Easter // The Resurrected LifePastor JF and Ashley Wilkerson1 Peter 1:3-4 NIV 3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade.2 Corinthians 5:15-17 NIV 15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again. 16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!1. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”Resurrection Life Doesn't Always Look Like Our Plans.Resurrection Life Doesn't Look For The Living Among The Dead.Luke 24:1-6 NIV 1 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. 2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. 5 In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6 He is not here; he has risen!1. Jesus came, the doors having been shut, and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be to you.” 27 Then He said to Thomas, “Place your finger here, and see My hands; and take your hand and put it into My side; and do not continue in disbelief, but be a believer.” 28 Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!”1. "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life," a tongue-in-cheek comedy song written by Monty Python member Eric Idle, first featured in the 1979 Python film Life of Brian and was a Top 10 hit in the Australian Music charts. It is a theme song for optimists. An optimist is a person who engages in positive thinking and looks on the bright side of life. An optimist is inclined to be hopeful and to expect good outcomes. Faith is described as the substance or assurance of things we hope for but have not yet received. In Silver Linings, Terry Lees explores the strong connection between optimism and faith. Terry concludes that by maintaining an optimistic outlook, rooted in unwavering faith and a conviction of our own abilities, we unlock the potential for achievement.

After a roundup of state/church news around the country, we celebrate the birthday of Eric Idle, 82, (who calls himself an "old agnostic") by listening to his irreverent song, "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life," from the movie "Monty Python's Life of Brian." Then, professor and author Josh Cowen tells us about his book The Privateers: How Billionaires Created a Culture War and Sold School Vouchers.

Also unmöglich ? AS : In Ihrem Stück Ehemann sehr sehr günstig treffen die absurdesten Absurditäten aufeinander. Ihres Erachtens also kein Peitschenhieb an die Religion? GS : Ja vielleicht eine Art makabre Anspielung und vielleicht etwas an Monty Pithon erinnernd? Always Look at the bride Side of Life? The last Laugh is on you? AS : Geil?
Always Look on the Bright Side of Life | Episode 354 When the world seems to be heading toward chaos, it's easy to get caught up in fear and negativity. But prepping isn't just about surviving—it's about thriving, staying hopeful, and making the best out of any situation. In this episode, we explore how to maintain a positive mindset during uncertain times and why preparedness itself is an act of hope. Staying Hopeful During the Collapse The news cycle thrives on doom and gloom, making it hard to stay optimistic. But history has shown that humanity is resilient. No matter what hardships come our way, people adapt, rebuild, and find ways to improve their circumstances. Instead of focusing on what could go wrong, channel your energy into what you can control. Preparing for hard times isn't a sign of paranoia—it's a way to ensure that you and your loved ones can thrive. Prepping Gives You Hope Some people think of prepping as an act of fear, but in reality, it's the opposite. Being prepared allows you to face the future with confidence rather than anxiety. When you have food stored, skills developed, and a plan in place, you don't have to live in constant worry. Instead, you gain peace of mind knowing that you're ready for whatever comes next. Preparedness is empowerment, and empowerment fosters optimism. Do Things That Make You Happy Survival isn't just about having enough food and water—it's about maintaining mental and emotional well-being. Even in tough times, it's crucial to do things that bring joy. Whether it's playing music, gardening, reading, or spending time with loved ones, these activities help keep spirits high. A positive mindset can mean the difference between thriving and simply enduring hardship. Building a Positive Survival Mindset A strong mindset is just as important as physical preparedness. Here are some ways to maintain a positive attitude: Gratitude Practice: Focus on what you have rather than what you lack. Problem-Solving Mentality: Look at challenges as puzzles to solve, not insurmountable obstacles. Self-Reliance as a Strength: Knowing that you can take care of yourself fosters confidence and peace of mind. Adaptability: The ability to pivot and make the best of a situation is invaluable in survival and everyday life. Finding Silver Linings Every challenge comes with an opportunity for growth. Hard times can teach valuable skills, strengthen relationships, and help you appreciate the simple things in life. Many preppers find joy in learning self-sufficiency skills like gardening, food preservation, and homesteading, which provide not only security but also a deep sense of accomplishment. Creating a Support Network One of the most overlooked aspects of prepping is the importance of community. Having a support network can make all the difference. Whether it's family, close friends, or a like-minded group of preppers, being surrounded by positive, resourceful people makes tough times easier. Humans are social creatures—we are stronger together. Final Thoughts Being prepared doesn't mean living in fear. It means embracing the future with confidence and ensuring that no matter what happens, you have the ability to take care of yourself and those you love. By maintaining a hopeful outlook, focusing on what brings you joy, and building resilience, you can truly thrive, no matter what challenges arise. So keep prepping, stay positive, and always look on the bright side of life!

