Today Ashley is sharing takeaways from this week's episodes of how to implement meditation in your life.  Start with knowing there is not a right or wrong way to meditate.  There is not a time that is better than others. Try and attach your meditation to an item that you already do daily. Attaching your meditation to a habit you already are doing daily can be effective in forming the habit of meditation.  Start small! Start out with a minute, two minutes, or maybe three minutes, but start small. Then you can increase your time as you grow and get more comfortable.  Don't get down on yourself if you miss a day. Lose the all or nothing mentality. If you miss a day, come back the next day. Similar to missing a day at the gym. If you miss a day, start again tomorrow.  Products are not needed to meditate. However, if you feel better about having a cushion or a tangible item that makes you feel better about your meditation, then use it.  Whatever is meant to be for you. Change your mentality of “I have to do it, to the mentality, I get to do it.” The key is Meditation is personal. There is no right or wrong way to meditate.    This week's guest is Ashley Wray. My conversation with Ashley Wray: Ashley is the founder of Mala Collective, a company that supports meditation practices with classes, training and products all designed specifically for meditation. Ashley founded Mala Collective over a decade ago when, on a trip to Bali, fell in love with Mala beads, which help count breaths and keep one's focus during meditation. Now, Mala Collective creates and sells meditation beads, necklaces, cushions and more - all designed to enhance meditation practices. Her products are deeply rooted in Buddhist and Hindu traditions and are made using all natural materials. Ashley's own meditation journey and how she shares it with her customers is both impressive and inspiring. When do I start to see Return on Investment with this? When do I start to see a benefit from this? Meditation can feel like a waste of time. Sitting there and doing nothing can seem like a waste of our time. Think of it like going to the gym. You do not see results immediately. The same can be said for the gym sessions. You may have reservations about going to the gym. While you are struggling through the gym session, you may start to feel the enjoyment and benefit. The same can be said of meditation. You may not see the benefits right away, but you may become more aware of the benefits, as you continue the practice. The benefits from the gym are compounded over time from going to the gym. The same goes for meditation.  Chasing what you think it is supposed to feel like leads to failure. Successful meditation is simply showing up for yourself. Not all meditations will seem like a breakthrough. Some may be a struggle, just like a gym session. Be realistic with the way you measure meditation.  Immediate tangible results are not the way to define a successful session. Remember there is not a right or wrong, and there is not a quantitative answer to what is successful meditation. You can just sit and breathe, anywhere.  The more you meditate, the more trust you will have in yourself. Confidence and Trust come from momentum.    This week's guest is Ashley Wray. Good Risings

Meditation practices can be so impactful with how you relate with others and yourself.  Yesterday we discussed our thoughts wandering. The purpose of Meditation is not the idea of not having any thoughts. Your mind will stray, but how you regain your focus on the hub is crucial. Do you come back with love, compassion and understanding or do you come back with judgment? The framing of meditation is what helps people to meditate. Frame it as taking time for yourself. Don't feel that your time has to be meditating, but focusing on your thoughts. Think about creating time in between the thoughts. The more you practice surrendering to your thoughts, the more beneficial the time will be. Many times Zoning Out is the place where the ‘Aha' moments and thoughts come to you.  Lack of trusting yourself comes in many forms such as; you think I could have gone that way while driving, or wording of an email could have been different, or a conversation could have gone differently with a friend. Take your meditative time to learn that those moments of silence are where you learn to trust yourself.    Remember, your time is personal and there is not a right or wrong way to meditate.    This week's guest is Ashley Wray. Today's question for Ashley: How do you teach Meditation? When I started my business I knew nothing about meditation. I feel it needs to be approached with the idea that not all meditation is the same. There is not a right or wrong way to meditate.  I like to start out by having someone visualize a bicycle wheel. The hub in the center will be your focal point. This could be your breath, your mantra and especially affirmation based mantras. Stay there for sixty seconds and inevitably your mind starts to wander. This is the area where the spokes are between the hub and the tire. The tire is where you realize, I meant to be meditating right now. You can then judge yourself or refocus and come back to the hub, your focal point.  The purpose of Meditation is not the idea of not having any thoughts. Your mind will stray, but how you regain your focus on the hub is crucial. Do you come back with love, compassion and understanding or do you come back with judgment? Regaining your focus with self love and self compassion when the thoughts come in is the key. This is a personal experience. The way you meditate is not going to be the same as others, and that is okay.  This week's guest is Ashley Wray. But now she has grown to not only accept when her thoughts wander, but to enjoy it as it gives her another chance to practice refocusing her mind.    Now Ashley is running her own business to help others reconnect with themselves. Through mala beads and meditation coaching, Ashley guides others through their meditation journeys to help them heal, overcome their fears, and learn to love and cherish themselves.    Joins us this week as Ashley answers all of our questions around meditation and teaches us how to return to our true selves.    If you enjoyed this episode of the Pretty Little Tribe Podcast, make sure you rate us five stars wherever you're listening, and we'll see you next week!    Find Ashley: IG: @malacollective IG: @ashley__wray Website: ashleywray.co Follow us on Instagram! @prettylittletribe Music:  Miss Summer by Roa Music | https://soundcloud.com/roa_music1031 Music promoted by https://www.free-stock-music.com Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported License https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/deed.en_US

With transparency, honesty, and vulnerability, Ashley lets us know how we can build a successful business but still have doubts, limiting beliefs, and give away our power. This week we're digging deep into heart-led transformational entrepreneurship with Ashley Wray, the founder of Mala Collective. Ashley's story is amazing. After five years of working as a journalist covering murder trials (you read that right!), Ashley walked away from her career with no plan, an open heart, and a ticket to Bali in her hand. A chance encounter on that trip placed an opportunity in her path, and she chose to take it. Thus, the seed for Mala Collective was born. Yet, while the beginning of Mala Collective may have felt fortuitous, the reality of building and growing business was anything but. Get a peek behind the curtain as Ashley gets real about what it took to build her business, connect to the deep struggle that she faced with imposter syndrome, and learn how she changed her own self talk in order to build herself up instead of breaking herself down. Then, we tap into the self care that is at the heart of Mala Collective's mission. Here are Ashley's top tips to creating a consistent and positive meditation practice in your life: “It's not ‘a perfect', It's ‘a practice'”: Ashley encourages you to embrace the fact that there is no ‘right way' to meditate. Maybe you only have five minutes? Maybe your brain won't shut up? That's okay! Meet yourself where you're at and give yourself the space to be with your breath. The human brain wanders constantly, so having a focal point is extremely helpful. Ashley uses her mala beads for this purpose, moving from bead to bead on each inhale and exhale. Be proactive in your self care practice! By ensuring that you're feeding your needs when things are good in your life, you will more easily be able to handle the rough spots. Ashley has been gracious enough to offer our listeners 20% off their total order at Mala Collective. Simply visit www.malacollective.com and use the promo code: FEMME20.
