesn't come close. First, not many Americans are familiar with the Eurovision Song contest. B. The actual contest is so over the top with elaborate costumes and such it is already a satire of itself. It would be like making a movie about the bad singers they used to show on American Idol. It's really hard to be ironic about something that is already ironic. There are a couple of huge production numbers that contain actual winners of past Eurovision competitions. The movie can't decide if Lars and Sigrit can sing or not. They are supposed to be horrible, but then they are not. Lars' terrible accent seems to come and go, and I'm not sure if it's on purpose or if he is just lazy and wanted to get it over with. I know I did. My Score: 2 Buds Learn more about your ad choices.
