Members of the Radio International Team were on location and conducted interview with some of the acts. Meet more Stars of Eurovision 2026 this week.     Bzikebi (Georgia 2026) with JP at Eurovision in Concert 2026 in Amsterdam   Interview with Bzikebi (Georgia 2026):  It was in 2008 when the seeds wee planted as group Bzikebi were created out of Georgi and two ladies both called Miriam as little wasps not only representing Georgia at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2008 but also winning the contest with the song "Bzzzz". Now 18 years on the three members have grown and once again will represent Georgia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 with the song "On Replay".  Radio International's JP had the big pleasure meeting the three once again at the recent edition of the Eurovision in Concert in Amsterdam. Listen to the interview on the show this week.        Felicia (Sweden 2026) with JP at the London Preview Event 2026 Interview with Felicia (Sweden 2026): The Winner of Sweden's Melodifestivalen 2026 will automatically also represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. Sweden together with Ireland are the most successful countries winning the Eurovision Song Contest with seven victories to boot. Will Felicia be able to snatch the eighth victory for Sweden at this year's Eurovision Song Contest?  Felicia will be performing the song "My System" in Semi Final 1 at Song Number 2. Radio International's JP and Salman met and did a catch-up interview with Felicia at the recent edition of the London Preview Event 2026 on 19 Apr 2026. Listen to the interview on the show week.    Alicja (Poland 2026) with JP at the London Preview Event 2026 Interview with Alicja (Poland 2026): In 2020 when the Eurovision Song Contest was canceled by the EBU due to the Corona Pandemic hitting the globe Alicja had already won her national final in Poland before the Covid outbreak. At that time Alicja Szemplińska she won the national final with the song "Empires". In 2023, Alicja attempted again to get the ticket to the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "New Home" coming 6th in the Polish National Final.  At long last in 2026 Alicja was chosen to represent Poland at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Pray". It will be competing in Semi Final 1 Song Number 14. Radio International's JP and Salman had the pleasure to meet and interview Alicja at  the London Preview Event 2026. Enjoy meeting Alicja once again on the show this week.      Alexandra Capitanescu (Romania 2026) with JP at the London Preview Event 2026, London, United Kingdom   Interview with Alexandra Capitanescu (Romania 2026):  Romania took a couple of years break before deciding to return to the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 with Alexandra Capitanescu and her group to represent Romania with the song "Choke Me" which will be performed in Semi Final 2 at Song Number 3 which will be on Thursday 14 May 2026. Radio International's JP and Salman met the delegation at the London Preview Party and conducted an interview. Get to know Alexandra and the group in this week's edition of Radio International.  Eurovision Song Contest 2026 - Semi Final 1: This is the final edition of Radio International before the Team will be heading out to Vienna, Austria - Home of the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 and in view of  Semi Final 1 of the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 to be staged on Tuesday, 12 May 2026, Radio International will be playing all the songs competing in Semi Final 1 in full in the order as they will be performed during the live show on Tuesday including interviews mentioned above.      Boggie (Hungary 2015) in 2026 Interview with Boggie (Hungary 2015):  It was in 2015 when the Eurovision Song Contest came from the very same venue where the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 will be staged - the Wiener Stadthalle. Back then Hungary was represented by Boggie with the song "Wars for nothing" which made it from the Semi Final into the Grand Final were it ended up at Number 20. Boggie has been busy over the years creating and writing new songs and has recently released a brand new album from wich she lifted her brand new song entitled "Ce Reve".  Radio International's John Dawton interviewed Boggie and you can hear this interview on the show this week plus of course her Eurovision entry 2015 and "Ce reve". Meet more Stars of Eurovision 2026 this week.     Delta Goodrem (Australia 2026) with JP at Eurovision in Concert 2026 in Amsterdam   Interview with Delta Goodrem (Australia 2026):  The biggest calibre that is sent in from Australia to the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 is Delta Goodrem who is a mega music star and actress ("Neighbours"). The song that Delta will represent Australia with is entitled "Eclipse" and will be Semi Final 2 Song Number 11.     Cosmó (Austria 2026) at Eurovision in Concert 2026 in Amsterdam     Interview with Cosmó (Austria 2026):  Representing Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 is 19 year old or young Cosmó who like the Big 4 (this year) is directly qualified to compete in the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 to take place on Sat 16 May 2026 due to JJ's victory at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 with the song "Wasted Love". The Host Nation Austria as well as the Big 4 (5) Countries are directly qualified to the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest2026.  Cosmó will performthe song "Tanzschein" at Song Number 25. Lion Ceccah (Lithuania 2026) with at Eurovision in Concert 2026 in Amsterdam Interview with Lion Ceccah (Lithuania 2026):  An amazing singer and performer is Lion Ceccah who will be representing Lithuania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 with the song "Solo quiero mas" in Semi Final 1 Song Number 12. Lion went through the tough national final in Lithuania and won it and with this the ticket tand the right to represent Lithuania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. Radio International's JP met Lion at Eurovision in Concert 2026 in Amsterdam and conducted an interview with the singer appearing in the silver colour. Get to know Lion Ceccah in the interview on the show this week.      