In this episode, consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist Dr Fadi joins Laura for an open, practical conversation about pelvic floor health, incontinence, prolapse and the realities of modern obstetrics.Dr Fadi explains how childbirth, ageing and menopause affect the pelvic floor, and why so many women end up living with stress incontinence, prolapse and faecal incontinence in silence. He walks through the full range of treatment options — from physiotherapy and pessaries to urethral bulking, Botox, sacral neuromodulation, robotic surgery, and the mesh procedures paused in Ireland since 2018.The conversation also takes in interstitial cystitis, vaginal oestrogen, the impact of long inductions on older mothers, and the trade-offs women now weigh up between a vaginal delivery and a caesarean section. Dr Fadi closes with a reflection on his time working with Syrian refugees, where he met 13-year-old mothers and a 26-year-old grandmother.

What makes a country stand out in the global race for investment? In this episode of Develop This!, Dennis Fraise speaks with Fadi Shadeh of the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency to explore why Hungary has become one of Central Europe's most dynamic investment destinations. From its strategic location at the heart of Europe to its deep integration into the EU single market, Hungary offers companies access to major markets, efficient logistics, and strong infrastructure. Fadi explains how the country's positioning enables fast access across Europe while supporting complex global supply chains. The conversation dives into Hungary's economic transformation, particularly its shift toward higher-value industries like electromobility, battery manufacturing, business services, and R&D. We talk about something that feels almost counter-cultural today: the power of slowing down. From Fr. Fadi's beautiful multi-course Italian dinner for the Bishop to the everyday grind most of us live in, we explore how constant work, hustle culture, and “rise and grind” thinking are quietly harming our faith, families, and peace of mind. We unpack why true leisure isn't laziness—it's actually one of the most human and Christian things we can do. We discuss "Babette's Feast," how shared meals have shaped Christian culture for centuries, the beauty of real conversation and presence, and why the Sabbath is meant to be a protest against the worship of work and money. We also get honest about the struggle: busy parents, priest life, economic pressures, and how hard it is to break the habit of constant busyness. Featuring: Fr. Simon Esshaki, Fr. Andy Younan, Fr. Through art education and creative expression, he supports young people living in camps, helping them process trauma and rebuild a sense of hope and agency.Shazia Bibi is a cultural producer exploring narratives of identity, belonging, and social justice that transcend borders.East Street Arts supports artists to explore, connect, and challenge artists to be catalysts of change through art. This week, we sit down with a man who is reshaping how the world sees Middle Eastern cuisine: the one and only Fadi Kattan. Born in Bethlehem, classically trained in Paris, and now leading acclaimed restaurants in London and Toronto, Fadi is more than a chef — he's a storyteller, a cultural historian, and one of the most important voices in food today. From his grandmother's kitchen to Michelin recognition, from Venetian influences to Palestinian terroir, this is a conversation about identity, resistance, generosity, and flavour — with a side of glorious beard and just enough nicotine to get us started. We dive deep into his London restaurant Akub in Notting Hill — a place where Palestinian produce and philosophy meet seasonal British sourcing. Fadi talks us through slow-cooked short rib with feta, coarse-textured hummus (the way it should be), mansaf with fermented jameed — the “Arab umami” — and eggs with sumac that honour sacred breakfast rituals with his father. He unpacks the politics of shakshuka, the beauty of kaleid mandala, and why hummus has absolutely no business being chocolate. It's food rooted in Bethlehem's old souq, in farmers knocking on the door at 7am, in adapting to what's available — never cherry tomatoes in January. But this episode goes far beyond the plate. Fadi opens up about launching a gastronomic restaurant in Bethlehem during the Second Intifada, cooking by head torch when the electricity was cut, refusing to overcook 40-day-aged lamb, and building a wine list that proudly features Palestinian producers. He reflects on brutal kitchen culture in 1990s Paris, the scars — literal and emotional — that shaped him, and why culinary education must return to mothers' kitchens instead of espuma machines. There's sharp commentary on food appropriation, trends, terroir, and what it really means to cook with integrity.Pre Order Ben's Incredible Book - All You Can Eat - By Clicking Here - https://www.amazon.co.uk/All-You-Can-Eat-British/dp/1805221523Get 2 Months of Blinq For Free - With Code - GOTOBLINQ - https://blinqme.com/Order The Greatest Meat In The Country From HG Walter Here & Have Restaurant Quality Meals From Home - www.hgwalter.com Hosted on Acast. Happier guests who spend more and a better bottom line for you. Ready to turn waits into wins? Visit accesso.com/ROIClinic. The queues are virtual. The results are real. Salma Abassaly is the co-founder and managing partner of CERTIS LLC. Born and raised in Paris, she moved to the United Arab Emirates in 2007 and built a career that spanned luxury hospitality, corporate services, managing children's play areas, and leading leisure facilities before becoming an entrepreneur. CERTIS LLC is a UAE-based inspection and certification body that serves rides, attractions, and leisure facilities, pairing technical rigor with real-world operational insight. In this interview, Salma talks about inspections and certifications, relationship capital, and normalizing diversity. Inspections and certifications “We work with leading operators regionally and we ensure their rides meet international standards and we offer them an end-to-end approach from concept design to installation inspection as well as their ongoing operational audits and inspection.” Salma explains that CERTIS LLC provides an end-to-end approach, from concept and installation inspections through ongoing operational audits and periodic inspections. Her own operator background means she “speaks the language of the operators,” helping clients see an inspection body not as a cost or constraint but as an ally that aligns perception and reality through standards. She and her partner, Fadi, intentionally balance