We just talked to writer Chris McAuley and artist Clint Langley about the new book coming in 2025 titled "Shadows of the Stokerverse"! They currently have a Kickstarter campaign going to get some awesome exclusives, so go help them out! Back the Kickstarter NOW http://kck.st/40po3hS What's This Book All About? After the hugely successful launch of the comic book series "Dracula The Return: Cult Of The White Worm" in 2022 working with Scratch Comics and the equally successful launch of the Stokerverse Role Playing Game released by Nightfall Games, which featured the stunning artwork of 2000ad comic art legend Clint Langley (ABC Warriors, Slaine, WarHammer 4000) ideas started to flow between Chris McAuley, Clint Langley and Shane Chebsey to find an exciting way to expand the Stokerverse beyond Dracula himself. It was not long before the enthusiasm for these ideas manifested in some concept art from Clint, which then inspired new stories from Chris and before long writer and artist were inspiring each other and a huge collection of incredible work started to amass. They now offer you the results of this work in the pages of a 100 page beautifully designed art and story book with an introduction from Dacre Stoker, that combines the vivid word craft of Chris McAuley, the stunning and often visceral artwork of Clint Langley and the sublime design skills of Andy Bloor. INTERVIEW BEGINS AT : 29:15 Horror novels... why are they all lumped together when there are so many different sub genres, yet in book stores or websites they are all in the same section, from gothic horror to comedy horror to splatter punk to classic horror and so on, should they all be considered the same, and if so, how can you build a fan base. Some are defiantly not for the young and some are made for the young, so why are they all on “the same shelf” Today we welcome three horror writers from three vastly different styles, Casey Masterson, Rex Hurst and Dacre Stoker, we will discuss their views on how horror is marketed, how it should be and the future of the art form So kick back, enjoy, and please subscribe, rate and share the show, Let's keep the audience growing and feel free to reach out to us at Trans.History.Rambling@gmail.com And hey, why not check out our merch store for t-shirts, baseball hats, hoodies, coffee mugs, stickers, magnets and a whole host of other items. https://www.teepublic.com/user/tahistory All of our episodes are listed as explicit due to language and some topics that may not be suitable for all listeners. Darkness Radio presents: Bram Stoker: Father Of Dracula with Researcher/Author/Filmmaker, Dacre Stoker! Bram Stoker's Dracula is one of the most successful novels in history. The tale of the evil Count has thrilled and fascinated people since its publication in 1897.  The novel has never been out of print and has been translated into thirty languages and sold in over a hundred and twenty countries worldwide. Count Dracula is now regarded as one of the most famous fictional characters in history.  The image of the undead vampire as a symbol of evil is now firmly embedded in our collective consciousness, thanks to Stoker. Paradoxically, Dracula has also become a symbol of forbidden lust thanks to the later portrayals of the character by Bela Lugosi, Christopher Lee, and Frank Langella.  But what of Bram Stoker, the man behind the creation? Sadly, he left no autobiography and precious little first-hand source material for us to better understand his life and inspirations for his writing of Dracula.  However, by examining his private journals, notes, and the memories of those who knew him we can piece together an account of his life and learn much about the man who became the father of Dracula. Dacre Stoker Joins Darkness Radio today to describe how he, filmmaker Jason Figgis. and author and screenwriter, John West are putting together that documentary of Bram Stoker's life titled, "Father Of Dracula". Stoker also tells us how we can help get  it to the finish line through a 60 day crowdsourcing campaign through  Indiegogo! Bram Stoker, his life, his research and writing of Dracula to promote a documentary film called Father of Dracula, being made by an Irish film maker, Jason Figgis, and written by John West.  I have contributed years of research and do the narration on the film. Dracula is the most famous horror character in literature. Over a hundred years after the publication of Bram Stoker's novel Dracula, (1897) the character still has the power to fascinate and horrify us. The image of the undead vampire as a symbol of evil is now firmly embedded in our collective consciousness, thanks to Stoker. Paradoxically, Dracula has also be-come a symbol of forbidden lust thanks to the later portrayals of the character by Bela Lugosi, Christopher Lee, Frank Langella and Gary Oldman etc. etc. But what of Bram Stoker, the man behind the creation? Sadly, he left no autobiography and precious little first-hand source material for us to better understand his life and inspirations for his writing of Dracula. For most, he is a shadowy or un-known figure, a man long since eclipsed by the character that he created. However, by examining his private journals, notes, and the memories of those who knew him, we can piece together an account of his life and learn much about the man who became the father of Dracula. With this documentary, we aim to reveal the man and how he came to create the Prince of Darkness, Count Dracula. Humans screwing around with nature accidentally awaken an ancient evil deep within the mountain.  Cliched and derivative, but if you go into it expecting a B monster movie, you won't be disappointed.Books:"Billy Summers," by Stephen King. A hitman takes one final job—which naturally goes wrong. King has fun breathing life into a tired trope and talking about the writing life."The Girl in Red," by Christina Henry. In this clever riff on Red Riding Hood, a teenage girl heads for her grandmother's house when the apocalypse hits."Round Ireland with a Fridge," by Tony Hawks. The bet that a British comedian couldn't hitchhike around Ireland with a fridge results in a light, funny travelogue mainly about the Irish people."Dracul," by Dacre Stoker and J.D. Barker. A prequel to "Dracula" co-written by Bram Stoker's great-grandnephew suggests Bram was writing about vampires from first-knowledge."Honey Don't," by Tim Sandlin. When a president accidentally dies after having sex with a young woman, she, her wanna-be mobster boyfriend, an over-the-hill journalist and a gay NFL player try to get rid of the evidence. This absurdist Carl Hiassen-like romp pokes fun at Washington, D.C.,  and modern life.

Oddly enough, this episode, and the next, which both include interviews with Dacre, were one of the very few times the duo experienced major technical difficulties.  The episodes had to be salvaged as well as possible and then "Frankensteined" together to make them somewhat complete.  So please forgive the ladies for taking so long to bring it to you.  They hope you enjoy hearing from Dacre Stoker as much as they did!Support the show
