In August 2021, Just Peoples.org was the first YTM Ripple Grant recipient to enable Just Peoples Project Leader Elizabeth (Liz) , a physiotherapist for nearly 20 years in Kenya. After finding it too difficult to turn away children living with disabilities who were unable to pay her fees, Liz committed to provide free support to Maasai families who have a child living with a disability. In addition to supporting children through treatment and diagnosis, Liz also runs holistic programs to break the stigma facing children living with disabilities in Maasailand, who are traditionally hidden away from society in dark mud houses. You will hear how Liz educates Maasai mothers and fathers and debunks the belief that having a child born with a disability is a curse on the family. She shows them that with the right support and treatment, their kids can still live fulfilling lives. She trains parents on how they can meet their children's specific needs and works with entire communities to help shift the current stigma facing children living with disabilities so they can thrive and participate in wider society.Liz shares the outcome of the 3 day camp she ran as a result of funding through Just Peoples, supported by YTM Ripple , and her plans for the coming year. The ripple effect is something you too can create within your own family setting and can experience the growth and fulfillment that meaningful conversations and relationships can drive.Contact: Just Peoples.orgContact: www.kerryn-powell.com.au
The start of a New Year is always a good time to set yourself goals, both personally and professionally that support your growth and fulfillment. How do you define growth and fulfillment? In this episode, Kerryn Powell, The Network Catalyst speaks with Sara Shams, instagram account holder of No Legs_ no worries.Kerryn meet Sara in 2018, through the START foundation, who empower amputees in life through sport, by providing grants to purchase sports prosthesis or adaptive equipment, to help them achieve their sporting dreams. However, even though being born without legs has its challenges, but it isn't necessarily something I have had to overcome. Yes, it may be a little harder to reach certain goals (such as the B2B fun run!) but we achieve these goals in spite of our disabilities, not because of it."Sara started her instagram page as almost a documentation of her journey - in hopes that it will help even just one person experiencing a similar situation. In January, she clocked 10k followers.Kerryn and Sara will prompt your thinking on what personal growth and fulfillment mean to you as you gain insight to Sara's plan for the coming year.Connect with Sara: https://www.instagram.com/nolegs_noworriesConnect with Kerryn: https://www.kerryn-powell.com.au

Meet Michelle Jelleff, a founding director and Chair of the START foundation, an organisation that empowers amputees in life through sport. Hear how Michelle's life has been a maze of twists and turns and anything but conventional, not intentionally but rather more of an organic process.Michelle's passion for sport and the outdoors have given her some extraordinary experiences. What has she learnt along the way?Michell's experiences have taught and reinforced that she is strong on both the inside and outside. She is able to go deep within herself and identify an approach to most challenges and opportunities that are thrown at her. They are not always pleasant, but she tries to take an optimistic and solution driven approach. She also tries to stay in the moment as it's often when you are challenged the most, you learn the most about yourself and others. In 2013 when her sister-in-law, Kerryn Harvey, almost lost her life through a cycling accident and became an amputee, it certainly tested the entire family and friendship circle. The establishment of START foundation has enabled Michelle to culminate all her personal and professional experience toward the mission of empowering amputees in life through sport. In many ways, it's the most rewarding role of her career.START foundation empowers amputees in life through sport, by providing grants to purchase sports prosthesis or adaptive equipment, to assist them to achieve their sporting dreams. Sport allows amputees to engage and interact with family, peers and their community without their disability being front and centre. What started from a simple conversation between five friends has grown into a Facebook Group named "Women on Walks" where 1900 women (and growing) from near and far are drawn together. From two hour walks around Bayside, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia to venturing out to often overlooked paths on their door step, "Women on Walks" has provided an opportunity to for women from 18 to 78 years old to connect and belong.Brain child of Annie Vickers- Willis, a tennis coach for more than 40 years, shares with Kerryn how she researches the walks and has created a variety of activities to bind the group, even through the lockdown restrictions, keeping her community actively engaged online and sharing their enjoyment in walking.A labour of love and desire to help others, Annie hopes that she may inspire others through her endeavour to start their own local group to connect and contribute to their community. To contact with Kerryn Powell, The Network Catalyst visit www.kerryn-powell.com.au
A conversation with Lucas Patchett, one of the co-founders of Orange Sky, a for purpose organisation, explores the story behind regular shower and laundry services they provide for homeless through 33 vans plus an opportunity for safe, positive and supportive conversations across Australia and New Zealand.Orange Sky is one of the world's first free mobile laundry services for people experiencing homelessness. In what started out as an idea for hygiene standard and to restore dignity to people doing it tough has evolved into something much bigger and more powerful. You'll hear how volunteers have engaged in more than 232, 000 hours of conversation and how Orange Sky is currently changing the perception of homelessness by positively connecting community through conversation right across Australia and changing the perception of homelessness.Mike Yankoski - an American writer and speaker, prompts us to think beyond ourselves when we wrote“Sometimes it's easy to walk by because we know we can't change someone's whole life in a single afternoon. But what we fail to realize it that simple kindness can go a long way toward encouraging someone who is stuck in a desolate place.”We learn that by connecting and contributing to community through action Lucas , his Co- founder, Nic and over 200 volunteers with Orange Sky ...embody the quote “A rising tide lifts all boats”.For further details contact www.orangesky.org.au or www.kerryn-powell.com.au

Meet Kerryn Powell, The Network Catalyst who believes "Anything is possible when you invest time in building a supportive network, personally and professionally"Fundamentally Kerryn believes relationships are the key to achieving growth, and relationships grow from conversations that build mutual understanding and trust.Working as The Network Catalyst is hugely rewarding because of the ripple effect—together we forge connections that amplify opportunities, and inspire people in business to experience the power and endless potential of networking to build relationships.
Kerryn Powell, The Network Catalyst enjoys conversation. She knows through conversations you can amplify your message, inspire others, expand your thinking, share knowledge and experience.Conversations are the way to open doors and opportunities. Conversations build relationships. Here Kerryn speaks with Janine Garner, author of Be Brilliant: How to Lead a Life of Influence (her third book, following the bestselling It's Who You Know.)Be Brilliant explores why we are so exhausted with, well, just being so exhausted! We are sure you can relate, especially given recent world events. What Kerryn loves most about Janine's work is that she is not afraid to throw rocks at arguments and approaches we've been told before. For example, while she no doubt respects Simon Sinek's work around the importance of WHY, she explores how this has made us even more anxious than ever before. Her solution is to first focus on WHO we are, who we want to become, and who we surround ourselves with. She challenges us that we are already perfectly imperfect and brilliant, and she does that by walking us through her 4 laws of brilliance.Originally, Kerryn met Janine networking, and firmly agrees with the power of connections and that is why she was not afraid to stick her hand up and cheer on this book and Janine's work. Being part of this project and Janine's network demonstrates that there is always a way... when you have a supportive network, and anything is possible.Kerryn and Janine live and breathe connection and want to help make a difference.Enjoy the conversation and as Janine writes "Be Brilliant"More details and to purchase the book visit- bebrilliantbook.comTo contact Kerryn Powell, for more conversations to inspire you- visit kerryn-powell.com.auBe Brilliant explores why we are so exhausted with, well, just being so exhausted!
