The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (01/02/2024): 3:05pm- Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows determined that the U.S. Constitution bars Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump from appearing on the state's primary ballot—citing his involvement in riots outside the U.S. Capitol on January 6th, 2021. In her 34-page decision, Secretary Bellows accuses Trump of engaging in insurrection and, consequently, determines he is ineligible to hold office under the Fourteenth Amendment. Interestingly, despite calls from the Lieutenant Governor to “explore every legal option” to remove Trump from the ballot, California Secretary of State Shirley Weber said the former president would remain on the state's primary ballot. 3:20pm- While appearing on CNN, David Axelrod—former Senior Advisor to President Barack Obama—said “I do think it would rip the county apart if [Trump] were prevented from running because tens-of-millions of people want to vote for him.” 3:25pm- A new USA Today/Suffolk University poll indicates that Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump currently has greater support within the Hispanic American community than does President Joe Biden—39% to 34%. In 2020, Biden won that demographic by 33%—65% to 32%. Mays of The New York Times write: “Hundreds of migrants bound for New York City took a detour in New Jersey over the holiday weekend, in an apparent attempt to bypass a city order that seeks to limit the chaotic flow of arrivals…The surge in New Jersey arrivals appears to be an end-run around an emergency executive order last week by New York City's mayor, Eric Adams, requiring charter bus companies to provide 32 hours' advance notice of the arrival of migrants and restricting the times of day when they can be dropped off.” You can read more here: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/01/01/nyregion/ny-nj-migrants-buses.html 3:50pm- According to a Fox News report, migrants who have entered the United States illegally are currently lined up in New York City to receive taxpayer-funded housing. New York City, which previously declared itself a “sanctuary city,” guarantees free housing to migrants. 4:05pm- Claudine Gay has resigned as President of Harvard University—making her the shortest tenured president in the school's nearly 400-hundred-year history. Last month, Gay testified before the House Education and Workforce Committee. During one noteworthy exchange with Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), Gay refused to say calls for the genocide of Jews is speech that is violative of the school's code of conduct. Gay also faces dozens of credible plagiarism allegations. 4:15pm- In a recently surfaced video, former Director of the National Institutes of Health Dr. Francis Collins conceded that the federal government made mistakes with its public health response to the COVID-19 pandemic. He explains, “if you're a public health person…you attach zero value to whether this actually totally disrupts people's lives, ruins the economy.” In November of 2021, Dr. Collins, who is now serving as an advisor to President Joe Biden, infamously performed “Somewhere Past the Pandemic”—an original song to the tune of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” Rich, Matt, and Henry will find any excuse to play it. 4:35pm- On Monday, Rich appeared on Fox News to preview the 2024 presidential election. The clip went viral on social media, but Matt didn't include it on today's cut sheet! 4:50pm- Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows determined that the U.S. Constitution bars Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump from appearing on the state's primary ballot—citing his involvement in riots outside the U.S. Capitol on January 6th, 2021. Interestingly, despite calls from the Lieutenant Governor to “explore every legal option” to remove Trump from the ballot, California Secretary of State Shirley Weber said the former president would remain on the state's primary ballot. 5:05pm- Congressman Guy Reschenthaler— U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania's 14th Congressional District & House Republican Chief Deputy Whip—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss Claudine Gay's resignation as President of Harvard University making her the shortest tenured president in the school's nearly 400-hundred-year history. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), Gay refused to say calls for the genocide of Jews is speech that is violative of the school's code of conduct. Gay also faces dozens of credible plagiarism allegations. Will this resignation have an impact on the radical leftist teaching agenda at America's oldest university? 