It's been an extraordinary week in the news. The bombing of Iran's nuclear sites left the world holding its breath – what comes next? Because SOMETHING will come next. Then a ceasefire was called, or was it, and that's the end of it – bombing for peace really does work apparently. Regardless, we've never had a US President like Trump, so who knows what's going to happen, but the world is certainly heating up, in more ways than one. However, before we get stuck into the news, we are going to talk soil health and food security, one of the most important issues of our time – but you wouldn't know it based on media coverage! We're already feeling the impacts with the cost of food, but what happens when food is not only more expensive, but the shelves are empty? How do we address it? What's happening now and what needs to happen? We are delighted to welcome Katie Critchlow, the co-founder and co-CEO of Re-Genus, which delivers a range of natural, regenerative fertilisers, growing media and natural crop nutrition, bringing life back to soils and boosting the health and resilience of crops. Cathy has more than 20 years' experience in impact leadership and green innovation, including eight in the c-suite of cutting-edge green start-ups, and diverse experience in corporate and NGO leadership roles. We are excited to hear what she has to say. Then it will be back to the news. In Europe, NATO has been in full swing, and the language of diplomacy has been incredibly sycophantic. The Great Leader of the US is being acknowledged for ending the nuclear threat from Iran and allies have (mostly) made a commitment to increase defence spending to 5% - but not until 2035, and guess who won't be alive then? No doubt about it, the language of diplomacy has entered a new era, but there's a deeper message in that. It's a surreal time, where the only thing that appears to have been obliterated is the truth, with the politicization of intelligence a huge threat to all of us. But that's not the only news – we'll talk about the diplomatic dance going on between India and Pakistan, Thailand could be on its way to another coup, and Oxfam's latest report states the wealth of the world's 3,000 billionaires surged by $6.5tn in real terms over the past decade. President Donald Trump declared Iran's nuclear program “obliterated” following joint U.S.-Israeli strikes, but a leaked Defense Intelligence Agency report paints a different picture. Key components — including centrifuges and enriched uranium — reportedly survived. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth downplayed the report, but analysts and satellite imagery suggest Iran anticipated the attack. Tyler Grey, star of Seal Team, a former Delta Force Operator, and the author of Forged in Chaos: A Warrior's Origin Story. Ex-Delta Force Operator Reacts: U.S. ‘Obliterated' Iran's Nuclear Sites
We had planned to debate whether the U.S. should or shouldn't get involved in the Israeli-Iranian conflict. Well, President Trump did, so the debate turned into whether it was the right move and how it might play out both internationally and domestically.
In this special episode of Hold Your Fire!, Richard is joined by Crisis Group's Iran director Ali Vaez and Gulf and Arabian Peninsula director Yasmine Farouk to discuss the U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities over the weekend. They assess what is known about the damage at the nuclear sites and how far the attacks might have set back Iran's nuclear program. They unpack why diplomatic efforts to prevent escalation have broken down and how Gulf Arab capitals view the situation. They also talk through Iran's options to respond and whether there's still a path back to diplomacy. For more, check out our latest Hold Your Fire! episode, “Will he? Won't he? This week on No News Is News, hosts Alex R. Wagner and Kelly Cline dive deep into the explosive conflict between the United States and Iran. Following major US airstrikes on three of Iran's key nuclear facilities, the world is on edge, and the political fallout is just beginning.Join Alex and Kelly as they break down the most intense media moments, including Marco Rubio's heated "Brett Kavanaugh energy" interview, a fiery debate between Ted Cruz and Tucker Carlson over AIPAC and the biblical justifications for war, and the varied reactions from politicians like Andrew Cuomo, Adam Kinzinger, and JD Vance. From sarcastically joining "Team Iran" to dissecting the "America, F*ck Yeah!" nature of the attacks, they cut through the noise of both mainstream and independent media. They also explore the deeper, often undiscussed historical and theological roots of the conflict, from the 1979 revolution to the biblical story of Jacob and whether the modern state of Israel truly represents the "Promised Land."Plus, they investigate a fan's tip about Benjamin Netanyahu's all-American education and fall down a rabbit hole of 9/11 conspiracy theories, questioning who really holds the power in the "unshakable alliance."If you're tired of the spin and want a raw, unfiltered, and