MURDERS IN THE FIRST DEGREEMEET THE AUTHOR Podcast: LIVE - Episode 182Originally aired LIVE Wednesday November 13 ,2024Featuring Authors JAMES CALLAN, KELLY MARSHALL & JINX SCHWARTZ.ABOUT JAMES: James R. Callan took a degree in English intent on writing. But when writing did not support a family, he returned to graduate school in mathematics. After graduate school, he worked at a research center for twelve years before he and his wife started a database company, which they ran for twenty-five years. After a successful career in mathematics and computer science, receiving grants from the National Science Foundation and NASA, and being listed in Who's Who in Computer Science and Two Thousand Notable Americans, (and all four of his kids graduated from college and self-supporting), James R. Callan turned to his first love—writing.ABOUT KELLY: I always thought I would communicate in the world as a writer. As a child I was a voracious reader and knew someday I would pen a great novel. Life sometimes takes left turns though, and I went to broadcasting school instead of a four-year college. I wanted to be the next Barbara Walters and make a million a year. That didn't happen, but I did spend thirty years having fun, spinning records, interviewing people, doing love song dedications. I had a ball until…The U.S. Congress passed The Telecommunications Act of 1996 allowing broadcast corporations to own multiple radio stations in one market. The gobbling began and soon behemoth broadcasting corporations ate up radio stations like locusts in a wheat field. And radio announcers like me were axed on bloody Fridays with surgical precision. I was working for a small radio station for chump change. Something had to give. I left radio, went to work for the US Federal Government, and in my private hours, began doing what I really loved. Joseph was born in Melrose, MA, and currently lives in Nashua, New Hampshire with his wife, Susan, and their four-legged child, Boo. Blah blah blah... Personally, I think I'm rather boring and dull. I figured that wouldn't make good copy so I asked a bunch of friends how they'd describe me. Everybody said I was "intriguing". That's a nice double-edged word, don't you think? Kind of like something you want to stare at from a distance or with a good, solid, thick piece of steel reinforced glass between you and whatever you're looking at. Me, if I think something's intriguing, I want to know more about it but I don't want to get too close while getting to know more about it. MEET THE AUTHOR Podcast LIVE - Episode 155 - MAGNOLIA BLUFF CRIME CHRONICLES 2024 Reveal Part 2Originally Streamed LIVE Wednesday May 8,2024 Featuring Underground Authors April Nunn Coker and Joe Congel.ABOUT APRIL: I love words. Mostly written words. I love to write them and read them. A good book is a treasure. I have loved to read from the time I learned to recognize words, and as long as I can remember, I have loved to write. After I discovered Harriett the Spy by Louise Fitzhugh in my elementary school library, I determined to follow Harriett's lead and observe the world around me, without spying, of course! That is when I began putting words on paper and creating worlds and characters and events from my imagination. Soon I was sharing stories with my friends and teachers. I received good grades on writing assignments and later became editor of my high school newspaper. I wanted to be a writer. God had other plans for me. I taught high school English and science for 30 years first. Then I became a published author. Life is full.ABOUT JOE: Joe Congel grew up in Syracuse, NY, and currently lives in beautiful Charlotte, NC. He got his first break in the world of publishing when he illustrated the humorous book, Housetraining Your VCR, A Help Manual for Humans, published by Grapevine Publications back in the early '90s. A few years after Housetraining set the world on fire, Joe decided that he was better suited as a writer rather than as an artist, so he began crafting stories that allowed the reader to use their own imagination to add the visuals to the narrative. Since he's enjoyed reading murder mysteries and PI detective stories all his life, he felt he had a pretty good grasp on how to create an engaging character in the world of private detecting. DEAD IS FOREVER is the first book in the Razzman Mystery Crime Files series, featuring Tony Razzolito, PI. The book is set in Syracuse, NY, and Charlotte, NC, with upcoming books in the series concentrated more in and around the Charlotte area. Joe is uniquely qualified to write about both areas of the country since he lived in Syracuse for 36 years and Charlotte for the last 25 plus years. When he's not writing, you will most likely find him spoiling his three grandchildren.Watch or listen to all episodes at www.IndieBookSource.com/podcast

MAGIC & UNICORNS on MEET THE AUTHOR Podcast: LIVE - Episode 150 - CHERYL CARPINELLOOriginally Aired Wednesday April 3,2024Featuring Fantasy Author CHERYL CARPINELLO.ABOUT CHERYL: I'm a lover of mythology, myths, legends, and tales from the ancient/medieval worlds, and how all of these have transcended time and space into our world today. The myths and legends don't fade away. They are just repackaged for a new audience. One of my favorites, Star Wars, borrows several concepts from the Legend of King Arthur. The Star Trek series goes even further back into the mythology of ancient Greece, Rome, and Egypt as well as others. I write Arthurian Legend for young readers and teens (I never refuse to let mature readers enjoy my stories!). These stories exhibit what I consider to be cornerstones of that Legend: Honor, Loyalty, and Friendship. My tales from Egypt and my new series Feathers of the Phoenix meld the ancient/medieval worlds with today. The Atlantean Horse (Book 1 of Feathers of the Phoenix) also brings forth the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse out of the Bible and into the modern world. They and my main characters are after the feathers of the Phoenix in order to bring Atlantis alive again.Links to watch or listen to all episodes at:https://indiebooksource.com/podcast

STORY TELLING AT ITS BEST.MEET THE AUTHOR Podcast: LIVE - Episode 147 - SEAN O'NEILOriginally Streamed LIVE Wednesday March 13,2024Featuring Author/filmmaker SEAN O'NEILWho hasn't had dreams about becoming a writer? The image of great writers and of their success is compelling. Their freedom in life appeals to many people and it certainly appealed to me.I did not come to this place naturally in life. I'm an MBA Grad and former CEO who left the executive world behind to ultimately opt for a life of adventure and writing. I've spent the last twenty-plus years journeying the world and finding human stories that spark my own stories. I look beyond the standard sites and tourist traps; I look for the human side that is often hidden behind them and the stories that others simply don't find. I was gifted with the ability to connect with people, regardless of background. I hold friendships from the Philippines to India and the Middle East to Central America. I have worked and lived on four continents and wherever I have been, I've found the path less traveled.I write from the heart and soul. I'm a natural storyteller. I do this because I want others to find the same joy in reading as I did when I was young. In my youth, my first book was Lord of the Rings, a gift from my father. From the day I picked that book up, I never stopped reading. I had always hoped that one day I could inspire someone to feel the same way about reading as I did then.Watch or listen to all episodes at www.IndieBookSource.com
