Aufgewachsen in Köln, ist die Betriebswirtin und Kommunikationsexpertin Selina seit sechs Jahren als Wahlberlinerin in der deutschen Hauptstadt. Unser heutiger Gast ist Tarek Müller. Tarek entwickelt seit mehr als fünfzehn Jahren digitale Geschäftsmodelle für den Online-Handel und ist zudem bekannt für seine Rolle als Mitgründer und Geschäftsführer des internationalen Online Shops ABOUT YOU. Mit 15 Jahren meldete Tarek sein erstes Gewerbe an, später baute er zahlreiche E-Commerce-Modelle in unterschiedlichen Branchen auf, bis er 2014 schließlich Mitgründer bei ABOUT YOU wurde, einem in Europa marktführenden Online Fashion Shop mit einer konsequenten Fokussierung auf Personalisierung, Inspiration und Mobile-Endgeräte. Zudem hält Tarek über 15 Firmenbeteiligungen in ganz unterschiedlichen Bereichen, vor allem IT und Beratung, und zählte 2018 zu den Forbes 30 Under 30 in der Kategorie Einzelhandel und eCommerce. Unser heutiger Gast ist Nour Khelifi. Die Wienerin arbeitet als Journalistin, Drehbuchautorin, Speakerin und Online Content Creator in Berlin und Wien. Während des Studiums schlägt Nour den Weg des Journalismus ein und schreibt und arbeitet u.a für den ORF, die Wiener Zeitung und Yahoo Germany. Sie beschäftigt sich mit der österreichischen Politik, deutsch-österreichischer Gesellschaftspolitik, sowie Diversität, Repräsentation, Identität und Jugendpolitik. Die preisgekrönte Journalistin ist u.a neben dem Prälat Leopold Ungar-Ehrenpreis auch zu den besten 30 Journalisten unter 30 in Österreich ausgezeichnet worden - und das mit erst 22 Jahren. Unser heutiger Gast bei CONNECTING PEOPLE ist Claudia Spitz. Claudia arbeitet als selbstständige Eventmanagerin in Wien. Geboren und aufgewachsen in Kärnten, zog sie nach ihrer Matura für ihr Publizistik und Kunstgeschichte Studium nach Wien. Nach erfolgreichem Abschluss war sie jahrelang bei den Wiener Festwochen tätig bis sie Im Jahre 2002 ihre eigene Eventagentur ‘events_by_spitz’ gründete. Claudia ist ein bekannter Name in ihrer Branche: Zu ihren Kunden zählen unter anderem IBM Austria, Erste Bank und Erste Stiftung, Viennale und auch der Life Ball, sowie private Veranstaltungen wie Hochzeiten und Geburtstage. Wir haben mit Claudia über viele spannende Dinge gesprochen wie zum Beispiel ihre Anfänge in der Eventbranche, wie man eine Agentur ohne Online Präsenz aufbaut und warum man auf sein eigenes Bauchgefühl hören sollte.
Unser Gast in der achten Epsiode der deutschsprachigen Version con CONNECTING PEOPLE ist Miriam Hie, ausgebildete Schauspielerin, geboren und aufgewachsen in Oberösterreich. Bekannt wurde Miriam 2002 als erste asiatische Moderatorin im österreichischen Fernsehen, wo sie für den ORF das Jugendmagazin "25" moderierte. Ihre berufliche Laufbahn führte sie später auch zum ZDF. Als Moderatorin des Kinomagazins "Lichtspiele" wurde sie 2013 als beste deutschsprachige Moderatorin für eine Romy nominiert. Seit 2014 moderiert Miriam Hie die Morningshow auf Radio Superfly. Im Herbst 2019 feiert sie erfolgreich ihre Premiere mit dem selbstgeschriebenen Comedy - Soloprogramm "Who is Hie". Wir sprachen mit Miriam über ihren spannenden Werdegang, ihre Jugendträume, wie ihr Umzug in die Stadt verlief und vor allem was Repräsentation für sie bedeutet.

