Closer to My Home” is the long-awaited, new album from legendary guitarist and singer/songwriter Mark Farner. Bridging past and present, the grit of industry and the calloused hard work of a rural man,“ Closer to My Home” champions Farner's multi-faceted artistry. “The songs on the Closer to My Home are honest and from my heart,” Farner said. “The collaboration with Jim (Peterik) and Mark (Slaughter) came from a place of trust and that makes the whole experience so much more rewarding as songwriters. The audience can feel that and these songs reflect those very human moments that you can't find creating a song from a computer.” ‘Closer to My Home' comes from the idea that love is at the heart of all that I do, and music is my home.” As one of the founding members, lead singer, lead guitarist, and wrote more than 90% of the Grand Funk music catalog, Farner has always been known as the energetic driving force on stage, the engine that pulled the original Grand Funk Railroad to the top. ‘Anymore' is the latest single released, Here is one passage: “In the beginning it was me and my band It's sad to say, that we don't play together anymore It's not the quantity, it's the honesty my friends The story ends, and I'm not angry with ‘em anymore.” “Love keep on shinnin', shinnin' on me.” Markfarner.com – to download the “Closer to my home” album and the single, “Anymore.” Also you can learn more about Mark's upcoming tour dates.

My band, Project Grand Slam, or PGS for short, has released 14 acclaimed albums and numerous singles, crossing multiple genres within Jazz and Rock. I pride myself on the variety of my music. So this episode is a short tour of PGS and a few of our Greatest Hits.“Spring Dance” is the title tune from our 2009 album. It heralds the beginning of springtime, one of the happiest and most anticipated times of the year. Spotify linkMy father was a trumpet player who loved Latin music, and PGS has always had wonderful Latin musicians. I wrote “The Queen's Carnival” to celebrate that Latin tradition. Link“Ma Petite Fleur” - My Little Flower - is a love song ballad. I gave it a French title just because I thought it fit. LinkIn 2015 I reorganized the band and included the first of several outstanding female singers. So I started writing vocal songs for them like “Redemption Road” featuring the exquisite Ziarra Washington. LinkOne of my musical signatures has been to include on each album a reimagined version of a hit from the 1960s, the era when I came of age musically. My first one was Jimi Hendrix's “Fire” sung by the incomparable Kat Robichaud of The Voice fame. LinkMy band has always been at the top of its game when playing live. Here's “Yeah Yeah” recorded live at a festival in Pennsylvania with the superb Marilyn Castillo on vocals. LinkOne of my greatest pleasures in doing the podcast are the musical collaborations that I've done with some of my World Class guests. Here are a few examples.“The Fall Of Winter” I co-wrote with the great Jim Peterik of The Ides Of March and formerly with Survivor. Elliott Randall of Steely Dan fame participated in this one too. Link“All Of The Time” is a gentle, whimsical love song. Tony Carey of Rainbow produced it and added a lovely organ part. Link“This Time”, from the album Bobby M and the Paisley Parade, features the great John Helliwell from Supertramp on sax. And me on the vocal. LinkI went back to my jazz roots with “The Gift”, a collaboration with Grammy winning arranger Michael Abene. He took my ballad and changed it into a big band Samba with me and my PGS bandmates as the rhythm section. LinkRecently I decided to return to my instrumental roots with “Sostice”, a single that I released last year. LinkAnd then most recently I took another single, “The Rich Ones”, and added 8 World Class musicians who had all been guests on the podcast and released a new extended version of the track called “The Rich Ones All Stars” which, I'm pleased to say, has been on fire on YouTube and Spotify. LinkSo there it is. A few of our Greatest Hits by me and my band, Project Grand Slam. I look forward to continuing to write, record and release new music via the podcast. As always, I want to thank you for listening to this podcast, and to my music. Keep on Rockin, and we'll see you in the next episode.RobertProject Grand Slam:Guillermo Barron (Percussion)Tristan Clark (Guitar)Baden Goyo (Keys)Joel E. We're celebrating our 10th anniversary all year by digging in the vaults to re-present classic episodes with fresh commentary. What better way to kick things off than where it all began? Here's a look back at episode one and our conversation with Jim Peterik. ABOUT JIM PETERIKSinger, songwriter, guitarist, and keyboardist Jim Peterik is best known as a founding member of the band Survivor and the co-writer of their Grammy-winning double platinum #1 hit single, “Eye of the Tiger.” But that's only the tip of the iceberg. Thirty-five of Jim's songs have appeared on the Billboard Pop chart, including seven Top 10 singles. His first major success came when his original band, Ides of March, took the Peterik-penned “Vehicle” to the #2 position on the Pop chart in 1970, spawning cover versions by Chet Baker and Shirley Bassey. After a stint as a solo artist with Epic Records, Jim formed Survivor in 1979, penning a string of hits for the band, including “I Can't Hold Back,” “High On You,” “The Search is Over,” “Burning Heart,” and “Is This Love.” While still writing hits for his own group, Jim forged a successful partnership with the members of 38 Special, co-writing classic songs, including “Rockin' Into the Night,” “Hold On Loosely,” and “Caught Up In You.” Widely respected as a top-notch collaborator, Jim has co-written successful songs with a number of artists, including the Beach Boys, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Sammy Hagar, Cheap Trick, the Doobie Brothers, REO Speedwagon, and Mindi Abair. The long list of those who have covered his compositions includes Paul Anka, Gloria Gaynor, Tony Orlando, Reba McEntire, Larry Gatlin, Blackhawk, and The Outlaws. He is the co-author, with Dave Austin, of Songwriting for Dummies.
