During the Magic At The Beach 2024 convention, one of the sessions was “Tales From The Road” which was reprised from last year, since it was such a success then. Organizer, Charles Bach, gave permission to record and broadcast this session again this year that contains some great “road warrior” stories by some of the top working professionals. It is a good cross section of magicians with varied backgrounds and experiences which I know you will enjoy.. Dave, Marcus and Colin rewatch a film from their youth and have a very different experience. What was once an an intense, dark action film has become--to adult eyes--flat out hilarious. The guys marvel at officer Lymangood's juvenile horniness, love Murphy's wise cracking antics, and all agree the “conspiracy” makes almost no sense whatsoever. And let's not forget the especially bizarre dialogue: what the hell does “a hot mince pie under each arm” actually mean? Don't be a “JAFO.” Just tune in and enjoy the ride.

See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Andrew joins Ben to discuss a word that is the sliver of overlap in the Venn diagram of the previous two episodes: animate and robot. Ben brings up a (very) minor controversy for Geoff Keighley's “The Game Awards” independent game nominees this year involving Mint Rocket's “Dave the Diver.” Andrew goes on an exotic adventure with a Pringles flavor all the way from Japan! After a very quick definition segment, Andrew shares a traumatic event from his youth involving an animatronic alien at Universal Studios, and then more 70s and 80s movies are discussed. Ben drops a quick Hall of Presidents conspiracy theory and some sad Chuck E. Cheese news before he talks about the interesting origin story of Scott Cawthorn's incredibly popular “Five Nights at Freddy's” franchise. Finally, they come up with an amazing new restaurant idea to close out the show. 00:00:21 - Vacuuming robot revolution crisis possibly averted, pictures with Santa, and work 00:03:35 - Fight Club villain discovery, mental health, and more happy controversial things 00:05:27 - “Dave the Diver” Independent GOTY nomination, and the inventor of the seed drill 00:08:34 - No GOTY love for “RoboCop: Rogue City,” and Ben is just a little disappointed 00:10:15 - How to classify games a independently developed, and a Double Fine edge case 00:12:10 - Andrew's sensory adventure… Addictive Garlic Butter flavored Japanese Pringles! 00:16:45 - The official verdict, the definition, Disney's contributions, Billy Bass, and clockwork 00:22:32 - Scary animatronics, the Neil Diamond antidote, and Andrew's E.T. ride trauma 00:27:00 - Eliot the insurance policy, Stranger Things, and extraterrestrials for the woke agenda 00:29:36 - Blue Thunder, the underrated acting prowess of Roy Scheider, and a JAFO hat 00:31:42 - Bruce the pneumatic shark, cool to creepy, and wanting to take Teddy Ruxpin apart 00:34:29 - At an appropriate distance, David S. Intervju med Magnus Viberg som är affärsområdeschef på Jafo, som säljer VVS produkter.

Barry, Abigail, and special guest Jeff “Jafo” Shettler discuss some Pink Floyd songs and some beers that were “left over” after Jafo's Jukebox episode, Wish There Were Beer. We sample Uncertainty Reigns and Sweet Zombie Jesus from brewLAB in Carpinteria, California, as well as one of Jafo's own homebrew creations, Ukrainian Imperial Stout. At the time of recording, Wish There Were Beer was tied for our fifth-most-listened-to episode. Tracks we discuss include Hey Hey Rise Up, a single featuring Andriy Khlyvnyuk of Ukrainian band BoomBox. The vocals are lifted from a viral video of “Khlyvnyuk singing Oi u luzi chervona kalyna (Oh, the Red Viburnum in the Meadow)”, a Ukrainian patriotic march written in 1914 to honor the Sich Riflemen. Proceeds from the single support the charitable organization Ukraine Humanitarian Fund. We also discuss When the Tigers Broke Free and What Shall We Do Now?, two tracks that appear in the film Pink Floyd: The Wall but do not appear on the album The Wall by Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd, the main character in Pink Floyd: The Wall was played by Bob Geldof of The Boomtown Rats. He later wrote Do They Know It's Christmas? by Band Aid and organized the Live Aid concert held simultaneously in London, England, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Before there was "Airwolf," before there was "Fire Birds," one movie stood alone as the epitome of helicopter action: "Blue Thunder." It's the movie that inspired Big D to be a pilot, showed us how to "dust" a perp, and made JAFO a household name. It also taught a 10-year-old in the UK how to cuss. And that 10-year-old grew up to be Shat The Movies commissioner Omar, who somehow understood "Blue Thunder" was about the surveillance state and police militarization. We just thought it was about naked high-rise yoga. Starring three legitimate badasses—Roy Scheider, Warren Oates and Malcolm McDowell—"Blue Thunder" illustrated what happens when combat veterans and single moms don't reach out for help, why it's weird to sexualize machines, how to dodge a missile in a crowded urban area and why looping a helicopter isn't all that useful. Warning: Do not watch this movie while sitting between co-workers on a Southwest Airlines flight. Or, if you do, make sure your tray table is covering your lap.