often hilarious take on the news that matters, this is the episode for you.Chapters:00:00 - Intro: Iran's "Weaponization Ambitions"00:34 - Why Does Iran Need a Space Program?02:07 - "America, F*ck Yeah!": Reacting to the Airstrikes03:34 - Marco Rubio's "Brett Kavanaugh Energy"05:07 - Why We're Now "Team Iran" (Satire)07:07 - The Rise of Independent Journalism ("Mo News")09:26 - Media Spin & Political Fearmongering11:27 - The 1979 Iranian Revolution & The Rise of Theocracy14:42 - Is Anyone Telling the Truth?17:08 - What About Gaza?19:23 - Ted Cruz vs. Tucker Carlson: The AIPAC Debate28:06 - Ted Cruz's Biblical Justification for Supporting Israel30:41 - The Biblical Story of Jacob (Israel)33:24 - Are DNA Tests Banned in Israel? Meredith is easily one of the most interesting and unusual people we've ever had on the podcast, and her story is a testament to just how much small-town living appeals to all kinds of people, even people that you may not expect. This episode is all about how Meredith–a Marin County, California native–found herself in rural South Dakota, and what we can do to make our small towns more welcoming for all different kinds of people who want to make their lives here. About Meredith: Meredith McMurray was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, CA. She was home-schooled for all but one of her twelve grade school years. Then, in 2006, she enlisted into the US Marine Corps at age 18 and served four years active duty, deploying twice during that time. After an Honorable Discharge, Meredith began an exploration into the world of health and healing practices such as yoga, neuromuscular therapy, meditation, self-inquiry, and performing arts! She began learning Aerial Acrobatics in 2012, at first as a hobby. By 2016, Meredith began making a living off of teaching and performing Aerial Acrobatics. In May 2019, Meredith was presented with an opportunity to take over ownership of Aerial Arts Fairfax (IG account no longer managed), a local beloved Aerial Academy in Fairfax, CA. The offer was for Meredith to purchase the business and facilitate over 200 actively enrolled students to continue their training—or watch it close and cease to exist due to the original founder opting to retire earlier in 2019. Out of pure love for the art form (and a lack of awareness of what was to come), Meredith took a risk and invested five figures of borrowed money into purchasing the business. Aerial Arts Fairfax had eight great months under Meredith's leadership, and then March 2020 came along... Obliterated by the statewide lockdowns and dysfunctional social practices implemented by the majority in the San Francisco Bay Area, Meredith consciously chose to no longer serve that community with her business nor her physical presence. Meredith had heard former Governor Kristi Noem say, "All South Dakotans are Essential." So, after sixteen total months of fighting to regain any sense of meaning or purpose in California, Meredith packed her Prius and drove to South Dakota with no plan. Once she arrived, Meredith was able to shake hands with Gov. Kristi Noem and thank her for standing up for the people of South Dakota and their occupations. Then, Meredith was able to work a seasonal job in South Dakota and earn enough to pay herself back from the five-figure financial wound created by the State of California. After that, Meredith moved across state lines four times before eventually returning back to South Dakota, where she has been living for the last 2.5 years. By no means is Meredith walking off into the sunset... She continues to wake up every morning wondering how she can best serve the community, make real friends, and express important messages in whatever form. Please enjoy the speech Meredith recently gave at the Black Hills Aerial Cup: https://youtu.be/Y15XccuXMFw?si=IGgYzsz8jtsfQqpA In this episode, we cover: How Meredith went from Marin County, CA to small-town South Dakota What she loves about small towns What she'd love for her own small-town experience Resources Mentioned: Freedom Fest: https://freedomfest.com/ Speech for anyone who's ever felt "non-essential”: https://youtu.be/Y15XccuXMFw?si=IGgYzsz8jtsfQqpA Meredith's website: www.DanglingDance.com Get in touch: DanglingDance@gmail.com Small-Town Shout-Out! When a grown man is buying condoms for another grown man, you know we're going to have things to discuss. And that's before we've even got to this exceptionally upmarket sex shop. From first dates to just how vanilla we are, we get through a lot in this week's episode. Join Jayne and Heather as they go through each episode, sharing their thoughts, feelings and observations while throwing in a healthy dose of millennial nonsense, tangents, feminist quips and general gal pal energy. If you're new here or just need more of our dulcet Scottish tones between releases, you can still listen to every episode of our original podcast, I've Never Seen The OC. New episode release every Friday for all ten episodes of Season 1. Don't forget you can still get in touch with us on Instagram @neverseentheoc
