Opening this fall at Mount Vernon Road and Dunwoody Club Drive, this massive indoor entertainment hub packs bowling, laser tag, mini golf, VR, arcade games and Georgia-legal adult gaming machines. It is all tied together with a full restaurant and bar serving fresh salads, salmon and craft cocktails while the kids have a blast.   The location is a win. It is one of the rare spots you can actually walk to in the suburbs. Big Play ATL is not just moving in. They are planting roots by upgrading the parking lot, teaming up with local groups and serving as a platinum sponsor for the Dunwoody Fourth of July Parade.   Birthday parties, date nights, alumni watch parties or catching a game with friends — you do not need kids to enjoy the fun. This is the kind of local hangout Dunwoody has been waiting for.   They are hoping to open sometime after Labor Day. Almost like fishing, hand-lines provide enormous fun for entire families. The fact that she had two beautiful teen daughters slightly older than me who looked great in shorts and bikini tops helped clinch the negotiations! We headed to my favorite crabbing spot. The sight left unseen is an opportunity for a missed creation of beauty and inspiration. Celebrating what is created around and through us is an unmeasurable talent without a ceiling. If you ever had the honor of reading her poetry in Hush: Breaking the Chains of Abuse (2024), Love & Longing an international anthology of poems (2023), and Cadence (2024) with her words, she comforts, loves, and inspires celebration in all that you are and have accomplished to create a new beginning. As inspiration comes through life experiences, poetry expresses those feelings with thoughtful displays of emotion. Each poetic expression ranges from nature and fun to empowerment and triumphant victory. Her words rejuvenate your spirit while opening your eyes to the openness of joy in daily life.Under the surface of each poem is a place of captivation; be mindful of “Irony of a Storm,” “Structure of Love,” “Resilience of a Bird,” “Hide and Seek,” “R.O.A.R.,” “Family Fun,” “Time Flies,” “Time Square,” “Sandstorm,” “Hope,” “I am in Love,” “Eclipsed Love,” “Quietness of a Prairie.”This is more than just a book but a reference point of education in all seasons. Once you read it front to back, it serves as a place of motivation, restoration, and celebration of your journey. From an educator of literacy, have fun, be inspired, and see the possibilities.Yasmin is purposefully intentional with her words to spark emotion to act toward a bright future. You do not want to miss the authentic rhythm of this unapologetic beacon as it shines with guidance, encouragement, cheer, and goodwill.https://www.prolificpulse.com/yasminbrown

What kind of parent willingly gives up a peaceful beach day… for four hours of standing in theme park lines? In this episode, Justin shares the story of his most "Father of the Year" moment — and Kylie reveals how she did something even braver. If you’ve ever had to choose between comfort and connection, this one’s for you. KEY POINTS: Why showing up — even when it’s uncomfortable — creates lasting memories for our kids. The unexpected benefits of shared boredom (like standing in line together!).How doing things you hate can still bring joy — to both you and your kids. The value of modelling courage, humour, and presence (even on the Kansas Twister). Why it’s often the hard, inconvenient moments that matter most in family life. QUOTE OF THE EPISODE: “Do the hard things. The joy it brings your kids — seeing you squeal, be scared, and do it anyway — you can’t put a price on that.” RESOURCES MENTIONED: HappyFamilies.com.au — for more parenting inspiration and tools. ACTION STEPS FOR PARENTS: Say Yes to the Hard Thing – Whether it’s a dreaded ride, a messy game, or a long conversation, lean in. Model Being Brave – Let your kids see you doing things outside your comfort zone. Find Joy in the Chaos – Embrace the mess, the lines, and the noise as chances to connect. Reflect and Celebrate – Share the story with your kids afterwards. Celebrate effort, not perfection. Plan Your Own "Hard Thing" – Ask yourself: What’s one thing I can do this week that puts my kids first, even if it’s uncomfortable? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Today we are discussing Porter Peach Festival in Porter, Oklahoma. The Porter Peach Festival celebrates the area's legacy crop of peaches with a myriad of activities and events perfect for a summer day with the family. You can shop for fresh, juicy peaches, peach products and other produce at Livesay Orchards, located three miles south of Porter, then get your fill on tasty peach desserts at The Peach Barn, approximately seven miles east of Porter. On Porter's downtown Main Street you can shop at many arts and crafts vendors, enjoy street games, live music and taste a wide variety of fair food. Come out on Thursday for a talent show, while Friday's events include a culinary contest. On Saturday, there will be a peachy parade, free peaches and ice cream, and a prize peach auction. Porter, Oklahoma, established in 1903 along the Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma Railroad, is a historic town between Muskogee and Tulsa, known for its rich agricultural heritage and vibrant community spirit. Named after Pleasant Porter, a Creek Nation chief born in nearby Clarksville, the town was incorporated in 1905 and thrived with farming, ranching, and coal mining. Its fertile lands between the Verdigris and Arkansas rivers attracted settlers, fostering a bustling early economy. Despite a devastating 1919 tornado that caused significant economic loss, Porter rebounded during World War II, with its WPA building (now Town Hall) serving as a subcamp for German and Italian POWs who worked on local farms. The town's agricultural legacy shines through its peach industry, sparked by Creek allottee Ben Marshall in the 1890s. His award-winning peaches at the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition cemented Porter's reputation, leading to the annual Porter Peach Festival, a highlight since 1967. This festival, still celebrated today, draws visitors with its celebration of local peaches, including a notable moment when Porter peaches were presented to First Lady Claudia "Lady Bird" Johnson at the White House. Porter offers a charming blend of history, culture, and agricultural pride, making it a unique stop for visitors seeking small-town Oklahoma charm. For more details, check local tourism resources or visit during the Peach Festival for a taste of Porter's legacy. I even play a clip from Bob Guiney live from Churchill Downs, where he shares his picks. Since it's Mental Health Awareness Month, I open up about receiving a heartfelt email from a colleague and reflect on my own journey, including the loss of my mom and dealing with “mom brain.”In the second half of the episode, I dive into a Q&A session, answering listener questions about my husband's new job, my engagement ring preferences, my favorite Bachelor destinations and outfits, and why I didn't join the show House of Villains. I also share a voice note from Tino Franco, where he talks about stepping away from social media. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
