He is well known for his skits on social media that depict what he goes through with patients as a first responder; he brings comedy and education together flawlessly. So naturally, we had to bring him on to talk about mental health within the FD, wild stories from his field, and what it takes to do what he does! We're different branches of the same tree, and there's so much to talk about, but I don't want to give away, so you'll just have to listen, won't ya!? Coffee  How being flexible firefighters impacted the launch of Fire Dept. Coffee Luke explains how he got started with coffee roasting and why he turned it into a business Why Fire Dept. Coffee's products are sold via e-commerce Luke and Jason explain how they handled production and fulfillment when they started, where they source their coffee beans, and the different flavors they sell  Was there a business plan for Fire Dept. With entrepreneurship, regular folks can discover solutions to the challenges people face every day. However, to be a successful entrepreneur, you don't always need to be business savvy when you start your venture. According to Luke Schneider and Jason Patton from Fire Dept. Coffee, you can learn these skills as you slowly grow your business. When Luke and Jason went into the coffee roasting business, they had no background in business — so they had to learn as they went. They didn't have a business plan or strategy in place, but they learned how to build an e-commerce business on their own. Within just a few months, they outgrew their first location as demand for their products grew. In this episode of the NexxtLevel Brands Podcast, Steve Cleere is joined by Luke Schneider, the Founder and CEO of Fire Dept. Coffee, and Jason Patton, the Vice President of Fire Dept. Funny man Jason Patton, takes a very unique approach to bringing awareness to mental health - he uses comedy. In this episode, Jason talks about the best way to treat firefighters when they are exposed to trauma and the thought process around getting help. He also talks about his personal views on what needs to change and what is already being done. Mental health providers face an uphill battle when treating firefighters. One of the biggest challenges within the fire service when seeking help is the stigma. Firefighters do not trust that mental health providers are able to understand their problems and therefore resist going into treatment. Firefighters like Jason Patton can speak the language and help get other firefighters into treatment by explaining the process and reducing the anxiety around the unknown. Having someone who has been there, telling you what to expect, is very powerful and extremely helpful for that person to take the first step. Aside from his service in fire, he is also the creator of the hilarious firefighter content with Fire Department Chronicles!Jason is one of those dudes that always has a well timed laugh when folks need it. He says, "I started making videos as an outlet for the stress that I was enduring from my job as a firefighter,” Jason said. “It was a great outlet for me and my coworkers to de-stress and cope with what we see on a daily basis. Then I started getting messages from other firefighters and first responders saying that it helped them to laugh after bad calls.”He also is the co-owner of Fire Department Coffee Co - A structure firefighter themed coffee company that gives back to the community by donating a portion of the proceeds back to injured firefighters, firefighters battling cancer, and the families of fallen firefighters...In addition to this, he is also giving back to the community by being a part of the Banyan Treatment Center - A treatment center for people battling with addiction and mental health issues.Jason just release a huge shoutout to the wildland community recently, and you can find all of his content at the following links:Fire Department Chronicles: https://www.firedeptcoffee.comFDC YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZbWCodPFwH2QQn772QnUxQFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/firedepartmentchronicles/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/firedepartmentchronicles/?hl=enThis was an awesome episode! If you spend any time on Facebook, you've probably seen the videos posted by Fire Department Chronicles. If you haven't, you need to. Go there right now and look them up. I'll wait. The man behind these videos is Jason Patton. Jason's covered a lot of ground on these videos, from whether TV shows about firefighters are realistic … what do YOU think he found? …to how to get fired. But the one that caught my attention most recently was one in which he critiqued a Wall Street Journal video about firefighting. It was titled, “The Five Things a Firefighter or Paramedic Won't Tell You.” There's link to it in the show notes. Jason set about correcting the record in his own..unique…way. Jason Patton is a career Firefighter and Paramedic who has worked for Riviera Beach, Florida, Fire Rescue for 11 years. He also works with a treatment center specializing in mental health and addiction for first responders. And he is the VP of Fire Department coffee. Support this podcast

Jason Patton from The Fire Department Chronicles stopped by The Protectors to talk comedy skits, mental health, alcohol-infused coffee (including my fav...RUM!!) and tons of other great topics. Jason is is huge proponent of finding ways for the Protector community to mentally heal, including his support & work with Banyan Treatment Centers. .From Banyan's Site: Jason Patton is a Mental Health and Addiction Advocate and Firefighter in South Florida. Jason helps lessen the stigma of people struggling with mental health disorders and substance use disorders through community outreach and speaking across the country in partnership with our nationwide addiction treatment centers. His wildly popular “Firefighter Chronicles” is a series of YouTube and Instagram videos featuring the day in the life of a first responder. His videos have garnered millions of views and over 800,000 followers. Jason found a way to connect with fellow first responders, firefighters, EMTs, and police officers through comic relief and light-hearted, humorous sketches of life behind the scenes of these demanding jobs.Jason wants his followers and friends to know they can come to him for help and he will work to find the right resources for them. Especially for first responders who regularly face high stress and traumatic situations, addiction and mental health problems are common. Instead of struggling with these issues alone, Jason encourages people to get professional help including first responders treatment programs that are specific to people in these professions. Jason's larger than life personality and positive outlook on life helps millions of men and women who are secretly struggling feel better about themselves knowing they are not alone and help is a phone call away.Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/theprotectors)

Jason Patton, an Olympic weightlifter in the past, is now firefighter and the admin owner of social media "Fire Department Chronicles".A Riviera Beach firefighter is always ready to save a life on a moment’s notice and he can also make you laugh. Jason Patton is the man behind Fire Department Chronicles, where he shares hilarious videos to help life the spirits of firefighters worldwide.Besides making them laugh, he encourages his viewers to donate to his organization, Fire Department Coffee Foundation. He is the Vice President of the non-profit and takes pride in giving back and raising money for charities.“Fire Department Chronicles, myself and Fire Department Coffee has donated just over $10,000 to local fire departments, firefighters with cancer. We gave a scholarship, HCI, to a kid in Riviera Beach. We sent him to EMT school for free,” Patton said. “I’ve always said that in any business, or in anyone’s life, the foundation of your life should be built on helping others.”His latest charitable opportunity is not an easy task.Patton is preparing to climb 110 flights of stairs for the San Antonio 9/11 Memorial Climb.“It’s in memory of the 343 firefighters that passed away on 9/11,” he said at Tiara Condominiums on Singer Island, where he trains. “It’s our way of showing tribute to them.”Participants are encouraged to wear their firefighter gear as they climb 110 flights of stairs to pay tribute to the hundreds of emergency responders who were killed in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.But Patton decided to take it a step further by adding an additional 10 pounds of gear for every $500 he raises.“I’ll be climbing a nice 110 pounds of gear,” he said. That means Patton will be going to the top weighing at about 350 pounds, since the average weight of a firefighter in gear is 255 pounds. All the money he will raise for this event will go towards the Tommy Cullen Foundation, an organization that support families of firefighters battling cancer.“It’s humbling to even have the opportunity to do this,” Patton said.Click here to follow Fire Department Chronicles.Check out this week's podcast with Jason Patton the creator of Fire Department Chronicles https://www.facebook.com/firedepartmentchronicleshttps://www.instagram.com/firedepartmentchronicles
