The 2022 position breakdowns continue with an evaluation of the Carolina Panthers offensive line, tight ends, and special teams units heading into the 2022 season. It's no secret that the Panthers had one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL in 2021. Heading into the offseason, Panthers general manager Scott Fitterer made the position group a priority. Fitterer delivered by signing several veterans who excelled at their previous stops and using the team's first-round pick on a left tackle, Ickey Ekwonu. Will the Panthers offensive line go from a weakness to a strength? The Panthers have utilized its tight ends less than the entire NFL since Matt Rhule arrived in 2020. With the addition of offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo there is a growing sentiment that the unit will see an increased role in the passing game this fall. But is there anyone on the roster capable of being a threat in the passing game? Ian Thomas has been named a breakout candidate for several years and has yet to live up to the hype. Tommy Tremble has the ability but has never been in such a role. What can fans reasonably expect from the Panthers tight ends in 2022?Undoubtedly, special teams has played a key role in several Panthers losses the past few season, leading to the ouster of former coordinator Chase Blackburn. Replacing Blackburn is Chris Tabor, who annually produced top ten special teams units in Chicago. Can Tabor turn around this unit? After place kicking being a major concern heading into the year, Zane Gonzalez stabilized the position during a career year. Can Gonzalez buck the trend of his up-and-down nature?Plus, Johnny Hekker and Andre Roberts bring All-Pro pedigree.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. Return specialist DeAndre Carter is scheduled to visit the Los Angeles Chargers and could be the answer to their special teams woes. The NFL Draft just got a lot more interesting with the Saints and Eagles trade, but did New Orleans try to leap frog the Chargers to secure an offensive tackle? Andre Roberts was one of the best kick returners in the NFL last season but his work as a punt returner left a lot to be desired, but is DeAndre Carter an upgrade? The Saint and Eagles made the big trade but those picks surround the Chargers 1st round pick at 17 overall so your hosts David and Daniel get you their perspective on how it could affect the Chargers. Throughout the draft process the Chargers have been linked to many players, but none more than Georgia defensive lineman Jordan Davis, according to the latest mocks from draft experts. Locked On Chargers - Daily Podcast On The Los Angeles Chargers
After one season, Special Teams Coordinator Derius Swinton and his assistant were relieved of their duties taking the fall for the unit's poor play. Did he deserve it with the teams improving later in the year? Daniel and David start the show by discussing Brandon Staley's decision to move on from his coordinator, why that could've happened, and even provide an option that would make a lot sense to come in as a replacement. Then the show shifts to recognize and appreciate the 3 Chargers who received all pro nods: center Corey Linsley, left tackle Rashawn Slater, and kick returner Andre Roberts. Your hosts highlight why each player was deserving of the accolade, and why Derwin James got snubbed. The guys also ponder whether Justin Herbert or other Chargers could be selected as All-Pros in 2022. The Chargers playoff hopes relied on beating the Denver Broncos and they emphatically accomplished that mission winning 34-13. Getting the help they needed, Los Angeles has set up a winner take all game against the Raiders in Week 18. Today hosts David and Daniel give their initial reactions to the Chargers big win and recap giant plays made by Justin Herbert, Andre Roberts and company. Justin Herbert continued to etch his name into the record books reaching the franchise touchdown record, the defense got some big stops, and the special teams showed up with Robert's 101-yard kick return touchdown. 00:00-27:00:ML chats with longtime Buffalo TV personality Adam Benigni on Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott running it back, what the trio of Feliciano-Williams-Milano mean to the team, Andre Roberts leaving, Corey Bojorquez's days being numbered with the acquisition of Matt Haack, why the Seattle game was a defining game for the Bills in 2020, the Sabres in rebuild mode yet again and the woeful season overall, Ralph Krueger getting fired and more!
The Bills have done well to re-sign their own looming free agents, guard Jon Feliciano, tackle Daryl Williams and linebacker Matt Milano. But they've also lost receiver John Brown and Pro Bowl returner Andre Roberts and are running out of cap space. That and discussions on the Sabres' relentless mess and WNY March Madness on "Tim Graham And Friends" brought to you by CTBK.
On the latest episode of the Billieve Podcast, hosts John Boccacino and Jamie D’Amico continue their offseason State of the Bills series of podcasts by breaking down and reviewing the contributions the Bills got from their wide receivers during the 2020 season. Led by All Pro wideouts Stefon Diggs and Cole Beasley, Buffalo's aerial attack blossomed into one of the best in the NFL as quarterback Josh Allen enjoyed a breakout, MVP-caliber season as the Bills transformed into a pass-first offense in 2020. Diggs set franchise records for receptions (127) and receiving yards (1,535), becoming the first Bill to ever lead the league in those categories while adding eight touchdown catches. Beasley nearly posted his first 1,000 yard season, hauling in 82 receptions for 967 yards with four TDs, while rookie Gabriel Davis (35 receptions, 599 yards, seven TDs) emerged as a solid No. 3 receiving threat. John Brown battled through injuries and missed seven games, amassing 33 receptions for 458 yards with three TDs. We discuss why the Bills have one of the best wide receiver quartets in all of football, analyze how Diggs emerged as one of the top 2-3 wideouts in the game while helping Allen make a quantum leap in his progression, explore the reasons Beasley is one of the top slot receivers in the league, and speculate on whether general manager Brandon Beane will bring back talented speedster John Brown, restructure his deal, or cut him. Speaking of the No. 2 wideout, we dissect Davis' rookie season and explore whether he is ready to step into the No. 2 role opposite Diggs. We also discuss what the team should do with gadget weapon Isaiah McKenzie and return man Andre Roberts, and assess whether the Bills have any breakout candidates among the rest of the receivers, a group that includes Jake Kumerow, Isaiah Hodgins, Duke Williams, and Tanner Gentry. Yesterday was the NFL's version of New Year's Day. The league year began at 4:00 p.m. New York time. The official start of the league year has become largely meaningless. Perhaps there still is significance since players cannot officially sign contracts with new teams until it comes (Anthony Barr), but the days of coaches and general managers sitting in a car outside a free agent's house waiting for midnight are over. Players can now negotiate during the legal tampering period, and most of the big names come off the board during that time period. After the Le'Veon Bell excitement, Wednesday was a slow day for the Jets. They actually lost two of their three Pro Bowlers from a year ago, but the impact is far less than it sounds. The two players they lost were special teamers, Jason Myers and Andre Roberts. The team did retain backup linebacker and special teamer Neville Hewitt. On today's podcast we discuss these relatively minor developments. Learn more about your ad choices.