Satoshi (Moldova 2026) with JP at Eurovision in Concert 2026 in Amsterdam   Interview with Satoshi (Moldova 2026):  What a bundle of energy Moldova will send to the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. Satoshi will be opening up the contest in Semi Final 1 being Song Number 1 competing with the song "Viva Moldova" on Tuesday, 12 May 2026. Part of Satoshi is Aliona Moon who represented Moldova at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 with the song "O Mie (One Million)". At the recent edition of Eurovision in Concert 2026 in Amsterdam JP had the pleasure of an interview with with energizers from Moldova. On the guest list was Bojana Stamenov (Serbia 2015), Marc Roberts (Ireland 1997),  Renanta Domkovska (Poland 1998), Marc Dietrich was Peter, Sue and Marc (Switzerland 1971, 1976, 1979 and 1981) as surprise guest and Gunvor (Switzerland 1998). The Interview Team of Radio International had the pleasure to conduct interviews with all the artists which you will hear on the shows throughout the summer of 2025. This week we start broadcasting the interview with Gunvor who in 1998 represented Switzerland with the song "Lass ihn" which ranked 25th at the end of the Voting Sequence in the Final. On the guest lists among other were also Jerry Heil who represented Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 together with Alyona Alyona with the song "Teresa and Maria" coming 3rd in the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024.  Marc and JP from Radio International ad the pleasure to obtain an UpDate Interview with Jerry Heil you can hear on Radio International this week.  Destiny (Malta 2021 and Junior ESC Winner 2015, Malta)   Interview with Destiny (Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025): During the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025 earlier on in February 2025 JP bumped into Destiny who represented Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands with the song "Je me casse" which came 7th in the Grand Final. In 2020, Destiny was selected by X-Factor Malta to represent Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "All of My Love". The Eurovision Song Contest 2020 was cancelled due to the Corona Pandemic and Destiny got the chance to represent Malta at Eurovision 2021. Already previously she won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with the song "No, not my Soul". At the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025 Destiny coached some of the participating artists and JP took the chance of an interview which you can hear on Radio International this week.    Matthew Cilia (Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025)     Interview with Matthew Cilia: On Sat. 08 Feb 2025 Miriana Conte and her song "Kant" (now "Serving") was selected by the jury and Maltese public to represent Malta at the Eurovision Song Contetest 2025 in Basel in May. Miriana successfully placed Malta in the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest ranking 17th at the end of the voting sequence. Earlier on in February 2025, Radio International conducted interviews with all the contestants at the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025 and more. This week, Radio International will broadcast an interview with Matthew Cilia who participated in Semi Final 1 of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025 but unfortunately did not qualify for the Grand Final. The event will include the FanVision Song Contest 2024 where young artists from different countries perform a cover of a Eurovision Song. The organisers received about 16 entries to this contest and a jury as well as public audience of the Eurovision Weekend 2024 will vote for the performances and the winner of which will decide in which country the Eurovision Weekend 2025 will be held. The Winning Act in 2023 was Germany with Mirko Bulian and Maxima Love performing their own version of "My Way" originally by Tone Sekelius from Sweden's Melodifestivalen. In the run up to the event, Radio International will be interviewing the contestants to showcase the artists. This week meet the final remaining participating acts from Malta, Poland and Slovenia. Lovisa got her start to bike touring while backbacking through Guatemala when she decided it would be more fun on a bike. Selling most of her gear and strapping what was left onto the bike led to a multitude of adventures and challenges. When the Corona Pandemic shuttered international travel, she went back to Sweden to build a new touring rig and plan her next adventure. Having now travelled throughout Europe crossed N. Recent events of social and community upheaval in the USA and Israel are examined through the general lens of Ego Psychology. Misguided coping strategies with the anxiety spawned by the Corona Pandemic are seen as contributing to the unraveling of the social fabric globally, resulting in general discord, eruptions of violence, and vocal intergroup hatred. Rabbi Kivelevitz suggests that the failure of these strategies has been the primary fuel for the destruction associated with BLM protests, election-related conspiracies, the erosion of civility in politics, and group-engendered dangerous health practices. Prof. Juni spells out adaptive and disruptive psychological Defense Mechanism options which we all use to deal with in coping with personal, family, and prolonged crisis situations, and outlines specific stances which are most likely to protect individuals and families from decompensation. EPISODE 179 There is no way to downplay the risks to U.S. frontline workers during the COVID-19 pandemic—and I've dug into that in the past month or so, in our various segments talking about workers in health care, postal service, hog and poultry processing, airlines, rail, and subways. It's dangerous and frightening—and it's exponentially more terrifying when you look at the global threat to workers. Think about what tens of millions of workers in poorer countries, with far fewer resources, are facing. The images coming out of Africa, Asia and South America showing huge migrations of workers are mind-boggling—how do you even wrap your mind around how to achieve social distancing at bus depots in India, crammed with huge crowds of migrants, who are desperately trying to get home because they have nowhere to go as industries have shut down in the pandemic. Or, consider Haiti, the poorest country in this hemisphere—close your eyes and think of garment workers who pack into tap-taps (those are public minibus transports) to ride to factories that are teeming with people, that on a good day, are dangerous, risky places to work—and, then, arriving at a factory to find that the employer is forcing workers to sign a piece of paper that says if the worker gets sick that worker is legally responsible for their illness. Shawna Bader-Blau, executive director of the Solidarity Center, joins me to paint the global picture. And, then, courtesy of the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health (National COSH), it's the Dirty Dozen of the Corona Pandemic, and a few other dishonorable mentions—companies like Amazon and Tyson Foods who, surprise, put profits over the safety and health of workers, along with big corporate lobbyists who work hard to block paid sick leave. I chat with Peter Dooley, a National COSH leading workplace safety and health expert, about the Dirty Dozen, and we also discuss a model framework for how to make sure workers stay safe in the pandemic.
