Dr. Rasmus discusses the US economy's current critical juncture: Is recession already here after this past week's 2nd Quarter US GDP report showing two consecutive quarters now of US GDP contraction? Why is there a debate going on that it's not yet a recession (Biden, Yellen, Powell) despite two quarters of contraction? The two definitions of recession are described. Why those who say it's not yet a recession are wrong. It is. Dr. Rasmus next discusses the Fed's decision last Wednesday to raise interest rates another 75 pts. Why the US stock markets & investors welcomed it and surged. What did Fed chairman, Powell, say in announcing the rate hikes that signaled the Fed has lost control of the economy? How many more rate hikes will follow? Why Powell says ‘no recession' yet and believes a ‘soft landing' is possible? Why it is not. What's response of other global central banks in Europe & Japan and why rate hikes to date won't happen effect on reducing inflation much.

We now have Stagflation or if you prefer, Stayflation with an oncoming recession. Globalization is quickly morphing into two trading blocs (China/Russia and U.S./Europe/Japan). Many countries are temporarily caught in the middle. Russia/China is moving rapidly to Yuan/Rouble oil and natural gas trading while bypassing the U.S. dollar SWIFT global financial network. Many import/export relationships are changing with higher prices a likely outcome for many months ahead…if not years.

Africa’s future largely hangs on whether it can deal with its massive infrastructure deficit. The good news: digital infrastructure has made great progress, with telecommunications coverage expanding at a fast pace across both low- and middle-income countries. The bad: only 35% of the population has access to electricity, with a huge urban-rural divide. Both the EU and Japan recognise that massive and immediate investment in infrastructure in Africa is the only way to create the backbone needed to foster agricultural and industrial development, create jobs and promote sustainable growth; and linking up their multi-faceted development actions could bring huge benefits.
“THE TOMORROW PEOPLE” is an album that has been slowly building for years in 4 different studios in Japan and the UK. One of the issues of this album is that it’s such a big production I’ve yet been able to put it together in its final state. Especially the recording and arranging of the needed male and female opera vocals and other studio musicians. However I think it features some of my best work and want to put it out in its unfinished form for people to listen anyway in the meantime, before I go through each song rebuilding and remastering for a release date which will probably be in a couple of years. The theme of the album started from and is based on the birth of the Internet and the attributes of our ever increasing connected planet. It begins with “A global village linked together by electricity and light” and then precedes to globe trot around the world with tracks like “BUNJALUNG” (Oceania), “CHIKAMICHI” (Asia), “DARK ANGEL” (Europe) & SUNBEAM” (America). Normally the music I write has a very Sci-Fi, spacey or off-world feel but in this case I had very ‘Earthly’ images in mind. With its global outlook the atmosphere is predominantly optimistic, celebratory and hopefully an emotionally positive experience for the listener. The female vocal talents feature the Australian Opera singer Bronwen Stephens, Yan Kuang from Shanghai, and Adeyto (from Europe/Japan). Tracks: 01 ESCALATION (unfinished) 02 GLOBAL VILLAGE 03 DARK ANGEL (Angelo Nero) 04 SUNBEAM 05 CHIKAMICHI [feat. Bronwen Stephens] 06 BUNDJALUNG “The 4th World” 07 LOVE HEROINE [feat. Bronwen Stephens] 08 WORLD WIDE CHILD [feat. Yan Kuang & Adeyto] 09 TOMORROW PEOPLE [feat. Adeyto] 10 FINAL FRONTIER (unfinished)
