In this week's episode, we are joined by Ashlee Proffitt. Ashlee is a mother of 4 children here on earth and 1 in heaven. She is the founder of The Morning and host of The Joyful Mourning Podcast. Ashlee first experienced baby loss in the spring of 2006 when, on her first wedding anniversary, she miscarried her first pregnancy. She knows the deep pain of the words no mother ever wants to hear: "there is no heartbeat." Two years later, in November of 2008, Ashlee would again enter the space of loss and grief when her perfectly healthy 6-week old son died in his sleep of unknown causes. As time passed and healing came, as she learned to navigate life after loss, Ashlee longed to help other women who had experienced the loss of a baby. For nearly 10 years Ashlee has been doing that very thing -- coming alongside grieving women, offering tangible resources for this grief journey and reminders that she is loved, she is not alone in her grief and her baby is not forgotten. Complications delivering the placenta resulted in a DNC which left Jessica's uterus scarred. Just a few weeks later she began hemorrhaging. Today's Pretty Little Tribe Episode is JAM PACKED with so many topics, that no one is talking about. We are joined by Lauren Lobley, a mother of 2 on a mission to support other mamas in this enduring journey through motherhood! As a certified health coach, published cookbook author and yoga studio co-owner of 5 Point Yoga in Malibu, CA, Lauren's world was rocked off its axis when she became a mom in 2016 to her daughter, Madison Grace. She knew it would be challenging, but she wasn't prepared to be met with feelings that didn't seem welcome: resentment, anger, fear, a deep sense of loss and grief over her identity pre-child, and a sense of confusion as she tried to navigate who she was now. She identified an inexcusable lack of support by her care providers as a new mother and after the birth of her second child, Liam Edward, in 2019, she decided she wanted to be a part of a movement to change that. The Mom Feed Podcast was born just 6 months after her son was, and with it came raw, honest conversations with experts in all fields pertaining to motherhood and parenting. In today's Pretty Little Tribe Podcast episode, we are joined by Dr. Shannon Clark, OB/GYN, Maternal-Fetal Medicine Doctor, educator, researcher, TikToker and mother of twins. After becoming an OB/GYN, Shannon spent an extra three years studying to sub-specialize in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Despite her excellent bedside manners, Shannon was never fully able to understand her patients until she experienced having a high-risk pregnancy herself. Shannon and her husband met when they were 38 and began trying for kids after 40. After a miscarriage and five rounds of IVF, Shannon was discouraged from her losses. She was finally able to become pregnant with twins using donor eggs and IVF, but her pregnancy soon became complicated. She delivered at 31 weeks and had both twins spend time in the NICU for 5-6 weeks. Shannon's experiences gave her a unique insight into the struggles that her patients go through. Not only does she continue to educate people on everything from high-risk pregnancies to breast feeding on her Tik Tok account, but she is able to do so from a place of personal experience and compassion. In today's Pretty Little Tribe Podcast episode, we are joined by Eloise Edington, founder and editor of the Fertility Help Hub, an online resource, podcast, and community app. When Eloise and her husband were unable to conceive, they discovered that her husband had Klinefelter syndrome and has low testosterone and no sperm count as a result. After deciding on a donor and a few rounds of IVF, Eloise and her husband are now parents of three. When going through this journey, Eloise found it difficult to find people that she could relate to. Eloise found that knowing at least one other person who had donor children was a comfort to her. She wanted other women to be able to make these connections and also find accurate resources and information. So she created the Fertility Help Hub which consists of a podcast, a website with resources and tips, and a community app so people can connect with others sharing similar struggles.
