Daley is also the president of the Kill the Flashover organization, a 501(c)(3) charitable company that strives to teach to others about how we can indeed, learn the tactics to look for and prevent a flashover from overtaking your team(s). He is a staff instructor in two county fire academies and is an Adjunct Professor at two County colleges, developing and delivering FESHE approved curriculum in Fire Behavior and Building Construction.In this episode, we discuss the reasons behind the formation of “Kill the Flashover,” some of their ideas and goals, as well as tips to help us avoid the danger of a flashover occurring. ¿Backdraft? ¿Será la mochila que llevan los bomberos? ¿Rollover? ¿Será que los bomberos se toman un descanso para comer canel rolls? ¿Flashover? ¿Tiene algo que ver con la fama? Hoy vamos a aclarar todos estos términos. Muy buenas, soy Iván Pazo y soy profesor en Bombero Ninja, la mejor academia para oposiciones de bomberos en España. En este vídeo, te voy a explicar qué son realmente estos términos y cómo entenderlos de manera clara y efectiva. Así que, ¡vamos al lío! ¿Qué son Backdraft, Rollover y Flashover? Backdraft El backdraft no es la mochila que llevan los bomberos, sino un fenómeno peligroso que ocurre en incendios confinados, como en una habitación cerrada. Si un incendio consume el oxígeno de un espacio cerrado y produce muchos gases calientes, pero no tiene suficiente aire para mantenerse, puede parecer que el incendio está apagado. Sin embargo, cuando se abre una puerta y entra aire fresco, esos gases calientes se mezclan con el oxígeno y pueden encenderse súbitamente, produciendo una explosión de llamas. Es crucial que los bomberos sepan identificar y evitar esta situación para no ser sorprendidos por una bola de fuego. Rollover El rollover ocurre en incendios confinados cuando los gases calientes se acumulan en el techo. Estos gases, que son altamente inflamables, pueden encenderse sin una fuente de ignición directa, produciendo llamas que se mueven en forma de ondas o rizos por el techo. Este fenómeno es muy peligroso porque convierte al techo en un radiador ardiente que calienta todo lo que hay debajo, pudiendo llevar a una ignición súbita de todo el espacio, conocida como flashover. Flashover El flashover es uno de los fenómenos más temidos en incendios confinados. Se produce cuando todas las superficies de una habitación alcanzan una temperatura crítica y empiezan a liberar gases inflamables. Estos gases se encienden de golpe, provocando que toda la habitación prenda fuego de manera súbita. Este fenómeno puede alcanzar temperaturas extremadamente altas en cuestión de segundos, haciendo que cualquier material combustible en la habitación se incendie. Los bomberos deben aprender a leer las señales de un inminente flashover y tomar medidas para evitarlo. Claves para recordar estos términos Para ayudarte a memorizar estos conceptos, puedes utilizar reglas mnemotécnicas. Aquí tienes algunas ideas: Backdraft: Imagina a un bombero confiado que abre una puerta, pensando que solo hay humo, y de repente, una bola de fuego sale por la puerta. Visualiza la mochila del bombero volando, similar a la de Dora la Exploradora, para recordar el peligro de los gases acumulados. Rollover: Piensa en una habitación donde el humo se acumula en el techo y empieza a formar ondas de llamas, como los rizos en una hoguera. Recuerda la canción "Rolling in the Deep" de Adele para asociar el concepto de movimiento ondulante con el fenómeno. Flashover: Relaciona este término con la idea de muchos flashes de luz, como los que verías en una sesión de fotos. Mike Daley, who has nearly 40 years' experience as a firefighter, officer and instructor. He has presented at national, regional and local conferences. He is also the current president of Kill the Flashover, the organization that runs educational programs and demonstrations, teaching safe and effective firefighting practices. On this episode, Capt. Daley tells us about the details of the new NFPA 1700 standard, which will encompass both the previous 1710 and 1720 standards. However, he explains that this new standard includes an implementation section that will assist career and volunteer departments to put the new standard into effect. This is a "game changer," as this will guide departments to put the info from 1700 to good use. Vi consiglio di leggere Flashover: incendio a Venezia di Giorgio Falco pubblicato da