It's one of the most frustrating things to hear, especially when you're dealing with fatigue, brain fog, or other unexplained symptoms. What are we all doing here anyway? That's a question I've asked myself recently, not in purely existential terms so much as continuing to pursue some sort of platonic ideal of dance music. Something that means so many different things to so many different people.Truncate is a key man in the world of Techno, a producer who i suspected might have been the most played artist on Aslice (he denies this), and a key DJ who spins all over the world. He's also a man of opinions and observations and therefore a great guest for this show.We talk about topical stuff like the Aslice thing, the prevalence of DJ tools, and the influence of DJ tech on the music, as well as digging into his history and local scene in southern California.I use far too much profanity in this episode, but don't worry about that - this was a fun with a key man in the scene and you're gonna enjoy it!If you're into what we're doing here on the pod then you can support the show on Patreon! Pastor David shared about the importance of our common bond as human beings from Genesis 2:18-25.
A random email from a Twisted Tunes fan a few years ago has evolved into a personal friendship with one of the most interesting, entertaining, and intelligent people I have ever met. That says a lot, when you consider that for close to 40 years, people have been bringing me interesting, entertaining and intelligent people to talk to every day of the week. That was our job. Michael "Misha" Shengaout (we'll just call him by his artist name Misha), emailed me out of nowhere saying that he was a big fan of mine and wondered if he could meet whoever I was working with to make Twisted Tunes, as he was planning a concept album. He wanted it to have great production values. Oh, and he had just been diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer. His reaction was that he wanted to try and make the best and most important music of his life. He wanted to set an example for anyone with a terminal illness. But he did not tell me that. Cynical Bob Rivers wrestled with whether to bother Ben Karlstrom, who's quite busy, with something that's rarely great. Original songs that stand up today are rare, even though it seems that everyone has the tools to participate. Where's the Soul? Where's the personal pain and joy in lyrical poetry? But, I had a gut feeling. At around the same time, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer too. And lost a dear friend in Alan White. As his celebration of life was being planned, I offered to help and maybe mix some live songs that might evolve into a film someday. This project has become for me, like "Misha's" mission. So when I of course hit up Ben Karlstrom to help me with this project, he said he was a few month's behind, finishing up the project for "Misha". Thanks for the reference, he said "Misha" is a great guy! That is how we met, about a year ago. Today's stage 4 cancer survival rates are improving, largely it seems, to new and better drugs and immunotherapies. What used to be a projected survival of moths, now can add precious years. Or not. And we all live scan to scan. The "report card" comes every 3 months. And boy does that change your perspective on so many things. We talk a lot about that. Misha and his studio band are nothing typical. His 87 year old piano teacher who happens to be his mom, plays the piano. His studio band is a world class gritty set of musicians who serve every song like it's the best meal at a ten star restaurant. But be prepared. They are different in a "Russian meets American" vibe, which might seem unusual. Until you remember that we are all one species of People on One Planet… and every one of us will one day walk the path to The End Of The Road. As we take that path, or stairway (nod to Led Zeppelin) what matters the most? You are invited to contact Misha to see his blog posts, email him, request him as a guest on your podcast, and even set up a video chat. Prepare to get a bit silly as we salute a Python -- Eric Idle! While best known for his stint in Monty Python's Flying Circus, Eric has carved out a fine solo career