Their music touches on the realities of an early New York, social change and independent thought. Stigma's guitar work was central to releases like United Blood and Victim in Pain, albums that became cornerstones of the hardcore genre. Stigma was involved with Madball, a band fronted by Roger Miret's younger half-brother, Freddy Madball. He also launched a solo project under the name Stigma, releasing albums such as New York Blood and For Love and Glory. In 2024, Stigma published his autobiography, The Most Interesting Man in the World. 57th on the 1999 box office chart, For Love of the Game marked director Raimi's first foray into big-budget, mass-market filmmaking (which would ultimately pave the way for being handed the enormous task of finally bringing Spiderman to the screen in 2002) But love and baseball was very different territory for Raimi, and his inexperience in the realm of pop movie making (as well as in directing romance) proved to be a hindrance. For Love of the Game is, unofficially, the third and final entry in Kevin Costner's baseball trilogy, following 1989's Field of Dreams and 1988's Bull Durham. The film tries to balance its dual nature as a romance and a straight sports movie, and while it occasionally hits the mark, most critics agreed: For Love of the Game is pretty great when it's about the game, and not so great when it's about the love. But it's baseball season, and this was by far 1999's biggest baseball-themed movie, so we asked friend of the show - and White Sox diehard - Jacki Krestel to help us call some balls and strikes on this one!

Ray Bradbury never won a Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, but received a Pulitzer Special Citation in 2007 for his impact on literature. The answer is three. Booth Tarkington, MacKinlay Kantor and Michael Shaara. Booth Tarkington is one of only four novelists to win the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction more than once, along with William Faulkner, John Updike, and Colson Whitehead. Tarkington wrote only three short sci-fi stories. MacKinlay Kantor wrote eight short sci-fi stories and one science fiction novel If the South Had Won the Civil War released in 1961.Michael Shaara is the most well known of the three. Shaara was born in Jersey City, New Jersey in 1928. Before he began selling sci-fi for 2 cents a word in the 1950s he was a boxer and a police officer. He won his Pulitzer for his novel about the Battle of Gettysburg, The Killer Angels which won the award in 1975, and was showcased on the big screen in the 1993 movie Gettysburg starring Tom Berenger and Martin Sheen.Shaara also wrote the 1991 novel For Love of the Game which was made into the 1999 film with the same name starring Kevin Costner and Kelly Preston. But it all began back in 1952. He wrote two dozen short sci-fi stories and this was his first. We're reminded of the importance of the heart during various times of the year, spring romances, august-Leo passion, warm fires, and gatherings in the fall and winter.   We are reminded of our hearts.  We are pushed to open and acknowledge our hearts throughout the year.  Our compass needs to change with the changes in our lives and environment.     Sometimes, our North- changes, which would make sense as our direction changes. Sometimes, that north change and redirection is from a life event, a career change, an addition to the family, or a death. Our mental processes can shift our hearts.   Learning or discovering things about ourselves or others will change our mental filter and create a heart change.    Everything is connected.   When we open our hearts, we expect this magic pixie dust to come sprinkling upon us, and all will be right in the world.  For LOVE solves ALL problems, right?Humanity is going through vast adjustments of the heart right now. Maintaining a foundation of love, not getting distracted, and maintaining optimism for the future is hard. The universe shows us where our compass is off, what direction we need to correct, and if we are brave enough to make those adjustments. Change our mental processes and beliefs to align with what is right for humanity.
