Does God Care about Nobodies? But I want to start with a different question…When you've got great news, who's the first person you tell? Our parents Our siblingsOur closest friendsBack then it was pretty simple, low-keyToday it's a whole thing…Make fun of gender revealToday we're going to see how God answered that questionWho was the first person he told about the birth of Jesus? You'd expect priests or prophets or kingsBut that's not at all who he shared with firstHe went to a bunch of nobodies!?1 Corinthians 1:26-29 (NLT) 26 Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world's eyes or powerful or wealthy when God called you. 27 Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. 28 God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important. 29 As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God.This is a shocking theme throughout scripture.Abraham - a childless, a nomadic herdsman from a pagan family Moses - a fugitive, living as a shepherd in the wilderness after killing an EgyptianDavid - the youngest of eight brothers and a shepherd boy, overlooked even by his fatherAnd now we'll see the theme again in the Christmas story…Luke 2:8 (NLT) 8 That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep. You know, shepherds are all over the place in the Bible. And so I think we maybe, when we read this, I think we might get the wrong idea about this. Because after all, Abraham was a shepherd. Psalm 23, the most famous Psalm in the Bible says, the Lord is my shepherd. Jesus is called the great shepherd. Pastors are called shepherds. And so I think when we think of the word shepherd, we think of a good thing, right? We think of a positive thing, but the reality is that shepherds were the lowliest people in society. In fact, even in Genesis chapter 46, this is Abraham saying, every shepherd is an abomination unto the Egyptians. Here's the truth about shepherds 2000 years ago:Shepherds:Responsibilities:Tended sheep, guided them to food and water, and protected them from predators.Dealt with the grime, smells, and dangers of working with livestock.Worked tirelessly in mundane and often thankless tasks.Social Status:Considered lowly and marginalized in...
Have you prayed and prayed and prayed only to get nothing but crickets from God? No matter how earnest you pray, all you seem to get from God is silence? A question people ask a lot is, “Why are my prayers not being answered?” It's a great question because Jesus tells us to ask God for help and to bring our petitions before Him so He can answer them, but maybe you're discouraged because you feel as though God doesn't hear you or that He cares. He does both! He hears you and He cares!!! The reason your prayers may not be answered is because you aren't walking in your calling! Paul discusses that here in chapter 4, that we are to walk worthy in the manner we are called. We are called to live different from the world and he gives four examples of how we should walk. If any one of them are out of line, not in the will of God, it could possibly hinder our prayers! How are you walking?

All throughout scripture, God has been working to get closer and closer to His people. He's demonstrated His love and revealed His heart by closing the gap that separates us from Him, and He's done so by sending His Son to die for us and His Spirit to dwell in us.

