What is a Delilah Spirit? A seducing, enticing, and weakening spirit, that pesters you daily to annoy and frustrate you until you give in. Judges 16:5 & 6 Seducing messenger Judges 16:16-19 Daily pressures to make you change your mind. It lulls you to sleep, then blinds you spiritually and torments you so you forfeit your God given purpose. Samson was bound with chains and physically blinded – enslaved by compromise. Judges 16:21 When God wants to bless you, He sends a person. When the devil tries to entrap you he also sends a person.   How can you discern if a Delilah spirit is at work? Your “NO” means nothing to others – they persist until they get their way You know what God has told you, but you're tired of the opposition You would rather make others happy because of their constant pressure- in turn you deceive yourself You leave the house of worship God called you to, because your family does not approve and pesters you about it. There is a slow decline of wanting to please man more than God. What are some other clues a Delilah spirit is at work? Your identity is wrapped in your gift and pride becomes your downfall Gifting is more important than character to you and being seen by man is elevated above the God who sees you. Compromise, deception, and pride give access to the spirit of Delilah – which leads to death. Samson had a call on his life, but he was full of compromise. With such a strong beginning of an angel announcing his birth, to leaving a legacy of compromise and moral weakness. It was for freedom that Christ set us free. Therefore, keep standing firm and do not subject yourself again to a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1 The Bible is clear that casting out demons is biblical- and every believer should do this. Mark 16:17 I believe casting out demons is an elementary teaching, a basic teaching every believer should have. As mature believers we should know how to live demon free, not just how to cast a demon out. This topic should not create a big hype as if it wasn't modeled by our Lord Jesus. He consistently cast out demons. We should too! More importantly, we should graduate to living a life without being under the influence of a demon. Live your life sold out to Jesus, filled with the power of God that demons recognize you and tremble in your presence. Don't be deceived into always looking for a demon to cast out. Live your life right before God – opportunities abound when you are sold out to Christ. Maturity in your walk is needed – not hype - Eph. 4:14-15 Learn to wage a good warfare- having faith and a good conscience. Don't find yourself shipwrecked in faith. 1 Tim. 1:18 & 19 Gal. 3:1-6 O foolish Galatians who has bewitched you. Deliverance is children's bread – in other words deliverance and casting out demons belongs to the children of God. Matt. 15:21-28 The mother whose daughter was severely demon possessed was delivered of demons and healed because the mother had great faith. Matt. 15:28 Your effectiveness in casting out demons is dependent upon your walk of obedience and the person's willingness to be set free, the same is true of healing. God is looking for a generation who is ready to end the old ways of rebellion and truly seek the Lord with all their heart. A Jacob generation is what the Lord is looking for. How is anyone's heart changed from the old to the new? By seeking the Lord with all your heart from a right motive. A Jacob generation marks a people with a change of heart. Jacob was marked with a new beginning when God changed his name from Jacob to Israel. When Jacob sought after God in his time of need and prevailed in prayer, the answer came. Seeking His face is desiring a deeper relationship with the Lord. Ps. 24:5-6 Those who seek His face shall receive a blessing from Him. This promise shows the heart of our Lord, “Come to Me for I have great blessings in store for you.” We must come with the right heart motive. A motive that is utterly dependent and desperate for all of Him, His leading in your life and a total surrender to His ways and not your own. Jacob was coming to settle in the Promised Land when he received news that his estranged brother Esau was coming to attack him with 400 men. Jacob sought the Lord all night and prevailed. Both Saul and Jonathan were killed in battle. David did not forget his covenant with Jonathan and asked is there anyone left from the house of Jonathan who I may honor? 2 Sam.4:4 Mephibosheth was 5 years old, when Saul his grandfather and Jonathan his father had died in battle. His nurse took Mephibosheth and fled. As she made haste to flee, Mephibosheth fell and became lame. Mephibosheth means man of shame. David kept true to his covenant of kindness and friendship. 