Im Alter von 15 Jahren kam Bernd für eine handwerkliche Ausbildung nach Wien und entdeckte dort seine wahre Leidenschaft: Die Gastronomie. Sie ist gelernte Frisörin, lebt und arbeitet zur Zeit in Wien und hat durch ihre bisherigen beruflichen Erfahrungen gelernt, wie wichtig mentale Gesundheit ist. Macarena ist es auch wichtig, ein Vorbild für junge Frauen zu sein und ihnen zu zeigen, dass man sich durch Nichts und Niemanden einschüchtern lassen soll. Wir sprachen mit Macarena über ihre Definition von Erfolg, welche Vorturteile es manchen Berufsgruppen gegenüber immer noch gibt und wie man lernen kanan, auf das eigene Bauchgefühl zu hören.
Unser heutiger Gast bei CONNECTING PEOPLE ist Denise Vorraber. Denise ist nicht nur eine angesehene Pitch-Trainerin in Österreich, sondern auch opinion leader, wenn es um das Thema Startups geht. Mit nur 23 Jahren schaffte es Denise auf die Forbes 30 under 30 DACH Liste und hat bereits mit unzähligen Unternehmen zusammengearbeitet, um mit ihnen den nächsten wichtigen Schritt zu gehen. Wir sprachen mit Denise über den Alltag als Pitch Trainerin und wie es dazu kam, dass sie zu einem so wichtigen Teil der österreichischen Startup Szene wurde.
Unser Gast in der vierten Epsiode von CONNECTING PEOPLE ist Alexis Weil, der Gründer von seniors@work. Vor der Gründung studierte Alexis Finance&Accounting und sammelte berufliche Erfahrung in den Bereichen Finanz- und Versicherungswesen. 2018 entschloss er sich, seinen eigenen Weg zu gehen und gründete die Online Job-Vermittlungsplattform senior@work. Das Start up hat sich zum Ziel gemacht, innovative Ansätze für das Arbeiten im Alter zu entwickeln und so den Kontakt zwischen der jüngeren und der älteren Generation zu fördern. Alexis spricht über die Unterschiede zwischen den Generationen, woran wir als Gesellschaft in Zukunft arbeiten können und seine persönlichen Erfahrungen als Gründer.
Unser Gast in der dritten deutschsprachigen Folge von CONNECTING PEOPLE ist Alexandra Stanic. Alex ist seit Mai 2019 Chefreporterin für VICE.com für die D-A-CH Region und behandelt in ihren Texten Themen wie Feminismus, Migration und Gesellschaftskritik. Bis Oktober 2018 war Alex Chefreporterin bei BIBER und Leiterin der Lehrredaktion, bei der sie mitverantwortlich war für Journalismus Kurse für geflüchtete Medienschaffende aus Syrien, Afghanistan und Tschetschenien. Zudem porträtiert Alex seit 2015 im Zuge von feministischen Fotoprojekten Frauen, mit denen sie unter anderem über Rassismus, psychische Erkrankungen, gefährliche Schönheitsideale und sexualisierte Gewalt spricht.

Listen to Ryan Mario Yasin, a 27-year-old design engineer with a background in aeronautics. Ryan invented, photographed, and promoted his brand Petit Pli in 2017, while he was a Global Innovation Design student. Since graduating in 2017, he has evolved Petit Pli’s designs from a proof of concept to a patent-pending commercially available design. Ryan’s motivation to engineer a solution that reduces waste in childrenswear was inspired by his nephew. The realization brought light to the fact that childrenswear on the market is miniaturized adult clothing; design unfit for their users. To realize Petit Pli, Ryan set out to understand the needs of parents, children, retailers, and manufacturers to create a novel design using his understanding of deployable satellites and origami structures.

Listen to Rebecca Morter, a London-based fashion designer, consultant and entrepreneur. After leaving her home country New Zealand and studying at London College of Fashion, Rebecca took the plunge and co-founded the experimental womenswear brand REIN London. Though successful, REIN faced challenges because the old fashion model blocked the vital connection with the end-consumer and the feedback you get with direct contact. Rebecca wanted to bring change for smaller brands incorporating her understanding of design with her passion for sustainable fashion. And so LDC was born, having a positive impact in supporting and empowering others, whilst rebelling against the traditional wholesale route. With LDC, Rebecca wants to ensure that independent designers feel a sense of community and wants customers to explore more than just the product through purposeful storytelling. With over 20 pop-up stores under their belt, LDC is going through a period of huge expansion.

Our impressive guest for the pilot episode of CONNECTING PEOPLE was Brooke Roberts-Islam, Director of the Brooke Roberts Innovation Agency (BRIA) and Founder of Techstyler, a publishing platform uncovering the newest innovations in sustainability and fashion-tech through journalism and events. Brooke has a background in digital knitwear design and over a decade of experience as a diagnostic radiographer within the NHS. She is also a public speaker and regularly invited to talk about the latest in sustainability and fashion tech. In addition to her design and materials development work, Brooke is the sustainability and fashion tech editor of Chaos 69 Magazine, as well as being a contributor for the Forbes.
