Sales and marketing alignment may sound straightforward, but it's often reduced to process charts and dashboards, rather than focusing on the people doing the work. In this episode, Lia Davidson, CMO at EAB, joins Adam and Saima for a refreshingly honest conversation about what real alignment looks like inside complex organizations. She shares how building trust with sales didn't come from structure or incentives, but from solving problems together and staying radically candid. Lia also unpacks the moment she realized marketing needed to stop celebrating metrics that didn't match sales outcomes—and how shifting to shared KPIs changed everything. Plus, why personality tests, casual hangs, and a simple phone call can outperform strategy offsites. In this episode, you'll learn:Why marketers should rethink their funnel language to reflect real sales impactHow to lead with empathy when functional teams aren't getting along What happens when marketing and sales review pipeline togetherHow to create team alignment without reporting lines or reorgsJump into the conversation: (00:00) Introducing Lia Davidson and sales-marketing alignment (02:47) The human side of misalignment and why process alone doesn't fix it (04:38) How Lia's early sales experience shaped her approach as a CMO (06:44) A people problem disguised as a pipeline problem (08:15) The offsite that solved misalignment without touching strategy (10:19) Why marketing can't claim green if sales is red (12:52) How Lia celebrates marketing wins while staying tied to revenue (14:32) Building one team without a shared reporting structure (18:59) Why “one funnel mentality” is more than just a slogan

Maybe it's just a fleeting thought, but maybe this thought really stings. As much as we like to think of certain friendships being “done,” it's never really the case.Today's episode is about the friendship that got away. What causes us to become less close? Why do some friendships stay with us? How do you know if you should keep trying? When should you let it go?There are so many lessons you learn from a friendship, so even if it ended, it's not a failure. It helped you grow into the person you are, and it is going to be worthwhile in the community you are creating and investing in.In this episode you'll hear about:The friendship fade, and why this happens (see my Roots framework): life changes, and responsibilities lead to a driftWhen paths diverge, it requires work to build new friendship roots; for example, when my friends started having kids, we needed to find new ways to spend time togetherHow hard it can be to separate the past from the present and the nostalgia associated with past friendhipsWhat you should ask yourself if you're looking to reconnect with an old friend, and the importance of letting yourself grieve if you decide to let it goResources & LinksSee my Roots framework, and listen to last week's Episode 114, about the friendship guilt spiral, Episode 115, about pet peeves, and Episode 25 about friendship break-ups.Like what you hear? Many web designers don't want to scale. I get it - because I had that mindset too. I never wanted to be an agency with overhead, payroll, extra stress from managing people, etc.But the good news is, especially nowadays, you can scale a web design business your way. In a low-stress, low-pressure way that works for you no matter where your business is in revenue and profitability.Sandy Burns, a founding member of my community Web Designer Pro is a perfect example of this. She was on the podcast recently sharing her story of passing 10 years in business and how she (reluctantly) HAD to scale because she had become so overwhelmed with projects. We got to hear from her perspective what it was like to scale and how the timing couldn't have been more crucial because shortly after she began to scale and reduce her workload, she was diagnosed with cancer and immediately began a journey of chemo and cancer treatment. That's one angle of Sandy's story but another one is the other side of her scaling journey. Who did she hire? What was it like for them as she began to send more work their way and when Sandy was diagnosed, what was it like taking over projects and speaking directly to her clients?Well for that, I'm excited to introduce you to Alexis. Another founding member of Pro who was on the podcast a ‘little' while ago when we chatted about her first client experience