Barry, Abigail, and guest Jeff “Jafo” Shettler discuss Jeff's Jukebox submission, Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd. We also sample Green Tea IPA and Creatures of Habit from brewLAB in Carpinteria, California, as well as two of Jafo's own homebrew creations, Haze Phazer and Hazy 8. brewLAB recommended pairing their beer with music from Skinshape. We listened to I Didn't Know while tasting. Pink Floyd recently released Hey Hey Rise Up, featuring Andriy Khlyvnyuk of Ukrainian band BoomBox. The vocals are lifted from a viral video of Khlyvnyuk singing Oh, the Red Viburnum in the Meadow, a Ukrainian patriotic march written in 1914. Proceeds from the single support the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund. Barry and Jafo met as coworkers working for James Cameron and his brother Dave on “everything between Titanic and Avatar.” Barry and then-Captain Jafo met at their eventual shared workplace, The Sojourner, a research vessel owned by the Blue Planet Marine Research Foundation. The opening and closing tracks of Wish You Were Here comprise a nine-part composition called Shine On You Crazy Diamond, written about and dedicated to Syd Barrett, a former Pink Floyd member who was asked to leave the band due to mental health issues. We’ve decided that January should be an entire month of movies about over the top mega vehicles, because this is our show and we can do whatever we want. A more sensible podcast would probably be talking about movies with more name value. We’re not here to be sensible though, we’re here to talk about BLUE THUNDER (1983), a movie where the LAPD gets ahold of a highly advanced attack chopper and everything that you can imagine going wrong absolutely goes wrong. Those smelly bums shoddily dressed up as superheroes on Hollywood Boulevard? Exploded by heat-seeking missiles! Join is as we discuss all of this out-dated and mostly offensive nonsense.
Esra 3:1-7 (Bibel 2000)Marie Ek Lipanovskahttp://www.marieeklipanovska.se
It's time for another helicopter show. This time is is Blue Thunder, the short-lived 1984 TV show based on the movie by the same name. In this first episode, called Second Thunder, Chaney and his "JAFO" hunt down a drug dealer who is blowing police helicopters out of the sky. Does it live up to the movie? Is it better than Airwolf? We begin with M*A*S*H (1970) - the movie that started a TV show that lasted longer than the Korean war it portrays at a time when America needed an outlet for Vietnam angst. Machismo overcomes emasculation in Westworld (1973) with gritty gunslingers and sex robots. The paramilitary police surveillance state is closer than we think in Blue Thunder (1983) but let's turn it into a weekly fluffy police drama. Based on a true story (not), Fargo (1996) divides us with its ineptitude noir and the banality of evil. Also: Joe tries to bond with #PERL the cat - literally. Laugh track vs. no laugh track. Dee shits on Joe’s facts. We uncover the earliest use of the word “fuck” in cinema. Robots? No! Rbts! RBTS! Dee isn’t impressed by a rubber snake. JAFO, FNG, and REMF explained. Mario Machado! Yah.
