Intersection of multiple influential elements - Jet Set Radio introduced a generation of gamers to new styles of music and art, a legacy still felt today. It gave us an alternative to the forever war narrative of most games, a world where violence and greed is defeated by art. It’s hopeful, a model for utopian praxis. Despite its flaws, JSR had a vision. This vision affected countless artists, musicians, and game designers.Even if you’ve never heard of this game or the Dreamcast, this soundtrack is worth listening to. It’s an eclectic album but everything fits together to create a union of funk, rock, house, techno and hip hop you can nod your head to. It stands on its own. We will probably never get another Jet Set Radio game but that’s fine. This represents the best spirit of its era and it still slaps today.Albums Discussed------------------Jet Set Radio SoundtrackJet Set Radio Future SoundtrackMemories Of Tokyo-To: An Ode To Jet Set Radio by 2 MelloRelated Links-------------So I've Finally Played... We hit a lot of familiar territory on this week's show but also explore caverns with therapeutic hot mineral springs, contemplate the many options of the world map, and seek to achieve the art of balance in our everyday lives. If you tap an armadillo on the top of their shell, they will pop right into the air. I'm not suggesting you go around scaring armadillos but it's a fascinating sight. You guys had the choice for Episode 100, so Episode 50 of Season 2 goes to Viper, and this time he also picks a composer, one of his favourites in-fact. Industry legend Hideki Naganuma is on the chopping block tonight, as are many of his great soundtracks including Jet Set Radio Future, Sonic Rush, Super Monkey Ball 3D, Black Panther: New Yakuza Chronicles and many more! If you're a fan of the man, you'll want to tune in to hear the random trivia and chronological history of his work. If you're not a fan, isn't now the time to jump in?

Emily and Lily invite you to join them on a pre-recorded adventure through trans culture, fashion, games, and more! We felt it only natural to talk about Hideki, given how much we've hyped him up. After all, there ain't nothin' like a funky beat. Track List: Jet Set Radio - "Let Mom Sleep" Sonic Rush - "A New Day" Air Gear - "Sky 2 High" Beatmania IIDX - "Luv Can Save U" Lethal League Blaze - "Ain't Nothin' Like A Funky Beat" All songs belong to their respective purposes and have been featured here for educational purposes. If there's one game franchise that truly inspires with its music, it's Jet Set Radio. David welcomes back music artist 2 Mello to discuss the music from Sega's popular series, and how it prompted him to make his own original album in the same vein. This conversation also doubles as a musical journey of the Jet Set Radio franchise and Mello's own album Memories of Tokyo-To: An Ode to Jet Set Radio. Join us as we admire the work of composer Hideki Naganuma, and what Mello's experience with the man has been like so far. Also be sure to check out 2 Mello on ARGcast #68 where he talked about his Streets of Rage mashup album, and listen to his other music including the soundtrack to Read Only Memories and the smash hit mashup Chrono Jigga. The Topical Resort gets a bit funkier this week, as we take a look into the Jet Set Radio series, as well as some games that are sort of Jet Set Radio, except they aren't, but we classed them anyway!
Bumping some hard hitting remixes and game soundtracks for this all instrumental episode! I also take a minute for Donkey Kong Country and the music of Hideki Naganuma. Got the latest remixes of classics like DKC and Super Mario 64, along with the latest Pokemon and new Hideki Naganuma music from Hover: Revolt of Gamers!
DreamPod 51 is here and your regular hosts Tom, Rob and Ross get together to discuss all the important issues from that thing known as the internet. Rob joins us live from the decadence of the Future Publishing offices while sipping champagne from a diamond-encrusted unicorn horn, and Ross has been sipping the finest Japanese whiskey that bitcoins can buy. Meanwhile, Tom's been on the cheapest gut-rot lemonade he could find in the local corner shop. But we won't that gulf in opulence perturb us, as we delve into the recent news about SEGA Forever, Hover: Revolt of Gamers (the new JSR-inspired game with music from Hideki Naganuma), the Shenmue III delay, the finer points of the Akura HDMI adapter, a new Dreamcast-themed t-shirt from underground clothing label Damascus and also the discovery of new playable characters in Cosmic Smash! This is episode 51 of the world's greatest Dreamcast podcast called DreamPod and we hope you enjoy it!Support the show (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/dcjunkyard)
This week I deem Shaq Fu not sucky enough, bump classic Froskees, get a little worked up about Final Fantasy VII. After some more new tunes from Okumura and the man, Hideki Naganuma, I gush over the beauty of Jet Set Radio Future.
Eletrika #10 - Hideki Naganuma Tribute
It's Valentine's weekend, and Jordan's lugged his desktop in again, and after mounting his monitors, he didn't feel like bringing his with him. This week's show wasn't shortened due to starting late, as Jordan continued shenanigans after David left again. Technical difficulties of course continue. Listen for: PROTO·DOME, Jun Senoue & Takeshi Taneda, YTCracker, MC Ohm-I, Hideki Naganuma, Lemon Demon, MC Lars, Mikal kHill, Dual Core, Crush 40, and more!
The show actually had ~10 minutes of content before this, but we forgot to start the recording. Other technical difficulties also occured, per usual. Listen for: PROTO·DOME, 8-bit Boys, MC Frontalot, Hideki Naganuma, YTCracker, Skelux Core, and more! Lost tracks: PROTO·DOME - Interstellar Goodtimes, and some others I forgot
Matt is in America! Kanye's business plan includes IKEA, the Bela promises an affordable open source platform for low latency audio, and a new contest by Adam Levine follows the awful tradition of trying to squeeze free work out of artists. Picks of the week from Dinosaur Jr. and Hideki Naganuma!
