The Van Zant musical dynasty built its foundation firmly on family. Donnie Van Zant co-founded .38 Special and brother Johnny Van Zant is the current lead vocalist for Lynyrd Skynyrd after the passing of their brother Ronnie Van Zant, who fronted and co-founded the iconic Rock and Roll Hall of Fame rock band. But throughout their four decades of climbing the southern rock and country charts together and separately, faith has stayed just as important of a factor in the equation, so much so that the guys decided to finally share their inspirational side with the upcoming new album. “This has been on our bucket list for quite some time to do a gospel record,” says Donnie of the sessions that started during the pandemic. “We're both big believers in Jesus Christ, so that's really how it started.” In spite of their enormous successes, much of what makes Van Zant so relatable is the fact they'll be the first to admit their flaws and struggles. Southern rock icons Van Zant have reunited and released their first new album in nearly two decades. Always Look Up is the duo's first foray into Christian music, while holding firm to their southern rock roots. Available on CD, vinyl and streaming, Always Look Up is available everywhere today from Frontiers Music SRL. vanzantband.com @vanzantband christianmusicguys.com @christianmusicguys

Welcome to a transformative episode of Right on Radio! In this Friday show, our host delves into the challenges of reporting bad news and the power of repetition in driving home crucial points. Despite initial reluctance, the episode promises to end on a high note with an exciting musical revelation. First, we hear an impactful commercial from RFK Jr.'s team addressing the chronic disease epidemic and the concept of independence from mainstream media narratives. The host also acknowledges the support of loyal listeners and discusses the importance of maintaining the show's momentum despite seasonal dips in engagement. The episode features a profound clip on the theological implications of abortion, juxtaposing the sacrament of Satan with the teachings of Christ. This deeply moving segment is followed by a spiritual exercise where listeners are invited to choose between two powerful Bible verses, Ephesians 2:19 and John 1:1, with the latter resonating overwhelmingly with the audience. The show then shifts to current events and predictions, highlighting financial instability, potential wars, and the strategic movements of global powers. Notably, the host discusses Warren Buffett's significant withdrawal from Bank of America and the looming economic collapse. The episode also touches on spiritual themes, including the potential rise of Kamala Harris and the prophetic words of Kim Clement. In a lighter segment, the host shares a personal story about the band Lynyrd Skynyrd, theorizing their unique standing in the music industry. This leads to the much-anticipated reveal of a new song by the Van Zant brothers, blending epic rock and roll with gospel themes. As the episode concludes, listeners are reminded to put on the armor of God, stay grounded in their faith, and prepare for the uncertain times ahead. The host encourages everyone to love their God, family, and neighbors, and to make a difference in their communities. Don't miss this compelling episode filled with thought-provoking insights, spiritual wisdom, and a powerful musical finale. Tune in and be inspired! Prayerfully consider supporting Right on Radio. Lori Tucker-Sullivan is a first-time guest. She's the author of the new book I Can't Remember If I Cried: Rock Widows on Life, Love, and Legacy. The stories of rock musicians who die young are the thing of lore and legend. Accidents, drug overdoses, plane crashes—all have taken the lives of male rock stars still in their primes. But what became of their widowed brides? How did they survive a loss so great? What is it like to have to share your grief with millions of strangers? And where are these widows today? I Can't Remember if I Cried is part music history, part memoir, based around interviews with rock widows conducted by Lori —who herself lost her husband in 2010. With each widow that Lori interviews, she learns lessons in love, forgiveness, coping, and moving on. The book is framed by the author's own narrative to create a single thread that links the stories together to ultimately create a tale of how the author's life is changed through her interactions with these amazing women. Where did the octopus come from? What about gold? How do the stars affect our daily lives? How do perceptions about the size of fruit determine what gets grown? Are elephants going extinct? Red Vanzant, Erich Blanton, and the crew discuss the mysteries of the universe, micromanagement, and more. Give it a listen, it's a good one. And when you're done, hit us up. Your time, treasure, and talent is crucial to what we do and we'll gladly accept some value in exchange for the value you get from these podcasts.
Erich Blanton and Red Vanzant have been friends for years. Their friendship formed around their shared love of motorcycles, though that wasn't Erich's first passion. In high school, college, and for a few years after, he was a champion rodeo rider. A series of accidents left him unable to continue competing, so he transferred his competitive spirit to motorcycles. Today, he owns a plumbing and drain cleaning company, though he's also a world champion weight lifter. His path wasn't easy, though. Beyond the injuries, there as a rough time with the bottle, something Red helped convince him to move past. It's a great listen and we're sure you'll get value from it. When you do, give us a shout and let us know how your time, treasure, or talent can be a benefit to the show. Link in comments.