Einaudi nel 2020. Giorgio Falco nasce nel 1967 e dal 2004 pubblica libri premiati da numerosi e prestigiosi concorsi italiani.Flashover muove da un fatto di cronaca: il 29 gennaio del 1996 il Teatro La fenice di Venezia brucia. Ad appiccare il fuoco è stato Enrico Carella, con la complicità del cugino e dipendente Massimiliano Marchetti. Carella era in ritardo sulla consegna di alcuni lavori elettrici per la restaurazione del Teatro, per evitare di pagare la penale che le sue finanze non gli permettevano di saldare, decide di provocare un piccolo incidente sul cantiere: appicca un fuoco che si espande portando alla distruzione dell'intero edificio.All'inizio il libro è un romanzo. Viene narrato un pomeriggio di marzo del 1995 in cui un giovane uomo lascia la laguna Veneziana per dirigersi presso un'autoconcessionale: acquista a rate una BMW. Quest'uomo conduce una vita al di sopra delle sue possibilità, una vita che coincide con l'immagine che ha di se stesso, ma non con le finanze di cui dispone. Quest'uomo è Enrico Carella, colui che un anno dopo darà fuoco alla Fenice.A pag.9 la narrazione si conclude, e l'opera di Giorgio Falco si dispiega in quello che non è «né romanzo, né racconto, né saggio, né novella, né poesia: Flashover». «Da qui in avanti rinunci al romanzo» scrive l'autore (rivolto a sé stesso e al contempo a chi legge, a chi ascolta) «ti concentri sui fatti. Soltanto a pag. 185, poco prima della fine ci sarà un ritorno al romanzo: ma cosa succede fra questi due squarci di storia? Nel vero senso della parola Giorgio Falco apre il libro: ricostruisce e decostruisce una storia vera, viviseziona un'ossessione, si interroga sul denaro, sul suo potere seduttivo e distruttivo, smaschera un personaggio e ne ricava la maschera di tutti.All'interno del libro è centrale la riflessione sui 3 minuti. 3 minuti è il tempo richiesto agli impiegati di Starbucks per servire caffé e dolcetti, è il tempo in cui un medicinale di Angelini promette di far passare il mal di testa da ciclo. 3 minuti è la durata di questa recensione. Dato alle fiamme, 3 minuti è il tempo che impiega un salottino del secondo Novecento a raggiungere il flashover irreversibile. È quello spazio infinitesimale che porta Enrico Carella a dare fuoco alla Fenice, che lo porta a scontare la sua giusta pena, che gli permette dopo il carcere di iniziare una nuova vita e diventare un professionista del verde… Il libro è ibrido ed eccede qualsiasi definizione perché coincide solo con sé stesso perché è esso stesso quello spazio infinitesimale. He has racked up close to a 100 commercially released singles and over 80 official remixes under his Pierre Pienaar, P.H.A.T.T., Pierre Pressure, Melodia, ReBirth, JXS Project and Deep Sequence aliases, spanning over more than a decade and having his music licensed to respected record labels like Ministry of Sound, Sony / BMG, Universal, Warner Bros, EMI, Armada, Vandit, Flashover, Nukleuz, Tidy, Monster Tunes, Cloud 9, Be Yourself Music and Black Hole Recordings. He has been commissioned to do official remixes for the likes of Technotronic, Bob Marley, Roger Shah, Fabio XB, Lost Witness, BK, Ratty, CRW, Mario Piu, Ralph Novell, and Mauro Picotto among others.   Pierre was the Head of Nukleuz Green which released prolific productions from the likes of Mauro Picotto, Alphazone, Mario Piu, Gigi D'Agostino, Tillmann Uhrmacher and many others which was the number-one selling vinyl record label in the UK for three years running and became Music Week's number-one UK Dance label. In 2017 he co-produced “Stronger Together” with Grammy-winner Paul van Dyk (for Best Soundtrack in A Motion Picture “The Dark Knight”), which quickly rose to the number-one spot on the Beatport Trance top 100 and is considered one of the biggest modern trance classics. Ursprünglich diente das Gebäude als Zuckerfabrik, nun wurden am Gelände Fleischprodukte verarbeitet und Autos verkauft – definitiv ein Terrain, das Überraschungen für die Einsatzkräfte bereithält. Starke Rauch- und Hitzeentwicklung sowie eine Rauchgasdurchzündung forderten die Feuerwehrmänner und -frauen massiv. 19 Feuerwehren – darunter freiwillige, Betriebs- und Berufsfeuerwehren – mit 51 Fahrzeugen und einem Großraumlüfter waren nötig, um die Lage wieder unter Kontrolle zu bringen. Bezirksfeuerwehrkommandant Helmut Fördermayr und Feuerwehrkommandant Alfred Stummer berichten in dieser Folge über einen besonders lehrreichen Einsatz.

