It answers the practical question: if you accept that Islam is true — what does life actually look like? The five pillars, explained plainly. The daily texture of a Muslim life. You begin with one sentence, and the rest unfolds. The closing invitation of the Islam and Evidence series.

Islam makes a distinction that almost never appears in media coverage: the distinction between what a person feels and what a person chooses to do.Islamic theology holds that accountability is for choices, not for inclinations one did not ask for. Same-sex attraction is understood as a test — and the person experiencing it is not lesser in God's sight because of it. What is regulated is the action — and the same regulation applies equally to everyone, regardless of the attraction they experience. This episode presents Islam's actual position with theological accuracy and without political framing.

The lesser jihad, defined by strict conditions in Quran and hadith, is regulated defensive warfare with explicit protections for civilians. This episode untangles the word from the terrorism it is falsely associated with — and shows what the Quran and authenticated hadith actually say.

He had no accessible Arabic source to copy from. The first Arabic Bible was translated 300 years after his death. He met the one Christian scholar who might have influenced him exactly twice — and that scholar died within months of the first revelation, while the Quran continued for 23 more years. This episode exhausts every alternative explanation — deliberate invention, external learning, psychological delusion, copying from existing texts — and shows how each one collapses. Not the whole book — one chapter. The greatest Arabic poets of the 7th century heard this challenge. They called the Quran magic because they could not place it in any known literary category. The challenge remains unanswered today. This episode examines why the literary uniqueness of the Quran is not a matter of taste — and why it constitutes a testable, falsifiable claim about its origin.Episode 1 of a four-part examination.

Most people encounter Sharia through its most extreme applications. But Sharia has four layers — and three of those four are prayer, charity, ethics, and honest dealings in everyday life. The fourth layer contains the punishments the media discusses. But the conditions required to apply them are so strict that Islamic scholars have written for centuries that they function as deterrents, not as regular practice. The Quran requires four eyewitnesses to adultery. A Caliph suspended the theft punishment during a famine. What does Sharia actually ask of an ordinary Muslim? How do you evaluate a claim to prophethood? This episode applies three tests to Muhammad, peace be upon him: what did he stand to gain, did his actions match his words, and did his predictions come true? The results are striking. He turned down wealth, kingship, and all of Arabia to stop preaching. He died with his armor mortgaged for food. His own scripture corrected him publicly — permanently. He made specific predictions about future empires and events that were fulfilled. The profile of a fraud and the profile of a prophet look very different.

The Quran makes a direct claim: "It was not possible for this Quran to be produced by other than Allah." In this episode, we test that claim across four independent lines of evidence: a literary challenge open for 1,400 years and still unanswered, scientific descriptions confirmed only centuries after revelation, perfect preservation without a single letter changed, and the remarkable fact that its carrier was an illiterate man who had nothing to gain by lying. Each line of evidence is worth considering on its own. Together, they demand a serious answer.

Every framework humans use to answer this — pleasure, success, legacy, love — eventually runs out. Pleasure ends. Success fades. Legacy is forgotten. The Quran gives a different answer in chapter 51, verse 56: "I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me." This episode unpacks what the Arabic word ibadah actually means — not just ritual, but all of life oriented toward God — and explores why a purpose that doesn't expire changes how you experience even the smallest moments. Including why a smile carries the weight of charity.

If God is good, all-powerful, and all-knowing — why is there suffering? This is the most common objection to belief in God. The Quran doesn't avoid it. Chapter 2, verse 155 states directly: "We will surely test you." Not maybe. Not if things go wrong. Certainly. This episode examines the Quranic framework for understanding suffering: that this life is not the destination but the journey, that hardship and ease are both tests, and that the patient will receive their reward without measure — from the One who created both the test and the person taking it.

Your immune system recognises millions of threats it has never encountered before. In this episode, we follow the Quran's direct instruction to look inward — at the architecture of the human eye, the language of DNA, and the extraordinary coordination of organs — and ask what this level of specified complexity implies about its Designer.

The Quran uses the same word — ayat — for its verses and for the phenomena of the natural world. Both are signs. This episode examines the fine-tuning of the physical universe: Earth's precise distance from the Sun, the exact oxygen concentration in our atmosphere, and water's unusual behavior when it freezes. Each condition is so precisely set that a small change in either direction makes life impossible. Precision like this raises a question.

