You grant our wishes before we even make them. And whatever You arrange for us should be the best for our spiritual development. Season 3 Book 5: "The World's Religions" by Huston Smith: Introducing the essential elements and teachings of the world's predominant faiths, including Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, as well as regional native traditions. There are truths that religious institutions preserve, and which in turn empower those institutions. When religions are sifted for those truths, a different, cleaner side appears. They become the world's wisdom traditions. They begin to look like data banks that house the winnowed wisdom of the human race. GOD'S NEW MESSAGE FOR THE WORLD'S RELIGIONS - Chapter 6 | The Pure Religion: Today We shall speak on God's New Revelation and the world's religions. First you must understand that God has initiated all the great religions of the world and in each case has sent a Messenger from the Angelic Assembly to initiate these traditions at the outset. The post God's New Message for the World's Religions Podcast appeared first on The New Message from God.
Achieving Discomfort – An Interfaith Agenda of Change and Disruption Our guest is interfaith activist Tahil Sharma. Tahil is an interfaith activist based in Los Angeles who was born to a Hindu father and a Sikh mother. He currently serves as one of three Interfaith Ministers in Residence for the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles and is a member of the NextGen Task Force for the Parliament of the World's Religions.
The political discourse of our time regularly equates Christians to "supremacists" and touts Christianity as a backward worldview with no place in a modern society. But it's actually not a new narrative; it's the exact language and tone coming out of the Parliament of the World's Religions. Carl Teichrib, author of "Game of Gods," explains how the political words we hear find their root in what the exponents of Pagan spirituality are actually saying on the global stage. That's on Friday's JANET MEFFERD TODAY.
I review the book "The Worlds Religions" by Huston Smith. It is a good philosophical text book on the study of religion without making any arguments on why one should be religious or to favor any one over the other. The section on Islam paints the religion as it is, which does not match the common conception or perception that it has in the post 9/11 world. I rate it a 7/10 and it was recommended by Jordan B. Peterson
This lecture was given on June 2, 2019 by Swami Tattwamayananda at the Vedanta Society of Northern California. -Transcendentalism’s universal spirit paved the road for the 1893 Parliament of World's Religions and other spiritual/reform movements of the 19th century.-A contrast is drawn between obsessive love of the new and the rejection of all new things. The Sanskrit poet Kalidasa wrote that we should examine everything and accept what should be accepted, whether it is old or new.-Political, social, and economic freedom was not enough. America’s quest for freedom turned to a higher spiritual freedom, which naturally was universal in spirit. -Comparison is made between Emerson’s statement that “nature is the greatest manifestation of the transcendental divine,” Thoreau’s statements, and mantras and dialogues from the Yajur Veda.-Tapas means looking for a higher meaning by withdrawing the senses from external objects and doing introspection. -From Thoreau’s Walden: "In the morning I bathe my intellect in the stupendous and cosmogonal philosophy of the Bhagvat Geeta, since whose composition years of the gods have elapsed, and in comparison with which our modern world and its literature seem puny and trivial and I doubt if that philosophy is not to be referred to a previous state of existence, so remote is its sublimity from our conceptions. I lay down the book and go to my well for water, and lo! there I meet the servant of the Bramin, priest of Brahma and Vishnu and Indra, who still sits in his temple on the Ganges reading the Vedas, or dwells at the root of a tree with his crust and water jug. I meet his servant come to draw water for his master, and our buckets as it were grate together in the same well. The pure Walden water is mingled with the sacred water of the Ganges."-Thoreau is doing tapas here. He connects with “Ritam,” the harmony of the whole existence.-America responded to Oriental wisdom at the emotional level. Europe responded at the intellectual level. -When the mind becomes pure, it is able to catch the true meaning of spiritual texts.-An example is given of Emerson’s understanding of the idea of renouncing the fruits of action, not the action itself found in the Bhagavad Gita. He was able to connect with the ideas of karma, and svadharma. These interpretations even influenced Gandhi later.-Transcendentalists felt that the tools of science and technology are a distraction from our true nature.-Vedanta is the universal natural instinct of a spiritual mind. Look in your own mind, look in nature. You will find Ritam, the harmonizing link. -America’s quest for freedom naturally leads to a quest for higher spiritual freedom.-The transcendentalists and Vedanta both show that by connecting with the divine and sublime in nature, we are able connect with the divine spark within all of us.