In 1917, two young cousins carried a camera into an English dell and returned with a photo of fairies. When Arthur Conan Doyle took up the story it became a worldwide sensation. In this week's episode of the Futility Closet podcast we'll tell the story of the Cottingley Fairies, a curiosity that would remain unexplained for most of the 20th century. Giorgio Falco ha scritto un libro che come un incendio illumina e divora il suo oggetto: ricostruzione di una storia vera e sua decostruzione; romanzo di un'ossessione; indagine sul desiderio e sul potere del denaro di trasformare le cose e i corpi; ritratto in maschera degli ultimi quarant'anni di storia italiana, autobiografia di tutti.Enrico Carella, tra le 20.40 e le 20.45 del 29 gennaio 1996, con la complicità del cugino e dipendente Massimiliano Marchetti, appicca il fuoco alla Fenice di Venezia. Carella era il titolare di una piccola ditta che aveva ottenuto il subappalto per alcuni lavori elettrici nel restauro della Fenice (il capocantiere dell'azienda appaltatrice era suo padre). Carella (d'ora in poi il cugino padrone, «in minuscolo, (…) in maiuscolo sarebbe un personaggio unico, con la pretesa di concentrare su di sé le caratteristiche di tutti gli altri cugini padroni esistenti») era in ritardo sulla consegna dei lavori: avrebbe dovuto pagare una penale che non sarebbe mai stato in grado di saldare. Il cugino padrone conduceva una vita al di sopra delle sue possibilità, una vita che coincideva con l'immagine che aveva di se stesso ma non con le finanze di cui disponeva. Decide di appiccare un incendio: un incidente nel cantiere avrebbe rimandato la chiusura dei lavori. È l'innesco che provocherà la completa distruzione della Fenice. «C'è qualcosa di malinconico in ogni flashover su cui incombe la distruzione: la distruzione portata da se stesso, la distruzione di se stesso». Il flashover identifica il momento di transizione tra un incendio in crescita e un incendio nella sua fase matura: la temperatura è altissima e uniforme, il fuoco ha raggiunto la totalità delle superfici disponibili, tutto brucia all'unisono. Il suo primo libro, Pausa caffè, edito nel 2004 da Sironi, è stato finalista al Premio Chiara nel 2005. Per Einaudi pubblica nel 2009 L'ubicazione del bene, con il quale vince il Premio Pisa. Nel 2014 La gemella H vince, tra gli altri, il Premio Mondello Opera Italiana, il SuperMondello e il Premio Volponi. Nel 2014 esce per L'orma editore Condominio Oltremare (con Sabrina Ragucci) e l'anno seguente Sottofondo italiano (Laterza). Del 2017 è Ipotesi di una sconfitta (Einaudi), con cui vince il Premio Pozzale Luigi Russo 2018, il Premio Napoli 2018, il Premio Biella Letteratura e Industria 2019.
