In a recording from 1983, Mr Eddie Fairfield (1902-1994) tells a number of stories about his conversion, baptism, service and call to the mission field of Venezuela. In the group photograph, taken in Venezuela in 1957, Mr Fairfield is 4th from the left on the row of seated men. 5th from the left is William Williams, author of “It Can Be Done”, a book relating the spread of the gospel in Venezuela in the early 20th Century. In our mid-40s, we knew we'd be some of the older competitors on The Amazing Race - a famously grueling show in which teams of two travel the globe conquering physical (and sometimes mental and emotional) challenges. We wanted to be as ready as possible and in the next few weeks we're going to be sharing some of our favorite workouts that can be done in a gym or at home. Even if you aren't training for a grueling reality competition, these movements will help you feel more equipped to handle the challenges of everyday life. We interviewed Taylor Pope, DPT, FDNP, Owner of Chain Effect on this week's podcast to launch this blog series and here's the headline: YOU CAN GET STRONGER AS YOU AGE. Statistically, yes, we're at a disadvantage to gain strength and improve athletic performance with every time we circle the sun but IT CAN BE DONE. The team at Chain Effect crafted workouts that helped us get ready for every situation the Race threw at us. And now Chain Effect is sharing these workouts with you! Tell us what you like, ask a question, or just say hi. Call 323-364-3929. Your support means the world to us. If you like this podcast please consider leaving us a review. We also love feedback. They published "Christmas Jammies" in December 2013 and life hasn't been the same. Since then, their popular parodies, "All About That Baste", "Baby Got Class," and original music "Snow Day" have received national news coverage. Penn, the Dad, took a chance and left his job as a news anchor to join his wife Kim, the Mom, at their video production and digital marketing company, Greenroom Communications, LLC. Lola and Penn Charles are always happy, respectful and eat all of their vegetables (that last sentence is a lie). Do you recognize the repeated patterns you've created in your life? Those patterns are a glimpse into the automations going on in your mind. You can't ignore the patterns in your personal life and expect them not to spill over into your business life. If you are a coach, a mentor, a service provider, or anyone working to help get others from point A to B, pattern recognition needs to be a key part of your work for your clients and yourself. You CAN'T outperform your subconscious. Where your PATTERNS are, so will YOU BE. So how can you recognize your patterns and transform them into powerhouse habits that will propel your business? In this week's episode of the Epic Success Podcast, we'll talk about recognizing the patterns controlling your business results. Dr. Shannon Irvine will share her biggest mistake that ALMOST took her out and how you can avoid making the same mistake. The biggest take-aways from today's episode are: How to recognize the repeated patterns in your life. Patterns are thoughts and actions you have repeated so often that your mind sees them as a belief and categorizes them into the place in your brain that facilitates automation. You don't even have to think about doing it anymore. Isn't it amazing that your brain creates habits and patterns to help make your life easier? I'll walk you through how to recognize patterns in your life that are serving you and how to change those that aren't. How to initiate pattern interrupt. Once you identify the patterns that no longer serve you, it is time to change them. While that may seem like a daunting task, IT CAN BE DONE, and I will show you how! How to micro-stalk your patterns to create positive automations. Focus on one pattern at a time and make a conscious decision to change it. It only takes repeating an action 67 times for it to become automated. Be intentional in your daily actions. Set an alarm, write it in your planner – whatever you need to do to interrupt that negative pattern – and replace it with a positive new one. Listen to the whole episode now to learn how to recognize the patterns controlling your business results and avoid making the same mistake that ALMOST took Dr. Shannon Irvine out. There is nothing like a #dailyPSA to boost your mood, trajectory of the day and the way in which your day navigates. I love the art of the UNfuck and if you know anything about me or why I am showing up for you, its to help myself get UNstuck in different ways with the hopes of being the lighthouse for you along the way. So, tada babes, welcome to the unfuckery chronicles, a permanent place for you to always come back to and your new inspirational place helping you get unstuck but on the daily. why the 'unfuck' you ask? I feel like we are always conditioned to say, do and act exactly how everyone else wants us to while we sit in silence in complete disarray of how we actually feel, so this is my journey to teach you and myself to always work outside of the zone of comfort and stop giving a fuck about what anyone else thinks. In this episode, we are diving in: why giving a fuck matters why it doesn't (aka the zero fucks movement) working on the unfucking yourself, blasting through the roadblocks to becoming your best self how to adequately motivate yourself in the midst of the unfuckery sometimes, when it comes to 'giving a fuck', you definitely should if it enriches and encourages you. If it otherwise jeopardizes your well being, that is when you keep the zero fucks. I am finished with fucking myself over so much in a manner to where I and not giving myself the ample opportunity to succeed. Its time to show yourself and others that IT CAN BE DONE. so welcome to the unfuckery chronicles babes, I am jess your host. these will be featured pretty regularly on the new Patreon (still under construction) and on your new fav Youtube channel. now- the things I love that you should fucking buy segment: Hooray! Timestamps and especially RICH linkiness follow. 1:08 Last week's races ended our 33xpl tour season after 18 weeks of picks and analysis, covering 37 races on 15 tracks across 9 states of the U.S. We're proud and relieved to have completed it and hope you enjoyed it, too! 2:35 Weej recaps the Hill Prince (G2), 1 and 1/8 miles on turf for 3 year-olds. (When no sex is given, the race's entrants will almost always be mostly colts, and perhaps a smaller number of geldings. Fillies are technically allowed to run these races, which is why it just says 3yo, without any restriction by sex, but it's quite a rare horse and unusual occurrence when it happens.) 