5:25pm- The New York Times reports: “Senator Robert Menendez of New Jersey—already accused of using his political influence to benefit Egypt—was newly charged on Tuesday with using his power to help the government of Qatar.” You can read the full report from Tracey Tully, Benjamin Weiser, and Nicholas Fandos here: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/01/02/nyregion/robert-menendez-qatar-influence.html 5:40pm- Anna Betts of The New York Times writes: “Al Sharpton, the civil rights leader, expressed disappointment in Claudine Gay's resignation in a statement to CNN, blaming a relentless campaign against her led by the financier Bill Ackman. ‘This is an attack on every Black woman in this country who has put a crack in the glass ceiling,' Sharpton said, adding that his organization, the National Action Network, would picket outside Ackman's New York office on Thursday.” You can read more here: https://www.nytimes.com/live/2024/01/02/us/claudine-gay-harvard/404581e4-b049-5652-9b24-3bc104a53fe5?smid=url-share 5:50pm- The Pop-Tarts Bowl vs the Duke's Mayo Bowl: which college football game was weirder? 6:05pm- Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows determined that the U.S. Constitution bars Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump from appearing on the state's primary ballot—citing his involvement in riots outside the U.S. Capitol on January 6th, 2021. (00:00-30:54) – Query & Company opens on a Wednesday with Jake Query, Jimmy Cook, and producer Eddie Garrison chatting about the Pacers ending their four-game road losing streak to the Houston Rockets. They question if Pacer fans knew how good Alperen Sengun is prior to last night's game.    (30:54-46:18) – Last night the Rockets wore their city edition uniforms with a city edition court. Jimmy comes back from break stating that he was a huge fan of the logo. That leads to Jake sharing a story about a NASA trip he went on. Finally, they reveal what their New Years Eve plans are. (46:18-50:13) – Hour one concludes with Jake and Jimmy talking about the Las Vegas Raiders after they defeated Jimmy's Chiefs on Christmas. (50:13-1:18:56) – Indiana Pacers beat reporter Dustin Dopirak from the Indianapolis Star joins the program to explain the benefits of the Pacers switching their starting lineup last night against the Houston Rockets. Dustin also accesses some of the recent turnover issues for Tyrese Haliburton since the In-Season Tournament, what kind of defender he thinks Jarace Walker is right now and believes that the Pacers will be buyers as the trade deadline nears almost no matter what their record is when the time comes. (1:18:56-1:36:20) – Jake and Jimmy shift their conversation to the Indianapolis Colts with a big game this weekend against the Las Vegas Raiders. They play some comments made by Shane Steichen and Gus Bradley yesterday pertaining towards the final two weeks and some of the recent struggles. Jake, Jimmy, and Eddie also list the pass catchers that they want back next year.     (1:36:20-1:39:01) – The one o'clock hour concludes with Jake talking about some one-hit wonders growing up as a kid. (1:38:38-2:10:46) – Bob Kravitz from BobKravitz.com joins Jake and Jimmy on Query & Company to share his thoughts on the Pacers shaking up the starting lineup last night in their win over the Houston Rockets, reveals which storyline that will have the majority of his attention to start 2024, accesses if the Colts will be able to retain the majority of their key free agents, and explains how this season could be hurting Anthony Richardson next season by winning so many games this year in connection to needing more weapons around Richardson. (2:10:46-2:26:13) – Jake comes back from break asking Jimmy and Eddie if they have watched any college football bowl games yet. It leads to Jake going on a rant about how terrible mayonnaise is with the Duke's Mayo Bowl happening tonight. (2:26:13-2:30:41) – Today's show ends with the JCook Plays of the Day and the continued conversation about mayonnaise. Greg Rakestraw pops in studio to weigh in on the conversation before filling in for JMV today.