This weeks episode is with visionary floral sculptor, Anthony Ward! Most known for his elaborate performances on stage combining his extensive history of dance with his love for floral arrangement, Anthony has shared his art with thousands across the globe. Having had opportunities to collaborate with the likes of Michael Franti, Bobby McFerrin, STS9, Tipper, and a slew of spiritual teachers such as the Dalai Lama, Eckhart Tolle, and Ram Dass; Anthony has secured his spot as one of the world's top contemporary floral artists. In this conversation, we discuss his life of working with flowers and the intersections between arrangement and dance. We then explore the lineages of floral arrangement, how we can begin our own practice, and the lessons he's learned from a lifetime of dedicating himself to this artform. If this inspires you to begin your own journey into the world of floral art, I'd highly encourage you to check out his book, 'Being With Flowers' (link down below) Show Topics - Anthony's Story of Connecting with the Flowers - The Intersection of Flower Arrangement and Dancing - Floral Art as Spiritual Practice - Impermanence and Flowers - Ikebana - How to Start Flower Arranging - Forming Relationships with Individual Flowers - Lessons from Flowers for Troubled Times - The Universal Quality of Flowers - Weeds and Gathering Materials - Flowers and Masculinity - The Enlivening Quality of Passion Links Anthony at Envision: https://youtu.be/3efXGXxEoKE?si=jCnQh93KbmmyXibn Anthony Meeting the Dalai Lama: https://youtu.be/GPQs1lyCS1o?si=w9NUPxPRAFj3sbKK Being With Flowers: Being With Flowers Amazon Link

Katia reflects on a trip to Milan and Ancona and Caroline looks ahead to the World Superyacht Awards in Venice. In keeping with the Italian theme, this week's data segment is a closer look at the shipyard's in the Marche region, with Ferretti Group, Cantiere delle Marche and Palumbo Group in the spotlight. Finally, the pair talk about refreshingly involved superyacht owners Bob Book, the man behind the 50-metre Heesen Book Ends, and Anthony Ward, the owner of the 27-metre Oyster Babiana. Hey and welcome back to episode 4 of the Coffee Trading Academy podcast. Today we have on a special guest who without exaggeration is probably the most famous Cocoa Trader who has ever lived. When I first joined the coffee business in 2010, all that anyone could talk about was Anthony Ward and his latest trade in the cocoa market. Anthony's trading career in cocoa spanned 40 years and also includes 30 years of successful coffee and sugar trading. The reason I call Anthony the most famous cocoa trader of all time is because of a series massive physical trades he conducted from the 1990s through the first decade of the 21st century where he essentially cornered the market, earning rich profits and significant media attention. Anthony is a fascinating individual for a lot of reasons, but what struck me was his commitment to the fundamentals. Anthony's best trades were made based on deep fundamental analysis, but more than that, an understanding of the connection between futures and physicals. In this episode he's going to tell us about his background, his philosophy, some of his biggest trades and where he sees the coffee and cocoa markets headed in the next few months. Ladies and gentlemen, without further adieu, Mr. Anthony Ward.
RNIB Connect Radio's Toby Davey is joined again by Vidar Hjarding MBE, Inclusion and Diversity Consultant for ITV News across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands for the next in his regular Connect Radio audio described theatre reviews. This week Vidar reviews the audio described performance of ‘Matthew Bourne's Nutcracker!' at the Birmingham Hippodrome Theatre with audio description by Caroline Burn. Matthew Bourne's re-imagining of Tchaikovsky's classic ballet returned to the stage for the first time in ten years following it's very first performance in Edinburgh back in 1992. With family-sized helpings of Bourne's trademark wit, pathos and magical fantasy, Nutcracker! follows Clara's bittersweet journey from a darkly comic Christmas Eve at Dr. Dross' Orphanage, through a shimmering, ice-skating winter wonderland to the scrumptious candy kingdom of Sweetieland, influenced by the lavish Hollywood musicals of the 1930s. Tchaikovsky's glorious score and Anthony Ward's newly-refreshed delectable sets and costumes combine with Bourne's dazzling choreography to create a fresh and charmingly irreverent interpretation of the classic. Vidar began by telling Toby it was a very magical experience for him but very different to the traditional productions of The Nutcracker that he has seen with AD before by Birmingham Royal Ballet. Vidar appreciates the time and trouble that Caroline Burn the Audio Describers put into bringing dance and ballet to life for him and other visually impaired people and providing description that works for both him as someone who has not studied dance or ballet at all and those visually impaired people who may have been or who are dancers. The enthusiasm and passion certainly came through from Caroline's description and Vidar said that dance and ballet would be a ‘no, no' without the audio description. Vidar ended his review by agreeing with Toby that Matthew Bourne's Nutcracker! Is a great dance production for all the family. Matthew Bourne's Nutcracker continues on tour until the end of April and for full details of the tour including dates of audio described performances do visit the New Adventures website - https://new-adventures.net/nutcracker#overview (Image shows RNIB logo. Chocolate fans out there may know all about the latest chocolate happenings, from Hershey's “Air Delight,” a bar of aerated milk chocolate, to Cadbury's new melt-resistant chocolate, which apparently remains solid even after three hours at 104 degrees. But unless you happen to be a chocoholic who follows the financial news, you may not have heard of “ChocFinger,” a British hedge fund manager named Anthony Ward. In 2010, Ward purchased 240,000 tons of chocolate–seven percent of the global production–and stashed it inside refrigerated warehouses throughout Europe. Ward has been accused by other investors of driving up the price of a commodity that had already seen two year's worth of price increases. Their worries might be valid. ChocFinger is in a position to influence the market for some time to come: he can continue to store or sell all that chocolate, enough to make over five billion candy bars, until 2030. This is just one of the “secrets” Kara Newman reveals in The Secret Financial Life of Food: From Commodities Markets to Supermarkets (Columbia University Press, 2013), in which she examines how commodities markets influence what we eat and how much we pay for food. Newman brings a range of talents to her story. She's a former vice president of strategic research at Thomson Reuters who's versed in the world of finance. She's also the Spirits Editor for Wine Enthusiast, writes the weekly “Spirited Traveler” column for Reuters, and has authored two books of cocktail recipes. She's the sort of writer who can make the history of trading pork bellies or the volatility of global coffee production into a rich and lively read. Join us as Newman takes us into American's culinary and financial history and gives us a glimpse into our global future.

Starring Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton, this ‘wickedly funny’ (Guardian) production of Stephen Sondheim’s ‘magnificent masterpiece’ (Evening Standard) is set to thrill West End audiences at the Adelphi Theatre from March. A five star, sell-out smash hit at Chichester Festival Theatre with standing ovations every night, audiences and critics agree – this ‘mesmerising and enticing’ (Financial Times) musical is unmissable. Laced with dark humour, dazzling wit and an infectious score, it tells of Sweeney Todd's return to London after years of false imprisonment, and his savage quest for justice and retribution. Aided and abetted by pie-shop owner, Mrs Lovett, he sets out to avenge the wrongs done to him and his family many years before… Directed by Jonathan Kent and designed by Anthony Ward, Sweeney Todd comes to London for a strictly limited season. Don’t miss MICHAEL BALL giving ‘the performance of his life’ (Daily Mail) with the ‘show stopping’ IMELDA STAUNTON(Mail on Sunday) in what promises to be the theatrical event of the year.
