Finding True Contentment

Do you find yourself trapped in a "one-day" mindset? Maybe you think, "One day, I'll be out of debt," "One day, I'll have enough," or "One day, I'll finally relax." We often tie our contentment to future circumstances, yet the Apostle Paul shows us a different way—contentment in the here and now.Paul, who experienced both wealth and poverty, wrote in Philippians 4:11-13 about the secret to contentment:“I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content... I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”Paul's contentment wasn't based on his circumstances but on his relationship with Jesus Christ. Whether he faced abundance or need, his joy remained unshaken because it was rooted in something eternal.Contentment Is LearnedContentment doesn't happen overnight. As Paul emphasized, it's a learned behavior. By shifting our focus from earthly circumstances to God, we begin to see that no amount of money, success, or possessions will ever satisfy us. Only a deep relationship with Jesus can fill the longing in our souls.Hebrews 13:5 reminds us:“Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.'”The Role of GratitudeGratitude plays a crucial role in fostering contentment. Recognizing what God has already done for us transforms our perspective. As Dr. Art Rainer says, “When you realize that you're entitled to nothing, you become thankful for everything.”If you're struggling to feel content, practicing intentional gratitude can shift your mindset from scarcity to abundance.Five Steps to Cultivate ContentmentHere are five practical steps to help you experience lasting contentment:Make Gratitude a Daily Habit: Begin each day by listing three things you're grateful for. This simple practice shifts your focus to what you already have.Bring Your Needs to God: Share your needs (not wants) with God. Approach Him with a thankful heart, trusting in His faithful provision.Find Contentment in Christ: Reflect on Philippians 4:11-13. Meditate on the sufficiency of Christ in meeting your deepest needs.Appreciate the Present: Pause and savor the blessings around you. Stop striving for more and find joy in the moment.Practice Generosity: Generosity turns gratitude into action. Giving to others reminds you of your own blessings and brings joy through sharing.Contentment isn't found in “one day.” It's found today in the sufficiency of Christ, a heart of gratitude, and the joy of giving.A Resource for Finding PeaceIf financial fear or anxiety is stealing your peace this season, consider our 21-day devotional, Look At the Sparrows. When things are not moving in a way you wanted/ planned, it is a huge opportunity to sit down with those plans. It is an amazing time to embrace your feelings and yet receive the message from the Universe because there is a sign in the stillness and we all need to receive that in order to shift our lives in a way we want. Sometimes it is not working hard, running from one place to another, but slowing down and really understanding what life means for you. My challenge to you after finishing this episode is, go ahead and sit down with yourself. Take time with you more than ever with no phone, no computer, no one with you; JUST YOU & your soul. Then, start listening to your soul, listen to the Universe, God… Share this episode with your friends who you think need to hear it. Thank you for leaving me a review. :)

