The Matinee Heroes crew is back with a special presentation on Andor Season 2, and let's just say—this one doesn't play it safe. Host Craig Price joins Alan Cerny and Elizabeth Rapp to discuss how Andor ditches the fan service for real stakes, mature storytelling, and brutal political commentary. With all 12 episodes dropping early, Disney clearly believes in this season—and they should. Star Wars Grows Up Season 2 doesn't just flirt with heavy themes—it wades into fascism, rebellion, and moral ambiguity without a life jacket. If Season 1 surprised you, Season 2 swings even harder, turning the spotlight on characters who are messy, conflicted, and all too real. No Lightsabers, No Problem From Cassian Andor's emotional descent to Mon Mothma's political sacrifice, this is Star Wars with consequences. Yes, there are familiar faces, but this show earns them. It's not about nostalgia—it's about impact. Final Thoughts This might be the best storytelling Star Wars has ever produced. Period. Even if you're not a fan of the galaxy far, far away, Andor Season 2 is worth your time.
This is the second part of a two-part episode. In this episode, I continue my discussions with film critic Alan Cerny regarding movies that have a fraud and/or white collar theme. This episode does contain some profanity. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/gene-tausk/message
This is part 1 of a 2 part episode. Fraud and White Collar Crime are topics that are naturally made for the movies and TV. A con man always uses his knowledge of human emotions and weaknesses to do his job. In the hands of good actors, directors and screenwriters, fraud and white collar crime can make for an enjoyable movie experience. I am proud to host Alan Cerny, noted movie critic, as my guest on these two podcasts as we explore fraud and white collar crime at the movies. NOTE - this episode does contain some profanity. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/gene-tausk/message
The long-awaited big-screen version of the beloved Star Trek TV series was heralded as a huge cinematic event at the tail end of 1979 -- and it turned out to be a smash hit too. So why does the film seem to have a relatively lukewarm reputation among critics and general movie-watchers? To this day the film is remembered as a bit too long, and a bit too focused on the undeniable majesty of giant spaceships, but the hardcore Trek fans will frequently come to the film's defense; hardcore Trek fans like my guest, film critic Alan Cerny (@alanwcerny). This week our guest is Alan Cerny, who writes movie reviews and analysis for Vital Thrills. He started with Ain’t-it-cool-news and it’s through there that he and Tim connected. We cover a lot of topics with Alan including a little about the destruction of AICN, how he finds movies a more spiritual experience than religion, […]
This episode of the Gamer’s Tavern is devoted to examining the link between gaming and film. Film has influenced tabletop gaming over the years and, more recently, gaming has started to influence films as the kids playing the Red Box grew up to be writers, actors, and directors. This week’s show notes are going to be a little odd as there aren’t going to be very many links. We talked about a lot of films during the podcast and, while I’ve listed them all below, I’m not sure whether you watch films through Netflix, Amazon Prime, DVDs, or if you choose some othARRRRR method of getting your media. So I’ll list the film titles for you to search, but there are some interesting notes you may want to look at when it comes to some of these films. A little late too late for Halloween (or not) we sit down to talk OVERLORD with ComingSoon.Net and Matinee Heroes critic Alan Cerny. Does this not-Cloverfield film from the J.J. Abrams machine hold up to close scrutiny? Let's find out!
Craig Price was already a veteran of the podcast industry with his 7-year long Reality Check Podcast when he set out with his co-host Alan Cerny to create Matinee Heroes. Together, they explore the world of movies. An episode might include a discussion on a classic film, a review of a more recent one, or how they would recast certain movies. I am very excited to welcome Craig to my podcast. Over the course of the episode, we geek out about various movie facts. Craig also talks to me about how certain movies captured the upbringings of children from that era and how different childhood is today. We then discuss how to recast actors in classic movies and how that process works. Finally, we both discuss why we did or did not want co-hosts, and the experience of guesting on someone else’s podcast. 01:15 – How Harry met Craig 02:10 – The first podcast Craig listened to 05:00 – The movies that inspired Craig’s movie craze 08:40 – The origin story of Matinee Heroes 10:30 – The content of Matinee Heroes 15:00 – How movies can be a snapshot of childhood 20:00 – The importance of failure in childhood 24:00 – The Battle of the Network Stars 26:20 – The schedule of Matinee Heroes 27:45 – Craig’s favorite movie villain 30:00 – Craig’s experience as a panel host 32:00 – Craig’s previous podcast 35:00 – Recasting actors in classic movies 40:00 – Advice for people who want a co-host 44:00 – Guesting on other podcasts 46:45 – The Lost in Space reboot 48:00 – Personality vs. attitude 49:30 – Craig’s thoughts on Deadpool Full Show Notes: http://podcastjunkies.com/Craig-Price-interview★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

Wait what? Yeah, that’s right, it is EPISODE 16 OF THE CINEPUNX PODCAST!! This is our special Fantastic Fest (link) edition, and Liam basically did what Josh did at THIS IS HARDCORE FEST only was much less successful. That is not to say we did not have some great convos, and big thanks to the 9 people who participated, but it was just not the same scale. NOW, that being said, we did run into an interesting problem because of the number of people involved. You see, because so few people were able to participate, Liam made every conversation longer than had been originally planned. So you will here him claim in the intro that this episode is particularly short. It is not. It is like 2 hours long. The reason is this extended format. Sorry. Now quite a few people expressed frustration they did not get to participate in this episode. First off, anyone who showed up and was willing to get interviewed got interviewed so you got no one to blame but yourself sugar. However, we love interviews and we would love to talk TO YOU! Hit us up on facebook or email us cinepunx (at) gmail. Josh checks it. Right? Sure he does. Almost everyone we were able to talk to also writes about movies, so check out the links next to their name to see their writing. Big thanks again to all of them, listed below in order of appearance. SOUND NOTE: during the interview with the magical WOLFMAN the chord on Liam’s mic fell out before you hear us address it. It just sounds like suddenly you can’t hear Liam very well anymore. Look, it is a minute and it was not gonna work to edit it out. Thanks for your patience far, far in advance, and big thanks to Fantastic Fest for being amazing.