Doug is honored to have a once-in-a-lifetime interview with grammy award winning writer and artist Jim Peterik, founder of the band Survivor. You may not recognize his name, but you will recognize his voice and music. Jim wrote and performed songs like: Eye of the Tiger (from Rocky 3), Burning Heart (Rocky 4), The Search Is Over, High On You, and I Can't Hold Back. Jim also co-wrote 38 Special's platinum hits “Hold On Loosely”, “Caught Up In You”, “Wild-Eyed Southern Boys”, “Fantasy Girl”, and “Rockin' Into The Night”. Along with songs with Sammy Hagar, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and the Beach Boys … Sit back and enjoy! https://jimpeterik.com

1st ANNIVERSARY SHOW! I'm rebroadcasting our three anniversary shows! This is our first one from March 2022.I started the podcast in March 2021. It was the depths of the pandemic. Musicians like me could neither perform nor even rehearse. I needed to find a creative outlet and someone suggested that I should look into starting a podcast. I had no idea what a podcast was; I had never even listened to one. But the more that I looked into it the more I became convinced that a podcast could provide a much deeper level of engagement than ordinary social media. Plus I felt that I had an interesting and inspiring story to tell. So I began the podcast. This 1st Anniversary episode features vignettes from a number of my first year guests: “Cousin Brucie” Morrow, America's most famous radio personality; Jim Peterik of the Ides of March and formerly with Survivor; Mark Farner of Grand Funk Railroad fame; John Lodge of the Moody Blues; Joey Dee of “Peppermint Twist” fame; and English classical composer Sarah Class. Plus several other guests including budding Egyptologist Sarah Kotlova; Garry Ridge, CEO of WD 40; David Bedford, Beatles Liverpool Tour Guide; Debbie Greenberg of The Cavern Club in Liverpool; podcasting star John Lee Dumas; and Reena Friedman's Better Call Daddy podcast. ---------------------------------------------The Follow Your Dream Podcast:Top 1% of all podcasts with Listeners in 200 countries! For more information and other episodes of the podcast click here. Born and raised in Illinois with her twin sister and brother by their single mother, Kelly's life has always been extraordinary. Growing up, she experienced out-of-body experiences, saw spirits, and struggled with anxiety and ADHD. At age 10, her family moved to Ontario, Canada, where she began seeing orbs, UFOs, and was visited by extraterrestrial energy and spirits. In 2000, after graduating high school, Kelly moved to Chicago to pursue her music career, guided by her uncle, Jim Peterik, a Grammy-winning artist and founder of the band Survivor. The following year, she moved to Los Angeles, where she was signed to a major label and performed at the 2002 Winter Olympics. In 2005, after moving back to Illinois, Kelly met her husband, who was in the military. Soon after, the universe revealed a new path—channeling and communicating with spirits. In 2013, Kelly gave birth to a son who displayed psychic abilities. A year later, after her beloved grandmother passed away, Kelly's intuition soared, unveiling her true calling. While working as a hairstylist, she began receiving unexplainable information about her clients, which accelerated her spiritual awakening. She shared her son's unique gifts on social media, quickly gaining a large following. Today, Kelly dedicates her life to helping others through spiritual teachings and mediumship. Welcome to a Very Special Episode of the podcast celebrating the show's 3rd Anniversary! I started the podcast in March 2021 during the depths of the pandemic, when musicians like me couldn't play live. It was a bleak time for all of us. I needed to find a creative outlet and so I started this podcast. From the beginning it grew quickly and exponentially. It's been ranked for some time now in the Top 1% of all podcasts. I have listeners worldwide on every continent in 200 countries, and it has