Imagine buying an old farmhouse to launch your dream business, only to find it's teeming with visitors who aren't your typical customers. One listener recounts how their early 1800s property quickly turned into a “spiritual train station” once renovations ramped up and people began frequenting the grounds. From a Civil War–era man in a military uniform who disappeared mid-encounter to a curious child spirit wandering the hallways, the paranormal activity didn't stay put – it followed them all the way home. This episode is a packed and punny one… A real flying car takes flight – according to a California aeronautical company that released footage of the “high-way” drive. The two NASA astronauts stuck in space for nine months splash back down to Earth. A quarter of the world celebrates the Islamic Eid festival – we have the lowdown on the festivities. We also have a special report on the marvels of 3D printing in Japan where a train station can be “printed” and then constructed in just six hours! And the US President is walking on eggshells over the high price of eggs and a certain European country he needed a favor from… All that and more this episode!
Text Our Show HostsTonight, on this episode, we'll talk about the Movie and TV Series "Homestead" (No Worries... No Spoilers) and the other side of Prepper Groups. The side no one ever wants to talk about, let alone think about. Because it's uncomfortable. And that would be, the Impossible Choices and Heartbreaking Decisions that we'll all have to face, while being a part of a Prepper Group during a prolonged Grid-Down, No Rule Of Law, SHTF situation.Deciding who to let in or who to keep out. These decisions are absolutely critical to the overall survival of its members. Or, what if one of the members has to be kicked out, expelled, or banished… or worse… taken down to the Dutton's Train Station. Most of us, are not mentally equipped to deal with these types of challenging decisions and impossible choices. Am I…? Are You…? Listener Tadd Williams often sees the 16th Street Station from I-880. It's a huge, stately building in the Beaux-Arts style. It's looking a little rundown now, but it was clearly once dazzling. In today's episode, we explore how this spot was important to West Oakland's Black community and the Civil Rights Movement. And we get a promising update on it's future. It's claimed improvements in personal behaviour will be the driving force in stamping out littering in Ennis. The county town has fallen eight places in the latest Irish Business Against Litter rankings, which have just been published, with An Taisce's report determining the county town is no longer cleaner than European Norms. Ten sites in Ennis were assessed as part of the judging process. Half received an ‘A' Grade, beginning with the Westfield Housing Estate, where inspectors commended house-proud beautiful flower arrangements and a complete absence of litter. The dualcarriageway from Skehanagh Roundabout to Clare Abbey Roundabout was also recognised for its cleanliness, along with the approach road from the Kilrush Roundabout and the stretch from Rocky Road Roundabout to Kilrush Road Roundabout, which was described as a "very good impression, with a striking sculpture." Cathedral Court rounded off the top tier ratings for its "well maintained residential site." Merchants Square, O'Connell Street and Ennis Bus and Train Station each earned a B+ rating, with small amounts of litter noted in all. Notably, judges described the public realm enhancements as "looking fantastic" and the station to be "much improved from its condition two years ago." Issues with alcohol related litter in the grass and hedges were flagged at Kilrush Road Car Park, which received a B Grade. The worst performing area in Ennis, meanwhile, was Dunnes Stores, where the surface area car park and store entrance, gave "the overall impression of a littered environment." Most items were food related, along with significant quantities of receipts, with accumulations in trolley bays, grass verges and hedges. IBAL Spokesperson Conor Horgan says the issues in Ennis are not major and require improvements in personal habits. Ultimately Ennis was judged to be ‘clean to European Norms' and finished 13th overall in the Irish Business Against Litter League for 2024; falling eight places on its position from six months ago. Between March and September, Ennis Tidy Towns had a record number of volunteers collected an average of 20 bags of rubbish every night. Ennis Tidy Towns member and Fine Gael Councillor Mary Howard says given their efforts, the result is disappointing, but believes there are simple initiatives that can change the tide. Overall, Naas retained top spot and was one of 13 towns cleaner than European Norms. Limerick City and Galway's Inner-City were both judged to be littered, while Dublin's North Inner City was the only ‘seriously littered' area nationwide.

For the past month, an anti-corruption movement has been gaining traction in Serbia. It follows a tragic event: the collapse of the newly renovated Novi Sad train station on November 2, causing 15 deaths and two serious injuries. The accident has triggered a large protest movement that's worrying those close to President Aleksandar Vucic, who has been accused of authoritarian tendencies for several years. Our correspondent reports.

November 9 marks the 35th anniversary of the fall of the Wall. We're accompanying the date this year with a podcast series that will be out soon. We spoke to many eyewitnesses for the project. One of them is software developer Mathias Burbach. He lives in Sydney and accompanied and witnessed the fall of the Wall and the period before that as part of the Red Cross. The eyewitness was on site with a team at the embassy in Prague in the last days before the fall of the Wall and looked after the GDR refugees who were staying there. - Am 9. In this second episode of our Back to School series, I'm diving into a topic that's incredibly important for us as school counselors—how to make sure the vital work we do doesn't go unnoticed. Too often, despite the significant impact we have, our efforts can go unseen by those around us. In this episode, I emphasize the importance of:Advocating for Our Role: Ensuring that the value of our work is communicated so it doesn't get overlooked.Sharing Successes: Highlighting the progress of our students with colleagues and administrators to build awareness and appreciation for the counseling role.Collaboration is Key: Being seen as integral members of the school team by actively participating in and contributing to the broader educational environment.Impactful Interventions: Recognizing the power of empathy and understanding in counseling.Building a Supportive Environment: Advocating for ourselves to help create a school culture where our contributions are respected and supported.Join me as we explore how to ensure our work is visible, valued, and celebrated as we head into what I hope will be our best school year yet!Mentioned in this episode:Perks Membership

Active Self Protection exists to help good, sane, sober, moral, prudent people in all walks of life to more effectively protect themselves and their loved ones from criminal violence. On the ASP Podcast you will hear the true stories of life or death self defense encounters from the men and women that lived them. This week, we’re examining the ways cities are adapting to the future of how we live and work. Some of these changes were sped up by the pandemic, but some are a long-time coming — like evolving tech in the auto industry. In Detroit, an abandoned train station has been brought back to life by the Ford Motor Company as a center for tech innovation. Will the investment pay off? But first: automakers and deep sea mining.