3:35 Weej's podcast hunches were better than her later bets. Finish order was WIN: Public Sector, PLACE: Never Surprised, SHOW: It Can Be Done, and in 4th: Hilliard. https://youtu.be/UVbNBuzI258 4:55 Trixie found watching the previous (G3) Saranac—link to video in last podcast—with the top two finishers was a good prediction of their running styles and their battle to win this race. https://youtu.be/EjLt4Yiu9I4 6:44 It Can Be Done was that long-shot Show bet Trixie enjoys. Where were Soldier Rising and War Bomber? 8:39 Horse 11 of 11, Original, actually beat Public Sector in July, fostering Weej's hopes for it. 11:13 The Breeders Cup draws are on Monday, so we'll analyze next week when we know the entrants, but we already know there is an exciting, unique Wagering Menu planned for these races on Friday, November 5th, and Saturday, November 6th, at the Del Mar racetrack in San Diego, California and simulcast EVERYWHERE race fans will be. https://www.breederscup.com/article/race-order-and-wagering-menu-announced-2021-breeders-cup-world-championships 11:48 Breeders Cup founded/promoted by John R. Agnes opes with a mini-rant on editing - thank you, Molly Shannon! Advertising - one of our soapboxes... but really? 50 cups of kale on your face? Real life... Agnes' alarm goes off... Mar Sulaika talks about art/ movies et al, after the death of Irrfan Khan. Topic seems to go from grrr to waah to blah and back to grrr. Residential care in the times of Covid (Mar Sulaika's experience) compared to Agnes' experience in the times of Noro - which means we're off to the races over the press, the role of the press, and the quality of the press. Agnes apologizes for not remembering it was the country of Nigeria who lost their children in April 2014. Quick turn to getting your "stuff"online - Sulaika asks Agnes, who has all the answers if only because she also writes the show notes... podcast production, blog posts, Hofstader's Law, all the moving parts in getting your stuff online - IT CAN BE DONE!!! Mar Sulaika's questions are great if you're a newbie because, like many experienced people, Agnes forgets that it's the questions that seem simplest that need the most clarification (post your questions in the comments at the website!) Finally, speaking of editing, Agnes gets to explain her power as editor and her definition of "flat-lining"!! Today's episode brings Grace and Zach's practical advice on handling a situation any couple may find themselves in at any time. After giving background on their situation and experience (2:45), Grace and Zach share tips and tricks on how to accommodate dietary needs in one's own home (8:05). They cover a variety of areas, including convenience, cost, attitude, and inspiration. As promised, access Grace's favorite gluten-free and dairy-free foods here. The foodies she mentions are Ashlynn Mitchell (@mamabear.fitness) and Danielle Walker (@daniellewalker).Next, the couple talks about how to approach people outside of the home—particularly extended family—on your dietary needs. (21:35) It's important to note that honoring your host's efforts to support you through vocal gratitude makes a huge difference. (23:25)Eating out with dietary restrictions requires the same process for a spouse as for someone single. (26:35) The spouse without restrictions is reminded that they are allowed to treat themselves to restaurants unfriendly to their partner's requirements. (28:25)Lastly, Grace reminds us to be aware of our mental and emotional relationship with food. (31:40) You don't need to eat a food just because it's in front of you. To wrap up the episode, our hosts then give us a little life update! (34:00) Zach could use contacts at Northrop Grumman in San Diego, and cute Jackie videos can be found on her mama's Instagram @gracewjensenTo help this podcast continue and grow, please follow it on Instagram @thenewlywedshow, comment, share with friends—anything helps. This was the second time we recorded extensively with Aslam Khan, the legendary franchisee known as "the turnaround King". His Rags to Riches story has inspired the franchise community for two decades now. His simple but powerful message shows us "It Can Be Done". Aslam is the Chairman of Falcon Holdings, one of the worlds largest franchisees, and now also a franchisor with a couple of recent acquisitions of Piccadilly and Fatz Cafe. One thing that struck me during this episode was Aslam's focus on giving back. He is literally building roads in his home country of Pakistan. Topics we delve into in this jam packed episode: *Aslam's background and story * What's new and current at Falcon Holdings, including new acquisitions * What is Falcon Management * How important is it for organizations to listen to Young talent? * How do you see the hospitality industry being shaped by technology? * Do you think mediocre single unit operators can be coached to become successful multi unit operators? * How do you respond to challenges? * The "Khan formula" for developing self confidence *The difference between independence and Interdependence Special thanks to our Sponsors: SCORPION INTERNET MARKETING www.Scorpion.co/mb Named the #1 franchise marketing company in America by Entrepreneur Magazine, Scorpion delivers all-in-one solutions for franchise brands looking to defeat disjointed marketing and increase revenue. The state of where men are at is pretty grim. +60% are overweight and the responsibilities are PILING UP: work your tail off at work, and yet you are expected to be more involved than ever with your kids and wife (but we also WANT to!), not to mention volunteering at church or being involved in discipleship at church (or other places as well). So where do we fit our health in all of this?? IT CAN BE DONE. And it starts with the #1 thing you will need on a continual basis if you are planning on making any kind of long-term change.
Intimidated. Yep…that was me when I first learned about Living Room Conversations. After speaking with Joan, however, I have gained a healthy respect for learning how to have civil discussions about topics we might not always agree on. Stop un-friending your “friends” on Facebook because you have a difference of opinion. Stop losing family relationships and real life friends because you have a different political/religious/health view. IT CAN BE DONE! I don’t know that I was convinced of this until I tried what livingroomconversations.org suggests and hosted my own Living Room Conversation around food in my own home! Listen to the podcast and see what I mean…I bet you that you will also realize the need for this in our homes, our friendships, our communities, our nation, and yes, even the world.