including creating a stellar Beatles parody (The Rutles), writing the Broadway version of Monty Python and the Holy Grail (Spamalot), penning books, and touring the world. Oh yeah, he also was the creative force behind Monty Python's Farewell Shows in 2014. Not bad work if you can get it! A Tony and Grammy award winner, Eric shows no signs of slowing down with a new book (Spamalot Diaries) on the way and an accompanying tour. See him while you can -- he's a Legend's Legend. As always, find extra clips below and thanks for sharing our shows! Want more Idle? One of Eric's best tunes came in Monty Python's Meaning of Life in which Eric explains the galaxy. https://youtu.be/EntOjHJvYtY?si=B0Gvvzcn3gZUSTYa After Python, Eric's first huge project was The Rutles -- a parody of The Beatles that managed to be affectionate and snarky, all at the same time. Plus, it's pretty darned musical as seen in "Ouch" in which Eric's "Dirk McQuickly" takes the lead. https://youtu.be/6VNDZKa3ewE?si=jbHjqubWDrvlyX90 Eric hasn't made too many movies outside of Python, but Nuns on the Run (with Robbie Coltrane) is a perfect fit. Here Eric and Robbie, bank robbers trying to pass as nuns, try to explain the Holy Trinity. https://youtu.be/LBYs__VRqBs?si=-IsRmxqZfmFw7Jqu Eric's song "Always Look on the Bright Side of Live" has become a staple at UK funerals but during this chat with Craig Ferguson, Eric pulls out a somewhat darker companion piece! https://youtu.be/AUhu1CVzYjk?si=lpCsPwZ5icOS0JI9

Easter Sunday // Resurrection Life1 Peter 1:3-4 NIV3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade.2 Corinthians 5:15-17 NIV15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again. 16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!1. Resurection Life Doesn't Always Look like Our Plans.Mark 14:50 NIV50 Then everyone deserted him and fled.Matthew 20:25-28 NIV25 Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 26 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”2. Resurrection Life Doesn't Look for the Living Among the Dead.Luke 24:1-6 NIV1 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. 6 He is not here; he has risen!3. Resurrection Life Utilizes Our Scars.John 20:24-28 NIV24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, who was called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples were saying to him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the imprint of the nails, and put my finger into the place of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.” 26 Eight days later His disciples were again inside, and Thomas was with them. Jesus *came, the doors having been shut, and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be to you.” 27 Then He *said to Thomas, “Place your finger here, and see My hands; and take your hand and put it into My side; and do not continue in disbelief, but be a believer.” 28 Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!”1.Resurrection Life Doesn't Always Look Like Our Plans.2. In the first hour SKOR North's Judd Zulgad talks about the Vikings being routed by the Packers and how the team has to make some big decisions on the direction they want to go in after the season comes to an end, KSTP's Chris Egert shares some of the top news stories to start 2024, including a plane crash in Japan and the Wall Street Journal's in-depth look at Minnesota's odd weather this winter. Hour #2 has the crew look at a couple that bought $30,000 worth of Target gift cards in a scam, learn about World Introvert Day, and how Mickey Mouse has his own horror movie coming out. In hour #3 we have Shawn Weber call in and tell us that 2024 is not, in fact, the year of THC. That's 2025. Then Kristyn Burtt discusses something this podcast will probably never have: subtitles. That's right, our show is not ADA compliant. It's one of our secret shames. On the Family, we get some introverts in studio to dispel some myths about introversion. For example, flying to a billionaire's sex island is not an introverted thing to do. It's also not a Minnesotan thing to do, apparently. Somehow this state has managed to skirt by with very few sex scandals. We also have Tim, whose introvert status is unknown but can also proudly boast a lack of scandals.