The word 'hope' to so many of us can feel ambiguous and distant and yet in this conversation, my guest Gail Muller, a Cornish adventurer, author, speaker, and coach, breaks down the power of hope through a late in life ADHD diagnosis. This is a riveting conversation where we learn that we can always choose hope from the depths of life's challenges. Gail has spent twenty years in education: teaching, leading, and consulting globally, helping raise aspirations and encouraging life-long learning for all. She passionately advocates for the belief that our broken bits can also be superpowers. Recently diagnosed with ADHD, she also struggled for fifteen years with debilitating chronic pain. In 2019, after considerable physical rehabilitation, she walked the Appalachian Trail in the USA, later writing a bestselling book about the experience called Unlost. Gail advocates for living a life that's courageous and true to oneself. She runs popular online courses and residential retreats in Cornwall and gives talks and workshops worldwide, encouraging people to dig into their creativity, build resilience, and grow in confidence. On this episode of the ADHD Women's Wellbeing Podcast, Kate and Gail talk about:Gail's chronic pain journeyHope and acceptance can exist togetherHow to use hope in life and how Gail teaches it to her studentsADHD and the connection between chronic pain, hypermobility, inflammationUnexplained answers, pain and neurodivergence Hope as an energyBecoming empowered with more answers to thrive with ADHDHow to stop fighting against ourselves Hopeful attitude switchGail's ADHD diagnosis validation and understanding Gail's post-diagnosis crash Generational healing and processing after a diagnosis Kate's new four-part workshop series, Regulating Your ADHD Nervous System, is available here.Have a look at some of Kate's workshops and free resources here.Kate Moryoussef is a women's ADHD Lifestyle & Wellbeing coach and EFT practitioner helping overwhelmed and unfulfilled newly-diagnosed ADHD women find more calm, balance, hope, health, compassion, creativity and clarity. We toss around the idea of having to have the breakdown to have the breakthrough, but what does that actually look like? It's the main reason I wanted to sit down with my former client, Whitley, and discuss what the last few years of her relationship have looked like. There's been time together, there's been time apart, there's been working through a lot of stuff. Before digging in, please know, this is *not* to be treated as a: Here's how I get my boyfriend back how to. In this episode we discuss:The nature of their relationship and how breakups and time apart have served themThe internal work that made it possible for them to come back togetherWhat that internal work consisted of, specifically, for Whitley What it looked like to fully surrender the relationship — i.e. release the idea that there was certainty in getting back togetherHow the work Whitley did reflects the necessary work anyone would need to do in order to enter into their next partnership in a different way (OR strengthen their current one)How Whitley's life has changed drastically outside of the breakup (who she is, profession, how she sees herself, where her life is headed) and how that was/is deeply related to the overall health of the relationshipTake My Online CourseWork with me PrivatelyConnect on InstagramWebsitePodcast Production by James Jorge

Groups are a microcosm of life and the greater systems in which we live and work. We learn so much about ourselves and others in groups. They refine our leadership and communication skills. They highlight our growth edges and our capacity for conflict. And they can bring out the best - and the worst - in us, sometimes at lightning speed. So many of us can recall frustrating and, too often, harmful experiences working in teams. Whether it's a team member that drags everyone down without support or burdened systems, rules, and bureaucracies that stifle creativity and energy, the words “group project” bring up a lot of feelings. What comes up when you think about your group or team experiences? And when preparing to join or lead a group or a team, what fears or concerns go through your mind?Today, I'm excited to welcome back Charlie Gilkey to discuss his new book, Team Habits. He addresses many of the pain points and fears many of us hold when it comes to working in teams with actionable ways to make meaningful change in our team habits.Charlie Gilkey helps people start finishing the stuff that matters. He's the founder of Productive Flourishing, author of the book Start Finishing and The Small Business Lifecycle, and host of the Productive Flourishing podcast. Before starting Productive Flourishing, Charlie worked as a Joint Force Military Logistics Coordinator while simultaneously pursuing a PhD in Philosophy. He lives with his wife, Angela, in Portland, Oregon.Listen to the full episode to hear:How attachment to titles and structures makes us feel like we don't have agency in our teams at workHow work is inherently relational and why it matters how we show up for each otherWhy efforts to democratize corporate structures have to consider the emotional and social components of decision-makingHow solid team habits protect against one person dragging down the groupThe difference between the values on the floor and the values on the wall, and why we need to bring them togetherHow small, mundane changes make significant impact to your team culture over timeWhy we need to be able to show up as our full selves in our teamsLearn more about Charlie Gilkey:Better Team HabitsProductive FlourishingTwitter: @CharlieGilkeyInstagram: @productiveflourishingFacebook: @ProductiveFlourishingConnect with Charlie on LinkedInLearn more about Rebecca:rebeccaching.comWork With RebeccaSign up for the weekly Unburdened Leader EmailResources:Subtract: The Untapped Science of Less, Leidy KlotzManagement by objectives
