Super Human Radio is the world's first broadcast radio show dedicated to anti-aging, human performance, fitness and nutrition. We discuss topics that are taboo for other radio shows like the benefits of anabolic steroids, anti-aging medicine, raw food eating and much more. The show airs weekly on various radio stations throughout the US. Host Carl Lanore is possibly the most knowledgeable about the subject matter and is constantly praised by experts and guest who see him more as a peer than a talking head. The show is fast moving and entertaining while addressing some very scientific subjects and making it easy for everyone to understand.

SHR # 3024:: FDA/DEA Power Grab Over Peptides - Anthony Roberts - 503A and 503B of the FDA act called into question bulk drugs nominated for compounding as possibly having safety risks back in 2020. While many new peptides have been added to the list, technically none of the original list were truly “legal” for compounding pharmacies to be selling. But they continued to make and sell many of these peptides. The FDA is now exerting their power in this ruling and claiming everything these pharmacies sold and are selling is illegal. SHR # 3023:: The Prime Act - Getting the USDA Out From Your Farmers Way - John Moody - Farm to Consumer was never a reality for those of us who buy animal protein from local sources. The USDA stood between you and your farmer. Unless your farmer was a huge entity and had a USDA approved processing facility on their farm which is rare, all beef, poultry, pork and other forms of animal protein had to be taken to a USDA facility for processing. Aside of the cost which was passed on to the consumer, it caused logistical obstacles for small to medium sized farms that made it impossible for them to be profitable. I'm sure this was not accidental. There's a window of time for us to help farmers AND help ourselves to access local meats at greatly reduced prices while making it safer for consumption. - CARL RECOMMENDS: superhumanradio.net/carl-recommends - - View and download all shows at https://superhumanradio.net - Visit us on Instagram: @superhumanradio - Support SHR - https://superhumanradio.net/make-a-donation

SHR # 3017:: An Electron is An Electron is An Electron - John Baxter - Health Implications of Reconnecting the Human Body to the Earth's Surface Electrons - Environmental medicine generally addresses environmental factors with a negative impact on human health. However, emerging scientific research has revealed a surprisingly positive and overlooked environmental factor on health: direct physical contact with the vast supply of electrons on the surface of the Earth. Modern lifestyle separates humans from such contact. The research suggests that this disconnect may be a major contributor to physiological dysfunction and un-wellness. Reconnection with the Earth's electrons has been found to promote intriguing physiological changes and subjective reports of well-being. Earthing (or grounding) refers to the discovery of benefits—including better sleep and reduced pain—from walking barefoot outside or sitting, working, or sleeping indoors connected to conductive systems that transfer the Earth's electrons from the ground into the body. - CARL RECOMMENDS: superhumanradio.net/carl-recommends - - View and download all shows at https://superhumanradio.net - Visit us on Instagram: @superhumanradio - Support SHR - https://superhumanradio.net/make-a-donation
SHR # 3016:: The BRAIN Can be Wrong About PAIN - Dr. Amy Baxter, MD FAAP FACEP, CEO plus Chief Medical Officer - Summary: Doctors don't learn much about pain in medical school. Purdue Pharma taught us in the 90's that a pill could fix pain, the goal was pain free, and outpatient opioids aren't addictive. We now know the latter isn't true, but the damage is done: we still believe the first two. Instead, new fMRI data shows us pain is mostly what we EXPECT to feel, and is a mix of physiology, fear, and control. The brain can be wrong about pain, and it can be overruled, and it can be tricked a little with some brain "connectome" hacks. In case it's a big deal, wanted to give you the chance to get dibs on a podcast if your listeners would like this. On our website we will be focusing on appropriate post-surgical home pain relief, opioid use disorder risk factors, and the research on how exercise and ignoring chronic pain work from a neurobiological standpoint. - CARL RECOMMENDS: superhumanradio.net/carl-recommends - - View and download all shows at https://superhumanradio.net - Visit us on Instagram: @superhumanradio - Support SHR - https://superhumanradio.net/make-a-donation