Limited in availability, this special offer guarantees fans a unique and collectible addition to their music memorabilia, making it a must-have while supplies last.Renowned as the untamed force behind Lynyrd Skynyrd, Artimus Pyle's impactful double bass drumming was instrumental in defining the band's iconic sound. His breakthrough moment came at the Charlie Daniels Volunteer Jam, where his authoritative drumming, initially credited simply as "Artimus Pyle, percussion," captured widespread attention. Further establishing himself as a sought-after session drummer, Pyle connected with acts such as Charlie Daniels and the Marshall Tucker Band, eventually crossing paths with Ronnie Van Zant and Ed King at Studio One in Doraville, Georgia. This fateful encounter paved the way for the creation of Saturday Night Special, leaving an indelible mark on Ronnie. Making his live debut at Jacksonville's Sgt Pepper's Club in October 1974, Pyle assumed the role of Skynyrd's drummer following the release of Second Helping, contributing to the band's subsequent four albums, including the legendary Street Survivors. Pyle survived the band's tragic 1977 plane crash that took six lives, including Steve and Cassie Gaines, along with the band's leader, Ronnie Van Zant."This project has been a year in the making, but when the fans hear it they will understand why it took so long," says Len Snow, Get Joe Records president. "Artimus is legendary within the Southern Rock space. The music that Lynyrd Skynyrd made will always live as a part of rock history. This album honors that music and gives Artimus a way to honor his former bandmates." He would replace their original drummer (Bob Burns) following the release of the group's second album, Second Helping, and performed with the band and on Skynyrd's subsequent four albums,Nuthin' Fancy, Gimme Back My Bullets, Street Survivors, and their live album, One More for the Road. Pyle was injured but survived the band's 1977 horrific plane crash that abruptly ended the lives of six people, including band members Steve and Cassie Gaines, and most notably, frontman and musical visionary Ronnie Van Zant.In 1979, the band began to reunite, first for the 5th Annual Charlie Daniels Volunteer Jam, and eventually, as the Rossington Collins Band (which included all the remaining band members and Pyle, plus Dale Krantz on lead vocals and Barry Lee Harwood on guitar). However, shortly after that, Pyle was in a car accident that broke his leg in 21 places and shattered his hopes of remaining with the group. Pyle spent the next three years healing, both physically and emotionally, before returning to the States and establishing the Artimus Pyle Band (A.P.B.) to honor the music and legacy of Ronnie Van Zant.In 1987, Pyle rejoined his former bandmates to tour and eventually record as Lynyrd Skynyrd 1991, but the experience left him flat. While he deeply loved them, he no longer felt the magic he once did with Van Zant at the helm, nor was he interested in returning to the party lifestyle for which the band was known and stepped away from the group permanently, only to return in 2006 during Lynyrd Skynyrd's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (where he played alongside Bob Burns). Now in his 70s, Pyle still continues to honor Van Zant's musical legacy, recording and touring with the Artimus Pyle Band, now comprised of Pyle (drums), Scott Raines (guitar/vocals), Jerry Lyda (guitar) Brad Durden (keyboards/vocals), and Dave Fowler (bass).https://artimuspyleband.com/https://www.amazon.com/Anthems-Honoring-Music-Lynyrd-Skynyrd/dp/B0CKH9X2WHBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/i-am-refocused-radio--2671113/support.

Red Vanzant's family has been in Arkansas since the 1800s. For that entire time, they've been growing fruit. On this episode, Red tells the boys about that family history, the changes the region has witnessed throughout their tenure, and how bureaucratic interference affected the fruit growing game. With a focus on giving back and leaving something better behind, Red's story twists and turns through World War II, the Great Depression, and motorcycle racing before ending in an impromptu song, with a few jokes along the way, one of which is that stubborn farmers aren't looking for sympathy. For, as Red's father told him, if you're looking for sympathy, you'll find it in the dictionary between shit and syphilis. Tune in for a great episode.