Networking for Metaphysical and Alternative Professionals with Deb Frueh Deborah Frueh (pronounced FROO) grew up in the Chicago suburbs. She began her search of the answers to Life's Biggest Questions at a young age and studied the world's religions, both ancient and modern, in depth. In 1993 she interviewed the heads of many of the world's religions for a documentary film commemorating the 100th anniversary of the original gathering of the Parliament of the World's Religions at the Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893. It was here that she realized that all roads - committed to with honesty and kindness at their core - lead to the deep, spiritual understanding that we crave and that everyone is always on The Path. Deborah is an Intuitive Coach, Tarot Teacher/Reader, Certified Life Coach, and Tachyon Level Reiki Master, and founder of the Worldwide Metaphysical Tribe – a networking group for metaphysicians, who travels the world helping others learn to use their own Personal GPS. Sexy Spirituality Episode #19 Our Sacred Worth Hosts Lezli Goodwin Sonia Byrne Guest Host: Kevin Ross Opening Chat Sonia and Kevin discuss the best parts of the Parliament of the World's Religions, including sharing spiritual practices, exploring social justice and catching up with friends from all over the planet. https://parliamentofreligions.org/ Our Sacred Worth Rev. Kevin Ross, our guest host, shares about his work at Unity of Sacramento, helping people to see and accept their own sacred worth. There is a message that we are unworthy or worthless, picked up from media and culture, and we need to unlearn that. Each of us is made in the likeness and image of a Creator that brought them forth and is thus inherently valuable, imbued with sacred worth -- not because they have done anything or earned anything, but just because they are. "I am a unique, unrepeatable miracle of God." Rev. Johnnie Coleman. We are born worthy. We express this element of sacred worth with people by treating them as if they are inherently worthy. Rev. Kevin shared about the grocery project his Center does each year, raising money and then surprising people by paying for their Christmas groceries and gifts. It's essential that this form of giving comes from a place of valuing one another on a fundamental level. Some liturgy in our culture can leave us feeling spiritually violated, with unworthy, "worm of the dust" teachings. For Rev. Kevin, that is sacrilegious. Jesus the Christ has had some pretty bad spokespeople, but those original teachings of Christ Consiouness are still valuable and valid in today;s world. We are committed to building a consciousness where everybody recognizes their own worth. In spiritual community, we have varying levels of spiritual evolvement. But we seek to awaken and inspire people to recognize their divine nature. Something Good Sonia I am launching a book study on January 28th, studying You Can Heal Your Life by Lousie Hay. $89.00, happening on line. Jesus The Only Hope Of The World's Religions by Kenneth Samples
Rev. Dr. Angela Yarber discusses the revolutionary work of the Holy Women Icons Project. As an intersectionally ecofeminist organization, the Holy Women Icons Project seeks to empower marginalized women and to be an accomplice in the work for justice for ethnic and racial minorities, women, LGBTQs, people with differing abilities, immigrants and refugees, the poor, animals, the earth, and all living at the margins of society. This is the fifth and final episode in my series Revisioning Christianity. The series began with the icon of anastasis and it ends with icons of holy women throughout history, religion, and mythology.Rev. Dr. Angela Yarber is the Founder and Executive Director of the Holy Women Icons Project. The Holy Women Icons Project seeks to empower marginalized women by telling the stories of revolutionary holy women through art, writing, and special events. Noticing a lack of women in iconography, she gave traditional iconography a folk-feminist twist by painting images of revolutionary holy women from history, mythology, and scripture. The Holy Women Icons Project also includes special events, retreats, workshops, lectures, sermons, and worship series related to these revolutionary holy women. And in 2017, HWIP began creating a retreat center on Hawaii Island to house