Diseases like heart disease, diabetes, cancer, arthritis, bowel diseases are all said to occur from years of chronic inflammation. What if I told you you're already in that machine for 7 to 8 hours a day, and it's your bed at night while you sleep. It is contributed to and exacerbated by a poor diet that results in accumulation of adipose tissue, high blood sugar, and other metabolic issues. Because humans have undergone food scarcity throughout history, our species has adapted a fat reserve genotype. SHR # 3001:: An Emerging Approach to Influencing Brain Insulin and Cognitive Function - Dr. Steven K. Malin, PhD, FACSM - Exercise has systemic health benefits in people, in part, through improving whole body insulin sensitivity. The brain is an insulin-sensitive organ that is often underdiscussed relative to skeletal muscle, liver, and adipose tissue. Although brain insulin action may have only subtle impacts on peripheral regulation of systemic glucose homeostasis, it is important for weight regulation as well as mental health. In fact, brain insulin signaling is also involved in processes that support healthy cognition. Furthermore, brain insulin resistance has been associated with age-related declines in memory and executive function as well as Alzheimer's disease pathology. Herein, we provide an overview of brain insulin sensitivity in relation to cognitive function from animal and human studies, with particular emphasis placed on the impact exercise may have on brain insulin sensitivity. Mechanisms discussed include mitochondrial function, brain growth factors, and neurogenesis, which collectively help combat obesity-related metabolic disease and Alzheimer's dementia. - CARL RECOMMENDS: superhumanradio.net/carl-recommends - - View and download all shows at https://superhumanradio.net - Visit us on Instagram: @superhumanradio - Support SHR - https://superhumanradio.net/make-a-donation

SHR # 2999:: So, You Think You Can Interpret Blood Tests? - Coach Dan Garner - About 15 years ago a phenomenon occurred. Blood analysis and saliva analysis laboratories popped up, and people could start ordering their own blood work. What was previously only available to physicians was now available to anybody. A new cottage industry occurred. People with modest knowledge, position themselves to start to advise people on what good blood work was and what bad blood work was. Average people started calling themselves practitioners or functional medicine advisers, and started ordering bloodwork on behalf of their clients and interpreting their blood work. Fast forward to today we have personal trainers people who proposed to be a nutritionist and the like ordering bloodwork and interpreting it for their clients. But do they really know what they're talking about? Do they really interpret your bloodwork? Or do they just go over standard epidemiological end points that really don't tell you anything about you personally? SHR # 2998:: Biological Age is Fluid. New Study - Dr.James P. White, Ph.D - Aging is classically conceptualized as an ever-increasing trajectory of damage accumulation and loss of function, leading to increases in morbidity and mortality. However, recent in vitro studies have raised the possibility of age reversal. Here, we report that biological age is fluid and exhibits rapid changes in both directions. At epigenetic, transcriptomic, and metabolomic levels, we find that the biological age of young mice is increased by heterochronic parabiosis and restored following surgical detachment. We also identify transient changes in biological age during major surgery, pregnancy, and severe COVID-19 in humans and/or mice. Together, these data show that biological age undergoes a rapid increase in response to diverse forms of stress, which is reversed following recovery from stress. Our study uncovers a new layer of aging dynamics that should be considered in future studies. The elevation of biological age by stress may be a quantifiable and actionable target for future interventions. - CARL RECOMMENDS: superhumanradio.net/carl-recommends - - View and download all shows at https://superhumanradio.net - Visit us on Instagram: @superhumanradio - Support SHR - https://superhumanradio.net/make-a-donation

SHR # 2995:: The Intersection Between Toxicology and Aging - Dr. John Wise, PhD - I discussed the problem with keeping people alive longer as the US Government sees it back in 2008. Today we are imminently faced with the challenges of an increasingly aging population and longer lifespans due to improved health care. Concomitantly, we are faced with ubiquitous environmental pollution linked with various health effects and age-related diseases which contribute to increased morbidity with age. Geriatric populations are rarely considered in the development of environmental regulations or in toxicology research. Today, life expectancy is often into one's 80s or beyond, which means multiple decades living as a geriatric individual. Hence, adverse health effects and late-onset diseases might be due to environmental exposures as a geriatric, and we currently have no way of knowing. Considering aging from a different perspective, the term “gerontogen” was coined in 1987 to describe chemicals that accelerate biological aging but has largely been left out of toxicology research. - CARL RECOMMENDS: superhumanradio.net/carl-recommends - - View and download all shows at https://superhumanradio.net - Visit us on Instagram: @superhumanradio - Support SHR - https://superhumanradio.net/make-a-donation
