This month, we're tracing the origins of medieval torture, separating myth from documented history, and examining how Vlad the Impaler earned his infamous reputation... one sharpened stake at a time. We're stepping back into a world where power was enforced through fear, justice was measured in pain, and punishment was designed not just to kill, but to be remembered. Medieval Europe was an age of castles and crusades, faith and fealty… and some of the most brutal torture tactics ever devised by human hands. From iron devices meant to terrify as much as they destroyed, to methods engineered for slow, public suffering, torture was both a tool of control and a warning to anyone who dared to disobey. And no figure embodies that legacy more than Vlad III of Wallachia, known to history as Vlad the Impaler.Want to hear other Patreon-exclusive episodes? We've all been having the best time revisiting different failures within the Dark Universe. This week it's Dracula Untold, a thinly veiled attempt to turn Dracula into a comic book action hero. Which is weird because Dracula already exists in both the Marvel and DC Universes. Anyhoo Luke Evans stars as Vlad The Impaler, a kind and gentle family man who just wants to forget the time he literally impalled 1000 people. BUT THEN an man from his past returns to get all the boys and Vlad's like "NO WAY" and he turns into a Dracula. Other things happen but that's the main thrust of it. Explore the captivating story of the Romanian revolution of 1989, a pivotal moment shaped by the country's rich history of resisting and embracing external influences. This intricate tapestry of events traces back to the second century AD when the Roman Emperor Trajan conquered the region, leaving an indelible mark in the form of plundered gold. Subsequent waves of invaders, including Goths, Huns, Bulgars, Magyars, and Ottomans, were met with fierce resistance, led by legendary figures like Vlad The Impaler. Each conqueror left behind a lasting legacy, contributing to Romania's unique heterogeneity in a region dominated by homogeneity. While neighboring Slavic countries followed certain paths, Romania charted its own course, embracing Orthodox Christianity while adopting the Latin alphabet. As a result, Romanian stands as the language most closely linked to modern Italian, setting it apart from the predominantly Slavic, Turkic, or Greek languages spoken in the Balkan nations. Join us in this episode as we unravel the complex historical threads that culminated in the Romanian revolution of 1989, shedding light on a nation's enduring spirit of resistance and its quest for a distinct identity. Vlad the Impaler is one of history's most terrifying villains. A leader who used torture, terrorism, and sadistic punishment to retain his grip on power. Though he was considered a folk hero by some in his homeland, for many, he's the inspiration behind the most spine-chilling tale of all time: Bram Stoker's Dracula. But what sparked Vlad's bloodthirsty obsession? How did he come to give his name - Dracul - to a vampire? And when it comes to medieval violence and tyranny, how did Vlad the Impaler keep raising the stakes? This is a Short History Of Vlad the Impaler. A Noiser production. Written by Jo Furniss. The kingdom of Wallachia was the home to warlords, brutality, and the reign of Islamic terror. One man rose from Turkish captivity to save his people, and would as a result become one of the most fascinating—and brutal—leaders in Christendom. His name was Vlad Tepes, but he was best known as Vlad Dracul or, more ominously, Vlad the Impaler. In the late 1800s, Bram Stoker found documents about Vlad's brutal methods and in turn wrote the famous novel, Dracula. He told of a blood sucking vampire who could never die. But how do we separate the myth of Dracula from the real man, Vlad Tepes, who was no doubt brutal but was also known as a defender of the West?In this episode, we talk about Vlad, the true story behind the man, and the vicious propaganda campaign waged against him. We also relate it to bitter disputes within Christian circles today, and why it's so important to unite around our common faith rather than divide ourselves into petty factions.Be sure to sign up at the King's Hall Patreon to get exclusive access to interviews with historians like Glenn Sunshine and to access the Deus Vault, a Patreon-exclusive podcast that goes deeper into the histories, mysteries, and heroes of Christendom.Visit Full Stadium Marketing to find your next marketing partner, aligning with your values and providing tools to grow your business all to the glory of God.Get 10% off your next order at Reformation Heritage Books with the code, "KINGSHALL."Alpine Gold Exchange Website: alpinegoldogden.comSet Up a Meeting: https://calendly.com/alpinegold/alpine-gold-consultation10 Ways to Make Money with Your MAXX-D Trailer.Buy your beef or pork box today from Salt and Strings Butchery.Talk to Joe Garrisi about managing your wealth with Backwards Planning Financial.Squirrelly Joe's Coffee. Have you ever heard of "clinical vampirism," more commonly known today as Renfield's Syndrome? One review of psychiatric literature claims that over 50,000 people addicted to drinking blood have appeared in case studies from 1892 to 2010. But does that mean that any of them are actually, at least medically speaking, vampires? For Merch and everything else Bad Magic related, head to: https://www.badmagicproductions.com

This medieval bad boy earned his nickname by impaling his opps, often bootyhole first. In addition to all the impaling, he boiled his detractors alive, set beggars on fire, and nailed turbans to the heads of those who refused to remove them in his company. Also, just want to add this because I forgot to mention it during the podcast, but Vlad dined amongst the impaled. Bummed I forgot this because eating mozzarella sticks surrounded by enemies with poles up their butts has always been a dream of mine. On the night of November 25th, 1996, Rick Wendorf, 49, and his partner Ruth Queen, 54, were beaten to death with a crowbar inside their home in Eustis, Florida, by a vampire over 500 years old known as Vesago. At least that's what their killer believed. "Vesago" was really Rod Ferrell, a sixteen year-old from Murray, Kentucky, who lost himself in a vampiric role playing game, and truly thought he'd become an immortal bloodsucker. Send us a Text Message.Picture a vampire. Yeah, you're picturing Dracula. That's Dracula. I mean unless you're a Twilight fan, then maybe you're picturing Robert Pattinson's fine self. But no, chances are you're picturing the title character from Bram Stoker's 1897 novel “Dracula” about a vampire named Count Dracula who moves from Transylvania to England in search of new victims of his undead curse. This character, who basically invented the genre of vampires in fiction, was loosely based on, at least named after, a 15th century Romanian prince named Vlad III AKA Vlad the Impaler AKA Vlad Dracula. But did you know, besides the name and the fact that they were both savage, blood-thirsty killers, Vlad Dracula and Count Dracula don't really have all that much in common? Let's fix that. This identification now seems more apt than ever, as a team of Romanian and Italian chemists has just released a study claiming that Vlad the Impaler literally, and not metaphorically, cried tears of blood.SOURCES AND REFERENCES FROM THE EPISODE…https://www.ancient-origins.net/news-history-archaeology/vlad-impaler-0019094= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =WeirdDarkness® is a registered trademark. Vampire lore goes back to the ancient world (revenant legends abound from Rome to China) but vampire mythology doesn't come into its own until at least the Renaissance period. Was the inspiration for it all the bloodthirsty Wallachian ruler Vlad Tepes, the ruler who impaled tens of thousands in the 1400s? Was he the direct inspiration for Bram Stoker's Dracula? Partially yes, but it's not as clear cut as most think. In this episode we will sink our fangs into vampire lore, the reign of Vlad Tepes, and where Bram Stoker got his ideas for his most famous novel. This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/3101278/advertisement