Does God Care about People in Prison? Ex-Con, Steven Snook Says He Does Does God really care about people in prison? What does it look like for God to pursue the heart of rebellious, prideful, stiff necked, hard headed, broken people? Since these adjectives could describe any of us at varying stages of our life, maybe that question has crossed your mind. If so, I'm glad you're here because my guest today, Steven Snook answers it from the position of having been a prisoner. Not only a prisoner to the experiences and circumstances in his life but as a prisoner in a federal prison, here in the United States. This is the longest episode I've done to date and I'd like to say it's because Steven and I discuss his twenty-two year prison sentence, therefore it would naturally be a long conversation. But the truth is, it's long because of the countless stories of how God interrupted Steven's criminal career, drastically changed his life and then proceeds to use everything about Steven's prison journey to cross paths with individuals that are on God's heart. Steven shares example after example of how God showed up in some of the most unlikely places, one example being solitary confinement. Steven talks about how God used him to shine the Light of the World (God's Son) into the hearts of those who were willing to grab the lifeline that God offers to each of us. Steven also had encouragement for the praying momma, grandmother, sister, aunt who is wrapping their loved one in prayer, asking, begging God to intervene. Because Steven has seen, over and over the power of a praying woman when it comes to inmates making peace with God. Could it be that God searches out the ones that a prayer warrior is petitioning God for and standing in faith for answered prayers? If you think about it, there's justice/injustice, good/evil, truth/lie, love/hate, God/Satan. My point being, there are only 2 realities that we should be concerned with, heaven and hell. This life as we know it, is a foreshadowing of what is to come when we transition into eternity. While here, we get glimpses of what heaven is like and we get glimpses of what hell is like. I personally think that institutionalized correction centers are a prime example of the foreshadowing, a small sample of what hell will be like. But take heart, because on this side of eternity God enters into those places through willing men and women who will bend their will to God's plans to reach every person possible. At the time of this recording, January of 2023, Steven has been out of jail coming up on a year. After fulfilling his sentence, he's transitioned from reaching the prisoners behind the bars to people outside the jail that have erected their own personal prisons or man-made hell. Does God care about people in prison? You bet He does! It's the reason He sent His Son, to save us, to enable us to live free in the here and now no matter your environment/circumstances/situation. As you listen to what Steven shares, may your heart be captivated by the beauty of who Christ is in this type of setting and the lengths that He will go to in order to create an intersection between His obedient son or daughter and a prodigal that He is passionately pursuing. God Speaks Beautiful Things in the Dark! Connect with Steven Snook: Website: JesusSpeaksLLC.com Rapha Scripture Frame: https://jesusspeaksllc.com/products/rapha-frame-15 Email: JesusSpeaksLLC@gmail.com Bio: Steven Snook, Owner and Creator of Jesus Speaks LLC (Life, Liberty & Christianity) uses every opportunity he can to share the story of how God interrupted his life of extreme poverty and crime that had started at the age of 15. After many years of hardened criminal activity God reaches Steven in one personally devastating moment. Even though Steven knew very little about the God of the Holy Bible, he begins to experience this God in supernatural ways. As Steven begins to yield to the miraculous, God works both in him and through him. God uses everything about Steven's prison sentence, including each passing year, the different prisons he's sent to, even keeping Steven in solitary confinement for a year, using Steven to reach the darkest, most isolated place in prison. Steven's personal transformation, including what he has currently brought to the marketplace (Rapha Scripture Frame), is a testimony of God's power and authority to take what Satan meant to destroy him with and turn it for his good and God's glory. His training ground, that of the various federal prisons across the United States, puts Steven in a unique position to speak to those who are not going to be reached for Christ in traditional ways. Now, outside prison, his passion to share the gospel and good news of Jesus Christ has not slowed down. You'll find him talking to complete strangers about the approachable, miracle working God of the Holy Bible. We tackle one of the most critical questions to ask in life by looking at some of the Biblical evidence demonstrating the love and care that God has for us. From being his children, to being loved when we don't love Him, to the warnings of the prophets, to the sacrifice of Jesus Son of God and finally to the eternal familial relationship that God wants with us, we will see many demonstrations of the love of God for us all.

The golden rule might seem like a great command to follow, but its not actually in the bible. As we study further in the sermon on the mount in Matthew, we see that Jesus does give us reminders, challenges, and encouragements to follow that will help us actually live according to Him. Jesus encourages us to pray persistently, and to knock, and the door will be open. Pastor Matt shows us that our prayer life is just that, a life, not a one and done activity. As we study the bible, we see also that not every prayer request is always answered, because only God knows how to give far better that we know how to ask. Take heart, God cares, has unlimited resources, and delights in blessing us as His children when we ask, seek, and knock. What things are you struggling with in prayer, and what things should you be more persistent in? We would love the chance to pray with you, so feel free to call our prayer hotline at 770-590-0372.