operational fluency and technical rigor so there is “no gap” when addressing client concerns. She also emphasizes credibility as foundational. Accreditation was the stamp that allowed CERTIS LLC to demonstrate quality, reliability, and transparency from day one, opening doors with regional leaders and setting a bar the company intends to uphold as it grows across the region and into emerging markets. Relationship capital “I think the transaction is the ultimate accomplishment of the relationship through the company, but before that, there's the relationship.” Relationships are not just a tactic for Salma; they are a metric of success. She prioritizes availability, consistency, and nurturing human connections beyond business, noting that trust built early makes hard conversations possible when inspections surface issues clients would rather not hear. To protect the partnership at the heart of CERTIS LLC, she and Fadi even engaged in proactive relationship coaching at the company's founding to set ground rules for how they would show up, disagree, and decide together. That investment sustains a culture of collaboration with each other and with clients, where long-term partnership matters as much as revenue. Salma adds that surrounding yourself with people who are “smarter than you” elevates outcomes and turns competition into collaboration. Growth, she says, is rarely linear; persistence, shared purpose, and strong partners win over time. Normalizing diversity “The goal is not really to highlight gender, but more to normalize diversity.” Reflecting on often being one of few women in boardrooms, Salma argues that representation fuels aspiration and that women's leadership brings emotional intelligence, resilience, and collaboration that benefit teams and guests alike. Her advice to women entering the industry is to lead as their authentic selves, not by copying stereotypically male behaviors. She hopes her daughter's generation won't even need to notice whether there are two women in a meeting, because diversity will simply be normal. Salma also shares her experience of the UAE as dynamic, opportunity-rich, and safe, with visible commitment to entrepreneurship and women in leadership. That environment, she says, has enabled her to turn vision into reality and to scale with clarity of purpose.   To connect with Salma directly, reach out to her on LinkedIn, and to learn more about the company, visit the CERTIS LLC website. Watch Here: https://youtu.be/n8w08TJMPdIAbout the Guest: Fadi Malouf is a strategic buyer, advisor, and capital partner focused on buying, growing, and exiting companies with scale potential. His career began in the fitness and wellness space before shifting into software, tech, and eventually structured M&A. Now the founder of FM Capital and FM Advisory, Fadi partners with operators and investors to fund deals, implement systems, and position companies for high-value exits. He is currently raising a $100M fund and works with over 60 independent advisors across his network.Summary:In this episode of the How to Exit Podcast, Ron sits down with Fadi Malouf, a seasoned M&A strategist and founder of FM Capital and FM Advisory. Fadi shares a refreshingly candid look into his evolution from personal trainer to software company exit, to advising and funding acquisition deals in the lower-middle market. The conversation covers not only how Fadi thinks about deal structure, ownership vs. control, and turnaround risk—but also how his personal values and lived experiences shape the way he buys and builds businesses.Listeners will find this episode especially compelling if they're trying to bridge the gap between being an operator and becoming an investor. Fadi doesn't hold back on his disdain for turnaround deals, his belief in control over ownership, and his obsession with systems, delegation, and operational execution. But what makes this interview resonate is the philosophical undercurrent: businesses are problems to be solved, but you better love solving them.Key Takeaways:Buy with an exit in mind – Fadi learned the hard way that starting a company without thinking about its eventual exit is a recipe for pain and lost value.Turnarounds are not for amateurs – He strongly advises new buyers to avoid turnaround deals unless they have the capital, team, and turnaround-specific experience.Control beats ownership – Fadi prioritizes control over equity, emphasizing results and alignment rather than maximizing ownership at the expense of execution. The real bottleneck is often the founder – Companies under $3M in revenue are frequently hampered by owners who haven't fired themselves from key roles.Invest in systems and delegation early – Fadi emphasizes the importance of building a company that runs without you; hire people smarter than you and get out of the way.Culture kills or scales – If you buy a company with entrenched staff resistant to change, expect a battle. Culture change is slow and hard.Capital without credibility is a deal killer – Bringing money to the table means nothing if the operator can't prove capability or relinquish control.Fall in love with the problem – You'll face chaos, adversity, and setbacks. If you don't love what you're doing, it'll break you.--------------------------------------------------Contact Fadi onLinkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/fadimalouf/Website: https://fadimalouf.com/--------------------------------------------------

What if our society's deepest prejudices weren't about race, gender, or sexuality—but height? In his groundbreaking allegorical novel, acclaimed Jordanian author and activist Fadi Zaghmout imagines just such a world, crafting a powerful meditation on discrimination and desire that speaks directly to our contemporary debates about identity and inclusion. The Man of Middling Height (Syracuse University Press, 2025) follows a short dressmaker whose life is upended when she meets Tallan, a man whose middle height places him outside the rigid tall/short binary that governs their society. As their forbidden romance blossoms, they must navigate a world where height determines everything from social status to romantic possibilities. Through their story and those of surrounding characters—including a short person in a polyamorous relationship with two tall partners, and a tall activist who scandalously loves another tall person—Zaghmout deftly reframes contemporary discussions about gender identity and sexuality through the lens of height discrimination. Fadi Zaghmout is a Jordanian author and sexual freedoms and body rights advocate. He has published five novels, including The Bride of Amman, Heaven on Earth, Laila, and Hope on Earth.