I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God. I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance. I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God's power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God's right hand in the heavenly realms. Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this world but also in the world to come. God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church. And the church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself.'  Ephesians 3:14-21 NLT 'When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God's love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. LIT VERSE: Ezekiel 36:26-31 26 Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in my statutes and you will be careful to observe my ordinances. 28 And you will live in the land that I gave to your forefathers; so you will be My people, and I will be your God. 29 Moreover, I will save you from all your uncleanness; and I will call for the grain and multiply it, and I will not bring a famine on you. 30 I will multiply the fruit of the tree and the produce of the field, that you may not receive again the disgrace of famine amongst the nations. 31 Then you will remember your evil ways and your deeds that were not good, and you will loathe yourselves in your own sight for your failures and shortcomings. THOUGHT BREAKDOWN: (Keep the Text in the Context) BUT… you will have a new heart and spirit, and His Spirit will be inside you!! WOW! The New Heart and New Spirit Promises are INCREDIBLE! The verses that surround them are too! You can't just claim the promise without taking a sober look at what's being said in its entirety. Here's the context. God is saying to Israel, His chosen nation, “you guys have blown it.” By the way, like Israel, you are God's chosen too, and you have also blown it. That's how you can easily apply this text to your life as long as you keep it in context. Here's a paraphrased version of what God is saying to Israel in the surrounding passages. “You have been selfish and sought your own ways and wants over following me. Because of that I have humbled you and scattered you. I've driven you from the good land I had for you. Now, people are talking about you and won't shut their mouths. But don't worry I am going to rescue you. I am going to give you a new heart and spirit, I am going to make you feel again, and bring you back into the good land. I am going to bless you and allow you to thrive. BUT. It's not because you are cool or great. It's because I want the world to see that I love you and have chosen you. So don't get too big for your britches as they say and think it's because you are so wonderful and do everything right. It's not. It's because I love you and that's it.” Most of us don't need a lot of help knowing that we miss the mark. Again, I'm saying most of us. Some people really do think pretty highly of themselves. That's just not most common. What's most common is that we know that we could be better, we know that we fall short in many ways. Ok, so what's the point? Even though you miss the mark, God's goodness is within reach. Even though you could do better, God's favor is within reach. Even though you don't try that hard, God's blessing is within reach. For those of you who think yourselves pretty highly and consider yourself the center of the universe I pray you get knocked off your high horse and come down to reality. In and of yourself, you are not that cool, special, or unique. However, when you live into your created purpose and do so in a humble way, not thinking more highly of yourself than you should, you have access to great amounts of divine power, love and energy. For the humbled you, God's goodness is within reach. The New Heart and New Spirit are within reach of all. The broken and humble, the arrogant and ignorant, all have the same opportunity. Admit our need and receive His free gift of newness. WHAT IS THE SPIRIT SAYING? Son, encourage the people with this word and stand on these promises. A new heart and a new spirit are right before you. The opportunity is now, it's at hand, it's within reach. I will put My Spirit with you. The Spirit that formed the world and knows all. I will multiply the goodness around . But don't act like it's because you are so great and you deserve it. You don't. I am doing this to reverse the curse on your life. I am doing this so that all will see that I love you and people will shut their mouths and see that my goodness is irrevocable. WHAT WILL I DO ABOUT IT? Today, I will share this word with people. I AM GRATEFUL FOR… for mercy, grace, undeserved favor, a new heart, a new spirit, and your Spirit living in me and in our midst. I pray we never take your kindness or goodness for granted and live into our calling with humility and wisdom. TRACKER QUESTIONS Be honest. Do you think highly or lowly of yourself? Why? Do you see a need for God's mercy in your life? Do you believe newness is within reach or do you doubt it's true? What are you going to do differently because of what you've just heard? 1. Elisha’s rejection of Naaman’s treasures and Gehazi’s subsequent punishment serve to illustrate the principle that you can never buy the grace of God. Do you ever feel like you need to earn your status with God? When do you tend to feel that way?2. When Naaman brought earth from Israel back to Syria, the God of Israel invaded a land of idols and false gods. Where do you find yourself “compartmentalizing” God out of certain areas of your life? To use an analogy, if your life were a house, what “room” are you keeping Jesus out of? a. What’s one practical thing you can do to begin breaking down these walls of compartmentalization?3. Naaman, when asking forgiveness for his actions in the temple of Rimmon, carefully considered the implications of God’s lordship over every area of his life. Is there anything in your life that warrants deeper consideration? For example, is there any area of doubt in your life? Is there anything in which you’re uncertain if your actions or decisions are pleasing to God? Share and pray for one another for God’s wisdom to live in a manner that is pleasing to God.

But,” he said, “you cannot see my face, for man shall not see me and live.” And the Lord said, “Behold, there is a place by me where you shall stand on the rock, and while my glory passes by I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and I will cover you with my hand until I have passed by. “Dear Lord, your word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. We take this journey together, down the Romans Road, knowing the destination is You. In Jesus Name, Amen” Paul is going to first address this question to the person who did not grow up in a religious home. (1:18-20)Paul is saying that even though we can’t see God, evidence of his existence is so clear in creation alone that all people are without excuse. Arguments for the existence of God, apart from the Bible:Creation – (Cosmological) The world around us is an “effect” that requires an adequate “cause”. The “uncaused cause.” Nature cannot originate itself. For something to create itself, it must exist and not exist at the same time. Organization – (Teleological) The purpose, order and design we observe in the world calls for a designer. Man – (Anthropological) It is one thing to create a living organism, but we possess intellect, emotions, a self-awareness, the ability to create and a sense of right and wrong. Evolution apart of God could not have produced a soul, the spirit. It is more logical and takes less faith to conclude God did this than chance. Being – (Ontological) The fact that we have an idea of a most perfect being proves that he exists. If the existence of God is so clear, why do so many people deny his existence? Paul said it is not a matter of evidence but a spiritual matter of the soul. We suppress the truth because we don’t, in our sinful nature, like to submit to anyone, but live life like we see it – we want to do it our way. (1:24-32) God Suppressants Three Decisions:I acknowledge that God exist, and I am not him. Yes No (circle one) Because he exists, I must submit my life to him whether he is good or not. Yes No (circle one) I pray he is a good God. Yes No (circle one) Going Deeper: Which of the four arguments for the existence of God makes the most amount of sense to you? Is there something else, apart from the Bible, that confirms for you there is a God? What do you think about “gossip” and “slander” being in the same list of God suppressants as homosexual acts and murder? How does engaging in these activities suppress the truth about God? Share your answer of the three decisions with your group.

