In funding news, Dailyhunt's parent VerSe Innovation raises $805 million, Wiz Freight raises $36.2 million, IndiQube raises $30 million and Enkash raises $20 million. Pixxel launches their first satellite into space: On 1st April 2022, Indian spacetech startup Pixxel launched their first satellite named ‘Shakuntala' into space onboard SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket. It is a hyperspectral imaging satellite - what it means is that it can click some extremely detailed images of earth from space and this data can be used by their customers for any number of crucial processes like monitoring mines, detecting leaks in oil and gas pipelines, analysing levels of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in soil and more. CCI probes Swiggy and Zomato for anti-competitive behaviour: Last year, the National Restaurants Association of India (NRAI) which represents over 500,000 restaurants across the country had filed a complaint with the Competition Commision of India (CCI) flagging anti-competitive practices used by these food delivery platforms. OkCredit shuts down their e-commerce enablement platform OkShop: Last month, we had reported that OkCredit had laid-off around 35-40 employees and the startup had confirmed the lay-offs saying that they were changing their priorities to focus more on their fintech initiatives. Now, we know a little bit more about the situation - OkCredit has decided to shut down their e-commerce enablement platform OkShop - which allowed kirana store/small business owners to set up their online storefront, create their product catalogues and share their inventory directly with their customers. Stanza Living acquires Singularity Automation: Coliving accommodation provider Stanza Living has acquired IoT (internet of things) based solutions provider Singularity Automation in an all-cash deal to manage all their properties more efficiently. Dailyhunt's parent VerSe Innovation raises $805 million: VerSe Innovation, the parent company of news aggregator platform Dailyhunt and short video app Josh, has raised $805 million in a round led by Canada Pension Plan Investment Board – raising their valuation from $3 billion to $5 billion in just eight months. Wiz Freight raises $36.2 million: Digital supply chain startup Wiz Freight has raised $36.2 million in a round led by Tiger Global Management to open two new R&D centres in Bengaluru and Singapore to strengthen their AI/ML, blockchain and IoT capabilities and to launch operations in 15 countries in Southeast Asia, Middle East and Africa. IndiQube raises $30 million: Co-working space provider IndiQube has raised $30 million in a round led by IndiQube's promoters, WestBridge Capital and angel investor Ashish Gupta (co-founder of Helion Ventures and Junglee) to expand their office space footprint to over 10 million square feet by adding properties across more than 15 tier 2 cities - over the next two years. Enkash raises $20 million: B2B fintech startup EnKash, which offers a single platform for businesses to manage their finances, has raised $20 million in a round led by Ascent Capital to invest in the development of their product and strengthen their technology platform and to expand their presence across MENA region.

He was a prominent lead actor in Hindi cinema from the Mid 1950s until the early 1970s and also made a debut in Tamil cinema with the 1992 blockbuster crime drama Amaran. He received the Filmfare Best Actor Award in 1968 for his performance in Brahmachari and Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for Vidhaata in 1982. Shammi Kapoor is hailed as one of the most entertaining lead actors that Hindi cinema has ever produced. He was one of the leading stars of Hindi cinema during the late 1950s, the 1960s and early 1970s. He made his Hindi Film debut in 1953 with the film Jeevan Jyoti, and went on to deliver superhits like Tumsa Nahin Dekha, Singapore, Dil deke dekho Junglee, College Girl, Professor, Rajkumar, China Town, Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, Kashmir Ki Kali, Janwar, Teesri Manzil, An Evening in Paris, Prince, Bramhachari, Sacchai and Andaz. This week on FC Flash, Akshay Kumar announces that Sooryavanshi will arrive in theaters on Eid 2020. Sooryavanshi is the fourth film in Rohit Shetty’s police universe.  Abhishek Chaubey’s Sonchiriya a film, about dakus in an existential crisis, was a critical hit but a commercial failure. It was speculated that one reason might be the Bundelkhandi dialect, which alienated viewers. The film was released with English subtitles but a Hindi dubbed version was also released. The film’s lead Sushant Singh Rajput tweeted that neither he nor the film’s senior cast had dubbed for the Hindi version and that this news was heartbreaking.  Meanwhile, the logo of Brahmastra was released on Mahashivratri at the Kumbh mela. The film is one of Bollywood’s most ambitious attempts to create a homegrown fantasy franchise.  Akshay Kumar wasn’t the only action star in the news this week. The trailers of John Abraham’s Romeo Akbar Walter and Vidyut Jammwal’s Junglee dropped. It was also a good week for Vicky Kaushal who has stepped into Irrfan’s very big shoes and will now be playing freedom fighter Udham Singh in the biopic being directed by Shoojit Sircar.

This week on FC Flash,  Ashish Patil, vice president of brand partnerships and talent management at Yash Raj Studios and Anirban Blah, co-founder and talent manager at Kwan Entertainment were asked to step down owing to sexual harassment charges.  Fox Studios suspended the services of Mukesh Chhabra on Kizzie aur Manny starring Sushant Singh Rajput. There are allegations that Rajput made his co-star Sanjana Sanghi uncomfortable on the sets of the film. The Producers Guild of India called for an extraordinary general meeting to amend its bylaws, making it compulsory for all members to implement the POSH law in their respective companies.   CINTAA held a press conference to announce that the association has formed two committees to address sexual harassment cases  The teaser of Junglee dropped – the film features a ripped Vidyut Jammwal and many elephants.  Karan Johar celebrated 20 years of his 90s blockbuster Kuch Kuch Hota Hai by organising a glamorous event where most of the key cast and crew gathered to reminisce about making his first film.

Ashish Gupta is an outlier for many reasons. A gold medalist in computer science from IIT Kanpur, Gupta built a startup (Junglee) and sold it to Amazon, has been through several near death experiences at his second startup (Tavant), and is now in the process of sunsetting his third entrepreneurial venture, Helion. None of the above make him an outlier though. Over years, Ashish has found a way into some of India’s biggest and most valued startups as an angel investor. From MakeMyTrip, to Flipkart and MuSigma, Gupta has been an early seed stage backer. It’s almost like getting a front tow seat in a blockbuster movie, and also being able to help produce it. There are very few investors who are as humble, intellectually honest and loved by the entrepreneurs. How and why does he stay that way?