Does GOD Care about the Human Race is a question many people are seeking an answer to. In this episode we are going to be discussing 4 critical elements identified in the book of Revelation Chapter 22, in order to answer the question; Does GOD Care about the Human Race? The 4 elements identified and analyzed are: A Pure River of Water of life The Tree of Life The Curse GOD's mark on the forehead of HIS people A Pure River of Water of Life We exam the book of Ezekiel to to learn about the Pure River of Water of Life. In chapter 40 of this book we see that GOD takes Ezekiel into a vision of the future. where he actually sees the construction of a river which has the supernatural ability to heal. For this reason we see that GOD does care about the human race. The Tree of Life The Book of the Secrets of Enoch takes us on a journey into the third heaven created by GOD. Enoch provides us with a bird's eye view of the tree of life and where it is located. Most noteworthy, Christ our Messiah confirms that the Tree of Life is in the Paradise of GOD. The Curse The Book of the Secrets of Enoch provides us with an explicit conversation between GOD and Enoch, as GOD explains to Enoch what events led to the Curse. For instance, the ignorance of mankind is a curse because mankind choses to ignore GOD's instructions. God's mark on the foreheads of HIS people The books of Revelation and the Ezekiel provides us with events showing that GOD does put HIS mark on the foreheads of individuals who love HIM. Consequently, HE with holds HIS mark from the people who rejects HIM, even though HE loves them. As a result, HE does not force HIMSelf into the lives of people who don't want HIM there. Each of the referenced material provides direct supporting evidence to substantiate that the 4 elements exists. Therefore, they support what has been written in the Book of Revelation, chapter 22. As a result of the analyzed information, we see that specific characters and behaviors of GOD were revealed. Which in turned led to the first answer to the question; Why does God Care about the Human Race? Ultimately, we come to realize that GOD is loving, concerned, caring and compassionate towards the human race, because we are HIS creation. Consequently, HE designed a plan to accomplish our reunion with HIM. But that plan only applies to the segment of the human race that loves HIM and want to be reunited with HIM. The following reference books were utilized to analyze each of the 4 identified elements for facts as written in the New King James Version Holy Bible, the JPS Tanakh, and the Slavonic translation of The Book of the Secrets of Enoch, edited by R.H. Charles. Links In This Episode: **Disclaimer: Links Provided May Contain Amazon Affiliates. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. | Scripture: So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites. Exodus 3:8 Transcript: And now, Admonition, brought to you by the Collierville Church of Christ. The Psalmist writer once wrote and questioned, What is man that you are mindful of him? Writing to God and asking God, Why do you care so much about this small speck of people on this small speck of a planet in this small galaxy, in this massive universe with all you've created, why do you care about man? And yet in Exodus chapter three, God says, concerning his covenant people, Israel, the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He says, I've seen their sorrows. I know their sorrows. I know their pain, and I have come down to bring them up out of Egypt. God not only cares, God acts on the behalf of his people. So here's the question for you. Are you one of his people? Because his enemies, he destroys, but the humble, he lifts up. For more from the Collierville Church of Christ. Visit Colliervillecoc.org.
We all face situations and circumstances in life that cause pain, discouragement, and even depression. I'm sure you've asked this question: Does God care about me? How can I know? Today we're going to examine the evidence and come to a conclusion, but it may mean looking at your faith in a more real light than you've exposed it to before. Does God care, and if he does, who exactly are you to him?
Justin Dillard and Keith Wahl ask the question "Does God Care?" through the movie For Love of the Game.
We've all asked the question, we've all struggled at one time or another. Does God Care? But how would we know the answer, not just individually, but across the board as humans. What would be enough for us to know that God is concerned about us and our lives? John gives us the answers in his gospel. Discipleship Questions: 1. When have you asked the question ‘does God care?' 2. Why do you think John opens his gospel account with such a strong statement? 3. Why would have John 1:14 have been such a shocking verse to John's original readers? 4. What do you think was God's motivation for sending his son to the world? 5. How does the life, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus answer the question ‘does God care'?

New episode is live! Check out the latest episode titled “Does God Care?” We talk about caring. Mary, Martha and whether God cares about the things we tend to care about. Luke 10:38-42 (ESV) 38 Now as they went on their way, Jesus[a] entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his teaching. 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” 41 But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, 42 but one thing is necessary.[b] Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.” John 12:2-8 (ESV) 2 So they gave a dinner for him there. Martha served, and Lazarus was one of those reclining with him at table. 3 Mary therefore took a pound[a] of expensive ointment made from pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. 4 But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (he who was about to betray him), said, 5 “Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii[b] and given to the poor?” 6 He said this, not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief, and having charge of the moneybag he used to help himself to what was put into it. 7 Jesus said, “Leave her alone, so that she may keep it[c] for the day of my burial. 8 For the poor you always have with you, but you do not always have me.” 1 Peter 5:7 (KJV) 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. Luke 9:57-62 (ESV) 57 As they were going along the road, someone said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.” 58 And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.” 59 To another he said, “Follow me.” But he said, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.” 60 And Jesus[a] said to him, “Leave the dead to bury their own dead. But as for you, go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” 61 Yet another said, “I will follow you, Lord, but let me first say farewell to those at my home.” 62 Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.” Mark 4:35-41(ESV) 35 On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.” 36 And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. And other boats were with him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. 38 But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” 39 And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40 He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?” 41 And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?” Matthew 22:15-22 (ESV) 15 Then the Pharisees went and plotted how to entangle him in his words. 16 And they sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that you are true and teach the way of God truthfully, and you do not care about anyone's opinion, for you are not swayed by appearances.[a] 17 Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?” 18 But Jesus, aware of their malice, said, “Why put me to the test, you hypocrites? 19 Show me the coin for the tax.” And they brought him a denarius.[b] 20 And Jesus said to them, “Whose likeness and inscription is this?” 21 They said, “Caesar's.” Then he said to them, “Therefore render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's.” 22 When they heard it, they marveled.