won several awards! My guests have included many of the world's most famous musicians and other creatives.Last year to celebrate the 2nd Anniversary I played excerpts from several guest interviews. But for this 3rd Anniversary show I wanted to do something different - and fun. So here's what I decided. After each interview I ask my guest to record a short promo for the podcast. I use these promos at the beginning of other guest interviews. Everyone does their promo a little differently in their own style. After all, they're artists! So I thought it would be fun to put together a montage of promos featuring a slew of my guests. The entire list is below.I want to thank my guests and my listeners for the success of the podcast. As I like to say - Keep On Rockin'! Jim Peterik is a musical force. Vocalist, keyboard player, guitarist, and a prolific songwriter. Jim's career goes back to 1964. At the age of 14, his band The Ides Of March was formed with his schoolmates in Berwyn, Illinois. The Ides would go on to eventually have a million selling, Billboard number 2 hit song called Vehicle. In the mid seventies, The Ides Of March went on hiatus. Jim didn't slow down. He put together the Jim Peterik Band which released an album called Don't Fight The Feeling in 1976. Next came the band Survivor, who scored a number one hit single in 1982. That song was Eye Of The Tiger, co-written by Jim with Frankie Sullivan. Survivor would go on to have several hit singles. Jim has also written hit songs for other artists and to this day continues to share his musical gifts with the world. Next up is an album called Roots & Shoots, Vol 1 coming out on January 12, 2024. We get together with Jim to discuss this new record, and of course we touch on his legacy. Jim also announces a big show being planned to celebrate The Ides Of March 60th anniversary as a band, on March 15, 2024. Jim has his guitar in hand too, so there is a little live music here as well!
JIM PETERIK & WORLD STAGE has spawned a series of extremely well received albums beginning with their legendary self titled debut, featuring partnerships with rock luminaries such as Dennis DeYoung, Kevin Cronin, Johnny Van Zant, Don Barnes, Tom Keifer, and more. In 2019, the concept reemerged on the 'Winds of Change' album, where JIM PETERIK teamed up with legends such as Kevin Chalfant, Dennis DeYoung, Matthew and Gunnar Nelson, Kelly Keagy, Mike Reno, Jason Scheff, and others. PETERIK subsequently dedicated an entire album female rockers, resulting in the remarkable 'Tigress - Women Who Rock the World.' This album showcased collaborations with outstanding singers and musicians like Jennifer Batten, Chloe Lowery, Rosa Laricchiuta, Chez Kane, and others. These albums underscore JIM PETERIK's immense talents, complemented by a roster of renowned singers and musicians. With the new Roots and Shoots album concept, the Chicago-based artist presents two superb albums equally divided between Roots (classic rock stars) and Shoots (emerging rock stars). In addition to Kevin Cronin and REO Speedwagon, Vol. 1's notable guests include: Kelly Keagy (Night Ranger), Don Barnes (.38 Special), Mark Farner (Grand Funk), alongside emerging talents like Colin Peterik (Jim's son!), Ashton Brooke Gill, Paul Childers, Leslie Hunt, Mark Mackay, and a captivating duet between Dave Mikulskis and Lisa McClowry. WORLD STAGE embodies JIM PETERIK's outstanding musical legacy, a testament to his songwriting prowess as one of the true icons of melodic rock.

Shannon Koehler is the drummer and singer for The Stone Foxes, the great San Francisco based rock band. They have employed a brilliant music licensing strategy which placed their songs in TV shows like “Sons Of Anarchy”, films like “Free Solo” and commercials for brands like Jack Daniels. This helped them to build a huge following. And they were profiled in Forbes Magazine. My featured song is “The Fall Of Winter”, my collaboration with Jim Peterik of the Ides of March and formerly with Survivor.