2 Sam 9:3-13 David showed mercy to Mephibosheth. A prototype of our Lord who redeems, restores, and returns us to our Father's table in peace. Lo Debar means no pasture, no communication, land of nothing! David's kindness must have overwhelmed any fear Mephibosheth may have had of David who was in the position his family was at one time as king. Yet David did not treat Mephibosheth as a prisoner of war but was faithful to keep his covenant he made with Jonathan. Mephibosheth, man of shame was in Lo Debar- land of nothing! But the Lord raised him up to sit at the Kings table for the rest of his life. He was provided for! We came in sin and emptiness and received the gift of salvation and entered a covenant relationship with Jesus! In Christ, you are the light of the world, your obedience is your strength. “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.” Matt. 5:14 The “I Will” is NO Match for the “I Am!” Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty! Darkness cannot overcome the light! John 1:5 “the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” Comprehend: Seize, lay hold of, overcome it - Darkness cannot understand you! To the Christian, light is not only greater than darkness, but outlasts it and overcomes it! Jesus said, “No one takes My life, I lay it down.” Jesus, the Light of the world, in His obedience was His strength. “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life.” John 8:12 The devil cannot handle your obedience because you represent Christ to him, and Jesus publicly shamed the devil at the cross. When the devil sees you, he knows you represent the one who brought him to shame! “Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.” Col. 2:15 When you speak your identity in Christ, the devil cannot tell who you are from who Jesus is! Because you have been grafted in! You have been raised up with Christ! You carry His name, His identity, His authority! Honor and provision are closely connected. If there is no honor their will be no provision. No disciple will follow a teacher unless you know they walk uprightly and are appointed by the Lord. John 3:2 Nicodemus came by night and inquired of Jesus. He recognized position before he received the provision. You cannot receive the provision until you honor the position. Honor the vessel of God and know they are sent from God, or you will not receive anything from them. Nicodemus positioned himself in faith and therefore He received from Jesus. At the great wedding of Cana, the first miracle according to the gospel of John chapter 2 the fulfillment of the need followed the honor of the vessel. When Mary honored position, the provision followed.  They filled the six pots of water present with water to the brim at the instruction of Jesus because Mary would not disregard the vessel of Honor that was present. She understood the principle of honor and therefore everyone present received from Jesus, the vessel of honor. It was in the drawing of the water that the miracle happened. When you draw on the living water, the ordinary goes to extraordinary. Are you drawing from the well? Are you drawing from the right well? Draw from Jesus and your life will increase. Faith without corresponding action does not perform. There was an action before faith performed. Once honor was established provision became available. Sometimes you may feel like you cannot hear the voice of God. But even God's silence is still speaking. You can sit before the Lord and not hear a thing and yet receive everything you need. Belief and honor make a way for the provision from Jesus and from one another. Once the vessels were filled up then poured out the miracle happened. When He fills you up and pours you out, then you see the miraculous happen in your life. John 4 Jesus sat by Jacob's well. Jesus was tired, but He sat by the well. The best thing you can do when you are tired is to sit. Sit by the wells of Salvation. To sit in Jesus' presence is the best thing to do when fatigued or discouraged. Jehovah Jireh – God will provide! During Abraham's most difficult trial, his test of faith proved Jehovah Jireh was his only Source! In Genesis 22 the Lord asked him to offer his son, his only son, Isaac as a burnt offering. His testing was not about human sacrificing for God clearly forbids that, but the testing of his faith. In Genesis 22:5 the key to his victory is clearly stated. The nuclear family is under attack, but the Lord said I will trouble those who trouble you. Church we must stand up to the attack and attack the attackers. Disney's agenda, gender confusion, and puberty blockers are some of the topics that are indoctrinating our youth of this day. There is an irreverence to the Lord God, and many are falling for a lukewarm Christianity, but the Lord had some stern things to say about that. We must speak up and stand in the gap and pray for this is the time to be bold as a lion. This is not a time to sit back and expect other people to do your job. Jesus began His public ministry in a way that offended many, for the offense of the mind had to occur to weed out the false from the genuine.   Jesus was born in Bethlehem, the House of Bread, and raised in Nazareth, a town historically known as one of the lowliest places on earth.   Matthew 2:23 He came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, “He shall be called a Nazarene.”   