Frederic Gray is a national speaker, author, and the founder of the Fathers of Faith and Daughters of Excellence Retreat in Tampa, Florida. He’s a husband and a father of five (5) (2 boys, 3 girls, from ages 12 to 1) with one more on the way, and he’s passionate about teaching fathers how to win the hearts of their children. He’s also the author of “How to Win Your Children’s Heart Using God’s Word.” To connect with Frederic Gray, you can visit his websites at either: http://www.FredericGray.com or http://wwww.FatherDaughterRetreat.com or http://www.RealMenUniversity.com  Here are the steps Frederic outlined for us: When to spank: When they clearly understand the rules they broke and your expectations of them. Make sure they understand that the most important thing to do is obey God. Find a private place to spank them. Speak super gentle to them and without anger. Have them tell you what they were supposed to do, but didn't. Ask them: "Did you obey Daddy?" Ask them: "Did you obey God?" Share a verse from the Bible on discipline (Ex. Prov. 13:24). Ask them: "What is God telling me to do?" (child: to spank me) Ask them: "If I don't spank you, am I obeying God?" Tell them: "I want to obey God, because I love you and I love God." Ask them (again):"Do you know why I'm going to give you a spanking?" Pray with them BEFORE you spank them (while holding them close). Use the rod/paddle (NOT your hand) when spanking your child. Hit them only on the bottom (let it hurt, but don't damage them). Lay with them afterwards to comfort them and affirm them. ---------------   If you want to help us transform the lives of even MORE MEN for God’s glory, please take a minute to leave us a helpful REVIEW on iTunes: http://tinyurl.com/rmcpodcast and SHARE this podcast with any young man (or men) you’re mentoring or discipling. Verse 1 God has begun His work across the universe; people there awaken and move all around His work. When God “travels” within them, they break from Satan's bonds, from bonds of great affliction, they're free forever now. Verse 2 When God's day arrives, the people all are happy, the sorrows in their hearts are now forever gone. Clouds of sadness vanish, fresh air freely floats. Together, God and man's timeless joy abounds. Chorus When all people praise God, He is exalted in all things. The sky turns a bright blue, flowers bloom, the grass more green. All things on the earth become so beautiful. Verse 3 Man's actions give God something to savor, this way God does not feel aggrieved any longer. With God's day coming, life on earth regains root of existence. Verse 4 All things on earth come alive again, taking God as the source of their existence. For He causes things to shine forth with life, and so, too, does God cause them to silently disappear. Chorus When all people praise God, He is exalted in all things. The sky turns a bright blue, flowers bloom, the grass more green. All things on the earth become so beautiful. Verse 5 All things await commands spoken by God's mouth, and all are pleased with what He says and does. He is the Most High, yet He also lives with man. Their deeds manifest God's creation of the earth and heaven above. Chorus When all people praise God, He is exalted in all things. The sky turns a bright blue, flowers bloom, the grass more green. All things on the earth become so beautiful. Bridge By His voice, man runs around. The people in His kingdom are filled with joy, their lives grow. God does work among the chosen, His work can't be tainted with notions of mankind, for God is doing His own work. Verse 6 When God does His work, everything is renewed and changed. When God's work is finished, man is restored, no more distressed by what God asks. The land is blessed with joy! Chorus When all people praise God, He is exalted in all things. The sky turns a bright blue, flowers bloom, the grass more green. All things on the earth become so beautiful. Outro When the land is filled with joy, God will take this time to bless all humankind. from The Word Appears in the Flesh

Read Hosea 4 What are the open fields that draw you away from God? How has TV, Movies, social media, blogs tempted you toward open fields?  How have these open fields enslaved you? Have you ever been the guilty of acting like a stubborn heifer? Israel finds themselves called this because they lack understating about who God is. Where do you need to grow in your understanding of God? The highest freedom is only attainable within definite limits. Explain in your own words what this truth means in your life. Share a time that you thought you were getting more freedom that turned into slavery? Each day believers have a choice to glorify God or not glorify God with their life. God doesn’t make us glorify him he will allow us to wander away however he always continues to watch over us. How does this shape your response to God? Share a time you wandered off and how you God received you back.