these special events, artwork, and writings. Dr. Yarber speaks with John Shuck about her own journey toward simplicity, a renewed vocation, and her vision for queering the church by making the church fully inclusive and empowering for all people. She discusses her move to Hawaii with her wife and child, turning Holy Women Icons Project into a non-profit, her work in building self-esteem among adolescent girls, traversing grief, and honoring the stories of queer women of color through the Holy Women Icons Project. You can see and hear more of their story on the television show, Tiny House Nation. Rev. Dr. Yarber holds a Ph.D. in Art and Religion and is author of seven books that address the intersections among gender/sexuality, religion/spirituality, and the arts. An ordained, queer clergywoman, she served local churches for fourteen years, and she has taught graduate and undergraduate students since 2006. Her books include Microaggressions in Ministry, Holy Women Icons, Holy Women Icons Contemplative Coloring Book, The Gendered Pulpit, Dance in Scripture, Tearing Open the Heavens, & Embodying the Feminine in the Dances of the World's Religions. Other guests in the series, Revisioning Christianity include: John Dominic Crossan, Resurrecting Easter: How the West Lost and the East kept the Original Easter Vision, Bart Ehrman: The Triumph of Christianity: How A Forbidden Religion Swept the World, David Skrbina: The Jesus Hoax: How St. Paul’s Cabal Fooled the World for Two Thousand Years, andBishop John Shelby Spong: Unbelievable: How Neither Ancient Creeds nor the Reformation Can Produce a Living Faith Today. All of those interviews are available on podcast at Progressive Spirit.

9 am Eastern, Thursdays, "The Tufts Get Going!" host Rosanna Tufts: "Politics and the Polis." Did you know we get our word for "politics" from the original Greek word, "polis?" The ancient Greeks had the idea that citizenship was a sacred duty. We are not merely citizens of a society, but of a cosmos. The ideals of a citizen were laid out in Aristotle's "Nicomachaean Ethics" . . . and have been revived for a modern audience by Gwendolyn Reece in a talk she gave at the Parliament of the World's Religions! She joins me this morning to discuss how we can embody these citizenship qualities in our own lives. Hint: "Scholae" is a big part of this -- the time that is NOT preoccupied with the busyness of life. How you use your Scholae, determines your character. Does our society provide enough meaningful opportunities to develop this? If not, what can we do about it? (Rescheduled from an earlier time slot.)

As far back as my childhood memories can take me, I cannot ever remember a time when I was not aware of spirits or beings from another dimension. I recall so much more than just a very vivid child's imagination. The visions I saw were haunting and alarming. I remember being so engulfed with fear upon the manifestation of a spirit and running over to my parents room (of which we were never allowed to enter without knocking). I knocked on the door sobbing and told my parents that I was afraid and afraid of death. My mother shouted to me from the other side of the door that it was just a dream and to go back to bed. I have studied diligently, the World's Religions and Theology. I received my Ordination in July 2010. It is my wish to be able to help others in need as well as expand my knowledge in Paranormal Psychology. The Journey is far from over and takes place day after day, especially in the area where I live where there are boundless Confederate Soldiers that walk the streets, over and over. Spirits talking and moving about. Now though, there is a comfort within me. I am also wiser and more in control of my surroundings than I was when I was younger. My journey is peaceful and I am accepting of this gift. I understand it is impossible to believe in life after death and with it, not believe in spirits. After all, this is what we are and how we will be our choice is our destination. I saw Christ. He is more beautiful and loving than you will ever realize. His words to me, "Isn't that what you asked for?" with a loving smile on His face. More love than we can fathom than I could fathom. Like being a 4 year old child with a very loving parent. My spirit knew instantly who He was, and I was never afraid. 1 question only!