Not only did the universe begin — it is still expanding, at an accelerating rate. Confirmed by scientists in the late 20th century using telescopes and red-shift measurements. Yet the Quran, in chapter 51, verse 47, uses the Arabic word Musi'oon — meaning "We are its Expander" — in a form indicating present, ongoing, continuous action. Not past tense. Not future. Now. In 1929, Edwin Hubble discovered the universe is expanding — which means, traced backwards, it had a definite beginning. This shook the scientific establishment, which had assumed the universe was eternal. But 1,400 years earlier, the Quran stated in chapter 21, verse 30 that the heavens and earth were "joined together" before being "split apart." This episode examines what modern cosmology and the Quran agree on — and asks the question science cannot answer: what caused the beginning?

Something cannot come from nothing. You cannot create yourself. These aren't religious claims — they're logical axioms that have held throughout all of human experience. In this episode, we examine the Quranic question posed 1,400 years ago in chapter 52, verse 35: "Or were they created by nothing? Or were they themselves the creators?" We work through the only three possible answers to where the universe came from, and find that logic — not faith — points to a creator.

Before we argue whether God exists, we need to agree on what God is. Most people picture an old man on a cloud, an impersonal force, or one god among many. Islam rejects all of those — and defines God in four precise lines. This episode unpacks Surah Al-Ikhlas, the shortest chapter in the Quran, which Muslims consider the clearest definition of God ever given: One, the Eternal Refuge, unborn and unbegotten, unlike anything that exists. Understanding this definition changes the entire conversation about belief. If you've ever rejected God because the concept seemed vague or too human — this episode is for you.

Most people assume all religion works the same way: you reach a point where the evidence runs out, and then you take a leap of faith. This episode challenges that assumption.Islam makes a claim almost no one expects — that you don't have to leap at all. That if you follow the evidence honestly, all the way down, it leads you to a conclusion rather than a jump.In this opening episode, we walk through the full argument in miniature:• The universe had a beginning — and whatever begins has a cause.• What was created shows the marks of deliberate design.• A creator who builds for a purpose does not stay silent — and the message, the Quran, is itself the evidence.• A created life, given on purpose, ends in accountability. This is not a call to blind belief. It is an invitation to investigate.Faith, in Islam, is not where the thinking stops. It is where the thinking leads.Islam and Evidence is a series exploring the evidential foundations of Islamic belief — the universe, the design, the oneness of God, the problem of evil, the Quran, the Prophet, and the life that comes after this one.

In a single verse, the Quran encodes a precise mathematical conversion between the solar and lunar calendars — a calculation that would take human science centuries to confirm.Surah Al-Kahf (Chapter 18, Verse 25) describes the People of the Cave as remaining "300 years — and add nine." That phrasing is not poetic licence. It is a mathematical statement: 300 solar years equal exactly 309 lunar years, because the lunar calendar falls short of the solar by 11 days every year. This was revealed in 7th-century Arabia, to a people who had no tools to verify it.**THE MATHEMATICS BEHIND THE MIRACLE****The Verse**The Quran, in Surah Al-Kahf (Chapter 18, Verse 25), describes the People of the Cave:*"And they remained in their cave three hundred years, and add nine."*For centuries, readers wondered why the verse didn't simply say "three hundred and nine years." Why phrase it as 300 — *and add nine?***The Two Calendars**There are two ways to measure a year:- A **solar year** (based on the Earth orbiting the Sun) = approximately 365.25 days- A **lunar year** (based on the cycles of the Moon) = approximately 354.37 daysThe difference between them is about **11 days every year**. Over centuries, that small gap adds up.**The Calculation**- 300 solar years × 365.25 days = **109,575 days**- 109,575 days ÷ 354.37 days (one lunar year) = **309 lunar years**In other words: **300 solar years equal exactly 309 lunar years.**The Quran gave both figures in a single verse — 300 (solar) *and add nine* (to reach 309 lunar) — describing the same span of time in both calendar systems at once.**The Context**This was revealed in 7th-century Arabia, to a people who counted time by the moon and had no means of calculating the precise drift between solar and lunar years. The mathematics to verify this with certainty would not be widely available for over a thousand years.**Conclusion**A strange, exact addition — "and add nine" — turns out to be a precise mathematical conversion between two calendar systems. This is one of the many numerical signs found within the Quran.*This is not the word of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It is the word of Allah, who made the sun and the moon.*