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this episode, Couz is joined by Andrew Johnson from  @TarHeelIllustrated  to preview the upcoming Duke's Mayo Bowl between the North Carolina Tar Heels of the ACC, and the West Virginia Mountaineers out of the Big 12. The guys will talk about key players who will miss the game for each team. They will also talk about players to watch and where each team may have an advantage. They will also cover the mood around each program going into the game and will even touch on conference realignment at the emd of the show. With North Carolina's star quarterback, Drake Maye, and receiver Tez Walker opting out of the bowl game to prepare for the NFL Draft, the Tar Heels will rely on freshmen quarterback Conner Harrell and 1,400 yard rusher, Omarion Hampton, to pick up the slack and lead the UNC team into battle. They will face a West Virginia defense led by consensus All-American cornerback, Beanie Bishop, who leads the nation in pass breakups. For the Mountaineers, their offense will be missing less pieces. Quarterback Garrett Greene will lead WVU, but as usual, Neal Brown's squad will rely heavily on the best rushing attack in the country. Even though their leading rusher, C.J. Donaldson will miss the game with an injury, freshmen phenom Jahiem White is more than capable of carrying the load. White rushed for over 700 yards on the year for the Mountaineers. Greene will also factor into the WVU running attack. The Tar Heel defense will be led by Kaimon Rucker, who has 56 tackles and 8.5 sacks on the season for Mack Brown's Tar Heels. Which one of these 8-4 teams will get their ninth win of the season? Listen to Couz and Andrew break the game down and then I'll let you decide. #wvufootball #uncfootball #collegefootballbowlgames #collegefootball

We love us some brown sugar-cinnamon Pop-Tarts. And we love us some Bowlapalooza. Together? You get nearly two hours of college football podcasting fun. The bowl game season begins Saturday at 11 a.m. (#OUOhYeah), continuing through the next few weeks. And as we do here at the Carla and Crappy Show, we gathered up a few friends – and an avocado – to pick some of the games we thought will be interesting.  It's our 10.5th year of doing Bowlapalooza (COVID year counts as the half), and our cast will sound familiar to folks who have been here before; in addition to A.J. joining us live, we have Gabby Biltz, Braden Gall, Aiden and Kelly Krieg and Jake Rose. Professional obligations kept Braden from joining us for the whole show – hence the Bradenpalooza show within the show – but we all got our say, and then some, with a list of seven bowl games. And more importantly, we discussed mascot eating (and mascot dumping) as we considered the finest Pop-Tart flavors of all time. Ready? Even if you're not, here are the games:   Saturday, December 16 11 a.m., ESPN, Myrtle Beach Bowl: Ohio vs. Georgia Southern Nearly all of OU's offensive production is in the transfer portal, but there may be a few points left – if the Bobcats' defense plays as it should.   3:30 p.m., ABC, Avocados From Mexico Cure Bowl: Miami (Ohio) vs. Appalachian State Crappy has strong feelings about Miami, OU's rival in the MAC; nearly everyone else is feeling happy about Appy.   Saturday, December 23 3:30, ABC, Lockheed Martin Armed Services Bowl: James Madison vs. Air Force Who in their right minds would pick against a former commander in chief in the Armed Services Bowl? Only a couple of us, as it turns out.   10:30 p.m., ESPN, Easy Post Hawaii Bowl: Coastal Carolina vs. San Jose State Avocados are firmly behind Coastal. Everyone else likes Sparty Junior.   Wednesday, December 27 5:50 p.m., ESPN, Duke's Mayo Bowl:  North Carolina vs. West Virginia The picks were mixed for this game, but everyone wants to see Mack Brown get a tub of Duke's Mayo dumped on his head.   Thursday, December 28 5:45 p.m., ESPN, PopTarts Bowl: NC State vs. Kansas State The PowerCats are looking good. Strawberry Pop-Tarts? Not so much.   9:15 p.m., ESPN Valero Alamo Bowl: Arizona vs. Oklahoma Arizona continues its run as the team no one wants to play. Except for the one of us who has a friend who was an athlete at Oklahoma.   Friday, December 29 2 p.m., CBS, Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl: Notre Dame vs. Oregon State The transfer portal will have a GRRRRREEEAAAAAT impact on this game (Get it? Yeah, sorry…), as both quarterbacks are moving on. Does ND run the ball into the ground, or will OSU complete its run in the PAC 12 with a final win? After a stomach bug waylaid Carla (she's feeling better now, thanks), a brief discussion about national championship contenders – we'll use those picks as tie-breakers, if necessary – and probably one too many beers for Crappy, we were pleased to wrap up what is perhaps the most chaotic Bowlapalooza ever. Can we top it? We'll give it a try with the 11.5th edition next year. In the meantime, enjoy bowl season, boys and girls, and we'll see you back here prior to the NY6 games.
