MEET THE AUTHOR Podcast LIVE - Episode 155 - MAGNOLIA BLUFF CRIME CHRONICLES 2024 Reveal Part 2Originally Streamed LIVE Wednesday May 8,2024 Featuring Underground Authors April Nunn Coker and Joe Congel.ABOUT APRIL: I love words. Mostly written words. I love to write them and read them. A good book is a treasure. I have loved to read from the time I learned to recognize words, and as long as I can remember, I have loved to write. After I discovered Harriett the Spy by Louise Fitzhugh in my elementary school library, I determined to follow Harriett's lead and observe the world around me, without spying, of course! That is when I began putting words on paper and creating worlds and characters and events from my imagination. Soon I was sharing stories with my friends and teachers. I received good grades on writing assignments and later became editor of my high school newspaper. I wanted to be a writer. God had other plans for me. I taught high school English and science for 30 years first. Then I became a published author. Life is full.ABOUT JOE: Joe Congel grew up in Syracuse, NY, and currently lives in beautiful Charlotte, NC. He got his first break in the world of publishing when he illustrated the humorous book, Housetraining Your VCR, A Help Manual for Humans, published by Grapevine Publications back in the early '90s. A few years after Housetraining set the world on fire, Joe decided that he was better suited as a writer rather than as an artist, so he began crafting stories that allowed the reader to use their own imagination to add the visuals to the narrative. Since he's enjoyed reading murder mysteries and PI detective stories all his life, he felt he had a pretty good grasp on how to create an engaging character in the world of private detecting. DEAD IS FOREVER is the first book in the Razzman Mystery Crime Files series, featuring Tony Razzolito, PI. The book is set in Syracuse, NY, and Charlotte, NC, with upcoming books in the series concentrated more in and around the Charlotte area. Joe is uniquely qualified to write about both areas of the country since he lived in Syracuse for 36 years and Charlotte for the last 25 plus years. When he's not writing, you will most likely find him spoiling his three grandchildren.Watch or listen to all episodes at www.IndieBookSource.com/podcast

Will we ever have a Speaker of the House of Representatives? Do we need to start training people to fill this immediate job opening?
Cafe standards are often a jumble of various people's ideas sourced from both far flung areas of the industry and the past habits of new staff. We are in a constant cycle of sending people away to outside places to learn what to do within our own walls. The problem with this is that we are constantly dependent on outside input but never truly using resources to build our own systems and standards that bring clarity and stability to the shop. On today's shift break we will be talking about why you need to focus on and prioritize developing in house quality control and training standards vs perpetually outsourcing these things to your roaster, a consultant, or a certifying body. MEET THE AUTHOR Podcast: LIVE - Episode 106 - JOE CONGELOriginally Aired Wednesday April 26,2023 Featuring Mystery/PI Detective Author JOE CONGEL.ABOUT JOE: Joe Congel grew up in Syracuse, NY and currently lives in beautiful Charlotte, NC. He got his first break in the world of publishing when he illustrated the humorous book, Housetraining Your VCR, A Help Manual for Humans, published by Grapevine Publications back in the early 90's.A few years after Housetraining set the world on fire, Joe decided that he was better suited as a writer rather than as an artist, so he began by crafting short stories that allowed the reader to use their own imagination to add the visuals to the narrative. He figured that if a picture was worth a thousand words, he'd rather write the thousand words. Since he's enjoyed reading murder mysteries and PI detective stories all his life, he felt he had a pretty good grasp on how to create an engaging character in the world of private detecting. The Razzman Files – Tony Razzolito PI series is the result of that creative effort. The series is set in Syracuse, NY and Charlotte, NC, with future books in the series focused more in and around the Charlotte area. Joe is uniquely qualified to write about both areas of the country since he lived in Syracuse for 36 years and has lived in Charlotte for the last 23 plus years. As much as Joe loves figuring out how to create and solve crimes of murder in his PI Detective series, he is equally passionate about writing short stories. The shift in style between plotting out a full novel versus the tighter plot points needed to develop a good short story helps keep Joe thinking outside the box. When Joe is not writing he can be found spoiling his grandkids.Links to watch or listen to all episodes at:https://indiebooksource.com/podcast
Fostering adolescent and adult dogs can be challenging. In this episode, I break down the goals and introduce the 7 step fostering program I have applied with hundreds of dogs and taught to dozens of fosters. Programs for pet parents are different than those of fostering - Why? Because the goal is different! Fostering is not about BEING the best home or addressing behavioral issues that are specific to the foster home, but rather, taking the steps to ensure a successful adoption into the best home for the dog. I use the example of a recent foster couple I helped with their challenging dog. Their goal to address behavioral issues specific to their home life complicated the process of providing the dog with the necessary skills to be happily homed. The UPWARD Dogology 7 step program keeps the goals in the forefront and the success rate high. In this episode, I review these steps, discussing why they are important, and how they eliminate the need for lengthy fostering periods and allow for an easy integration into their new home.