Can anything good come out of Nazareth? Nathaniel asked this question in John 1:46 The Jews viewed Nazareth as one of the lowliest places on earth and that nothing good could come of it. But God chose to have His Son, the Savior of the world live in Nazareth. God choses the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, the weak things to shame the strong. 1 Cor. 1:27 & 28   Jesus, the Nazarian, the Branch of the Lord that would come and establish righteousness! Jesus the Branch that can be transplanted and grafted into a human life. Rom. 11:17 & 18   Romans 11:17& 18- But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, although a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing root of the olive tree, 18 do not be arrogant toward the branches. If you are, remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you.   Isaiah 11:1-3 A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him—the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord and he will delight in the fear of the Lord.   John 15: 1-4 I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.   He began His public ministry in Nazareth He offended many in that town with His teachings. As King Herod was fooled by the wise men, Pharaoh the king of Egypt was fooled by the midwives! Herod wanted to destroy Jesus as Pharaoh wanted to destroy Moses. The assigned executioners did not follow the plot assigned to them because they feared and obeyed God more than man. The Hebrew midwives were instructed to kill the male children at the time of birth in Exodus 1:16 because of Pharoah's increasing jealousy and insecurity towards the Hebrews.  Yet the hand of God was with His people, and they continued to be fruitful and increased despite the persecution against them. When Herod was deceived by the wise men, he sent forth word to put to death all the male children born in Bethlehem from two years old and under. The Power of the Holy Spirit has Conceived a Promise In You Pregnant with promise! “Joseph, that which is conceived in Mary, that which is orientated, created and developed in her is of the Holy Spirit.”  Matthew 1:20 In the Jewish culture the engagement was a prenuptial contract. It could only be nullified by going through the formal divorce process. Mary, engaged to Joseph, still lived with her parents, until the public marriage ceremony took place. The engagement period was usually entered into when the girl turned 13. Mary was just a teenager when she was engaged and gave birth. The angel who appeared to Joseph in a dream told him not to be afraid to take Mary as your wife also told him, “She will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people form their sins.” Matthew 1:21 Jesus – the Hebrew name for Jesus is Yeshua and means Yahweh is salvation, restoration, and deliverance. This was a prophecy fulfilled: “Behold the virgin shall be with child and bear Son and they shall call His name Immanuel, which is translated, God with us. Matthew 1:23 Joseph arose from his sleep and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife Mary and did not know her until she brought forth her firstborn Son, Jesus. Faith! Trust! Obedience! All in the face impossible circumstances. Pregnant by God! Never heard of before. Yet it was true. Highest form of purity and simplicity, yet would have been considered scandalous, and impossible. Beyond anything they thought of or imagined possible, yet God choose them to bring about His perfect will. If He did it for me, He can do it for you! The Lord reached out to this young, timid, messed up girl at 23 years old and completely changed her life. Paul was spreading the gospel and opposition was rising up against him. When you step out to do the will of God, the greatest opposition rises up against you to try and stop you. Yet there are two specific remedies to overcome the opposition and take the land. Act 13:49 Paul was spreading the word of the Lord, but persecution was rising up against him. Instead of falling for the enemy tactics Paul shook the dust off his feet and kept doing the will of God! There are two things every believer must remember when facing opposition: #1 Shake the dust off your feet #2 Keep the oil of the Lord flowing The widow woman with two sons had a great debt with no money to take care of her family. But she had oil. She had a little oil. But that little oil was enough oil to bring forth a miracle in the face of her opposition as long as she acted in faith and obeyed the man of God, the prophet. With her little bit of oil, she followed the prophets decree and the oil continued to pour until the vessels stopped being present. The oil of the Lord will continue to flow in your life as long as you obey the will of God! There was great opposition for this widow woman, but her obedience was the catalyst to her provision. You are a vessel of the Lord. Don't be falling the opposition around you. Ilene came to my miracle service and had been diagnosed with peripheral blindness. Her license was taken away due to the loss of sight. The Lord healed part of her blindness that very moment!
